Food is unique and very tasty. Sliders is what I ordered along with the rice and salsa side and I was very pleased. Place has a fun vibe and a unique menu so I will be back.
Awesome fried shrimp slider topped with coleslaw and a side of yella rice and black beans. Quirky local surf shop atmosphere. Nice staff.
Delicious and it doesn't hurt that hot surfers are coming in and out all day. Only bad thing is that there is only one salad option and the ingredients are limited. If u like sandwiches, though, go for it.

Half Moon Raw Bar

1289 Penman Rd
Jacksonville Beach, 32250
Reviews:
Servers first night on, and service was on point. Oysters and buffalo shrimp were hands down the BEST in town and at a reasonable price---- I will be returning with LOTS of friends. $6 happy hour pitchers.... The owner came out to check on us and was cute as a button. I hope this joint sticks around longer than its predecessor Beach Buds Chicken.
I was very surprised with this place. From the outside I was expecting Half moon to be kind of a dump. I was ok with that. However, when you walk in it's really a pretty nice space. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the front. Kind of reminds me of a sports bar. The walls are plastered in flat screen TVs, which were all tuned to sports and the Winter Olympics(which are sports-ish), and there's a big wooden bar full of regulars as you walk in the front door. Beers are cheap, with a decent draft list. I started out with a dozen raw oysters. They were delicious, and very fresh. Served with lemon, horseradish and a tasty cocktail sauce. Worked through those in a hurry. They are sold at market price, but the dozen was $10 as of 12/14. For my entree, I had a grilled meatloaf sandwich. Basically served just like a hamburger, but with grilled meatloaf instead with a side of gravy. I probably would have liked a hamburger just as much, but the side of gravy tipped the scales for me. I'm a sucker for gravy, and it's good here. I also tried one of the grilled wings, which was excellent. They are dry rubbed and grilled perfectly. Not dry at all, with just the right amount of heat. I really liked this little hole in the wall, and I'll definitely be back to watch a game sometime.
Oysters, need I say more! Yes I do.... I was pleased to see that the server behind the bar was busy shucking a ton of fresh oysters when I walked in and took a seat! I immediately placed an order for 1 doz raw. My husband also ordered the fish dip. The oysters were great. So salty and delicious! The fish dip was pretty tasty too! So naturally since we were pleased with the food received so far we decided to get some more....I ordered another dozen oysters and we got 1lb of crawfish (can't pass up those tasty buggers!) YUM YUM and more YUM! Everything we ate that night was fantastic! But let me say this, while I definitely enjoyed the food that Half Moon Raw Bar had to offer, the service was not as up to par. The bartenders were friendly but not very attentive. That's the only thing I'd change....pay a little bit more attention especially to the people sitting right in front of you. Other than that, I will definitely be coming back to eat here often!

Hot Dog Hut

Reviews:
In my opinion The Hot Dog Hut has the BEST hot dogs in Jax! I had the Andouille Sausage dog that comes topped with grilled peppers and it was delicious. But the truth is that I have never had anything from there that wasn't delicious. Even with the new ownership (I think they've owned it for a few yrs now) the place has only gotten better which is usually not the case with restaurants. I'm thrilled that THDH is still just as good if not better than it was when I first started eating there years ago!
All of my customer service experiences in the south and the east have been weird, short or outright rude. That is, until we came here! The ladies at the counter were warm and loving, like a favorite aunt! They happily explained sizing to us and mentioned new menu items. The decor was delightfully bad, like a hot dog hut should have. Big bathroom open to the public, which was hard to find in California beach towns. My husband had a foot long Chicago dog and I had the jumbo Bama: hot dog with pulled pork, slaw and a sweet and savory sauce. We also got chili cheese fries to split, which were surprisingly small, but probably for the best of our health. We took our food to Jax Beach and watched Hurricane Sandy blow by. Made me miss Brooklyn and eating Nathan's Famous on the Coney Island sand. Four stars for great customer service, location and nostalgia.
Somewhat baffled by the pile of 5-star reviews for this place. To be clear, I adore hot dogs. There's nothing I would love more than a truly excellent hot dog joint here on the beach, but this isn't it. The dogs here aren't bad, they're just nothing to drop 5 stars about. Their Chicago dog is pretty far from accurate (sweet relish instead of dill relish, for one) and their slaw is weirdly dry (it's finely diced red cabbage and not much else). The chili is average. I've been there a few times and my dogs weren't grilled very thoroughly (I thought they had been boiled the first time I visited). The menu items are there, but the execution isn't quite great.

The cárnitas burrito is delicious. We also tried their homemade salsa verde, chips and guacamole and we were pretty impressed. The staff is very friendly as well and can't complain about their food portion.
This place is a Burrito goldmine with exceptionally affordable prices and great selection! Doesn't get much better for the value!!
It's great to have this little place so close to my house. I often forget it's there though because it is so small and not a place you would usually stay to eat. Getting to-go from here and taking it to the beach or back to your house is ideal. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Their guacamole is also really good, along with several of their menu items that I have tried. They don't have the same menu as the downtown location, or the same hours, but in my opinion they have everything I need. I usually get the teriyaki tofu burrito, veggie burrito or quesadillas. Last time I ordered, I got the veggie quesadilla and asked them to add black beans. When I went to pick up my order, the chef complimented me on the idea of adding black beans to their veggie quesadilla and said he was going to make that a lunch special later in the day. That made me feel good because being vegetarian, I often feel like I am having to modify menu items and it's nice to know someone appreciated it rather than felt annoyed. I'll definitely be frequenting this place more now that I am only a few blocks away.

Ninis Pizza & Restaurant

1269 Penman Rd
Jacksonville Beach, 32250
Reviews:
It's hard to find a restaurant that serves a good Chicken Parmigiana. I think in general it's hard to find good Italian in Jacksonville. I judge all Italian restaurant's by their Chicken Parmigiana (if they happen to offer it). Well Nini's has a fantastic Chicken Parmigiana. It was my first visit to Nini's Saturday night (8/8/15) and I can't wait to go back for more and to try the rest of their menu.
I still don't really know how to feel about Ninis. The pizza is probably the best at the beaches, and the other items I've had are great as well (especially the chicken parmesan). I have eaten in, taken out, and gotten delivery. I highly recommend the latter two options - the eating space is tiny and awkward. The delivery guys are always very nice too. My main gripe is with the (presumed?) owner. I see that others on here have mentioned her - one time they screwed up a pizza my girlfriend and I split. We ordered a half and half and got all her half. One would assume it was no big deal, so I called back and mentioned the mixup, and asked if I could just have a small cheese (that was all I wanted) and the owner continued to argue with me about what I ordered, even though since I have not ordered anything but cheese in my entire life I was quite confident that was what I ordered. In the end, she just abruptly said a very small pizza would be there eventually. It came pretty quickly (and the delivery guy was very nice and apologetic) but I just don't understand what her deal is, the customer is ALWAYS right. It wasn't like I was asking for an XL triple meat or anything. This place is the best pizza at the beach, but I will continue to frequent Milano's or Al's since I can order a pizza without being treated so rudely.
This place is small at first sight and has a pretty cozy atmosphere. The food is delicious, probably some of the best pasta I've ever had, and the prices are very reasonable. On top of that, great and friendly service make this place a definite repeat: I highly recommend the mushroom sauce!

Awesome decor. Super fresh sushi with "plate appeal" in the presentation. Crispy Duck over rice rocks!
It is hard to find good sushi in Jacksonville FL. This place is certainly the exception. I cannot speak for the Thai food, but I have been hear for lunch, and I had dinner here last night. I eat sushi once a week (sometimes more often), and this is place may be my new favorite. It is not inexpensive, but the price is reasonable for the quality. It's extremely fresh! They also have a good happy hour (I need to come back earlier for that). As for the atmosphere, it's beautiful. It's romantic (great for a date), yet trendy (great for a ladies' night). The food presentation impressed me the most. If you love sushi, try this place out.
Kamiya doesn't skimp on the presentation skills, that's for sure. Everything from the full bar to the sushi plates is colorful, carefully laid out and assembled with extreme attention to detail. We had friends in town and stopped by on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full except for the private rooms off to the side of the main dining room, an alternative that made for a memorable dinner thanks to a no-shoe policy and a space all to ourselves. It was our first time there, so we went with the two most popular rolls; the Yummy roll and the Rock roll. Both were stuffed with fish and minimal rice, with plenty to feed a few people when paired with the Thai Ginger Chicken bowl we ordered as well. The bowl had a nice mix of chicken, veggies and rice but make sure to order the sauce on the side - it can be overwhelming and saturate all the ingredients beyond recognition if you pour the whole thing in. Lesson learned. A nice spot to grab some sushi at the Beaches, with decent prices for such an upscale atmosphere.

New Wok

Service is great and all the dishes I have tried have been good. Not sure what the previous reviewer expects from a $5 meal. It's great for Chinese take-out. The "yellow rice" seems to be the norm in the Jacksonville area. I'm not really fond of it either (have had it other places but not here) so I just stick to steamed white rice. Easy. Also, New Wok will cook up some fried rice in the traditional way with soy sauce if requested.
Love this place! It has become my go-to place for Chinese delivery ever since it opened. Better than any other Chinese takeout I've tried in the area. The food is very good and portions are huge. Service is friendly - they have come to know me and will even suggest some of my regular items when I call to order. And they save my payment information which makes ordering even easier! I've liked everything I've tried here but particular favorites are the Orange Chicken, steamed dumplings, Shrimp and Garlic sauce, Mongolian Beef, and well, everything else, too.
This place is great. Do not let the other reviewer scare you away. The staff is very friendly, delivery is quick, and the food always tastes fresh. I have been to many other Chinese takeout places at the beach and this is one of the best around here. I have eaten here many times and the food is always consistently delicious.

I enjoyed my dinner here very much. I sat on the patio and had the scallops. They were amazing! The service was excellent. I would return! Make sure you have a reservation, they are packed on the weekends!
Food is fantastic! The service is wonderful and a truly great date place. Friendly service and top notch. The wine list is really good as are their craft beers. The tuna tartar is delicious and a must get. The burrata appetizer is wonderful and filling. I shared it this time. We got the bread service and was worth it. Steaks are ok but the fish is what you get when you come here. The patio on cooler nights is a must. The bar fills up fast, so after 7:00 you might not get a spot. They have half price appetizers on Monday night if you purchase an entrè. Will come back again and again when I'm in town.
Holy moly, holy moly. What an awesome night at Jax Beach. It was Friday night and a group of us decided to come here on a whim. Another fine dining experience. This place is located on Eleven Avenue South, hence the name. It can be really easy to miss as it's not visible from A1A and behind a Veterinarian's office. They offer complementary valet but I'm not a big fan of having some stranger park my car, so I parked on the street in a designated spot and walked over. The outside doesn't compare to the inside at all. The place was full of people but thankfully we had reservations for a table near the kitchen in a gorgeous booth...with pillows! I felt like I was in a desert oasis. The table setting was exquisite with fresh yellow lilies and a candle. A friend and I got martinis called the Sunrise: Ketel One Citroen Vodka, Peach schnapps, champagne, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine. How awesome does that sound? Tastes great. While deciding over the menu, we were offered bread service with butter. The bread was freshly baked and the butter tasted freshly churned hahaha. We all detected some kinda of herbs mixed in with the butter that gave it an extra boost. There were 4 of us dining so we decided to get a bunch of apps, a couple of entrees, and a couple of desserts to split amongst us and our server Johnny (who was amazing) was cool with that. We first started off with the Mixed Cheese Plate that had Manchego and d'Affinois Double Creme aka Brie but the plate also had grapes, local honey, apples, crostinis, and lavash crisps. Everyone drooled over the honey. That must've been the purest tasting honey I've ever tried. Both cheeses were excellent quality. Next we ordered the rest of our apps and entrees consisting of Lobster Mac N Cheese, Grilled Octopus, Seafood Paella, and the Specials of the day of 4 Stone Crab Claws and the Wagyu Steak. I know, a lot of food but we had a feeling that it was going to be pretty epic. The lobster mac n cheese was phenomenal. I've never tasted anything like it. It was so rice and creamy with other herbs and spices. The grilled octopus was like high-quality calamari. The sauce on it was similar to a pesto with basil and cilantro in it and that was delicious. The seafood paella was bomb. The chorizo and shrimp were so flavorful with each bite. I could have eaten that all by myself. As for the specials, we each got a stone crab claw which tasted just like it came out of the sea. Excellent. The entree of the steak I think was the winning entree of the night. Dang that was the best steak I've ever had as it just melts in your mouth. It was also served with roasted potatoes and dried blueberries. Who does that? For dessert, we again split the Triple Chocolate Pot de Creme and the Coffee and Doughnuts. The Pot De Creme had copious amounts of chocolate and served with a biscotti. We all agreed it was good. The Doughnuts are more like mini beignets but also awesome. The espresso panna cotta really stood out in this dish. I love coffee. There were also little espresso chocolate balls *heeheehee* on top of the panna cotta. Our server told us about the patio parties that they have once a month so I may need to check them out. All in all, this place is a must try for everyone.
