We were there today for lunch and our experience was the same as the last time in early 2011. The service was fast and friendly with the servers making us feel like regulars. The servers stopped by our table several times making sure all was right. The owner delivered our food with a smile and asked if we needed anything saying just let us know what ever you need. I have eaten all over centeral Nj including the Jersey Shore (Belmar) where we lived for 20 years. I also worked and ate in NYC and I can tell you that The Rustic Ranch can stand with the best of them!!!!! I give them a 10 out of 10 rateing I look forward to the 1 1/2 hour drive out there again so I can eat there. I also know that there will be 90 pounds of fresh crab there on Friday May 10th @ 4:00 PM for a all you can eat crab feast. She will also have King Crab available but not all you can eat. We followed the directions the owner gave us and found the destination we were looking for. Also enjoyed the tour of the old citrus county court house finding out the person who gives the tours is a relative of mine. Thank You Rustic Ranch!!!!!!!

I see people complaining about the lunch food, and I can not speak on that for I have never had it. However I always get their breakfast and am never dissapointed. Service can be hit or miss at times, but I never have a problem with the food. Probably best breakfast in town.

In a town full of chains this is a nice small town restaurant. Good food, pleasant service. Had the half salad pecan crusted chicken very tasty. Ice tea is strong. Love this place we visit every time we are in town to visit family.

The best breakfast in town.....everything tastes fresh!!......The only thing I'm not impressed with is their salads..... You might like them if you love iceburg lettuce ...I prefer spring mix ...and when I order a salad that says spring mix that is what I expect to get ....but was not the case... Over all its a great place!!

This place is closed up tight. Has a for sale sign out front and a realtor's lock box on the door.

Great breakfast with good coffee and attentive service. Locally owned with retro touches like wooden booths with Western cow brands, a longhorn steer head on the wall and other eclectic decor. Homemade pastries!

As my friend and I walked in, we were met by the owner who called out a cheerful "HOWDY"! We were immediately seated and had a great little waitress. I had 1/2 slab of baby back ribs, baked sweet potato and one of my favorite things in the world ~ fried green tomatoes!!!! Mmmmm, everything was scrumptious! I work out of town a lot and try to patronize independent restaurants, they're usually the best and this place did not disappoint! I'll be back!

I never write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so terrible that I feel compelled to do so. I'm visiting from out of town, so my sister brought me here for lunch. Here was our experience in a nutshell: We walked in and got seated right away. The waitress was very sweet, and our drinks came quickly. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We ordered our meals, and waited... And waited... And waited. And waited. Our food finally came. My sister ordered a turkey sandwich thing with avocado and sundried tomato mayo. I ordered the "Rusty Burger," which came with bacon, Swiss cheese, fried onion strings, and a BBQ ranch sauce. I asked for it medium rare, with no bacon, and cheddar instead of Swiss cheese. The first thing I noticed was the bacon sticking out of the burger. I took off the top of the bun and saw immediately that there was also no sauce - no condiments whatsoever. The very nice waitress took it back to the kitchen. She returned with the burger, which was topped with one small onion ring and covered with a yellow sauce. I dipped my pinky in the sauce and took a lick; it tasted like a mustardy ranch concoction. We called the poor girl back over, and I asked about the "BBQ ranch" sauce. She told me that they didn't have any, so the cook had mixed some up. I told her there was no BBQ flavor whatsoever, and she looked stumped. So I just asked her to bring me a side of BBQ sauce so I could doctor it up myself. She went back to the kitchen, and I cut my burger in half (should have done that right away). It was cooked well-done. Bloody hell. Then my sister noticed that her sandwich was missing the sundried tomato mayo. So, back the waitress went for a side of sdt mayo. I'm sure she was exhausted by this point. We finished our meals as quickly as possible, and the waitress brought the check. Full price, no discounts. My sister brought it to the register up front, and the man who greeted her seemed distinctly displeased when she described our experience and requested a discount. Without a word in response, he took the check and began to struggle with the register/printer for about 10 minutes. He finally went to the back somewhere to print out a new receipt for my sister's credit card. About 5 minutes later, he came back and my sister asked how much of a discount he had given us. He replied, "the club discount." She asked, "But how much is it?" After going back and forth a few times like a scene from a Three Stooges movie, he finally said, "$3.77." A whole three bucks for the worst meal of the year. The gentleman then informed my sister that he still needed to run the card, even though the receipt had printed a signature line. My sister decided to just pay cash at this point, so she pulls out the cash from her wallet, and the guy says, "Oh, I don't handle the cash; let me go get someone." And disappears. At this point my sister and I had reached the limit, and we just busted out laughing. Pretty hysterically. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. Some people seem to really like this place. I don't know if we just struck gold on the crap wheel, or if they have gone downhill. If you decide to give it a go, may the gods be with you!

The food and service was mediocre at best. I had the special of beef tips with mashed potatoes......super small pieces of beef, not sure that the gravy was homemade. The French onion soup was very good. Fried green tomatoes-too much coating & no flavor. Cheesy grits-no flavor. Shredded cheese out of a bag, salad dressing out of a bottle, maybe even the salad was out of a bag. 4 types of beer (Budweiser) one type of red wine, slow service, food was not hot, except for the soup. Not planning on a return visit.

I had a chicken sandwich which was friends and had ham and bacon on it. It was delicious. The service was not that great waited for refills and our server was just busy. They seemed to have other people not as buddy that could have helped. I also wish they had more sides to choose from

I'm surprised to see such negative reviews. Citrus County lacks a good cafe, or close to home cooked meals. My husband and I have tried various meals here and have always been satisfied. Their sandwiches are especially tasty. The "Tebow" which consists of grilled chicken, bacon, and a fried green tomato was to die for! We have also tried their "Juicy Lucy" burgers - stuffed with your choice of cheese. The "Po-Boy" which is their pulled BBQ Pork & Coleslaw sandwich, it doesn't sound good, but it is by far my favorite thing on the menu. We have also tried their Chicken Cordon Bleu which was good as well. We've also tried the BLT with fried green tomatoes which was a nice change of pace as well. They also serve Chicken and Waffles - it's a treat. Their steaks aren't bad either, as my husband has tried them once or twice as well. The only meal I can recall not caring for was their chicken pot pie. The crust was great - the chicken was good - however the filling/spices they used made it taste more like chicken salad seasoning than pot pie. I did like it, it just wasn't what I was used to as far as pot pies go. Their baked goodies are good too - not tempted to often to get anything because the meals are so filling. They do have a breakfast/lunch menu which varies from the dinner menu. They also have daily weekday specials (Fish Fry Friday, Taco Tuesday, etc.) The staff is always on the ball, the restaurant is always clean, and parking isn't an issue. The second time I visited the restaurant with my mother, after telling her how great our experience was, we sat for about fifteen minutes before anyone got to us, and the place was relatively empty (between lunch-dinner). The manager apologized explained what happened, and gave us a treat on the house, which wasn't needed. But throughout our meal they were sure to come by and check on us, and continued to apologize. It wasn't even a big deal, but it was nice to know they had made a slight boo-boo. Continued to go back, nothing like that has happened again. If we're ever in Inverness, we try to make a trip in.

I am also surprised at the low rating for this place I have been here a lot and always had great service and great food, so all I can say is dont hesitate because of the others reviews you won't be disappointed.

I've been here many of times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I have never had a bad experience. The food is very fresh and tasty. I love the chicken sandwich, it's perfectly fried. My favorite thing on the menu has to be the au jous sandwich. It piled high with roast beef and comes with a side of juice to dip the sandwich in, I defiantly recommend it! My mom usually gets their salads and always loves them. They have baked goods to purchase on the way out which are decent, sometimes a little dry. Overall very awesome place!

The options for breakfast here were great as it is an entire menu itself. It took a while for us to get seated despite ample seating but things picked up from there. I had the strawberry granola French toast. Others had the ham and cheese omelette, country boy skillet and the eggs Benedict. Recommend this for a non chain option.

New menu but food is not always available. Ran out of fish at 6:30 after advertising special in newspaper! Also, poor service. Very disappointing.

Another one to add to the never again list. Waited for 10 minutes for a waitress and was getting to leave when a strong smell of smoke preceded the waitress coming to our table. She was having a smoke outback and no one else filled in for her. I doubt that she even washed herhands before showing up to our table asking "What do ya want?" Potatos and gravy were cold, steak was smaller than advertised.

We live nearby Inverness, so occasionally make the ride into town for dinner. On Monday nights, the Rustic Ranch has a pretty good special of baby back ribs for two. Price is right if you can get the server to bring it out while it is still hot. Went last night and having experienced the lackluster service before, should have known better. We waited and waited and when the meal finally came out, the dinner felt as though it had sat under an air conditioner vent. When we could next find the waitress or hostess (they disappear a lot there), we were done with the whole experience. Just wanted to leave. I kick myself because every time we have gone there, the service has been terrible. Maybe this time, lesson learned. Too bad, because the menu has some decent items. Restaurant Impossible needs to visit!

This is my FL equivalent of my old local diner. I usually eat the the wrap that has egg whites, chicken and assorted veggies - breakfast, lunch or dinner. But I've also had the shrimp and grits for dinner which is quite nice, too.
