Tonight Service was a disaster. The Mens restroom floor had puddles of water which I brought to the attention of the take out counter staff.Tonights Service provided by Ricky his body was there but his focus was elsewhere,he was disorganized from the beginning he kept forgetting our request he also had no help, brought wings and pizza and forgot plates, had to wait for him to bring plates meaning food was getting cold, the draft beer was stale Bud light taste horrible, was offered Coors Light as alternative then found out their was none & therefore had to change this as well.Owner was busy working the floor too, he was so busy he did not noticed his employees at take our counter chatting and watching TV instead of making themselves available to help Ricky and the owner they were just flatly doing nothing at take out counter not until it got much busier did owner finally pull them out of the take out counter.I have been a customer of big cheese for over 15 years first at South Miami then at Homestead, since the recent change of ownership at Homestead I given the new management a chance, I have been visiting less frequently cause service has been in my opinion decreasing every time I visit, but tonight has been the worst experience ever.I missed Summer and Rebecca and will move my business down the road to New Jersey Board Walk Pizza is more pricey but at least they seem to have a good handle of their business and customers.

This place is a great place to eat! It's a gem in homestead! Right off of US1, I recommend making the trip south just for the pizza! I would be eating here 3 or 4 times a week if I lived locally! It's definitely a go to spot on the way to the Keys or Everglades for me. The owners have been there every time I've gone recently and they are super nice and accommodating! They're even sponsoring a charity event for us! Just absolutely love it!!

I've always loved Big Cheese but haven't ordered from them since I read their last health inspection . 47 violations! Sorry but they need to clean up their act

If you come in hoping for it to be as good as the original location you will be extremely disappointed. If you come in hoping for decent pizza that's nothing overly special you're golden!

New location in Homestead. This restaurant is much bigger and has more parking then the original location. The Pizza and Italian Food is Good. I get their pizza ( NY Style ) well done I think its better that way. For their pasta dishes I get the chicken Marsala. That's chicken breast grilled with mushrooms and Marsala wine or the chicken Francoise. That chicken dipped in batter then fried to golden brown and then they add lemon butter. Both dishes are Great and comes with a side of pasta. They also make a good lasagna and Hugh salads. Most dishes you can get in a half order if your not that hungry. Staff is great and the restaurant is clean as well as the bathrooms.

This pizza place is okay if you're looking for something in between a Florida pizza & a New York pizza. Sometimes they put so much sauce on it and she's that it slides right off of the pizza even when it's not too hot. It's not the best pizza I've had but it's not the worst pizza its just mediocre.

Their baked minestrone soup so amazing and authentic! Cheese and pepperoni pizza Delish! The cotton candy at the end a nice touch! However my favorite is their garlic served with their rolls so fresh! The best part is their friendly staff, we just moved to the area a few months ago, it is great Finding a place with good food and amaZing service, we will be going back sooner than later!

The food is great as always. The service is friendly and courteous. They are attentive to the customers needs and make you feel welcomed.

California Max Veggie was awesome. They don't hold back on the veggies and we loved it. Glad we found another quality pizza place to add to our list. Our Server's name was Summer and she was awesome. Great recommendations.

The price was right with this place but the food not so much. My husband and I ordered delivery which was only 45 minutes because they were busy which is fine. That's a typical wait time for delivery. We ordered a sausage pizza and some buffalo wings with Bleu cheese. The sausage pizza looked like crumpled up beef and was not very tasty to me or my husband. We're from the Chicago land area and we love pizza and we figured we would give this a try. I have to rub all the sausage off because it made the pizza mushy which made the rest of the pizza just eh. We probably ate two slices and threw the rest away. The wings were pretty just okay not great though and the Bleu cheese really tasted off. I don't know if it's old or they made it in house but it didn't taste good. When we come back to this area we will probably try this place again but never the pizza.

We move here almost a year ago and fell in love with this place and ordered from here at least twice a month. They Had awesome pizza, meatballs and service. I ordered tonight for delivery and not only did it take an hour and a half but the pizza sucked it was cold and soggy the meatballs were cold. The girl on the phone told me that they under new management so we no longer got military discount over the phone and failed to give me a price and hung up before I could even ask. Needless to say its time to go somewhere else what a shame I liked that place too

Fast service. Food is really fresh. Garlic rolls are hot and warm. We ordered Miami slice pizza, was very delicious. Staff very friendly.

I tried to look online to just send an email to the manager to tell them about my issue, and express my concern. But they only have a phone number. So I am posting my review instead. Let me start by saying the food is great. The pizza is a little different from the S. Miami location, but it tastes great. I have had an issue with the service. There seems to be a issue with either lack of servers, or training the servers properly to know how to handle issues and large parties. I was just with one other person the other night. And here is what happened. 1) Server greeted us. Took our drink order. Brought drinks. Took food order. Brought garlic rolls and plates. 2) So we weren't starving cause of the rolls. Salads came out, and eventually the entrees came out. Not too long after. But it took a while for the kitchen to tell the server they were out of a food item. And so they had to make that and we had to wait a while longer for our food. 3) She asked us a million times if we were okay. Good servers see the issue, fix it, and barely speak to the table unless necessary. We were okay. But we were hungry. Obviously there was not much she could do. 4) The manager should have come and apologized for the delay of our food. 5) The food was excellent. 6) While we were waiting for the food. Another large party, probably 15+ people came in. They occupied the servers time, and while we were finished with our food she was attending to their needs. It took her 40 minutes to bring boxes for our leftovers, garlic bread to go (and forgot the garlic, which I went to the kitchen window and asked for it myself on the way out, after asking several times for it), drop off our check, not apply the groupon, take it back to the manager to refund, and re-run my card. 7) If you have a table of two sitting next to a large party, try to get them their check and boxes asap. Even before they are finished, just say, "I am going to be busy taking care of this table, I just want to leave this for when you are ready." Get those people out of there. Just a general time frame of a restaurant, a party of two should be in and out of a restaurant in 45 minutes for dinner. 30 for lunch. Large parties like to linger and chat. So your main priority is your smaller tables. 8) Where on earth was the food runner or server assistant? They should have been getting the large party their drinks and rolls and allowing the server to take their orders and assist the other tables. If there are more than 8 people at a table, there should be two servers assigned to attend their needs. The rest of the tables being served will suffer. Much like we saw in our experience. 9) The manager should have come and apologized for taking 40 minutes after our meal was complete to get us out the door. We were very tempted to just get up and walk out. But I have worked in the food service industry for many years, and I have way more patience than the next guy. 10) I will be ordering take out for my next Groupon. And only visiting this location if I have hours to burn. And if I do dine in, I will not be leaving what I thought was such a generous tip for such terrible service. Yes she brought us the food. But really. There's more to good service than that. 11) This is the third visit where timing has been an issue with serving meals and getting us out the door at a decent rate after we are finished with our meal. And these have all been during the week, which is notoriously slower than weekends. That is all. South Miami location has got their stuff together. Homestead, let's try a little harder next time. I am sure I am not the only person with these issues.

We just moved to the area and are basically just tourists still. We had our first experience at the big cheese a few weeks ago. The pizza was good chewy crust with a slightly sweet sauce the service was friendly and the atmosphere casual and relaxing. Everything was delicious and the cotton candy at the end was a great surprise. 2nd experience we had them deliver. We asked for cheesecake and they were out and To our surprise the delivery man apologized for being slightly late and said they stopped at a local bakery to pick us up a piece of cheesecake. Awesome service. We will definitely be back again. Additionally the chicken Parmesan was excellent. They just don't disappoint.

After hearing over and over I had to eat here. It's good food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would eat here again but not my first choice. Atmosphere reminds me of being a kid.

I have been to the South Miami store but had never visited the Homestead one. I was driving on US 1 heading to a thrift shop nearby and saw the Big Cheese sign and my mouth literally started watering! I had to evoke the inner Nascar race-car driver to maneuver myself off of the highway and into that parking area without causing a 16 car pile-up on US 1. Once inside, I was not particularly impressed with the decor but was impressed with how quickly I was attended to and escorted to a booth. The hostess asked me if I wanted garlic or cheese bread and within a few minutes I was chomping down on some decadent garlic rolls pilled high with garlic and oil...nom nom! Once my waiter came by I ordered a slice of pizza and a soda and he informed me that two slices of two-topping pizza with the soda would only be $6.48. So I ordered those with my favorite bacon and pineapple...don't judge;) I entertained myself by watching a cute little girl run around charming the patrons and "helping" sweep the floor. My pizza was ready really quickly which made me wonder how good it could possible be...I was very pleasantly surprised. This is the BEST crust I've ever had and I devoured every single bite of delicious hot, cheesy, bacon-y and pinapple-y pizza ever!! As my moment of deliciousness was coming to an end, my waiter casually asked me if I wanted some cotton candy!! I must have looked perplexed because he said "we don't believe in breath mints, we believe in Cotton Candy!" Not gonna complaint about THAT! The cotton candy was huge and came perched on a red cup (see pic) and it was delish! Great end to a great meal...will definitely be back again soon!

Close your eyes, and open your mouth - because what this place lacks in looks, it makes up for in excellent food, great service and dirt cheap prices. Chicago style pizza and more. Free cotton candy for desert. Good food without the glitz.

This place is great! They have a pretty big menu with some delicious items to choose from. There pizza is good, thier lasagna is to die for!! I have ordered for delivery and they messed up on my order but the owners wife was really nice and offered to give me a credit or my money back. I have also ate thier on Saturday and that specific day after 5pm they have a special going on 2 for $20. You get an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. Can't beat it! They also welcome you with some warm, fresh out the oven garlic rolls and also give you some cotton candy at the end of your meal, great touch! My husband and I went there last Sunday for thier Sunday brunch and it was great! We thought it probably wasn't so good since it was empty but i'm guessing since this is new, many people haven't heard of it. They had many items to choose from and they just kept taking out more and more food. Delicious! Our waitress was Summer, awesome sweet and attentive young lady. The service is great! Will defenitely be going back.

  • Mabriela M.

Our waiter summer was amazing. Made us feel right at home. She knew the menu like the back of her hand. This was our first visit to the homestead big cheese. We are frequent visitors to the south Miami location. I think we found our new Friday night spot

    (5)
  • Charles F.

Service was very good (Herb), They start out with free garlic rolls! Pizza was good and they have a mini ice cream parlor with reasonable pricing! Also after your meal they brought us free cotton candy, nice touch. One negative: $9.25 for a Cesar salad, too much$$. We will definitely go back!!!

The Big cheese was delicious !!!!! Inexpensive and the pizza was amazing !!!!!!! The servers were excellent and attentive as if You aré at a 5 star restaurant . We paíd practically pennies for the food ! The place is Open 24 hours for those late night cravers

This review is long overdue but when this fine gentleman that works there reads this maybe he'll smile. I paid for a takeout order with a 100 bucks... Apparently this Monopoly money the govt prints is next to impossible to change anywhere!! After them making a big deal out a $30-40 order they brought me the change in ones and fives. Not to mention buddy was laughing like someone told a joke or something. As I started to count it I noticed the guy watching and I said to hell with it, and walked out without counting the proper change. Sure enough I was short 10 bucks... Like really guy 10 bucks??? Keep it scumbag, Ull never see me order from there again. Not to mention that the food isn't even anything to rave about anyways!!! There's a better spot right by the college down the street! Mamma Mia, they got real good pizza!!!!!

How can two restaurant s with the same name be so different? The Big Cheese in Homestead is awful. On Sunday they have a buffet. The food is just left out, it's not kept warm or anything.

    (1)
  • Justin S.

Burnt. Overcooked. Bad service. Missing stuff. 4 family members and we are all dissatisfied. I won't come back. Plus I found something black and hair like in my sub. Thanks but no thanks. Fish undercooked. No chicken in the breading. 3 family member already ate by the time the fish was done. Yet still undercooked. Worst restaurant ever.

  • Vivian V.

New management, food is much better, nice attentive Waiter. The manager, as we requested him to come to the table, didn't give us the time of day. Beware of the groupon secret rules and regulations. For this behavior I give it a FAIL.

Went for Sunday lunch with the family. No air conditioning and pasta we cold. We usually love going to the big cheese but this trip was a real disappointment

Fantastic food and really great service. Can it say enough about our friendly server! great guy! Had a shark tooth necklace! Go ! Enjoy!

  • Amanda A.

New owners... Always changes... Our server Ricky was phenomenal... Their signature Caesar Salad, tasted like it had been sitting around in the fridge waiting to be ordered. Croutons were soggy.. Recipe seems to have been altered. Garlic rolls were delivered with minimal garlic. Too low lighting hurt my eyes and the music being played reminded me of elevator music... If I'm going to hit the Big Cheese... I'll go to the original location in South Miami...

    (2)
  • M B.

Love this place. The food and service are consistently good. The owner is super nice and always walking around and doing quality control. Great local business!!

    (5)
  • Martha M.

We were regular customers but the Quality has changed.. And not for the better. What a shame.

    (2)
  • Krystle S.

I always order lunch from them and the food is always hot and yummy and delivery is always fast and accurate! I love their huge portion, big enough to have for dinner or to share.

    (5)
  • Hannah H.

The service here is phenomenal. The servers here remember you, greet you warmly and even may remember what you ordered last time. I am on a very special diet and they are careful to meet my restrictions. Unfortunately, food isn't everything. It's been a hit or miss here, and I agree that the South Miami location is better. If you have the palate of a seven year old, you'll love this place. The pizza is pretty good and the portions are beyond generous. I however like complex flavors and ingredients. But for standard americanized Italian fare, as long as you stick to the basics, this place isn't bad.

Ordered delivery from here for the first time, never ate from this place before. I ordered the meatball sub, a New England clam chowder, a chocolate chip cannoli and a cheesecake. The meat ball sub was alright.. Not really so great but that's because I didn't really like the bread, it tasted kind of burnt and just didn't like how the two flavors blended.. But the meat balls were good :) I really liked them and the sauce. The New England clam chowder was good too, I was satisfied. Very creamy and thick, but more potatoes than I'd like. The cannoli was was o.k, I've never had a cannoli before so I didn't know what to expect. I just looked it up on google and it looked good so I decided to try it but it was very new and odd to me haha that's just my fault though. But I liked the filling, just not a lot, I left it to finish it the next day :) The cheesecake was so good but I was disappointed in how small and messy it was in the box :( it was all squished (I guess from the drive) and really small. But I loved it, I just wish it was bigger and more neat.

  • Maritza A.

The food was good it's wasn't out of this world but worth coming again for. The waitress/service was great and that alone will motivate me to come back. If you order the regular sized pasta dishes just make sure you have 2 other people helping you eat that dish because it'll feed at least 3 people. It's huge!!!! Oh and you get cotton candy after you're finished eating, which in my opinion is the icing on the cake. I love cotton candy, I never get tired of cotton candy no matter how old I am. Lastly, the fried Oreos were sooooo good. Omg I was so happy after eating them. The fried Oreos are a must have. To conclude this review, I liked the big cheese a lot and it was my first time going there. The food was good and worth returning for. I loved our waitress she was awesome.

  • Matthew O.

Back in the winter of 2011 I gave the Big Cheese an unenthusiastic 3 star review. Well since then things have changed and things are much better. Service is awesome now, everyone is very friendly and attentive. For a little neighborhood pizza place, they have amazing attention to detail. The pizza is now outstanding. Before it was greasy, now it is pretty close to perfect. Not greasy at all and very flavorful. Like another review said, they give you free cotton candy for desert. My only complaint is that they play music from the 1940's, hip guys like me find that a little irritating.

    (5)
  • Luis R.

I just love this place! I've yet to have a bad meal here in years of going and the service is great. Everything is delicious. Great prices, lots of specials what else do you want??

    (5)
  • Wendy B.

New owner is revamping the decor, but it's the same great Italian food I have been eating for years! Great food, great service, and fried Oreos! And did I mention cotton candy with the check! All of that makes it worth the ride!

    (4)
  • Amy L.

This is our second time, here. Everything was yummy the first time. This time, not so good. The garlic rolls were cold and the spinach pizza we chose to try was bland. At least we saw American Pharoah win the Triple Crown!!

    (3)
  • Noelle M.

I didn't think it would live up to the reputation of the south miami location but it did! They even have daily lunch specials and gluten-free options. And you get FREE cotton candy when you get the check! What a pleasant surprise! And you can even get more if you ask. Server was nice, too. And unlike the south miami location, there is plenty of parking!

    (5)
  • Rick L.

I love the Big Cheese in South Miami, but unfortunately this one is not the same. Not to say it's bad, but it's not as good. Service is hit or miss and so is the food. Pizza is good not great

    (3)
  • Lizette L.

Love this place! Must have their pizza, it's the best around!! Super fun, casual and comfortable for small or large groups! Service is very attentive and friendly. Oh and at the end they bring cotton candy!!

  • Eric C.

Horrible food we stopped here after traveling all day. maybe a dozen tables it took a half hour to get us our food my chicken parmesan was ice cold they took it back and microwaved it so long that everything was rubbery. My wife's calzone was burnt all on the bottom and Horrible. Had to leave hungry in search of somewhere else to eat.

    (1)
  • Valentin C.

Excellence in service! Wow..haven't tasted a double cheese pizza like this in years. Excellent service. Will be back again but next time will try their lasagna. Two thumbs up!

    (5)
  • Kevin C.

Service was nice but I had Alfredo pasta that had no flavor. The chicken was nice but for a place called "the big cheese" they made a cheesy sauce taste bad. The pasta itself seemed unsalted. And the sauce was not creamy. Honestly if your thinking about getting Alfredo pasta from here just drive a little more and go to Walmart and buy pasta and caned sauce for under 6dollers because it will taste much better than what I just had for dinner.

I've been coming here for a few years now, and it has never disappointed. The service is good and the food is GREAT. The only food item that I don't absolutely love is their garlic rolls (drowned in garlic and oil but no spices cooked in, and pretty dry without the pound of oil on it), but everything else has been amazing. Everything comes in half orders which are HUGE. Dishes I would recommend: Their calamari, wayyy better than olive garden. Their seafood sautee appetizer, so good! Their pizza, great if you like thin crust! Their chicken caesar salad. Half order! Best chicken caesar I've had by far. (Make sure you ask for a steak knife and side dish to cut the chicken on, it's really difficult to try to cut a chicken filet when it's sitting on a bowl of lettuce) Chicken francise, so delicious. But it is really heavy on the sauce, so I ask for light sauce. Again the half order. All of their half orders are like normal sized dishes, but way better priced. Even my boyfriend has to stuff himself to finish a half sized entree. They also offer whole wheat pasta, which tastes just as good. Their take out is great too!

    (5)
  • Chelsea S.

The food was good, wait staff was very friendly. Decor, not so much. The rolls were so good but greasy!!! Also tons of garlic, which didn't bother me. We shared a pizza. My boyfriend got the XL since it was "only" $1 more... So much food!!!! We took half home and had it for lunch. We got the big cheese pizza with about 5 kinds of cheese. It was a cheese lovers heaven!! But be prepared, with great cheese comes great amounts of grease! All in all, enjoyable experience.

I eat out frequently and today I had the best server I've had in years. Herb was everything I expect a server to be and more. In fact he was so good, I thought he must have been trained at a five star restaurant. Imagine my surprise to learn that his employment at Big Cheese is his first and only job as a server. Big Cheese is an Italian restaurant and Pizzaria in Homestead, Fl. It has a casual atmosphere, an extensive menu and huge portions at fair prices. Most of the pasta dishes are available in half portions at a lower price. I can get at least two meals out of the half portions. Even though I currently live in Ohio, I have been to this Big Cheese many times and always make it a point to have a meal there when I am in town. The food is consistently good. Expect it to be a little slow coming out because the dishes are made by the order. I am a vegetarian. My favorite meal is the Vegetable Marinara made with generous quantities of fresh sauteed mushrooms, onions and artichoke hearts served in marinara sauce. It comes over fettucine, but I substitute for whole wheat spaghetti. There are four major Italian restaurants in Homestead. If you are hankering for an Italian meal go straight to the Big Cheese. And, be sure to request Herb as you server if you appreciate superior service. Check it out at www.bigcheesehomestead.

This is a decent place to go for Italian food. The menu is nice and the pizza is ok. The food and restaurant is three stars but since they were great when I went with a large group and the staff was fantastic with the kids I gave them an extra star.

    (4)
  • Chris S.

Really liked this place about a year ago would order about once a week for delivery. But it has really gone down hill the food taste is lacking and the pizza usually comes delivered cold and all the toppings are moved around to one side of the pie. Will probably stop ordering from the cheese which is a bummer because I use to really enjoy it :(

    (2)
  • Wil A.

Great meal. I went being a fan of the South Miami location, expecting a little less quality considering it wasn't the original, but I was wrong. The taste and quality was the same, couldn't tell the difference from the original except the parking situation is much better and more space in between tables. I will come back the next time I am down south.

  • Edi S.

Great food, but, no one seemed to care that this order was a total f-up...I guess if you're that busy, you don't have to care...After calling in an order (to someone who might not even know his own phone number), and waiting an hour, we call, to find out that our order never went thru. Genius never took our phone number and they didn't have all of our CC info.

I was shocked when I looked on my YELP APP and discovered that there is a Big Cheese down south! We immediately could taste the ceaser salad and rushed over. The location does not have the same character as the UM one but it was clean. I think it could benefit in a bit of an overall to give the environment a more sporty feel, hell you have the Homestead Race Track not far away so maybe doing a nascar motif and promoting the location during the races might bring in a crowd. I have to give major props to our server, he was awesome, attentive and fast. He welcomed us and made sure we got everything we needed, maybe he could tell how hungry we were. We have eaten at the UM location a lot and in comparison the food was exactly the same so props to them on consistency. Thanks for the southern location, I hope it continues to be an option for us when we spend out days down south.

We were very impressed at the service here. It used to be a pretty run-down place a while back and after a few years we decided to try it again and were pleasantly surprised. Bill, the manager even came out and made sure were having a good time and personally served us a GREAT cheescake! The food and prices are good but we were floored by how incredibly friendly and helpful all of the staff was.

    (5)
  • Brett D.

I had to give it a 4 out of 5 because the food was great but service was lacking. I've been here a number of times and will say they have some of the best garlic bread in Miami and pizza is good. With that said the service needs to be stepped up as soon as the girl sat us down it was like the wild west..waited a while and then had 4 different servers.. But it's a good place to grab a bite!

Ordered for delivery and got part of the order wrong. Called to have them fix it and after telling them I didn't want a store credit they agreed to send out the right meal that I still, after over 2 hours after original order, have not received. The Antipasto Salad we order was missing the cheese in it too. Pizza was ok but not good. I called to speak to a manager and the same girl who I had felt with told me there was no-one there to speak to except her. I visit the south Miami one and have never had a problem. Surprised that with such terrible food quality and customer service they are even using the same name! Very disappointed and will NEVER order from them again!

    (1)
  • Michelle B.

They do not have anything that resembles a kid's menu. They don't have milk or Mac and cheese. What kind of Italian restaurant doesn't have Mac and cheese?! The pizza is expensive and nothing to write home about. And everything else is really greasy. Don't waste your time.

    (2)
  • Catherine L.

My hubby and I order from here often. The pizza is always great! The pasta dishes and full salads are also very tasty and large enough to share. Take out is great but delivery is so-so. We have received cold or very very soggy pizza. Additionally, if ordering to carry-out, I would not order the garlic rolls until you are actually there to pick them up. They have a habit to give chewy overcooked rolls, sometimes even burnt with take out orders =( thats never a nice surprise. If they would stop this, they would have 5 stars from me without a doubt. Wait staff is friendly and down to earth. Very attentive to your needs and often going above and beyond to make your dining experience nice.

I gave this place 4 stars because of the service. I've only been here once but the waitress was so friendly and attentive. The pizza was ok, but very, very greasy. I hate that! What, you have to pour grease and nastiness on pizza instead of focusing on improving the taste? Grrrr..... Anyway, I may come here again. Thank God for the waitress or otherwise I might have (gasp!) given this only 3 stars.

Saw this place driving down the 1 and decided to try it out, I like to try local spots in hopes of finding a good spot with good food that I can frequent....unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered a chicken ceasar salad because nothing on the menu really stuck out, when I took a bite of my chicken I thought it was fish! I was hungry and don't like to waste my money so I ate as much as a could and without saying anything asked my husband if he wanted to try it, he took a bite then looked at me and asked if it was fish too! I told him I don't think so but it does taste like it. He asked the waiter and he said he's been told that before but it's from the homemade ceasar dressing....even though the chicken was put on top of the salad?? I liked the local support feeling in the place and the staff was friendly but the food was a no go for me.

The one by UM is way better, the pizza sucked, the cheese was nasty and it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, not fresh at all...

Maybe I came here on an off night, but it was bad. I was in the mood for some serious Italian comfort food. I lived in New York for a while, where I could get inexpensive and delicious Italian on every other corner, and The Big Cheese reminded me of one of my regular haunts. For years, people have been raving to me about this place, so a friend and I finally decided to make our first visit. We came on a busy night. It was a Friday, and there was a wait of about 20 minutes to be seated. No problem. We were seated in a comfortable booth, and our waiter was very attentive. I ordered a Caesar salad and a sauteed pasta dish. My friend ordered two pizza slices. And we shared some garlic rolls. The garlic rolls weren't fresh -- ours were stale and rubbery. They were slathered with undercooked garlic and olive oil, so they were greasy and had a very harsh garlic taste. My pasta also wasn't fresh. The noodles were hard and the sauce was slimy and tasteless. The chicken that came with my dish was unseasoned, and all together it was very unappetizing. My friend's pizza, however, was the worst part of the meal. I think it's the worst pizza I've ever had. Everything about it reminded me of cafeteria food. The cheese and sauce were of low very quality, and the pepperoni reminded me of the ones that come in the Pizza Lunchables. The crust was thin and well-cooked, but everything on top of it was a disaster. In the end it was a very disappointing dinner. From the reviews here, I think I may have gone on a very off night, but my impression is so terrible that I don't think I can even give this place a second chance.

We had a bad experience once with a psychotic pregnant waitress, so we ask for Joe whenever we go. He's the best. We went on a Sunday recently, not knowing Joe was off and the waitress we got was horrendous. The food is consistently good. I like the pizza here better than at the original. With subs, fries are extra, which I don't understand. Other than that, don't go when it's busy. The staff gets overwhelmed easily.

Between a 3.5 and a 4. Yelp Gods - half stars, pretty please? Anyway, on our way to the Keys, we were ravenous and looking for a reasonably priced, decent-looking place to grab some takeout. Pickings were pretty slim in this part of A1A, but we saw the Big Cheese and got all jazzed up about the possibility of sandwiches (I am sooo sick of Subway). They have a seriously extensive menu, and I went with the shrimp salad sub. The BF went with the Italian sub, fries, and our favorite indulgence, garlic rolls. The only negative - it took a really long time to get our food. I didn't even go inside - so my review is based exclusively on the eats (and the BF said they were really nice). He said it took awhile because the garlic rolls had to cook. Anyway, the food came out all nicely wrapped up. The shrimp salad wrap was flavorful and a nice change of pace for me, since I eat Subway veggie subs like 4x a week. It was also GINORMOUS. Good lord. The fries were hot and fresh. Unfortunately, by the time we ate the garlic rolls, they were cold (we finished our drive before we cracked them open), but I would imagine they'd be amazingly delicious when straight out of the oven. Definitely plan to try the original Big Cheese - always looking for a good slice of pie.

if you've been to The Big Cheese in South Miami, you already know what to expect - pure, garlicky perfection. And that's what you'll get at this Homestead location. You'll find the same menu with oversized pizzas and slices, same garlicky, parmesan-cheesy Caesar Salad, same tasty garlic rolls. YUM! One of my favorite dishes at The Big Cheese is their Walter's Special. Named after a former customer, this dish consists of boneless chicken pieces, topped with their awesome marinara sauce and mushrooms. Really tasty. Not so heavy. But if you're looking to stuff yourself, check out their steak sub. Half is plenty for me (a very tall girl) but if you think you can handle it, order a whole. The steak is pan fried in garlic and served with warm marinara sauce on the side. At least that's how I order it - then DIP away! So good. So flavorful. Seafood lovers are not left out, they can order the linguini with clam sauce, and they're guaranteed to be taking home leftovers. HUGE portion. Loaded with chopped clams in a lemony garlic sauce. Warning - you will wreak of garlic when you leave so be sure your date indulges, too. Or you may be sleeping alone!

Great pizza, nice ambiance, excellent service. The Big Cheese has by far the best garlic bread in Miami. I highly recommend this place. The only negative is the parking. The spaces are limited and I know people who have gotten their cars towed for getting impatient and parking illegally. I highly recommend The Big Cheese!

Fantastic pizza! This is real New York style pizza dough cooked to perfection, food five stars but service is usually three stars. Their sauce is the bomb. I regularly go to this locations after a My Gym trip with other moms and toddlers and the place is kid friendly with tons of wood high chairs, kiddie cups and crayon/kid menus for place settings. It is required that every time I go to Big Cheese that I get a pizza to go for my other half who grew up in a family owned Italian restaurant. Highly recommend that Ceasar Salad, yummy dressing! Of course, the garden salad with grilled chicken is a healthy option and delicious, too. Garlic rolls are better than most but the pizza is simply a must. Huge surprise to find in Homestead.

We wanted a cheap and fast pizza parlor that wasn't Little Cesars. Service was great but the pizza and rolls weren't the best. Too much for mediocrity.

Awsome Italian food! Finally in Homestead. The prices are good. They serve lots of food so half orders are good. My favorite is the shrimp scampi.

This place is like the opposite of Portofinos pizza, It looks like a dump, but the pizza is surprisingly great. The service was pretty good as well. I give it four stars because the place looks like a dump. I guess that whole area kind of gives off that vibe. I recommend this place for take out.

After patiently awaiting in anticipation for the grand opening of the Homestead Big Cheese, it certainly has not disappointed. With every new visit, the food and service has met up to The Big Cheese famous name. Tasty, Italian comfort food at its best. Love the clam chowder and bread rolls. Unlike the South Miami location, all of three signature soups are served daily. Finally, a great option for casual Italian dining in Homestead.

Great cheese pizza and garlic rolls when ordered well done. Crispy yet soft on the upper part of the crust. Probably up there on my list of favorite pizza. Cons: very loud, bathrooms could be cleaner, resturant layout allows you to hear all the server-kitchen talk.

Try their garlic rolls, they will keep you coming back for more and your cholesterol on the rise! Their pizza is the cheesiest, greasiest pizza ever, and the portions are more than generous, you will leave stuffed!

I visited The Big Cheese's brand-new Homestead location yesterday afternoon with my husband, Having only been to the original once several years ago, I had a vague idea of the type of food served portion sizes (humongous by the way!). We were seated quickly by a perky high schooler (three quarters of the staff seem to be high school age, just my observation) and a busser got our drinks and AMAZING garlic bread. This place serves Italian-American comfort food, mainly pizza, pasta and salad dishes. There was a bit of a wait because there was a confusion in the kitchen, but I chalked that up to new staff hiccups. When it did come, it was delicious (and my hubby was talked out of ordering a pizza to go when he got his enormous plate!). Can't talk about the meat dishes as of yet, since I went vegetarian for husband (eggplant parmigiana was awesome and cheesy). Overall wonderful place, and way better than the Cici's that used to be there!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
