    They never fail to satisfy the appetite. We have been consistent in coming here every time we go down to the keys.... Torta de milaneza de rez is awesome. Have it every time. (I'm a creature of habit) Hubby always tries something different. The salsas have awesome great flavor. The serving cups could be bigger but dang the best Mexican south of Georgia and northern states. The food is fresh and tastes so great. !!!! There's no other place like it except in Chicago...

    We had the Al Pastor burrito and chicken quesadilla with rice. The burrito was amazing but the quesadilla needed to have salsa added to it to taste good. Try their guacamole salsa with your food. Wash it down with a Mexican Coke. Im giving 3 stars because the wait time did discourage us, but the food made for it. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We would still come back, but maybe call ahead to order.

    The food was authentic Mexican. If it hadn't been for the other reviews, I wouldn't have even given this place a second look. It looks a little ragged on the outside, but the food was delicious. The burritos and the enchiladas are so tasty. Salsa bar is a nice touch that can be customized to your preferences. Don't miss out!

    Great authentic Mexican food! I ordered three carne asada tacos, they couldn't have been more delicious! Only complaint was this was our first time and we sat like idiots not knowing all the salsas and condiments where at a counter.

    Yes, it is authentic but...TheTortilla chips were stale. While the tacos were filled with a generous serving of meat, the meat was pre-cooked and reheated. The flour tortillas were tough and rubbery. For $2.95 each I guess you get what you pay for.

    Stopped hear after running a few errands in the area as we wanted some authentic mexican tacos. Honestly, the place is small and non-descript but the staff was welcoming and friendly. We oredered a few tacos al pastor - which were very very good. the salsas were also above average. We will go back wehen in the area and maybe give it a more thorough visit.

    This place was amazing! Authentic and delicious Mexican food. The staff was friendly and we were in and out in 30 minutes. Little hesitant at first since it was attached to a gas station but this place is indeed a hidden gem.

    If you are looking for your "typical American Mexican" type of restaurant then this may not be for you but, if you are seeking real authentic Mexican food then you will love it. I love their tacos and sauce bar, the refried beans are truly amazing. Very casual place, the downs are the ambience and the fact they play mexican novelas on the TV. We live in the keys and don't mind driving all the way to homestead for a good barbacoa taco. Personally never had experience bad service here. Give it a try you won't regret it.

    Tacos and burritos are so awesome! Carne Asada is on point, best I've had in a long time. Salsa bar is great too, especially if you love some heat. Usually quite busy but that's because the food is on point. If you speak Spanish you'll probably get better service but the food is worth it no matter what.

    Visited on the way back to Miami from Everglades national park.. Loved their salsa bar. The tacos were excellent. If I am back in the area, I will go back here. The food here has the right amount of spices and the prices are low. $12 to feed 2 people!

    Our favorite Mexican restaurant for take out. I order and 15 minutes it's ready and all fresh and delcious and very reasonable prices. I usually order the fish ceviche which for the price is a huge serving that you can share or eat over 2 meals. I get the Moreliana Sencilla (6 Tacos) for myhusband and I order him a variety. The meat is tasty and while simple it is extremely delicious. I also have ordered their Pollo a la Plancha which comes with refired beans, rice and salad. You get a huge steak very nicely seasoned and quite tasty. I also order for my son a plain chesse quesadilla which he enjoys but he likes things plain and simple. The key is that the food is fresh and very tasty but simple.Nothing is swimming in sauces or cheese. You can select from their many salsas but most are very spicy so be warned. This is not Tex Mex but authentic which is what we like. They also make their own tortillas and the corn are delicious as well as the chips (can't just eat one). This is out weekly go to take out. I get a huge feast for the family and we eat and pick through out the day.

    Taqueria morelia never fails, which I'm more than happy about that because I live in front of the restaurant. Their service is OK, which is understood because there aren't so many girls working at the same time and they're always busy. The food is great! I wouldn't call it authentic Mexican food, but it's close enough. It never fails I always get the huevos rancheros for breakfast, enchiladas verdes de Pollo if I go for lunch or dinner, and as appetizer the queso fundido. It's great!

    I'm not usually much of fan of Mexican food in the states; it's usually too cheesy or .... Just plain off. I love authentic Mexican food! There is something delicious in the "simpleness" of the authentic food. This place gets it. I'm not sure I've had a taco this good since I was last in Mexico in 2004. The service was friendly and fast. The salsa bar just adds to the whole value. My husband and I got the 12 taco meal. It was perfect.

    Thank you yelp and previous reviewers for steering us to this fabulous place. We stop in Florida City twice a year on our way to Key West and have found our new go to restaurant. My wife who is a mere 115lbs ordered 3 tacos which easily filled her up but she quickly ordered a 4th because as she said numerous times,"the chicken is so good". I ordered a dish with steak, bacon, peppers and pineapple which was amazing and was just as good with a fork as it was on a tortilla. The hint of pineapple throughout each bite brought it all together. For the kids, there was both authentic Mexican food and more typical American cuisine. They also have a salsa bar which was very good and ranged from mildly spicy to wow.

    Came over because I live in homestead and they had 4 out of 5 stars. Must be an off day. Service was terrible, she never checked on us at at all the entire hr after she dropped the food. She brought an extra kid meal. She brought 3 kids meals instead of two. Their Quesadia was terrible. My kids wouldn't eat their food and they are not picky. The one star because the guac and chips were great. We ordered flautas and steak fajita. Terrible. The place does look like you are sitting in Mexico, but I would have loved it more if my food had flavor. After we paid, we tried to give them feedback. The server gave me attitude. Never again. Worse service and experience.

    Small place by a gas station in route to "robert is here", with legit mexican. Try the beef rib meat taco, carne asada taco, and al pastor with the pineapple. All tacos are meant to be dressed up by yourself at the sauce and vegetable station. The micheladas are good, the tostadas are good, there is good service from friendly people. The tacos are about $2 each and they come stuffed with meat and avocado, pour some sauces and some veggies and enjoy.

    My boss was so skeptical when I screamed at him to STOP at the Valero gas station to hit this place for lunch on our way to the track. This place was clean, delicious and the salsa bar was mind blowing. You can also get burritos and Modelo at 10am. Such a Miami dive treat.

    This place is not much to look at and I certainly did not want to eat here. It was recommended by my brother's wife, who was with me for a day at the Everglades and she had eaten here before! Residing in the greater LA area, I thought there was no chance, no how to get good Mexican cuisine in Miami. I was wrong. The tacos are delicious. I had a few soft tacos with meat, pineapples and avocados to die for. The chorizo tacos were great as well. This place is simple, across from a gas station in an ugly shopping center, but the food and service is superb if you like Mexican!

    Here is where u should go when taco bell doesn't scratch that mexican craving. I have had the tacos, quesadillas, burritos, soups, sopes, ...it's all finger licking good! [Try the Sopes de bistec or tacos al pastor] The toppings bar gives you the option to spice it up as hot as you like it. My husband had a cold once and ordered the menudo soup ...he added habaneros and salsa verde and the next morning he wasn't sick anymore lol. Fill your plate with lime juice or pico de gallo without feeling bad for telling the waitress u want more 3 times. Lol

    Best hole in the wall taco joint I've ever been to in my life. The El Pastor and Chorizo tacos are some of the best I've ever had. You would never think to go in this place because its shared with a gas station, but it won't disappoint!

    Taqueria Morelia is an authentic Mexican hole in the wall! This "restaurant" is in a gas station in a not so nice part of Homestead. I didn't feel unsafe though, as there were a lot of families dining there. For starters, we ordered the Choriqueso (chorizo and cheese) dip. It's served with chips or tortillas. It was devine! For the main course, we ordered tacos (pork and chicken) and Enchiladas Verdes. The tacos were awesome. They were served in a soft tortilla and full of meat. The enchiladas were good, but the green sauce was a little tart. Next time, I'll take the waitresses advice and try the red sauce. They also have a bar full of various sauces, peppers, and salsa. I deducted two stars for the service, which is painfully slow! It took 15 minutes to place our order, 30 mins to get a glass of water, and about 45 mins for the food to be prepared! Still a good choice though if you are in the area!

    I came here with some friends who said the ceviche is better than at my usual place. I didn't have high hopes because, well, it's next to a gas station. Don't judge a book by its cover! The ceviche blew me away. I went back and had the alambre sencillo. Delicious! I took away one star because the seating is uncomfortable during the typical lunch hour. Luckily for me I have a non traditional lunch schedule!

    Great salsa bar. Good choices on menu but we must have made poor choices. The cheesy chorizo dip was good to start with. But the cheese enchiladas were sprinkled inside and out with cotilla a Parmesan-like cheese and green sauce. Sort of expected them to be melty cheese. Pretty sparse. But there were 5 of them. Alhambre with steak and such was okay but greasy. The server had a strange set of priorities. The meal with drinks and tip was almost $40 for two. As a former resident of Mexico, my expectations may have been too high. Perhaps this was good Florida/Mexican food - but not so impressive to me.

    By far the worst experience ever!!!! Came with the family from Miami craving Mexican food. We have been here several times.Food was horrible at its best, however service was much worst. Waitress tried to over charged, when asked to itemize the bill her actitude worsened. She went as far as calling me a Bitch!!! Spoke to the owner who was very apologetic, however I will never come back!!!!!! Please beware!!!!!

    So good! Made the trek to homestead after hearing so many good things about Morelia. I loved the incredibly fresh guacamole which must have been mixed moments before it came to the table. My tacos were fantastic and complemented perfectly by the fresh salsa and pickled bar.

    Holy cow!!! The tacos come out hot and loaded with meat. Their suadero seems to be short ribs and are wonderful. When you sit at the counter you get a little boat of small chips and an empty dish for the salsa bar. There you'll find a great mix of pico, traditional guac/salsa, a couple spicy reds, cilantro, limes, pickled peppers and more. Service is great and while the tacos may seem a little pricy ($2-3 each) the salsa bar and chips more than make up for it. Stop on your way to the keys or Everglades....a great refresher to be sure.

    It's really disappointing to go to a restaurant that has amazing food with horrible service, it took 15 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us that we were there , it took 15 minutes every time we asked for chips to be refilled , the female waiter looked like she didn't want to be working that day . HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE Very disappointing because the food was great and this place was recommended but the service from the waitress was a nightmare! Wish we had the service with the male server he seemed more attentive and friendly .

    Great prices - check. Friendly service - check. Large portions - check. What more can you ask for? Yes, this is the proverbial hole in the wall and I had my doubts, considering it's attached to a gas station. For those who don't speak English, you will be relieved to find that the staff speaks English as well. The best part? I FINALLY found a hot sauce that is acceptable to me, as most hot sauces are a joke. Apparently the hottest Mexican sauce at the restaurant is the only one that will do it for me and I am glad they had that option for us hardcore hot food addicts. My friend's mouth was on fire and he immediately gave up on it. I poured it all over my chips and my main course and even added some cut up scotch bonnet on top. Yum! Yes, there is a sauce bar for the complimentary corn chips, so whether you want salsa, jalapenos, or some of their hotter options, you go here and fill up a container to bring back to your table. The waitress recommended the alambres as a main course and I was shocked about how much food I got. I could barely finish it even though that was the only meal I'd had that day (I didn't even have room later on for dinner!), and I don't think it was more than about $10-$12. It consisted of chunks of steak, green pepper, pieces of bacon, onions, and melted cheese, and it brought tortillas so that you could make your own tacos with it. It was delicious, although seeing some of the bacon grease left behind on the dish made me feel guilty, but it was a guilty pleasure. I had never really had "authentic" Mexican food, but this place seemed very authentic and like it could have come straight out of Mexico. Until you try an authentic place like this though, you haven't had real Mexican food. It cannot compare to your average Mexican restaurant in a touristy part of Miami. I wish we had a place like this up north around the beach or near downtown, it'd be very popular with the low prices and authentic, good eats. If I'm down in Homestead again and in the mood for Mexican, you can bet I'll be stopping here again.

Love the sauce station, they have a lot of spicy sauces...one day I will get to try them all! Very casual atmosphere, by a gas station, it's not the Ritz Carlton, but the food is great!

    My husband and I were headed to Everglades National Park from Miami when we realized we were hungry. We quickly yelped to see what was nearby & found Taqueria Morelia. While I normally have a policy on not eating at restaurants sharing a building with a gas station, I decided to throw caution to the wind. We shared an order of 6 tacos. The best of the 4 varieties we tried were the chicken and the chorizo. The salsa bar was nice & the pico de gallo and salsa verde were oh so tasty. We wish we had something like this near our home.

    Thank you yelp! Great Mexican food! Surprising location next to a gas station but the restaurant was very clean, great service and delicious fresh food. I had the tacos al pastor without pineapple and the carne asada tacos with rice and refried beans. Both were very good with great flavor. My husband got the tacos al pastor w/the pineapple, I wasn't crazy about the sweet taste but non the less it was good. The pico de gallo was very fresh and I think my husband and I ate a bowl full.

    Ok food, hostile, unfair service. I speak Spanish, but spoke English during my visit. I was charged $2 each for extra little cups to hold salsa, while the Spanish speaking couple next to me were offered free cups, and extra salsa when they left. You have a salsa bar, what does it matter how many cups you have? I only asked for extra cups to try the different kinds, not milk your hole in the wall for extra salsa. And why does the Spanish speaking couple get as many cups as they want? Maybe I you speak Spanish, go check it out, but if you are a US English speaking tourist, you would get better service at TacoBell down the street. Truly awful service. Came there on recommendation from the Travel Lodge. Was so upset with the experience actually complained to the hotel and recommended they remove them from there map.

Both were good sized portions and we were also given a small bowl of chips. We thought the prices were great for the portions served. Also the salsa bar is no joke.     This place is legit. Bonus points because it's part of a gas station, DDD-style. I like real Mexican food. This place has real Mexican food. They have real pastor, con el stick and everything. That's not easy to find in the US, let alone south FL, beside a gas station no less. I had a burrito, and for the price it was one of the best burritos I've had. The pastor was on point as well. The GF had tacos, and while I generally avoid chicken tacos because they're dry, shitty, cop-outs in the US...this was a chicken taco to write home about. It's one to call your mom to brag to her about how awesome your meal was, and she's the one that keeps complaining that "authentic" Chi-Chis went out of business (be honest though, you miss that fried ice cream). Seriously though, you have to go here. it's a kick-ass place with great food, great salsa bar, great everything, other than the hospital-quality atmosphere. I just wish they were open later.

    Like a lot of other people I was skeptical of a Mexican restaurant attached to a gas station but all of the food that we tried here was fantastic. Three of us tried their tacos, guacamole, ceviche and a stuffed pepper dish whose name I can't recall. I can't say anything bad about any of the food. There's also a salsa bar with lots of great items to dip your chips into. Service was fast and extremely friendly and the prices were quite reasonable.

    Wow, I normally don't give 5 stars the fist time at a place since I think consistency is the key to a 5 star rating. However, this place is awesome! 3 of us went there after a day of biking in the Everglades, needles to say that we were tired, hungry and thirsty. Food, excellent it is the tastiest Mexican food that I've had in a long time, the portions were huge, we wolfed down our plates with enough to spare. Salsas, excellent, from mild to super hot and a fresh fixings bar made this location muy bueno. Cerveza, I seldom drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos X, stay thirsty my friends, the coldest beer ever!!!!! Price, excelente! 3 meals and 2 cervezas 27 bucks! Say Whattttt???????? yep 27 buckarulos. :-) I am so going back. Now this is no fancy schmanzy place, it is very humble, adjacent to a Valero Gas Station, it is for the local Mexican immigrant community, it provides good, and inexpensive food for the local community, but, it is incredible.

    We called in here for lunch on our way to the National Park. Tacos were great. Chicken and chorizo were our favorites. Even my somewhat picky 10 year old was happy with the carnitas quesadilla - according to him it had delicious white cheese and wasn't spicy. Perfect for a tasty lunch. Reasonably quick service.

    Visited yesterday on my way to Key Largo, and I was not disappointed! The service was very good and very friendly even though I had never been there before... Went especially for menudo, usually served on the weekend. It was perhaps a little greasier and spicier (without adding anything) than the menudo served in Mexico, but it was really delicious and comes with either corn or flour tortillas. The small bowl was very filling, but I had ordered a tostado with "suadero" (tender cooked beef, something like pot roast) to be on the safe side :) It was excellent with its crema and sliced avocado... This place has a first-class salsa bar (wish I could post the photo), not something I see that often around here. You are given a small porcelain bowl with your small bowl of chips. I was perplexed as there were so many choices and there were lids for small plastic cups available near the salsas. I asked about it, and the young woman serving me looked equally perplexed but gave me one more. Then when my meal came there were some small plastic cups with it -- apparently for adding more condiments. No shortage, no hoarding -- just the way they do things. It was A+++ all around and I have been to many taquerias in FL, CA and Mexico! PS: You have to spend $10 to use a credit card.

    I have eaten here many times. It is small and the menu is limited, but everything is good and the portions are large. Of the Mexican restaurants in Homestead this is my favorite in terms of good food. There is only one person who works in the eating area, so it can be slow at times. They only serve beer and soft drinks.

    this was once my favorite place to get some Mexican. The carne asada tostadas are so tasty and relatively cheap that they make a great snack before a shake at Robert is Here or driving into Everglades National Park. Everything is well priced and well done. The staff is very sweet and attentive, please leave them great tips because they have a world of patience when it gets slammed. the wait for your food is eased by their nice little chips and all the fresh salsas you get to shovel in your mouth like a savage. good job.

    Good Mexican food. Notice I said Mexican not Tex Mex. Don't get it twisted. There is a difference. Al pastor is my favorite and these people know how to make it. They have a bar area set up where you can pick your salsas and sauces and that is great. But you have to take your plate up to the bar to get the sauces. You can't use their little to go cup/containers because they will yell at you literally. Very small location next to a gas station and parking can be hectic.

    I came here on the recommendation of Robert C. It was also very conveniently right down the street from where I was working that day. It's co-located with a gas station so you can miss it if you aren't looking. Inside was very clean and bright, completely devoid of cheesy fake Mexican decor on the most part. I sat down and ordered a Horchata and 3 tacos; Carne Asada, Carnitas, and Al Pastor. The Al Pastor was very good, the Carnitas were OK, but the Carne Asada tasted like it sat in a refrigerator a little too long and was flavorless and off putting. Fortunately the Al Pastor made up for it, and I'm sure my experience wasn't the norm. Future reviews will tell. I'll give it another try next time I'm down there.

    Completely awesome in every way. Traditional tacos al pastor, huge burritos, real quesadillas (queso fresco n some cheeeeezs in a corn or flour tortilla, folded in half, unadorned), a bar full of pickled veg, fresh salsas and accompaniments (like sliced radish, YES!). The chicken taco was braised, pulled, and so dang tasty I licked my fingers. I, friends, do not typically lick my fingers. The beans were also delicious albeit just a tad too salty. It's a little 'sterile' in terms of ambiance (white counters, a couple tv's up on the wall, cafeteria tables), but the food totally compensates for any lack in 'environs'. Service was pretty quick, too. This is legit Mexican that reminds me of hitting up the taco stands in Puerto Vallarta, or my favorite taco joint of all time, Tacos y Beer in Acapulco. If I can strategically make my way to Homestead at least once a month, this place is on the list. Don't miss it - it's tacked on to the end of a gas station as other Yelpers have mentioned.

    Took me months to find a good Mexican restaurant in South Florida but Taqueria Morelia finally satisfied my cravings for authentic Mexican food at a great price. The restaurant is small and attached to a gas station but it is clean and, most importantly, the food is great and at a good price. The tacos and tortas were delivered promptly and the salsas available at the salad bar were absolutely wonderful. The habanero salsa, in particular, really hit the spot. The carne asada used was fresh and juicy and the portions were of a good size. It'll help if you speak Spanish but not a necessity. I would be a frequent customer if it wasn't so far away from my home. I will, however, definitely make it a point to stop by anytime i'm in the Homestead area.

    Went for a ride down to Homestead on a Saturday and especially picked this place to have lunch. Small place but it was spotlessly clean, with really nice waitresses, who helped us choose since it was our first time there. We shared a ceviche that was to die for. My husband had Cheese Enchiladas in red tomato sauce. I had a quesadilla on homemade corn tortilla and tacos al pastor.     This place is authentic... How authentic you might ask yourself. We stopped in on a Sat. night for dinner and we were the only gringos in the joint. Every table was full, but the service was great. The portions are huge and the prices very reasonable. The home made salsa's are very tasty. I personally liked the guacamole based one and slathered it over everything that I ordered. For app we had the Chorizo with cheese, it came served with a couple of tortillas. For dinner DD had a queso quesidilla, I went with a Chorizo burrito and DW had pollo enchiladas. I should have probably ordered a different filling for my burrito because between the app and my meal it was def. chorizo overload. DW liked her meal and DD ate most of hers as well. It's in sort of an odd location, on the end of a Valero gas station a couple of blocks off of Rt. 1 South. They also do take out. Oh I almost forgot, there are a couple of TV's in this place and if you've never seen the movie Titanic in Spanish you really don't know what your missing.

    We stopped by on a Sunday after a trip to a fruit tree farm with the family. We are hispanic and REFUSE to be duped into bad Mexican food b/c we know the real deal can me amazing. At Taqueria Morelia, we got the real deal---100% AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD. Everything we ordered was delicious. Nice & clean. LOTS of take-out business. Amazing fresh salsa bar. Service with a smile.     Best taqueria in Homestead. Don't worry that it's attached to a gas station. It's clean and the food is authentic and affordable. Only Mexican restaurant in Homestead I've been to that was actually packed with Mexican families eating there too. As a Cuban, I wouldn't go to a Cuban place where the food wasn't as close to grandma's cooking as possible. I trust my Mexican hermanos do the same. After all they aren't lining up outside Taco Bell!

    Forget about toro taco and the known mexican spots. The food is authentic, the menu is simple and you can see little mexican hands preparing your food if you sit on the counter facing the pickup window.. Its unpretentious,reasonably priced and close to robert is here. Nothing dissapoints me. Chorizo, carnjtas, al pastor.....you can slather on as much of their homemade salsas on your food and go walk off your fattie guilt at Rober is Here and feed the farm animals. Make sure to order a tostada, that salty crumbly cheese and mexican cream are great if you want a quick snack.. Or as an appetizer.

    And so, we continue our exploration of Homestead's most delectable Mexican eateries. Following in the footsteps of other Yelpers, I decided to try this place on for size after we spotted it on a rambling drive. I was immediately bummed they don't serve guacamole - only straight up avocado. :( Sadness. But it was uphill from there. I went with veggie fajitas - onions and peppers only. The homemade corn tortillas were quite lovely, and made for yummy little pockets of Mexican goodness. The crema they serve is some concoction of theirs. It's flavorful, but with my fajitas I think I prefer straight up sour cream. Service was totally friendly and nice. We left satiated and content. I'm sure I'll be back. Now on to the next!

    Arrived about an hour before they closed and food was just bad. Three meals and all three people did not enjoy their food. The meat seemed old and not fresh. Live music was very good outside but too loud; we had to play on our phones b/c we couldn't converse. First time there and staff was very nice.

    This gem hides on the edge of a strip mall beside a gas station, and comes the closest to authentic Mexican I have found in Florida. This is not to be confused with Tex-Mex, which I also love, but genuine Mexican cuisine. It may not look like much, but this carries the flavors of central Mexico straight to your palette. They are also remarkably cheap! I recommend getting a bunch of different sorts of tacos, as they should make you extraordinarily happy.

    Great food. I had al pastor, and it was the best Mexican food I have tried in South Florida. Barbacoa is also really good. Prices are very good also. Their salsas are delicious and spicy, as they should be. The restaurant, while not fancy, is very nice and clean.

    Well I'll be. I finally found a taqueria that I can honestly say is as good than the taquerias in Mexico. I've spent a considerable amount of time there and my parents lived there for over a decade each and everyone seems to be in agreement: the food here is as good or better than in Mexico. Everything is absolutely incredible. Everything is done with a precise expertise that can only come from generations of learned execution. Try the tacos al suadero if you want proof. Who does rib meat like that? No one. No one captures that juiciness and that unique, fatty, and salty flavor so well. The tacos al pastor are REAL and are in fact only the 2nd real tacos al pastor that I've had in the United States other than the ones I had at Taco Mix in Spanish Harlem in NY. It's slowly spit fired and left to simmer in juices, onions, and pineapple. The carne asada is absolutely incredible. The alhambre is incredible. This is authentic Mexican at it's finest. The interior is no nonsense, casual, and practical; exactly the way I like it. The people are extraordinarily kind, helpful, and friendly. If you're in South Florida, this is the go to place for real Mexican food. I have to disagree with Robert about it not being a safe area or as he called it, a "shady" area. The only reason it would be shady is because there are trees around, not because you're in any kind of danger. It's just Homestead/Florida City in a typical rural road. Nothing to think twice about.

    If the food is more important than atmosphere, I'd recommend this restaurant. Because it is walled off, the gas station part doesn't really bother unless you are looking for pleasant surroundings. Clearly authentic Mexican with local laborer customers, we were a bit self conscious as "gringos" who don't like food really spicy. however the waitress cheerfully made us welcome and explained our mild to spicy choices on condiments bar and inbetween wait duties she was industriously keeping front area clean and neat. Best of all my husband's shredded beef burrito and my pork burrito were large and delicious. Also enjoyed the authentic feel that included a lively music video on one TV and news on the other. I'm pretty picky about restaurants so we were really pleased with our food and experience here.

    Any enjoyment of the food vanished when we had to wait over an hour for our food. To top it all off, the waitress finally came over after an hour and ten minutes to say she was sorry it was taking so long, but they have a lot of take out orders and it would still be another 5 or 10 minutes. At this point we decided to stay because if we went anywhere else, we would of had to start over, and we were starving. We felt that people who call in are more important than customers that come out to eat with their family. We won't be coming back.

    This is currently my new favorite in Homestead! I would recommend you stick with either Tacos al Pastor or Carnita Tacos. If you go with a group, try the Familia (or Family) Taco platter which consists of 12, 3 of each I think. It's not fancy and the location is not the prettiest, but definitely worth trying at least once, who knows, you might love it! I ride my motorcycle here on weekends and also eat here when visiting our beautiful Everglades National Park just down the road a bit. Try it, I think you'll enjoy it.

    I love this place!! They probably have the best tacos in South Florida in my opinion. They are every bit as good as the tacos I have had in West Texas, New Mexico and even Mexico. The Al Pastor tacos are my favorite. The two times I have been here, the place was clean and inviting. I don't speak Spanish and have had no issues ordering. Also, I have to agree with Dan, the location isn't that sketchy. I'll be a regular here for sure.

    We had the tacos and they are great. Lots of variety port, chicken, beef, steak, etc. Very simple presentation which works wonderful. A flour tortilla, meat and a slice of avocado. They have a salsa bar with 6 kinds of salsa and other toppings you can add yourself. Service was friendly. They have a full menu but if all you get are the tacos you won't be disappointed.
