Sonic Beach? Yup, we are keeping it classy in South Florida. This Sonic is nice, the sit down area is not wide open so not everyone driving by can see you munching on food, plus there's SAND! They have some alcoholic beverages in the sit down area, but last time I went I just didn't have it in me to leave the comfort of my car. We ordered and paid, typical Sonic-style. I do love seeing the staff on those roller skates, it reminds me of a 50's movie, every single time. Service was prompt, and everything was good as expected. I gotta say, the chili cheese tots are like the perfect salty combo to a milkshake. I love their options of shakes, and the slushes are good too! Sometimes you just have that Sonic craving, and it deserves some attention. This place does it right.

I always enjoy coming here. The food is pretty unique and great and the half priced milkshakes . The food deals are pretty good bit a little bit pricey. My only complaint is usually it takes them a long time to get even small orders to my car or to me at the drive through.

I absolutely love this place. It doesnt matter whether you drive thru, drive-in or sit at their patio. The service is promt and the food is amazing. The first time we went for some desert after a huge family get-together for the holidays. We took the teens/kids and packed into the cars and came to their patio. We all had a variety of shakes, malts and ice drinks. Everyone said what they odered was good. My husband and I shared a milkshake. it was a LARGE and it was bigger than his head! I wish I could say we didn't but we definitely did...we devoured that whole thing...just thinking of all those liquid calories....but so worth it! For the next few weeks we came back once or twice to try other menu items. We learned that sonic isn't just a great place for milk-shakes/icecream...it is a great place for fast food. PERIOD. Everything we ordered was delicious. The burgers, the chilidogs, the taters, the corn dogs....there was nothing we didnt like. i will go back everytime! Thanks Sonic....

Last Sunday night driving back from marathon we stopped for my favorite thing an orange cream slushy and cinasnacks, had to go through drive through witch is never good ! Please fix the dam speaker system the server could not here me and had to repeat myself 5 times !! The car in front of me had to fix there order 7 times !!! Took forever, then they took longer at window watching bags go back and fourth due to incorrect items. And of course they couldn't make my slushy because machine was down :( then they gave us ketchup !!!!!!! To go with cinasnacks ! Ketchup !! The girl working the window was not to nice or, don't think she liked Caucasians very much, that's the attitude I felt.

I'm not from the area but compared to home this Sonic was not so great. Service was slow and my French fries were cold. Needed a quick meal before we hit the road, I regret our choice.

Yes. You are reading it correctly. They are putting beaches inside of places now. It's a new thing. Want a beach front restaurant? Congratulations. If you put sand under the table, TA-DA, it's a beach. My a$s! Still the same old Sonic, and let me tell you--these burgers are a point of major nostalgia for me. As an only child to a working Mom, I knew my way around every fast food chain and cheese tots were like a food group in our house. But there's no way around it--this place is lack lustre at best, with startling weird (read: manic) service. Avoid it unless you sit in your car, order a 72oz limeaid (the only reason for the second star) during Happy Hour and zoom away. As far as your Honda will allow.

  • Wideleine D.

Customer service here is not too good. In order to get any attention you have to either be rude or trip someone. You get to the restaurant and you don't know where to order because there isn't anyone behind the counter.

    (1)
  • Green L.

HIT OR MISS! Their shakes are pretty good. The food is ok. Not good, not bad, just ok and if the employees sold there gold teeth they would not have to work at Sonics anymore, since they always seem so unhappy to be there.

    (2)
  • Alexander P.

No matter when i come here their milkshake machine is broken or they have run out of the popular items.... The drive thru sucks, n the wait in the stalls is ridiculous... Its good for maybe a once n a blue moon but nothing like the usual fast food chains

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I went during my lunch break with my family. They had someone pressure washing the floor the entire time I was there. It took the server 25 minutes to come and take our order because she was inside eating (we saw her through the window). The food was delicious but the service was ridiculous. Can you pressure wash before you open the patio ? Will never eat here again

  • Robert C.

for fast food, they get 5 stars. they have one particular combo i usually get. it's always great. the sandwich prep is consistent, the lettuce isnt nuked, the chicken is hot, and the fries are always fresh. the drive through personnel are always friendly. sonic makes me happy and i drive past a wendy's, mc'ds, BK, and subway to get to it.

  • Landy G.

Love the food here but wish the place was indoors. Eating outside can feel a bit dirty at times when there are bugs flying around your food. However you can always Park at the drive up areas and eat in your car if preferred. Employees are always super nice & friendly.

    (4)
  • Jesse L.

Place was pretty cool. Only have tried Sonics when I lived in Cape Coral. The outside scenery is pretty cool and the service (dine in) was pretty good as well. Our food was hot on delivery to our table. I had a footlong hotdog with chili n cheese, tator tots with chiki n cheese and hey, they serve beer to.

    (5)
  • Junie L.

I like their environment when dining in, but when I order on the drive thru they religiously mess up my order its a simple tater tots or fries but its just annoying when it's always the same thing. Other than that I'm in love with their blasts.

    (3)
  • Bailee C.

Great atmosphere. Yummy food. They Serve beer/wine. During this trip I thought I heard a child yelling like a horse who just got it's ass pinched. When I looked it was a group of sonic employees in the corner screwing around. When I ordered a Sam adams the employee (with a rather disturbing, poorly done tattoo in her neck) said "a what?" Other than the hella rude employees, this place is nice!

    (3)
  • Jordan T.

It's pretty sad how most of my reviews are negative. If there's one thing I've learned since I moved here, it's that good customer service is SO hard to find. The food here is just like at any other sonic of course. But the people are extremely rude. Complete opposite of going to a sonic up north. The drive thru girl throws the food at you and doesn't say one word. You don't need to kiss my ass, but at least say hello to me before you throw things through my window.

    (1)
  • TamEra M.

I just like the slushies. But this place could've gotten 5 stars when I was preggo eating their greasy ass food. But now that I'm back to normal uh, no. Y'all getting 3 stars cuz I like my slushies and the drive thru moves. I'm not a fan of the food much although I will order the tater tots every blue moon w a slushy. Shoot, I can make my own dang hot dog and hamburger at hm!

Sonic Beach is has one of the best burgers in the world and in town.I went to Sonic with the family I had a burger fries and a Milkshake extra thick and was absolutely delicious great place to eat out at.

After many years of being taunted by the commercials: "Sonic's got it.. others don't!", we finally have a Sonic within reasonable driving distance. Sonic isn't new to Miami, it's just been 20 years since the last one was in operation.. and it wasn't that good anyway. The new Sonic is a bit different from the others, the franchise owner decided to make it a little more seating friendly with the "Beach" idea. Nice outdoor furniture and umbrellas, sand at your feet, and TVs to keep the little monsters entertained. This location is supposed to be the first of 4 under the Sonic Beach name, the others will be closer to our neighbors to the north in Broward. Since this is a new thing to most Miamians, it is going to be very busy for a little while.. So either brave the lines or wait it out until things are a little less crazy. So is the food good? Yes, the burger and onion rings were very tasty; especially the onion rings. The RT44 Cherry Limeade I ordered was a little lacking in flavor, but I chalk that up to being a really big drink and the people pouring it haven't quite got the right mixture just yet. When I wasn't happy with my first one, they gave me a whole new one and let me keep the old one too. Needless to say, service is good. Speaking of service.. I still find it amazing that they can carry your order out on roller skates and not have everything fly up into the air! Now I'd be really really happy if we could get In N Out Burger franchise here... Yeah, I know.. fat chance.. Oh well, Sonic will do just fine for now.

  • Leah C.

Don't waste your time. My order took forever to come out and the food looked stale. Prices are good and they serve beer. I like the eating area because of the sand and TV's I like sonic just didnt have such a great experience here.

I move to homestead a year ago and was excited that a Sonic was close to my home. Their burger are good BUT always cold. Love their Milk shakes and other goodies but they need to work on getting those burgers to their paying customers Hot, burgers and not meant to eat at room temperature!

    (2)
  • Bridgette T.

Absolutely disgusting. The only highlight is the shake. Service was slow and food was cold. There are more employees than patrons, that should have been my first red flag. Very disappointed it does not compare to the Orlando Sonic

    (1)
  • Michelle C.

Retro. Nostaligic. Chicks on rollerblades. Carolina pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw on a chibata bread roll. Onion rings. This is why you should come to Sonic. But most important of all... CHILI CHEESE TOTS!!!!! (order with grilled onions.) (I have successfully replicated at home, great party pleaser.)

Welcome to your nearest Sonic Resturant down in Homestead! I went here because of late night craving. A group of us went to here after going to the Winery. I would suggest ratting before you go to the Winery. It's really cool to see people rollerblading around! I felt bad afterwards because it has to be killer on your legs. However, they were in fantastic mood! They were super polite and helpful. Since my friend was throwing up. They brought her water and extra napkins. They even helped us by bringing us cleaning products, since she throw up got inside of the car. I would LOVE to come back--especially since they still tater toots and corn dogs. They have a great deal menu! Better than McDonalds and Burger King! I just wish it was closer to my house!!! :(

  • Chris C.

Thick properly made chocolate shake, that alone earns them 5 stars for me. Now when I say properly made, I mean vanilla ice-cream, milk and chocolate syrup. On top of that they have damn good burgers, the fries are taste and they serve coke. The drive in part is just icing on the cake for a car nut like me. For those who partake in carbonated yeast based beverages, something like 20 different kinds of beers if you go to their sitting area.

This sonic s. place it's very nice & clean .. And the best part it's that they serve beer. N wine

After always seeing the Sonic commercials and never actually having the opportunity to try it....I finally did. Yesterday after a long day of canoeing and kayaking in the Everglades National Park, we stopped at Sonics on the way home. The restaurant overall is clean, the environment is nice, everyone is friendly and the experience is awesome. You have the option of dining in or in your car. Since we were all dirty from our adventure we chose to dine in the car. Their selection of food is very broad considering its a fast food joint. They have hot dogs, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps, French fries, onion rings, tater tots, grilled cheese, an entire breakfast menu, and the list goes on. It's kids of like a mini Denny's just better. It was 7 of us in the car and surprisingly the order was correct, out in 5 minutes and they were pleasant. Only forgot a milkshake and and a kids drink, not bad. I ordered the phillycheeseteak and it was ok. The taste was yummy, however I felt for the price it was quite small and not enough "cheese" for a "cheese"steak. The fries were done just right. My husband ordered the double bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and I have to say it was the better choice. It was juicy, fresh, and the onion rings were DELICIOUS. The kids chicken strips were crispy and tasty. For the price you're suppose to get two strips per meal and it felt like they gave my them 1 strip, if that. The kids did enjoy their slushys. The whole experience was great and it was cool seeing your food being served with some chick on rollersskates. Food was good, a little pricey, but will definitely return to experience the inside area which has TVs for sporting events and serve alcohol.

My son wanted to go get hotdogs from Sonic after watching their commercials in TV. The nearest Sonic is in Homestead about 30 mins from where we live. The only time I had been to one was many years ago in our way to St. Augustine, FL. The drive thru was quick, excellent customer service. Food is okay, I have had better hotdogs though. The shake was too thick that after driving back home(30 minutes back) I still could not drink my shake through the straw. This is probably an every once in a few years visit, at least for my family. Not the healthiest either.

Being a very big Sonic fan, I was psyched when my husband took me there for dessert on out trek up from the keys. To be honest, this review is based only on the consumption of a tasty milkshake and a 15 minute visit. What's cool about this Sonic is that the outside is a sandbox, hence "Sonic Beach." Also, they serve alcohol! I am anxiously awaiting the next time I can try out their food.

First rule of Sonic Beach... Tip your car hop. What's a car hop? A car hop is the girl that brings you the food when you order it when you park in your own little space when you don't want to sit on the sand. Second rule of Sonic Beach... You will need to go more than once to enjoy all it has to offer. From popcorn shrimp to mozarella sticks to the scrumptious tator tots to the great burgers and dogs and you cannot forget the slushies. Ohhhhhhhh the slushies! They even offer a low calorie drink flavor for those of us watching our sugar intake. : ) Your probably wondering why the heck you would be at a Sonic if you are watching what you eat huh. Because sometimes you just need a break. When they first opened the lines were insane but they have calmed down now. The sad thing is at night its usually bumpin and then when you drive a little down the street there is a McD's and it looks lonely because there is no one there anymore. Doh! So i am happy that there is a Sonic like 5 minutes from my house now. Wohoo!

I love Sonics but this was my first time going to the Sonics in Homestead. I must say I was not pleased with my experience here at all! First, they didn't have any cheesecake bites. Second, I ordered ched 'r' peppers that come with ranch sauce. However, they didn't include it in my bag. Third, I ordered a Supersonic bacon double cheeseburger. The burger was super dry and had pieces of pork in it. It also looked squished. Lastly, the lady took my order wrong and charged me for an extra burger. Smh

FINALLY! I get to try Sonic!!! It feels like I've been watching those commercials forever without a Sonic within a decent driving distance. When we arrived it was PACKED... Seems like its quite a happening place Saturday evenings. The line for the drive-through was around the corner and all the drive up ordering stations were occupied. We decided to just park and go sit in the patio area. You order your food in the front at a host/hostess podium thing and then you find seats until your meal is ready at which point a waiter/waitress will shout out your order number and when you raise your hand, brings it to you and charge you. I gotta say that I'm not really a fan of the way you order/way you pay here. Its a strange mix between having waiter survive and not.. (Reminded me of Fuddruckers). The food, however, was delicious. No one in our group was unhappy with their choices and ate up every last bite. My burger hit the spot and I loved that I could get tater tots instead of fries. Love tater tots!! All in all it was an enjoyable experience but I doubt I'll be coming too often because its still quite a voyage to take. If they built one a little closer to Miami then I'd be there quite often, I presume. Come on Sonic people.... build one in Miami!!! Please!

Great new concept to an old favorite... However this place BLOWS GOATS when it comes to customer service. What is really a ripoff are the $6 mixed drinks that are served to you in a cheap plastic cup that reminds me of being at a kids birthday party drinking punch. AVOID ANY alcohol from this place until they decide to make it worth your while, and not rip you off. I judge places to eat in 3 areas and whether I would eat there again, or recommend it. 1) Value 2) Customer Service 3) Taste This place MISSED ALL 3! They failed at all 3 of my criteria on places I look for in a restaurant. You better hope, that you don't get "Alphonso" as your waiter. You might as well go inside to the kitchen yourself and help yourself. This guy was more interested in talking to his friends that came up to see him, text messaging on his phone, and watching the Football game on TV, rather than providing customer service.

Worst burger in Homestead, Fl. I went here for lunch and it was busy but not crazy busy. My burger was lukewarm and the fries were stale and soggy. I was very close to returning my meal but I was limited on time. It is always a bummer when you see that photo of the burger on the menu and then you get a piece of crap wrapped in a bag. I rarely eat fast food......NEVER AGAIN. I'll spent my money at a Mom and Pop place before I eat Sonic's corporate junk ever again.

The drinks and dessert are the only good things at this sonic. I tried the Philly cheesesteak one time and barfed. Stick to slushies and sundaes.

Sonic Beach is different from your typical Sonic's because it has a sandy area with beachy tables to eat at. This is a fantastic idea to me because I always like to feel like I'm at the beach and I hate the smell of food in my car. There was a really long line to eat in your car on the Sunday afternoon that I was there. Easily 20-30 cars long. I guess it's part of the experience and you need to do it at least once, but after that go ahead and get down from your car and eat your burger without worrying about ketchup and mustard stains.

I'm super glad this finally opened in MIA, I got sick of watching the commercials and being tempted to to drive to Naples to get some Sonics. A friend and I went around 10-11pm. We decided to sit instead of ordering from the car. I had the Asiago Caesar Chicken Sandwich, which was really good; I also had the old school cola float. I have no complains about my food. The people who worked there took slightly long for everything and didn't exactly speak very professionally, but then again it was like 11pm I probably wouldn't be super perky and excited to be working that late. It was also freezing and these people had to wear shorts, I felt bad for them. The chicken was well cooked, the bread was soft and tasty, but their ketchup was frozen. that float was AMAZING! Besides the frozen ketchup, my trip to Sonics was super worth it :)

I really don't see the big deal with this place. The shakes are the only good things at this sonic.

I love the milkshakes here. The carhops are super nice every time and your order is always the way you want it. You can't go wrong with a cherry limeade and a super sonic double cheeseburger with bacon.

Well definitely nothing like their franchise partners to the north. The one I have been to in pompano are friendly, clean and very service oriented. The one in Homestead is dirty, staff is ill mannered, very forgetful and food comes out cold. Place plain sucks! They should call it SUCKIT not SONIC.

Love the food here but wish the place was indoors. Eating outside can feel a bit dirty at times when there are bugs flying around your food. However you can always Park at the drive up areas and eat in your car if preferred. Employees are always super nice & friendly.

  • Junie L.

I like their environment when dining in, but when I order on the drive thru they religiously mess up my order its a simple tater tots or fries but its just annoying when it's always the same thing. Other than that I'm in love with their blasts.

for fast food, they get 5 stars. they have one particular combo i usually get. it's always great. the sandwich prep is consistent, the lettuce isnt nuked, the chicken is hot, and the fries are always fresh. the drive through personnel are always friendly. sonic makes me happy and i drive past a wendy's, mc'ds, BK, and subway to get to it.

Absolutely disgusting. The only highlight is the shake. Service was slow and food was cold. There are more employees than patrons, that should have been my first red flag. Very disappointed it does not compare to the Orlando Sonic

Retro.

Miamians have wondered for over 15 years what the Sonic experience is all about. Often times during televised sports games, a Sonic commercial would come up. Friends and I would discuss how cool the idea of having 50's like service would be in this era. How when you drove-in people on rollerblades come and take your order. Well I can lay that dream to rest now. Homestead got its taste of Sonic this past week. As the fast food chain opened a new restaurant off the Campbell expressway exit and 152 Ave. Driving by on Monday's opening day the place was packed. So I decided to wait until the middle of the week. I went on Wednesday instead, and it was pretty packed at 2 p.m. I waited in line for about 40 minutes, while there were only 11 people ahead of me. The service was slow, but I also saw that there were over 30 cars waiting in the Drive-Thru lane and the about 15 others parked in the Drive-In section. When it was my time to order I ordered the number three: SuperSONIC bacon double cheeseburger, medium fries and a medium soda. The burger has 1,370 calories, 860 from fat, and 96 grams of fat. For something that is so harmful to your health, it is definitively not big. The fries have 330 calories, 120 from fat and 13 grams of fat. It all came out to $7.49 with taxes. I ordered the biggest and most unhealthy burger, because those are the ones that usually taste better. Most things with cheese and bacon taste good, especially with fast foods. While sitting there waiting for my order one can't help, but admire how much effort they have put into this store. They have 10 large flat-screen television sets in the front, open sitting area. The TV's are usually set to sport channels and different news networks. They also have oldies music blasting through the concealed speakers set around the open eating area. I waited about 10-15 minutes before getting my food. This was to be expected since it seemed half of Homestead was going to eat here. Once the food arrived, I opened the bag and noticed that the bacon slices were rather small and that they put a small amount of lettuce in my burger. One thing I did like was the fact that they placed individual slices of cheese in between each patty. This is where my dream came down to a scratching halt. Once I bit into the burger, I noticed that there was nothing really out of the ordinary about it. Maybe I was hyping it up in my mind. All the years of seeing the commercials, and wanting to eat here, but never could because of the distance. The beef tasted a lot like a McDonalds' beef patty, while the rest of the burger was more like a Checkers/Rally's burger. The fries were ok, too. Nothing really stood out about them either. I was hoping to try their milkshake, but decided I'd had enough fast food for the day. This place gets 5 stars in design. The flat-screens, plus the sofas and the design are just great. Sadly, the food taste did not blow me away like the restaurant's structure and design did. The food gets 2.5 stars. The number three is eatable, but nothing to drive a long distance for. Service was pretty decent. The girl who was my server never came back to check if I wanted anything else or any other condiments. The Good: 1. Place is pretty awesome and could become a hangout for those who want to see sporting events. 2. This Sonic is actually pretty and has different accommodating sitting areas. 3. Their menu also has hot dogs, shakes, fruity drinks, and ice cream. 4. They have two dine in areas and one Drive-Thru. The Bad: 1. Taste, it's just ok. I was expecting a lot more. 2. Price does not justify food quality and could be a bit cheaper.

This place sucks. First time I went there a couple months ago, it was amazing. I got a chili cheese coney and a cherry limeade and I couldn't believe what I was missing. Then after that first time, I don't know what happened. It was horrible every time I went there again. I live 2 minutes away so I went there about once a week, not anymore though. Food was never as good as that first time. Every time I ordered a chili cheese coney again, the toppings were smashed into the wrapper or dripping off. They also stopped putting cherries on cream slushes and shakes. This is ridiculous to me. Why do they no longer do it? I'm pretty sure they have plenty of cherries. When they hand my drink to me, I always have to request cherries now. Also, the way they make drinks is inconsistent. First time I ordered a fruit slush, it was slushy and amazing, then the 2nd time, it was like a sno-cone, nothing but snow-like ice. Nothing like it was before. But the last time I went there really put the icing on the cake. I ordered a blue coconut slush, and at the window the girl tried to hand me a cream slush. I politely corrected her and she pulled the bitchiest face I ever seen and threw the cream slush into the trash and made me the right one and corrected the total. She didn't say a word to me except the corrected total. What was her problem? It's not my fault she didn't get my order right. Also, how in the world is it better to throw away product in the trash instead of just giving it to the customer? I had someone else with me in the car. They could have drank it. Yeah, I won't be back. I was fooled too many times. Literally the only thing good here is the cream slushes but I'm not sure it's worth it. Also expect to wait like 20+ just in the drive thru alone regardless of what time of day it is.

New in the area, just moved to homestead from Kansas. To start off, it took ten mins to get our order in because there was nobody out there in the beach area, then when we finally ordered the waitress was wearing the smallest slutty shorts, i was surprise they even let her work there with half of her ass out, and when the food came out my burger was cold and my husbands beer was warm.....warm beer? really? terrible experience. and I do love sonics. such an great experience everytime i would go there back in kansas. Crappy exprience here.

If you are a Sonic fan, this location will disappoint! My family and I used to live on the West Coast of FL and when we did we frequented the Sonic there. After moving to Homestead it was a place our child definitely missed going to, so when they started building he started a countdown.... sad to say he and the rest of us were very disappointed. We have been a few times in hopes it would change but it has not... the food every time has been soggy and overall is just not the taste we remembered. In our opinion the only thing this location is good for is their shakes, if that.

I've been here a couple of times already and my experiences have ranged from average to incredible. I wish consistency were not a factor that I have to worry about when coming here, but apparently it is. The first time I came, the burger was sub-par with less than stellar vegetables, dry beef, and unmelted cheese. I know this is not the norm of a Sonics burger because if you've ever had a good one, you can probably agree that these burgers are one of the better fast food burgers on the market. Other times though, I've had great hotdogs, decent mozzarella sticks, stellar tater tots, and wonderfully sinful milkshakes. If this place got its consistency down, they'd see me more often, but sometimes I'm just not willing to make the drive to Homestead for a hopefully good meal. I need to be assured of it. By the way, most people usually overlook their breakfast burritos. This is a grave mistake, since these are probably the best burritos in the fast food market. I highly recommend them.

Gross. Thats all I have to say. Just kidding! Seriously though, why do people come here? Why did I come here?! Because I was feeling adventurous and the hundreds of commercials looked promising. I had been warned by others that I would not like Sonics, and I should have listened. My mother, sister, and I pulled into their drive-in (one point for that because it is pretty cool and retro), and decided to try something simple...nothing too crazy. Just onion rings, a hamburger, chicken tenders, and popcorn shrimp. We were so disappointed. The chicken tenders sucked. They were bland and lukewarm. The popcorn shrimp tasted like something I could've bought at Winn Dixie (and this is a double insult because I hate Winn Dixie) from the frozen food section. And the hamburger was just blah. The onion rings were okay, but our standards weren't too high anymore. The only thing we actually liked was their Ocean Water. That was very refreshing. So, we left disappointed and with upset stomachs. Bottom line- the only thing Sonic's has going for them would be their drink menu...and maybe their rollerblading car hop chicas. The next time I see one of their 'Sonics has it, others dont' commercials, I'll recall everything they DIDN'T have during my visit and will just change the damn channel.

Just as good as any sonic nothing special. The only difference here is that they really OVER salt their fries and tater tots! yuck!

  • Matthew O.

I have been to 10 or 15 other Sonic locations in my 40 years of life and this one is by far the best. It even beats the Sonics in New Mexico that serve green chili cheese burgers. Here's why: they serve beer. Burgers go with beer much better than syrupy slush drinks. Good job Sonic. The crazy thing about this particular Sonic location is that it is the hippest possible place to go in Homestead. One can draw two conclusions from this statement. One would be is that this is a really good Sonic and the other would be that Homestead is a really crumby town. Both are true.

  • Frank E.

Went here one night with a friend of mine, its nice having a sonic closer than north palm beach but this place just does not deliver on what the commercials make me think I'm going to get... The food is ok, nothing worth writing home about, honestly unless your ordering special things like chili cheese tots their food is probably on par with other fast food places (although some other fast food places are probably better) This place is good for their mixed sodas and shakes, and even those were kind of disappointing, had the cherry lime aide and while good, it wasn't drive 40 minutes good... service was ok when we went, it was late, not terribly busy

  • Kendrick F.

Been here a few times and I can honestly say I'm not too impressed. This is my first experience with Sonic and I'm not sure if it's this location or that Sonic is just over rated overall. Their food is mediocre at best. I dig the tater tots and hot dogs but I thought I'd like them better. Another thing is that's food is pretty inconsistent sometimes it comes out okay and other times it's bland and tasteless. The one thing that they do well at are the drinks and milkshakes. And they have a happy hour with the drinks in the evening that are half off. They call this location Sonic Beach and even have sand in the dining area outside which is weird because instead of the ocean you have a view of Campbell drive. Coolest part about this Sonic and maybe its saving grace is that they also serve beer here! And decent beer too such as Holy Mackerel Ale! But ultimately when I'm craving fast food, Sonic is pretty low on the list.

Just the fact that there is a Sonic in Miami now makes it a 5 star experience for me. No longer do I have to plan a road trip to Boynton Beach to get my slushy crave satisfied. I was shocked to see the humongous line one week into the opening of this location, but I think it just goes to show just how much Miami was ready for Sonic. My husband and I opted to walk to the "beach" area where they have a sandy covered patio with tables and chairs. While there was a small line, it moved fast and even with the crazy crowds the staff were upbeat and happy to be giving us a quality Sonic experience. We got some hot dogs, chili cheese tater tots and of course slushies - seriously we are so addicted to slushies we got one for consumption on the spot and one each for the road :-) I will be back soon for sure but I am giving it some time to let the crowd die down a bit.

After many years of seeing commercials for Sonic in Miami and not being able to go indulge in one of their delicious looking creations, the day is finally here! Sonic Drive-In is open is South Florida! The question is, was it worth the wait? Well if you've never been to a Sonic before than YES! If you have been to a Sonic before then you might be slightly disappointed...and I mean ever so slightly. This is not your traditional Sonic as you might know them from other states. This iteration in S. Fla. is "Sonic Beach". If you were to go to the regular Sonic website this location doesn't even exist. You would have to go to sonicbeach.com to find out any information. Since this is not a traditional Sonic, it is missing some of the menu items from other Sonics. I went in looking to have the Chicken Club Toaster that I used to eat in Texas and none of the toasters were on the menu. They still have a lot of the good ol' Sonic stuff though...so don't fret. They still have all the wonderful drinks like Cherry Lime-Aid, they have the delicious Sonic burgers and of course it wouldn't even be a Sonic if it didn't have the foot long chili cheese Coney. I'm not sure if they are going to expand the menu considering it just opened and they were still setting things up (they were unloading a huge truck of supplies across the street). Considering it just opened and people have been anticipating this day like it's Christmas, the lines are astronomically long! If I had waiting in the line of cars to dine in the drive-in I would have been there for at LEAST a good 30-45 minutes. I parked across the street and walked over and placed my order to go and ate it in my car. Doing this still took a good 20 minutes between waiting on line and waiting for my food. I know the lines are going to die down...you just have to give people time to get over the initial excitement. All in all...I'm very glad that Sonic has found its way to South Florida and I'm looking forward to see where they go from here.

A complete disappointment to say the least. Waited about a half an hour in the drive-thru lane just to place my order...was told that they had run out of fries! Ordered onion rings in lieu of the fries and was charged for them as a separate order (ordered a combo). Then was told I was given a 50 cent credit for the fries. I finally received my order and was completely disappointed by the greasy and tasteless onion rings that left a film of oil in my mouth. I also ordered the pulled pork sandwich...yuck. Will not be back.

Having lived in Texas for the past 12 years with several Sonics around to enjoy, I was happy to have come across Sonic Beach! Although it's a bit of a trek for us, we do it because we need to get our fix every once in a while. I love the outdoor patio with the sand and comfy seating. If you have not tried Sonic, go ahead, you will be BACK!

Where do I begin? Sonic's opened up about a month ago or so, yesterday my boyfriend his buddies and i were in the neighborhood so we decided to check it out and see what all the fuss was about. We get there the line for the drive in is horrendous the line for the drive thru is also horrendous, so we decided to park and sit outside where there are tables and chairs and umbrellas and sand. We find a spot and sit down only two realize after some time that no one was coming over to serve us and then noticed a cashier at the far end corner of the restaurant. So my boyfriend and his friend's go they place their orders while i saved our seats. One of our friend places his order first he orders a beer, but they don't have any, then he orders a drink with a shot of syrup and they don't have the syrup of his liking so he finally settles for a burger and soda and chili tots. I ordered a hot dog and coke with vanilla etc etc. Our food comes to our table after some time our other friend's food also arrives, and the one who placed his first order still hasn't received his food. so we wait and wait and wait...and ask the people who brought our food they just answer with oh it'll be out soon. Then we ask someone else and get the same response. After an hour of waiting for our food and after the rest of us finish eating, he gets up and asks the person who took his order in the first place, he then just shrugged and said i don't know about that you just gotta wait. At this point my friend is upset...very upset and he straight up asked him "hey are you being serious right now or are you just being an ass? Ive been waiting for my food for over an hour and nobody seems to care at all." Eventually I too get up and approach another young girl who was standing there staring at the rain ( most of the employees were doing the same) I tell her they gave me and my BF the wrong drink and she goes to replace it. She comes back my drink was fine my BF's wasn't it was still a diet coke we tell her what happened with our friend's order and just shrugged and asked well do you want it now? We told her NO that we were leaving and left. Bottom line everything is extremely disorganized the food is no big deal our drinks that everyone raves about came out wrong anyway so i can't judge. Next time I'll go to Checkers or McDonalds same food better service. Management needs to get it together because seriously after the hype subsides i don't see this place lasting a very long time. It's too much of a mission to go through for a fast food burger and fries (or tots but who loves tots that much anyway all they do is bring Elementary school cafeteria flashbacks) I'm giving them an extra star only because they just opened and maybe they'll get it together, they just need to get rid of some of those incompetent employees.

I don't know what the rave is about.... well maybe because one Sonic finally made it to Miami-Dade yet is is so out of Miami that it is quite a drive. We went here because we were visiting my brother and sister in Homestead and I have eaten at other Sonics before. This one was just the same as any other Sonic. The food was bland. I tasted my husbands and his Philly was better than my grilled mushroom burger. The fries were a huge dissapointment. I don't know if it is because they are so brand new and they had a lot of people to service, but I don't think this is on top of the to go list any time soon.

Finally! After years of local commericals teasing us, there is a Sonic near Miami. I know this location has been open for some time now but I finally ventured out to Homestead and could not resist eating there. It pains me to say that it was just OK. Nothing special. We waited a little long for our food, they forgot to include my ranch sauce, and gave us some random breakfast sandwhich that we didnt even order. I know they were busy as almost all the spaces had cars in them, but still, they seemed a little out of it. My slushie was good, as always, and for $1 (small size) its a great deal for a nice sugary refresher. I tried the sweet potato tots and they didnt do it for me. Perhaps I am in the minority, but I was not a fan of them. Maybe if they had a cinnamon butter dipping sauce? I dont know. I'll opt for something else next time. The snack size popcorn chicken was great. They are sized nice and there is plenty for a light eater in the snack size. Much better than KFC popcorn chicken. While this visit to Sonic was less than stellar for me, I will definitley be returning. Who doesnt love Sonic!? I just hope my experience is better next time!

well from all these horrible reviews i seriously thought that this place would be horrible worser then worse LOL , since i ALWAYS go on here to read reviews before i go anywhere!! but on the brightside i ENJOYED myself alot at this SONICS. and the SERVICE WAS GREAT !!!! i mean, its nothing fancy or upscale its fast food but i loved how the place is setup and the guys (carhops) working there were very attentive and super nice and looked like they enjoyed what they were doing. the lady that took our order spoke very clearly & when the carhop brought our food in literally less then 10 minutes i was really surprised everything was delicious. especially the cheddar poppers,& my snickers blast was so good :)!!! but this is not a place i would regularly go to since its 45 minutes away from my home. but if i lived closer i would FOR SURE be there all the time its like MacDonald s 5timesssssss better ! and an ice cream place all in one !!! yawl SHOULD go try it OUT !! its an experience too since you drive and just sit and can take your time to order !!!! but my carhops weren't in roller blades ?!??!? LOL other then that SUPER GOOD !!!!

Great to finally have a Sonic in the area! Incredible TVs on the patio - I sat and watched in the shade while I ate. Food was just what I wanted and a the diet Cherry Limeade was as good as I remember. I'm looking forward to going back!

Really zero stars. Horrible. Nasty. Sad. Drove 75 miles round trip from home to try first Sonic in Miami-Dade County. Thought it would be a treat for my wife on a sweltering Saturday. We arrive to a full house -- long drive thru line and we get last space for curb service. We press the button to make our order: "We'd like 2 jr burgers well done cheese, ketchup, mustard only; one jr burger ketchup, pickle, mustard only; one large tots & a large Coke zero." Reply -- fries or tots with the jr meal. "No junior meals in this order" (I repeat same simple order, clearly) Reply -- that's 2 regular size Sonic burgers with everything, all as combo meals, etc. "NO" (I politely repeat or very simple order of 3 burgers, 1 side, 1 drink) Reply -- That's 2 junior burgers with everything plus cheese and one without cheese as a kids meal. NOOOOO! (this time, I curse the person under my breath....my wife hushes me up and for what seems like the zillionth time, I manage the composure to repeat or simple order with -- gasp -- a little bit of customization of burger toppings at...a freakin' burger joint...imagine our nerve. Reply -- More or less got our order right this time, but ignored our pleas for well done. Seconds later, roller skating kid arrives with our food (we know the order has to be wrong, with this speed despite our asking for specific topics -- not all the crud that comes on a deluxe burger). My wife instantly stains her new sun dress with all the lettuce, tomato, mayo and other goop that came on her burger against our repeated orders. My stuff has everything I didn't want, but does have the cheese at least. We sent the stuff back to the kitchen and explain we're willing to down our tots (nothing special) and drink while we wait for the kitchen to get things right. Our server says "they are retards in there" and rolls back with our burgers to get them done right. 10 minutes later, I get my burgers (with what I ordered -- shock) but they are as gray and heat lamp de-flavorized as the crap they serve in a high school cafeteria. My wife's burger has quadruple mustard (which also spilled on her new dress & drowned out the flavor since it had way too much mustard). Despite the mess it made, I am jealous because at least her half bottle of over applied mustard drowns out the taste of her equally gray, flavorless burger on a mediocre bun. I eat around the edges of each of my two burgers, downing the equivalent of one -- before getting so grossed out that I pitch the rest in the bag. My wife, who has to down a certain amount of food to go with her pills, so she attempts to digest the entire mass of gray, tiny flesh engulfed in mustard. The roller skating delivery kid, who again sympathizes with our plight, gets a healthy cash tip -- can't blame him for the idiots in the kitchen. The credit card machine doesn't work for us and it takes him 5 minutes to perform what should be a 20 second slide the card transaction. We drive away -- vowing to never waste our time, cash, gas money or taste buds to this foul purveyor of alleged drive in food. I seriously thought about going on-line to complain -- but what good would that do? I don't want a $10 gift certificate to return to food that skeeves me out while eating it and gives my wife and I the runs by the time we drive the nearly 40 miles back home. I could have sworn I enjoyed a Sonic burger while traveling out west more than a decade ago. Has the brand collapsed, or has the Homestead branch -- overwhelmed by fools like us who trooped all the way down there to eat crap -- dishonored an otherwise decent burger joint name??
