I must say I've traveled all around the US and back again. Pizza has never been one of my favorites till I found this place First off iif there was a pizza version of "CHEERS" this would be it. The owner and " head chef" there is Mike if he's not behind the counter tossing pies up in the air ( which is epic cool). He coming out making sure everybody has what they need and catching up on the day to day lives. The food there are 3 things I usually order here wings rolls and pie . They make the best garlic anything. The GARLIC PARM wings are amazing but only by a little more then the TERIYAKI GARLIC wings. The wings are crispy and cover with plenty of super fresh garlic and magic (I'm convinced it's that). Seriously when the garlic mixes with the Teriyaki or parm it absolute perfection. Warning you will need napkins . The rolls you can get the garlic rolls with or without cheese. I choose without .....with the amount of garlic they give you on these rolls the cheese is simply not necessary. Made fresh to order in the same oven the pizza made in. (I'll get to that later) The Pizza!!!! Everything is pretty much made to order and any doubt is removed when u see Mike the Pizza Papa hard at work throwing pies in the air. My favorite pizza is probably the simplest one they have .. The garlic pizza made fesh and to order.. Seriously you may need nore napkins from the amount of drooling you do just smelling and seeimg it . You know already about the garlic and all the ingredients are superfresh to make it your way. If you have a request or if you like your pizza a little different. Just walk right up and ask him. Honestly they make it perfect so I never mess with perfection There no window no secret back room just a counter that you can see from anywhere in the establishment. You and your family can even watch it cooking through the window of the oven which again is pretty cool.and awesome. Good food and pizza does not need a fancy name or huge floor space to be good. It's just needs a lot of love and passion for food.. Son of a Pizza is where you'll find just that

First time visit tonight, went with some friends and it was good. In my opinion, not the best in the area, but good. We sat at the bar, got our drinks fairly quick. From our seats we could clearly see Mike (owner/operator) making the meals fresh. He even came over and introduced himself and shook our hands. More of a sports bar "feel" to the place than anything else. Garlic knots for an appetizer were excellent. The Stromboli comes in two sizes....medium and large. The medium is huge! Filled with about 5 different meats, onions, olives .....as the menu said, everything but the kitchen sink. I thought it was a little bland, but salt and pepper flakes took care of that. Friendly service and ice cold beer.

First of all the service was good; a bit sluggish in the bar area but once we moved to the dining room, no problems. But when it comes to the food I was not impressed at all. Started with the famous garlic cheese bread; a true mess made of grease and garlic. Ordered a white pizza with meatball; the meatball was simply sliced gyro meat. Very unauthentic taste with plenty of grease to go 'round. If your looking for authentic pizza for the same price, I would highly recommend Portofino's. Try the meatballs!

Heard some commotion about this place from friends and the food people I follow. Can't complain food was awesome. Their menu has the garlic rolls with () saying unbelievably and for good reason cheese covered garlic rolls finger licking! The pizza was really good the fried cheese was really good the Cannoli where really good lol EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Its where the old Beef 'O' Brady's was in homestead so the restaurant is of good size. Great for family outings and groups big tables. The waitress was really out going and nice. She smiled through the whole interaction.

Totally legit pie in a good blue-collar atmosphere in Homestead. For lunch (or even dinner) it's easy to feel fleeced or skeeved out in the Stead, but Son of a Pizza does not disappoint. Pizza is NYC, and the dough is made with care in house. Marinara is also homemade, but quite sweet. In short, the food isn't the best I've ever had--but the service probably is. That and the mahi Caesar salad and craft beer on draft is more than enough reason to sneak in here for a lunch.

amazing pizza place from beginning to end! We had a very nice and down to earth server as well :) we started with the cheesy garlic rolls then got a medium pizza and ended dinner with fried Oreos!!! DELICIOUS!!!!

What a little gem! We were in the mood for some pizza while returning from Islamorada. I checked the reviews and the honest ones were correct. We ordered the cheese, garlic bread which was lovely (a bit of oil but hey you not getting the healthiest of options=) Super yummy, we also followed it up with a vegetarian pizza which had the right amount of crunch, super thin and was very yummy. (States had extra cheese, which I will have to beg to differ, they are a bit light on the cheese) although I really did not mind since all the ingredients were great!! Will be back when in the area! --- To comment on some other posts about service, I am not sure if they came when it was super busy, or different staff, although out sever was on point and was always available, and they had a great happy hour, buy one get one free!! Can't go wrong... I think some of the lower reviews may be competing pizza companies who are jealous!!!

Our family will never go here again. The poor waitress was over overwhelmed for the amount of tables she had to attend too. We order the garlic breads took 40 mins to get served the pizza was tasteless -Very disappointed pizza lover!

  • Noslen N.

Went for lunch last Thursday had medium pizza half cheese half meatball and garlic drinks were served quick but they took a little long to take rest of our order I can't believe there's a couple craft beers on tap first place I see in homestead with that 2 thumbs up on the beer anyway the pizza was pretty good. But it was a little heavy on the sauce but pretty tasty definitely will go again just can't believe I haven't gone sooner

We had the garlic rolls with cheese and the Deluxe pizza...loved everything! Service was great too! Can't wait to go back.

This is an old family favorite. I have to admit, I haven't been here in over 20 years, but when I took my first bite of pizza all of those memories came flooding back. I took my son for the first time because he is a self-proclaimed pizza expert (he is 11). Instantly he fell in love. He loved being able to see Mike (The owner) hand toss the dough that was going to be the bed of his favorite toppings. We also ordered garlic rolls (which also come in cheesy garlic rolls, where they are baked with mozzarella on top) that are "garlic knot style". There have been some menu upgrades since the last time I was here (and after 20 years the core menu is the exact same). The lady next to me ordered the Dolphin sandwich (it looked so good that it made me think twice about what I was going to order). It hasn't lost its family owned feel. We will definitely make the trip to Homestead regularly to go back.

Recommend this place to everyone. Food is delicious and staff is awesome. Will come back again and again.

I absolutely loved everything we had here. We started with some Medium Garlic Parmesan wings and they were to die for. They were meaty, cooked perfectly, and don't need any sauce. Then we had their garlic rolls and they were yummy. Small, but tasty. And lastly we had their Deluxe pizza not was delicious, all the ingredients are cut finely, so they cook through very well! I'm definitely coming again!!

    (4)
  • Chrissy W.

We ordered take out from here this evening. The pizza was good but not great. The wings were excellent. We ordered the hot wings with garlic and Parmesan. While we did not eat at the restaurant, we went to pick it up and the place is a really cute family sports bar. My husband and I definitely want to go there in the near future to catch a game and try some of their other menu items. Overall a nice place with a good vibe.

Awesome pizza and service! Garlic knots with cheese are tasty. Wife and I split a pepperoni pizza with meat ball on half of it. Crust is crispy yet soft also.

  • Robert C.

i truly love this place. staff is friendly, the owner is pretty much always there which means he runs a tight ship. so far i have had the wings, white pizza, pepperoni pizza, and ceasar salad. all have been great. the pizza itself is almost like traditional NY style but cooked in a hot air oven. makes for an interesting crust. lots of locals hang here so it's common to have wait staff greet folks by name.

Just ordered two slices for lunch, one with extra cheese and one with anchovies. Am having a fruit punch drink cause I'm on duty and can't have any alcohol. Hostess is a 10. Meal review is pending, so far so good. So im back to finish review, their price point for the lunch meal was fine although the slices were small they were incredibly tasty and I left feeling hungry.

Been coming here for lunch almost everyday. Ice cold beer with decent selection(Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire, Sweetwater, Stella) and good pizza. Mahi mahi sandwich is incredible too. For homestead I think os the best pizza place followed by good ice cold beer (again). Saw the pasta today it looks awesome, will definitely try it next. Very friendly staff.

    (5)
  • Benjamin S.

Great food. Pizza has that great pizzeria old school taste to it. Fresh and huge! Staff is friendly and efficient. Second time here definitely coming back. Only reason I didn't give all five stars is the seating isn't that comfortable. Ok for a quick dinner but if you are here a while would be nice for better chairs. But NOT a reason to stay away. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place has great thin crust pizza, the sauce is yummo and a bit on the sweet side, the garlic cheese rolls are wonderful! Very simple menu and very casual and clean-- they play to their strengths and so glad we found our pizza spot now that we've moved to Homestead. ....Been here twice now and we'll be regulars here for sure :)

Oh im so happy i have a great pizza location near our new home. I ordered my pizza over the phone and it was ready in 20 min. The pizza is awesome. Their pepperoni are the big ones thinly sliced and the sauce is very tasty. The inside of this pizza shop is very spacious and it has some arcade games for the kids at heart. If you watch sport they have tvs on the walls and a bar area.

    (5)
  • Rocco D.

Nice people, clean and the atmosphere is above average for a sports themed bar / restaurant. The food is also better than I expected

    (5)
  • Rick L.

I ordered pizza and rolls to go. Unfortunately it was just not to my liking. Rolls were tiny and pizza was really not good. Bland, greasy, too thin, not enough cheese.

  • James M.

Well, Son of a Pizza Pub in Homestead Fl is a loud eating establishment, at least on Friday night at 7ish. Similar in noise level to a typical Friday's Restaurant. More of a family style, open seating style. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. Michelle. Although the time from being seated to the piecemeal arrival of our meal was way too long. 1 slice of Pepperoni pizza was thin, greasy and very good. The lasagna was fair, would not re-order it. The wings were very good, we selected plain with blue cheese and hot sauce on the side. The hot Italian sub was the star here! Will definitely re-order that guy :). I don't care for eating and having a noise level so high that you can't have a normal talking conversation, guess I'm just old. Cannot give a higher rating for that reason.

    (4)
  • George H.

We were there on Super Bowl night so it was pretty busy. The owner makes the pizza and I watched him worked his tail off this night. We and a half veggie and half white pizza...tasted great with a pitcher of Beer.

  • Lizette G.

Omg the pizza here is amazing. The crust is to die for. I recommend the garlic rolls with cheese and the white pizza with meatball topping. Yummy!!

  • Nico L.

Can't tell you enough how great this place really is! The service is incredible, servers as well as owner remember you from day one! Food is incredible, however my favorite is the pizza and garlic cheese rolls! There's a bar as well as a dining room, so you take the kids or just hang out with friends! Mike Page the owner has got himself a winner here!!!!

  • Patrick O.

Pizza took forever to get to us and when it did there was water dripping off it. Sloppy and soggy $18. They gave me $5 off the meal. I left the rest of the pizza there. Disgusting. You have been warned do not eat here.

Wow! What an amazing find! Ingredients were extremely fresh tasting. Do not be turned off by the strip mall location. Definitely a repeat visit. Dare I say, we might never go back to Big Cheese?!?

The best garlic rolls in Homestead and beyond. And their pizza is pretty darn tasty, too. This place is where the old Beef O'Brady's was located, in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center off Old US1. Worth coming for. I've had their pizza, Sicilian style ($3 extra) and really enjoyed it. A little greasy on the top but nothing a napkin can't correct. The dough is awesome! And that is what makes their garlic rolls so great. These are delightful, garlicky, olive-oily bites of Italian wonderness. Just wait till you try them. Yes, they are better than Big Cheese! Seriously. Get by the half dozen or dozen, with cheese or without. I'd get a dozen. We also tried their antipasti salad (good tuna)! They still have the bar area with a few seats, three tvs, and the small gameroom. They have sub sandwiches hot and cold sub sandwiches like ham & cheese, turkey, veal parm, chicken parm, tuna... Cold beer on tap and sweet tea. I'll be back! Oh, and they have lunch specials!

Good prices. Good thin(ish) crust pizza. Unfortunately used canned mushrooms.

I am upset this place has been here for almost two years. I have been eating sub-par pizza and wings at other places around Homestead when I could have been going to Sun of a Pizza. They have the best wings in Homestead. The pizza is as good as any pizza in south Florida. The prices are fair and the service is great. One of my new favorite spots in town.

  • Javi S.

I found this pizza joint by accident. I walked into a nearby Shakeys pizzeria and the stench of rotten water as you walked in with a combination of an empty dining area gave me the idea to look elsewhere for a pizza night. That being said, I resorted to my trusty yelp app and found Son of A Pizza with a pretty good rating although only 8 reviews. I ordered two large pizzas and a dozen garlic rolls. They offer two styles of crust a traditional thin brooklyn style crust and a little bit thicker crust which is not quite full pan but thicker than the thinner crust. When we took our first bite, boy were we wowed. They used fresh, large deli style peperonis which were very tasty. The cheese and sauce were also fresh and full of flavor and the dough was nice and soft but yet crispy at the same time. It will definitely be my go to pizzeria when i'm at my pops house (HOMESTEAD) which is very far from my home. They offer delivery, which we did not do, we opted for take out because we were cutting it close to game two tip off for the Miami Heat. The location can also prove to be a great place to watch games because it is full of TV's and they air sporting events. This may prove to be a great place for fantasy football, when the time comes we will evaluate!

Boy, this was a surprise for me as this is not my part of town. But upon recommendations of my Co-workers for dinner...."Let's have pizza!!!" I said, "'aight". In a low down, just a strip mall, nothing fancy, "what d'y'all want" atmosphere, I find 5 star service. Yay!!!! First, the logistic of eating here is a challenge with the dynamics of my group. The waitress was well versed in the necessary flexibility (point for her). It will be 7, no wait - lost 4, ok, make that 3 for now, with 4 coming soon ----- darn, 3 out the door as 4 pull in. That 5 star service, not only rolled with the punches but put the hustle on when the moment counted with a BIG old smile on her face. The pizza maker was charming and accommodating. Taking a moment to apologize for the delay "cause I made you a new pie, so it would be fresh." Ohhh, bless his heart. Big hug!!! The rolls are all that and I ate way more then my allotted share. The pizza itself was good. The potential for being great is there, but just a smidgen of TLC could make the topping fantastic. With a little effort, this place could stand equal or better to Frankie's or Steve's way farther north.

Wow! I ordered a white pizza with Meatballs added. Incredible flavors. My mouth kept tasting the ricotta, the crust, the garlic, the olive oil and the meatballs. Each flavor was individual and melted in my mouth all at the same time. The crust by itself is possibly the best I've ever eaten. 10 stars delicious!

Pizza took forever to get to us and when it did there was water dripping off it. Sloppy and soggy $18. They gave me $5 off the meal. I left the rest of the pizza there. Disgusting. You have been warned do not eat here.

Nice people, clean and the atmosphere is above average for a sports themed bar / restaurant. The food is also better than I expected

I ordered pizza and rolls to go. Unfortunately it was just not to my liking. Rolls were tiny and pizza was really not good. Bland, greasy, too thin, not enough cheese.

We were there on Super Bowl night so it was pretty busy. The owner makes the pizza and I watched him worked his tail off this night. We and a half veggie and half white pizza...tasted great with a pitcher of Beer.

Omg the pizza here is amazing. The crust is to die for. I recommend the garlic rolls with cheese and the white pizza with meatball topping. Yummy!!

Wow! What an amazing find! Ingredients were extremely fresh tasting. Do not be turned off by the strip mall location. Definitely a repeat visit. Dare I say, we might never go back to Big Cheese?!?

  • Jacquie N.

Best pizza in town! Great service and the staff is friendly. Their pizzas are great (pepporoni and bacon are what we tried) and their pastas are amazing (ravioli).

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
