    I've been coming to this restaurant with my family for many years and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. I truly do enjoy eating here! Pros: -Fresh salsa (yum) -I love there shrimp soup, it is very flavorful and delicious. I also always order the mixed seafood rice for two, (except I ask for more calamari and skip on the crab legs); I share with my mom. Once again it is very flavorful! (Cumin) -Also, there shrimp ceviche is delicious! Cons: -Pass on the oysters, not good at all! -Micheladas (Sometimes good sometimes bad no consistency) -They don't sell horchata ! Overall, I love coming to this restaurant when I'm craving a flavorful dish!

    Tried this spot today and cant say it disappointed. Had good authentic mexican plates. Food had good flavor,well cooked and nice presentation. The staff was polite and friendly very quick with our order and drinks. I tried the Mar Y Tierra which consisted of steak,chicken breast and bacon wrapped shrimp with cilantro rice and salad. The food was pretty good i enjoyed the flavors.

    Good find on yelp! We were driving to marathon from Miami and stopped by this place for lunch and glad we did. The free chips and salsa was so fresh and delicious. We had the guacamole, shrimp fajita and this seafood dish (forgot the name but see picture) and all delicious and very fresh. The portion size is huge so be warned. Their margaritas were great as well. You can tell this is where the locals eat. Great find

    After an amazing afternoon enjoying this beautiful weather we decided to try something different for dinner. The kids wanted Mexican and I was in the mood for seafood. A quick search on yelp revealed Puerto Vallarta. The reviews weren't bad and it appeared to have been in business for a long time, so we decided to give it a try. The location is great, easy to get to, with slightly awkward parking. When you walk in you find exactly what you would expect if you read the yelp reviews, small, colorfully decorated, like your typical Southeast Florida Mexican restaurant. When seated we were immediately served chips and a great pico de gallo/salsa which was served straight from the fridge, very refreshing. The chips were crispy and fresh. I had a dos xx, the baby had an apple juice, and everyone else had water. The drinks took a while to come out and we never were asked if we wanted refills. For dinner I ordered the seafood soup as it had been recommended by a few here on Yelp, we also ordered flautas, some fish tacos and ended the evening with fried ice cream. The soup had an exceptional flavor in the broth but did require as one Yelper suggested lime and salt to really give it the right touch. All of the seafood in the soup tasted fresh and was cooked right. The fish tacos were okay, not great. The fish had a nice flavor but once the tacos were put together they were really lacking something whether it be salsa verde or any type of salsa; maybe even just a little extra spice to the fish itself. The hot sauce placed on the table is a smoky habanero sauce that really is not good at all. The flautas were just average if that. The fried ice cream was what you would expect from a Mexican restaurant. Not great, not horrible just your average four dollar dessert. Overall it wasn't a horrible experience but the food was just not good enough to give it more than three stars or warrant a return visit. The seafood soup was good but wasn't good enough to make up for the rest of the items we had. Will stick to Guadalajara, El Rancho Grande, and Taqueria Morelia.

    Amazing! A little hole in the wall. Apparently all the locals know about it. Cheap and Delicious! Those two words never go together. Especially when describing Seafood. Very Fresh! The Pico de Gallo is the best, can't get enough! Can't wait to come back. The Service is pretty fast for one girl handling a full restaurant. Go to Chili's and see how long they take. This is by far the best I've had in a long time! Well worth stopping by!

    First time here. It was great! Everything tasted really fresh. Chips & salsa arrived quickly after we were seated, drinks followed. Started with the Taquitos on the Grill appetizers. Ordered two entrees Enchiladas Verdes & the Combinacion de Lujo. Had to try the fried ice cream for dessert. This restaurant has $$ and for the price I thought it was pretty good Mexican food. The service was very good and the food came out relatively quick. The couple next to us had the fish tacos & fish soup - they said it was great. Definitely worth trying if in the area. Enjoy.

    This small quaint restaurant packs some punch. For beginners the salsa and chips were fresh and the guacamole is superb; full of flavor! The fish tacos on corn tortillas were good, wish it would have had some kind of delicious vivacious sauce to take it a notch up. However the seafood soup is excellent the spices in it make this soup delectable!!! Only complaint is that the calamari is cut too large and way too tough. The fried ice cream is pretty good too. Will come again

    Amazing food! The wife and I shared a large shrimp and octopus cocktail and three grilled fish tacos, both items were EXCELLENT. Make sure to ask for an order of rice because it's so delicious you will want more! Great prices, comfortable atmosphere, and wonderful service. Beware of the house hot sauce. It will make your teeth sweat! But it's delicioso!!!

    Had lunch here a couple hours ago and it was nice, the location is on the corner of a busy intersection and parking is limited so everyone just parks on the back streets. The prices for Mexican food is a little high for this area. The fajitas were great but it was 14 dollars and didn't have enough meat to make more than 3 fajitas. The chimichanga was doused with cheese so you couldn't really taste the chimi, just the cheese. This place is for those that want to pay more for the ambiance of dining with pricey Mexican food. In other words, it's fine dining Mexican food. Also, they bring chips and salsa to every table as you wait to get the menu.

    Food is okay, I've been eating Mexican food all my life so it's pretty hard to amaze my taste buds with regular Mexican food. But for first timers I do encourage you to try food from here. They definitely could use a bus boy because the waitresses seem to forget that they have to clean the table after the customer leaves. Besides that it wasn't a bad experience

    Haven't seen any mention of their ceviche. One of the best ceviches!!! Try it next time. There are several to choose from, but I'm partial to the fish-only. The large comes in a conch shell-like dish. That and the chips is enough for me.

    If anyone is down in the Redlands area you have to come to Puerto Vallarta Mexican Seafood restaurant. This mom and pop shop is truly the best. We came 11deep and had nothing but great food and great service. I'll recommend this place all day.

    We had fish tacos and margaritas. They were kind to us and the food was delicious. When we pulled up it looked like it might be closed but when we opened the door the place was full and we were greeted and seated right away. 10 stars.

    I've had great meals here over the years! Especially love the Shrimp Ceviche, their Pico de Gallo, the guacamole, all the various tacos & the shrimp dishes are my absolute favorites, whether in spicy or garlic sauces! The margaritas are delicious - highly recommend. The Fajitas make the most amazing sizzling sound & the flavors are just as pleasing. Prepare to satisfy your taste buds!

    This place is great! Been to it a few times since I came across it. Fast service and great food. My favorite is the grilled shrimp with sauce, beans and green rice! Neighborhood looks sketchy but the restaurant inside it looks authentic and cozy!

    I ordered the large burrito and found it very good. The chips offered at the beginning of the meal were good but the salsa was bland. My wife had the Fiesta chicken and rated that a 4. Service was good. I asked for a Hot salsa. They brought their homemade Hot salsa. If you like Hot, you'll like this.

    The food is pretty good and most prices seem reasonable. I've had their fish tacos and seafood enchiladas - both yummy. I was a little disappointed with the service. It was a Monday night and there was only one person working the floor. There was a large party that she was taking care of. We waited at the door for several minutes and another couple walked in and waited with us before being greeted. She sat both parties at the same time and waited quite some time to be served. Even though we arrived first, she took their orders before ours. She didn't come to check on us often. We had to wave her down for refills and for anything else we needed. I know it's not really her fault since she was taking care of the whole dining room and there was a large party but maybe they should have two servers on at night.

    So many great reviews we decided to give this place a try. The decor is typical Mexican flair with all the bright colors in a very old restaurant. This place looks like it has been here for many years. Nothing fancy just very laid back casual. We both ordered a couple of beers as they do not have liquor so no margarita's for me, wah! Our waitress barely spoke any English which was fine cause hubby luckily can speak decent Spanish, so just be prepared if you come here. She had no sense of urgency what so ever throughout our entire late lunch. We had to track her down at least twice for more drinks etc....And they only had one other table in the restaurant. The chips and salsa were OK. Hubby ordered fish taco's, they had great flavor to them and the fish was super fresh. I chose the taquito platter, which again was very good. The food here is very reasonably priced, good size portions, and very tasty. The guacamole had way way to much lime in it. It really took away from the flavor. Good place to get your Mexican fix on. I just can't seem to give them more than a 3 star from the service we received. Hopefully next time the service will be better and I would like to try a few other dishes.

    The food is great, although the ceviche was a bit odd to me because the fish chunks and the shrimp were dyed like red-pink. Nevertheless, it was good. The lemon didn't seem to kick in too good though. Tasted a bit too plain. I enjoyed it however. It contained fish, shrimp, a pico de gallo mixture of veggies, avocado, rings of red onion. My wife had their fried fish filet. It tasted great! Rice was ok, salad was simply just the lettuce, carrots, and onion. Everyone else in my party had their whole fried fish, and everyone seem to enjoy it. I should've had that instead. ...Now here's what grinded my gears about this place. The service is that bad. If you go in and notice a dark chubby Mexican girl in her 20's she's one of the worst waitresses I've ever witnessed. It seem like she was doing her job half asleep. I had the ceviche as mentioned. I was the last person in my party to receive food. Typically a meal such as ceviche is served quick. Actually, one of my party members had a different ceviche (not significantly different) and he got his right away. Upon receiving my food, I was also not given a utensils. That really upset me. I just used the spoon off the pico de gallo and chips they serve upon seating down the table. They even had a "yelp loves us" sticker on their door. If you're the manager here, I suggest you give that girl a nice talk on how to do her job more effectively. Most likely won't come back. I was invited here, but it failed to impress me.

    I had lunch here today, and I kinda wish I didn't. The place was dark and dirty and my food was tasteless. I ordered da dish (don't remember the name) that had three big crispy shells with shredded chicken on top - which was tasteless - so tasteless that I only ate one and left pretty hungry (and annoyed). Service was good, though - so were the chips. But that's it.

    I have not had authentic Mexican food since I was about 8yrs old from some neighbors and stopping by this restaurant took me back to those days! The food here is nice size portion (I could of had a kids meal!). My family and I enjoyed the food. The margarita's are yummy. My hubby and I enjoyed those as well :)! We will most def be back. I can't believe after all these years I never thought to stop in.

    We came off our plane in Miami and the first thing we wanted were fish tacos and a Rita! Being unfamiliar with the area I pulled up my Yelp App and searched for fish tacos and this local spot was at the top of the list with over 50 great reviews...they did us right! We enjoyed the food immensely! The flavors all combined in our mouth for ultimate tastebud happiness! Highly recommended!

    Excellent start with a fresh salsa. The Mariscados del Mar was phenomenal with a thick rich sauce and was perfectly sliced. The fajitas were also excellent. A corner hole in the wall that's too easy to drive by but is well worth seeking out.

    A hole in the wall kind of place. In January they will be moving to marker 88 to a much bigger place with an actual parking lot and lots of windows in a strip mall. Should be nicer than their current location which is a little shack next to the road. The food was good and authentic. It was better than the Mexican American restaurants we are use to. The salsa given with the chips was fresh with just tomatoes, onion, cilantro, lemon juice. (Advice to restaurant on their salsa: cut the cilantro. Long strips of cilantro in the salsa are not appreciated) the chips were not the best. They tasted stale. If we are gonna eat GMO filled corn chips then they better be reallyyyyy good. So skips those. We ordered fajitas and a vegetarian enchilada. The fajitas brought 4 tortillas and choice of two sides (beans, rice, salad or avocado), the mix of onions, and red, green peppers was very well seasoned. It was a small dish but enough for two kids. The enchilada was flavorful and had just the perfect tad of spice. It had tree enchiladas filled with onion and peppers with your choice of two sides. Really no vegetables anywhere but the onion and pepper mix. A little disappointing if you are a vegetarian and need a more complete meal. ( advice for the restaurant: when we think of vegetarian, we think of a more diverse group of veggies than just onions and peppers. Maybe some zucchini, spinach, and broccoli) We had no drinks just water but most of the tables had margaritas which were served in a huge glass. Enough to share in my opinion. If will try this restaurant again when we go back down the keys. Their new location may give them a bigger kitchen and an opportunity to improve their menu. Lots of potential here. This is a family owned place. So the more reason to support. Their cute kids were there. The waiters were not awesome and bubbly but were attentive. we sat in an outside table bc the smell inside was overpowering so we were happy that they didnt forget about us but kept visiting our table. Enough water, napkins, etc during our meal. The food did take a long time so you will not be happy if you are in a rush and the place is packed. We were there at around 7:30 on a sunday night and they were pretty busy. The bill came quick so this is a plus. If you are in the keys and tired of fish, try this place. Good enough for a vegetarian and not very pricy.

    I don't know why people read reviews and see photos of an old hole-in-the-wall and complain about the decor or the fact that it's a hole-in-the-wall. It also confuses me when people go to a restaurant called Puerto Vallarta Mexican Seafood and order something other than Pacific Mexican Seafood then complain their chicken was dry. Some said their seafood smelled a bit off, which could be legit, but the day we were there, it wasn't the case. I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were fantastic. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, large and super-fresh. Chips are made fresh. Really good. Chunky salsa was made with deep red, fresh, ripe tomatoes. The hubby had a chimichanga which he was very pleased with, as well. Even the iceberg lettuce served with the lovely rice was crisp and fresh. For me fresh goes a long way. Especially when it comes to seafood. The beer was a bit pricey, for sure, at $4 a piece. We each had two, so almost $60 with tip for lunch- a bit much for this place I think. But we'll be back for sure next time we're down south.

    You may be disappointed with the facade of this place, which might let you leave without entering, but you will miss the flavor of really good traditional Mexican food. Flautas, quesadillas, burritos, you mention it, are tasteful and for a reasonable price. A bit better attention would make this the place to go when you are in the vicinity.

    The boyfriend and I were on the road last week, vacationing in Florida. We stopped by Puerto Vallarta with his parents on the way to our campsite. It's been over a week since we ate here, so I'll just give you the TLDR: -- Chips and salsa were very good. Whatever that crazy spicy sauce in the bottle was totally rocked. -- We had three orders of enchiladas, two with red sauce and one with green sauce. I was one of the red sauce enchiladas, and they were freaking delicious. My compatriots agreed. -- The boyfriend got taquitos, which he enjoyed. -- The cilantro rice was better than any rice I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It was a great side with the enchiladas. -- The margaritas were tasty and enormous. We shared two among the table and I felt quite a buzz. -- The service was kinda slow, but I've experienced worse. It took awhile for her to get us the check, but the boyfriend speculated that she was waiting for us to sober up a bit. Puerto Vallarta has solid Mexican food for a good price. Definitely worth checking out, and a good introduction to southern Florida for these Bostonians.

    Decided to check out this hole in the wall little place off US-1 as a result of the Yelp reviews and glad we stopped in. Several of you fellow yelpers warned about the slow service... but we had a good experience. Went on a Sunday at 1PM and just over half the tables full. Chips and pico de gallo was as you suggested--fresh and appetizing. The beef chimichunga was perfectly prepared and the greenish rice AMAZING. I could have made an entire meal out of just the rice. Prices were reasonable. Only complaint: need fountain drinks and FRESH brewed ice tea. I know its a dive Mexican place, but cans are a little to "to go" for a sit down restaurant.

    This is not my favorite Mexican restaurant in Homestead. Their menu aims towards coastal Mexican, and features many seafood items, but none of them is spectacular. The fajitas and enchiladas were pedestrian at best and disappointing at worst. Food tastes as if it has been left on the steam table a little too long during the morning to keep warm, for both fish and fowl were dry and overcooked. The salsa was surprisingly spicy, albeit watery - and alas, the best part of the meal. Things weren't expensive, but for what was recieved, they weren't cheap either. As a final caveat, while I have eaten here on more than one occasion without problems, I know of at least three folks who ate here on two separate occasions who definitely experienced "bowel distress" later that afternoon. Given the old crusty food found on forks, the muck on the floor in the corners, and the nastiness in the restroom? I suspect that cleanliness is not a priority in this establishment.

    We went here for lunch, and I was hoping it was better since the reviews weren't that bad, but it was just OK. The service here isn't great at all and the place was not that clean. The food was just okay, my boyfriend had the fajitas and they asked if he wanted tortilla? Of course we do if I'm ordering fajitas. The rice was pretty good but not the authentic type you get in Mexico, it was a bit different. The beans were really good and I had flautas which were okay, I felt it needed more seasoning. I don't think we will be back anytime soon.

    I looooooooove Mexican. Love it. I can probably have Mexican food everyday. I have searched everywhere for amazing Mexican food, and although I can tip my hat off to some fave quick and easy joints around town, sit down restaurants are lacking. And then I stepped into Puerto Vallarta. Fresh Seafood is what they claim, and what they delivered. The menu is a refreshing take on Mexican, with no soppy sour cream and cheese everywhere, ground beef enchiladas. This is down home, visiting your friend's Abuela's house in Guadalajara cookin'. You walk in to decorations, colorful walls, and the latest futbol game playing live on tv. Service is quick and before you know there's fresh pico de gallo in front of you. After wiping my drool off the menu, I ordered the shrimp enchiladas. Wow. heaping plate was placed in front of me.. the savory scent of tomatiilo sauce, wafting into my nostrils,the enchiladas covered in jumbo shrimp,sauteed with onions, green peppers, carrots and squash, WITH FRESH SLICED AVOCADO ON TOP. From fork to mouth my tastebuds began singing " El Rey" and I knew that I was going to be swiping my fork around the plate several times at the end of this meal. The enchiladas, filled with smaller shrimp and achiote, were flavorful and not overwhelming. In other words, perfect. You know those meals that make you stop talking once you've started eating cause it's so good? I have never been so quiet in my life Three of us ate like royalty for under 40.00. All washed down with a Negro Modelo, I tip my sombrero to my Central American neighbors. QUE RICO!

    Authentically delicious Mexican food. Of course, portions are giant and cheese is plentiful... what more can you ask for? How about a delicious house made habanero hot sauce. Don't mind if I do... put it on everything. Chimichanga- amazing, tacos- so tasty and chips- always flowing. I cannot wait to return!

    On a weekend trip to the Redlands, we decided to stop for some Mexican food for lunch. We chose Puerto Vallarta for it's already high rating on Yelp. This is great affordable Mexican food. I have been so jaded by the overpriced $15 guacamole and cheap fast food Mexican that eating here really made me remember about real Mexican food. Great tortilla chips (all you can eat), cold beer and soda, and great food. What surprised me the most is that the beans and rice were amazing. I am not a big fan of the usual yellow Mexican rice that accompanies most dishes, but this rice was amazing. It had a green tint to it and when mixed with the beans, it was delicious. I had the Combinacion de Lujo, which had almost everything you can imagine for $11.99. My family had the churrasco steak (looked very good) and the enchiladas, also very good. This is great food at better a better price and value than most Mexican chains.

    I had the best seafood burrito ever there today. I went to the local farmer's market with my chef brother then stopped by for a late lunch. The food and margaritas were great and there was a charming and subdued mariachi playing Mexican folk songs. Its authenticate and unpretentious with amazing food and a friendly staff.

    I really don't like Mexican food. There! I've said it. I have tried Mexican food in many places...it's never exciting to me. It's always basically down home cooking from any given country....but Mexican Style and the big plus for many restaurants is the freshness and basic preparation of their food. I never got the whole "OOOH' factor. Anyone can replicate American Mexican cooking in their own kitchen if they have half a mind. So I went here with little expectations of being wowed in any way. Couple of Corona's to warm up @ $4 a bottle Some kids meals (best tasting kids chicken tenders evah!!! Real chicken...good flavorful breading) Some nachos to start...and...OH..they bring out Pico de gallo and chips to the table while you are waiting (but they seem to me to be those factory chips warmed up..no matter to me though but some of you guys are sticklers about shit like that) But.....OOOH Mammy!!! The seafood burrito here is to DIE for. Feck!!! Myself and Jennifer S. were scavenging around the table for ANYTHING to mop up that awesome spicy tomato based sauce. We also got ourselves a trio of fish tacos...grilled, fresh and tasty, with avocado but we were so enthralled with the seafood burrito the poor tacos went on the back burner. And then, as we sat, and sated and laughed and made MORE pigs of ourselves than we could ever imagine...the waitress passes us with THE MOST AMAZING looking seafood I have seen on a plate since...well, since a long time ago in another country. I gotta go back... Oh...service and stuff....the bathrooms are clean and well stocked, our waitress was OK, slow to start but she warmed up after a while. But service is not lickety split snappy....is that the New York part of my life showing?? It IS Homestead after all!! They have some little flaws...like the mold showing on the back wall through the picture and some flaws in service. But I love it. It's a great little find.

    I really like this restaurant because there are a couple of plates that are extremely good. I have had the shrimp enchiladas, which are SUPER delicious. The arroz con mariscos is very good as well. The margaritas are very tasty, too! However, I wanted to CAUTION new customers about the shrimp ceviche. I ordered it today not realizing there could ever be anything wrong with a simple ceviche recipe. I was INCREDIBLY wrong. This has been by far the WORST ceviche I have had. The shrimp was extremely over-cooked. All I ate from the plate was the avocado slices and that was all. I told the server that I didn't like it and that it was over cooked and she just said: "Yeah, that is how it is always." I didn't want to argue with her because I do like to go there for the other actual good plates but I was very upset at her lack of helpfulness. My husband and I are regular customers. We go there once a week and although that might not seem like a lot, I feel like we are pretty good customers that tip well. When she didn't even try to offer me a new dish or at least a small discount I was very disappointed. This is why I am writing this review. I don't want someone else to go for the first time and order, what they think will be a delicious ceviche to then be left hungry and disappointed for having paid $18 to eat nothing.

    the place is not nice but the food is so good, best mexican food. Their seafood is great, even the fettuccini alfredo. The pico de gallo is fresh. Love the Margaritas. My favorite: shrimp camino real YUMM!!

    No es barato amigo! The location on Dixie is sketchy until you walk in and it's cool inside see my pics. Generous portions! I had the seafood enchiladas. The pico gallo was fresco. I give the food a 3.8. Will return,my compadres enjoyed because they got the traditional faire. They need lunch specials. Like MacArthur said" I will return"

    Food was good. I did not like the salsa. Very mediocre although I am not a fan of pico de gallo unless the tomatoes are outstanding. And you don't get outstanding tomatoes in Florida. The seafood combo was great. The fajitas were ok although the chicken was a little dry. I would go back for seafood. Nice service and nice folks in general. The dos Equis was nice and cold. Chips could have been more crisp.

    ahhh, this place is good. Came here with Gina & kids and Ozzie. Poor Ozzie must have been afraid to stick his fingers anywhere in the vicinity of my mouth for fear of being bitten. Or afraid me and Gina would break out into a fight over who is going to lick the plate. Me and Gina split a portion of fish tacos and a seafood burrito. The fish tacos were pretty good, but the seafood burrito was SUPER yum! The sauce for it was LOVELY! I mustn't forget the chicken nachos. they use shredded chicken those. SOOO GOOD! I was full before I ever got my entree, and still i wanted to lick the bowl. We had to leave before my belly popped!

    YUM YUM i want SUM!!! Yet again another great place that i have passed by for almost 5 years and i kick my self in the arse for not ever going in. I will definitely be back here. I had the shrimp quesadillas and they were amazing!!! Gina and Jen and the kids all chowed down on a whose who of mexican dishes. From the shredded chicken nachos to the fish tacos everything was great and filling. Its great to find these little hidden jems around town and even better when we can recommend them to others so they can join in the yumminess.

    Had a group of 6 with 5 hungry race car drivers and/or mechanics and myself. The guys thoroughly enjoyed the chips and homemade salsa and guacamole. The dips had too much raw onion for my taste, but chips fresh and good. The food was authentic, plentiful and delicious. I had a rice with seafood (I guess this is the Mexican version of Paella) that was full of clams, shrimp and even a nice fillet of fish. Rice was spiced well, but not too hot. Burritos and tacos were nice size and our bill was quite reasonable. Oh. Have a LARGE Marguerita. It was fabulous! Very fresh, not a bottled mix.

    Spent the day in Homestead this past Saturday and thought that we should hit a Mexican Restaurant for a late lunch on the way back into town - after all, there's one in every street corner! Arrived at Puerto Vallarta extremely excited after having read all of the yelp reviews and left utterly disappointed, unfortunately. I really wanted to like this place! We ordered the ceviche tostada to share as an appetizer and when it was brought over to the table, I was a little put off by it. The ceviche was pink! Never seen that before. I tasted it, and while it wasn't horrible, it certainly didn't taste fresh. For our entrees, my husband ordered the tacos with ground beef and I ordered the fish tacos on corn tortillas. He claimed that his meal was ok, and while the fish in my tacos tasted fine the tortillas themselves were stale. I couldn't eat more than half of one and ended up just picking the fish off of my tacos. To add insult to injury our lunch cost $35! I am not cheap by any means and will splurge on food, but nothing that we ate was worth $35. I don't think I'll come back to this place if I got paid $35 to eat there and was served free food. Just not worth the calories.

    You may need to steel your nerves the first time you eat here, as the divey bomb-shelter exterior fronting busy US-1 simply does not lend itself to the idea of "seafood Mexican". That being said, it's well worth it. Once inside you're treated to a very clean restaurant, painted in dark colors with a bizarre space-themed ceiling. I love it. The food is great, starting with a very fresh and tasty salsa down to any of the seafood dishes. food is always fresh and spicy will in fact be spicy. No really, the smell of the chipotle shrimp alone singed off my nose hairs. Ask for some crema on the side, or -if you have no misgivings about your tongue or tomorrow- extra spicy sauce. Go elsewhere if you want globs of cheese and sour cream.

    3.5 Driving back from the Keys into Miami, we stopped at this Mexican restaurant to get "some tacos." Turns out this is not a taco shop. Instead, I ordered arroz con mariscos, a huge plate for only $12 of lots of tender seafood and carbo overload. I was enjoying it but once I added some hot sauce, it was even better. The same plate also comes in a medium and large plates for a few bucks more. I eyed the neighboring table's "medium" plate and it was enormous! The place is decorated really interestingly with this fossil print floor and homey little touches throughout the restaurant. A neighboring table told us this was the best Mexican restaurant in town. I enjoyed the fresh salsa they provided as well as the chips. Compared to LA standards, yes, the chips were a little stale and obviously from a bag but hey, it's apparently hard to find good Mexican so I'd still come here. Besides beer, they also had Mexican soda which I had a tamarindo. It was very relaxing despite the constant drone of the overhead TVs. They have a few parking spaces behind the restaurant and a few in front. You might miss it driving up the street so look for its bright neon sign and the neighboring gas station on the opposite corner.

    This restraunt's food and service quality is magnificent! I had the ceviche with shrimp appetizer and a combination plate for the entree of various mexican food like an enchilada, tamal, etc. Everything was cooked to order and noticeably fresh, not to mention authentic. I would have never imagined this restraunt to be so good in this area of Homestead. The decor and ambiance of the facility is decently mediocre, cozy, and comfortable.

    I reaaaaly love the Mexican food here. It's worth the long haul to Homestead. We ordered a potpourri of things from shrimp enchiladas, to burritos, tacos, fajitas - and every single thing was mouth-watering!!!! The pico de gallo they bring to start is irresistible, we kept ordering more! I also ordered oysters to start, not the best I've ever had - I actually left one cz it looked a little off. Stay away from the oysters and head straight to the Mex food!!

    The food is definitely good. Fish tacos are incredible, as well as the shredded chicken. The rice is unique and taste great. Everything is fresh and made to order. We have passed this place for years but have never stopped in until we read several reviews on yelp. So in doing our part to help make yelp work this is our review. BTW we will come back. It's not an elegant place inside but the locals eat here and that says a lot. The food is a 5, but the decor brings down the score

    I heard really great things about this place and decided to check it out. I went with my sister in law, who had been there before, and was presently surprised. From the outside, it does not look like much, but the food was really good. The salsa was fresh and not from a jar..fresh cut up tomatoes, onions, and fresh lime juice. My husband and I ordered the steak fajitas which were delicious and the portions were huge!! Next time we will definitely order one fajita dish. The service could have been better but it was okay. I enjoyed my trip to Homestead for some yummy Mexican food.

    Excellent! Not a cheapo place, but the quality -- and the quantity -- are worth everything every time. Not necessary to have seafood, even tho that's their specialty. Do yourself a favor -- go.

    My son and I went there for dinner last night. Wow. It was wonderful. I took suggestions from other reviews and had seafood. We had a shrimp enchilada and a shrimp stuffed pablano pepper. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!! The rice was even awesome. Fluffy. Tasted like it was made with seafood stock, cilantro, and a hint of lime. :) My son said it had "the essence of the sea", lol. The salsa was fresh... The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars was the service. It was OK, but not amazing like the food.

    I have been here a couple of times. The first time I was there I had the seafood burrito and was very impressed with it's flavor and presentation. The next time we went there, I tried the vegetarian combo and was also quite surprised with the overall quality of the dish. I would probably give Puerto Vallarta 4 or 5 stars if the service was a little better and the beer wasn't so pricey.

    Food was plentiful and tasty. I had the ceviche which was delicious and huge, and the seafood soup which was OK. The restaurant, which is very large, was empty except for us most of our dinner, which always makes me wonder... Good but not great dinner.

    This is a hidden treasure between Miami and Homestead on US 1. The pico de gallo is cold and fresh. I ordered Seafood Enchiladas which comes in a pool of crema latina. YUM!. My spouse ordered the fish tacos with some chipotle sauce on the side. VERY SPICY! Nice kick to it. The parking is horrible, so park in the back. It's very well worth it. Fortunatly for me I live in Cutler Bay and it's a ten minute drive, so I will be back!

    I'm quite lucky- I live down the street from this place. From the outside it may not look like much, but once you try the food, you'll be pleased. One thing I really like is that the pico de gallo they serve is super fresh, and made with tons of cilantro (the way I like to make it.) I tried the seafood enchiladas, and they were pretty good. I was particularly impressed with the garnish it came with- many Mexican restaurants in Homestead don't bother with it. All in all, I'd definitely recommend it to others.

    my favorite mexican restaurant in south florida. this is real mexican food....no pounds of melted cheese on your plate or extra thick sour cream (here they give you the good stuff - crema latina) the restaurant pegs itself as a seafood restaurant but anything there has proven delicious. i have taken several people to this restaurant despite the 45 minute drive...its worth it!!! - i have never tried dessert there - usually b/c i have already had or plan on having a key lime shake at robert is here. ;)

    not many of us think of a mexican restaurant when we're hungering for a stuffed crab-back, or salivating over sucking on prawn heads. perhaps, being stone crab claw and key west pink shrimp-centric, we haven't had the necessary exposure to inspire such an appetite. or maybe, being offered mostly central mexican cuisine here in south florida, we simply haven't had opportunity enough to appreciate the fact that mexico has a cuisine derived from its vast stretch of coastline -- and that's just on the pacific side, where the town of puerto vallarta is located. fortunately our education is at hand via el puerto de vallarta, and we're not just talking about the three r's of fish tacos, but the abc's as well: avocado-garnished shrimp and snapper ceviche with pico de gallo; botana (appetizers) including shrimp quesadillas and oysters on the half-shell; and seafood caldos (soups), such as the luxurious combination of seven different types of shellfish served with homemade corn tortillas. finish off your secondary schooling with bacon-wrapped shrimp, or garlic-sauteed lobster and a cool tecate beer, and you'll be set to graduate.
