This place has decent Colombian food. The bandeja paisa was decent not fantastic but a good if you have a Colombian craving. My rice was a little dry as was my meat but the flavored were still there. The sausages were delicious. The juice was refreshing as well. Service was ok and bathroom was clean. Parking was horrible.

Great traditional Colombian bakery/restaurant. The best within a 10 minute drive of Hollywood. I've yet to sit and eat there, however everything that I've ordered to go has been great. My favorite is stopping by in the morning for empanadas, pandebono (cheese bread) and their other baked goods. They make an amazing ham and cheese bread, as well as loaves of Colombian bread. Whether you are familiar with Colombian bakeries or it's your first time, this is one of the best places in Broward to go to for baked goods. Their meals are good as well, though I find the meals to be a bit better at some other Colombian restaurants in the area. The bandeja paisa and ajiaco are the best options for meals here.

It's nice to have the flavour of my country so close to home. The food is good and the bakery is even better. I like coming here for the soccer games, they host most major South American games. I highly recommend the soup of the day and a bandeja paisa.... If your stomach is big enough for their generous portions. Overall their selection of food and juices are better than most.

This place is awesome why does it have no reviews? Best place to go for real Colombian food when you want to eat something quick.

Trust me, I always tell the truth, even when I lie. This is the only Colombian spot around my area when looking for south-american comfort food and so I give them 3 stars. Food's Ok. Not the best not the worse. I've been eating comida colombiana for over 30 years and yeah it is hard to cook like grandmas do. So, it's hard to judge. Bakery: Bunuelos, Pandebonos etc are delicious. Restaurant: Breakfast is good and decent portion (pa lo tacaÑos que son los colombianos), Bandeja Paisa is also good but not great on the beans. Sancochos or soups are tasty. Empanadas are ok and could be better, maybe if they add more meat. (tacaÑos = cheap, for those of you that don't use the Ñ) hehe! Service: Depends on who you get. Kinda needs improvement to have a general excellent experience. It shouldn't take that long to get your check, maybe if they'd check on the tables a little more often. check check. Try your luck... there's also a casino right in front! hahahaaa! Best, El Niche caleÑo.

Terrible service! Don't even dare going to La Calenita for lunch. They will take forever, bring your food cold, send it back, take another 15 minutes to bring it, give you a bill with items you didn't order, what a mess!

Be careful, this place used to be good many years ago. Enter any given day and it does not matter what language you speak, they will look at you like you are an intruder. Be careful they want tips without providing you any service, even buying something from the bakery. When you order from the bakery, keep an eye on that hand that fill up your bag, because might be something different. Use to have an excellent pan de bono here, now is cold, sweet , expensive ($1.29) and does not even taste like cheese, taste more like a donuts. Avoid at all costs.Thank you !

This place has the worst customer service in the world. Not worth going to, extremely rude staff & manager even worse! Would not recommend this place to anyone. Unprofessional staff is all you'll find there.

I've been coming here for 5 years. I'm Colombian, a foodie and been in the industry for many years. This place has grown from a countertop lunch counter to a bustling 30+ table restaurant. The food is great, fresh and authentic. Service is good but not incredible. The bandeja Paisa is incredible and fresh and delicious. Love coming here even though I shouldn't come here so often because Colombian food is not healthy haha. Love this place!

Empanadas and Pandebono @ 9PM at night, they were hot and fresh. I got a Colombian cola. Sugar plus Carbs, plus the spicy green sauce.. Delicious!

La Calenita #1 has it all. I popped in his this morning after almost a year since the last time stopping in. Nothing is different, and that's a good thing. As I walked in I was hit by the same pleasant sounds of happy Colombian diner, and smells of tasty meals and a bakery that is tops in the neighborhood. This was a breakfast moment so I went for #1 Colombian comfort food, Huevos Pericos con Arepa. I also ordered Emanadas con carne, and Pandebonos(my eyes were hungrier than my stomach). everything was fantastic. One caveat was that the aji for the emanadas had zero kick, very tame. I would have preferred some much less tame. Purely a preference issue. As usual the service was slow(as many other reviews have harped on), but that actually makes the places ironically more Colombian. I have been into Calenita many other times for many other reasons: bakery to-go Colombian Ice-cream on a stick Empanadas to go and dinner. And from the buñuelos to the sancocho I give a big thumbs up to all. stop in your way to the beach, and grab a Colombian popsicle, you won't regret it.

Ok... So i am Colombian and i love to eat and cook colombian food/dishes. Coming from someone who knows what colombian food should taste like..... This place was a real disappointment. the 2 stars was for the service... But thats about it. Personally ill take crummy service for good food any day. The food: (I'm being fair and writing this review based on 3 visits) Bland, hard, cold in some spots and kinda the day after taste sort of food. I would only recommend it if you are dying of hunger and cant go the extra mile. Oh, and the juices are mediocre. Hollywood has a few Colombian spots and this is my least favorite of all, go a few more miles and you will find a great Colombian place that my husband and i eat at at least once a week. I dont think i can post names on here... But its by the Chase bank off W Hollywood Blvd. :)

I place an order this morning at 10 a.m. for 25 empandas to be picked up at 4 p.m. I even spoke in Spanish just so there would be no confusion for the order. However, when I arrived to pick up the empanadas to my surprise they had my order on a bulletin board and it was not ready. The staff looked confused and played it off stating to wait 5 minutes, instead it took 25 minutes. The spicy hot sauce was in a tiny container, I was puzzled because it was 25 empanadas. I kindly ask the staff for extra sauce but she refused insisted I had to pay additional for the sauce. she didn't even give me the courtesy knowing that they inconvenience me as a paying customer. I caution anyone if they place an order in advance to follow up.

After a long day of fun in the sun (fun for us, not so much for the baby) we had worked up an appetite and were in the mood for some Cuban food. After a few South Florida Yelp disappointments we decided to give it another shot. La Calenita was the closest restaurant and since baby was asleep the faster we ate, the better. The service wasn't bad, the bread and chimichunga was delicious, the fired calamari was the best I have had in a while (especially the homemade marinara sauce) but unfortunately we never got to eat our meals. Baby woke up screaming before we got a chance to dig in :-( We ate the meals the next day for lunch and they weren't that great. In all fairness, this review is based on day old food, mediocore service, and relatively high prices.

Good place for comida cacera like back home. My ajiaco was good, well presented thought a bit bland. But the maduros, rice & aguacate that came with it were excellent. Loved being able to have a jugo de lulos! Place is kind of like being home in latinamerica. Place was pretty full. Enjoyed it & would go back.

Being Colombian myself I set big standards for these types of restaurants. Having said that, this restaurant is by far the best I have been to in this area. The food is great!! With a big selection that includes breakfast lunch and dinner. The prices are fairly cheap. My only complain is the service is on the slow side, but the staff is very nice which makes up for it. My family and I are now regulars. I highly recommend this place!

Lousy restaurant to say the least. We orders the daily special- a green plantains soup with some fatty pieces of ribs thrown inside so tough u needed a hacksaw to chew them. We returned them and ordered the chorisco steak instead but it was just as bad. We left it and asked for the check just to find out we were charged for all entrees when we took it to the manger he insisted we should pay for all even though we didn't eat any of them. Terrible experience.

This is very good place for morning coffee and some Colombian food like empanadas and pangebonos. I switched from Starbacks to this place: coffee is cheaper and tastier.

When I eat here, I feel like I'm at my grandma's kitchen table. The food is tasty and the portions are generous. No matter what you do, don't leave without having a beef empanada. They are made with a corn meal dough and filled with beef stew and served with a spicy pepper and onion "relish" that's absolutely delicious. So what can be better than good food at a great price? Good service of course! All the waitresses are friendly and quick, a rarity in south Florida.

A great Colombian restaurante! In the mornings when im in a rush I run in order some empanadas, pandebonos and a jugo de maracuya (passion fruit). In the afternoons when I have some more time I go inside, sit down and order more of a meal, the bandeja paisa is great, the churrasco is delicious and the ajaico hits the spot every time. I like the juices and love the fact that the place sells lots of Colombian candies, yogurts, and ice creams, making you feel more at home. The restaurant etechnically has three dining rooms all attached and open making one big room; the point here is its a big place. I also found out today that they're open until 2am on weekends with live music!!
