Be warned - this is a LOT of food! Being Canadian, we simply weren't prepared for the size of the steaks and were stuffed solid. That being said, the food was REALLY good. The onion soup was outstanding, and the filet was very nice. I just didn't have room for desert - sorry! The wait service was friendly and prompt. It's a little expensive for a steakhouse, but still excellent food!

After the underwhelming dinner at Ireland's Steakhouse we wanted to redeem hubby's birthday dinner experience so we went to Diplomat Prime. Wow - we had one of the best meals ever! THANK YOU Britt for the recommendation! The woman at the podium warmly greeted us and escorted us to our table. We sat at the end of the room so we had a very private space where we could look at the whole dining room, which is beautiful. Everyone who worked there was on top of their game - Patrick, from the hotel's front desk who volunteered to take our pics and the serving team: Melania, Mauricio and head server Gene. Everyone was professional and engaging. They really set the tone for our experience. The tomato bisque in a shot glass was creamy and had finely diced shallots that spiked the cream nicely. The warm sourdough bread was delicious because the sourdough was very mild (I really dislike sourdough but tried it at hubby's urging). Osetra caviar - a creamy, slightly briny decadence! They served it in an ice sculpture of a rose sitting on leaves. Melania opened the small jar and we doled the caviar with mother of pearl spoons. I liked it on the small blinis more so than the toast points. I made each one with different amounts of finely diced chives, boiled egg yolks, boiled egg whites, and red onion. I also used sour cream and small capers. I've had caviar before but not this type and certainly not this good! 32 ounce tomahawk wagyu ribeye steak - a black-crusted, mid rare steak to end all steaks. Better than the one we had a the Meat Market and far better than Ireland's wagyu steak. The interior was a glistening, jewel red, tender delight. The crust on the exterior was mouth-watering. We'll be talking about this for months to come - until we return and have another! 8 ounce African lobster tail - I know I said the lobster tails at Ireland's was the best I ever had but that was before I tasted this one. This was no a springy-fleshed Maine lobster. This tail was dense, like a steak, and packed a ton of lobster flavor. I don't know how they did that. Mushroom medley - Melania used French service (2 spoons used like tongs) to dole a buttery mix of 7 types of mushrooms onto our plates. These earthy veggies were a perfect compliment to the steak and lobster tail. After the entree leftovers were packed, we ordered two espressos and a signature dessert platter. We got Sigrí, from Papua New Guinea ( a combo of "sweetness, full body, and light acidity") and Sumatra Mandheling ( "full-bodied with woody tones and long finish"). The Sumatra seemed sweeter to me and since I drink it unsweetened I took that one and hubby took the other. The dessert platter had one of the best creme brulees we ever had - a perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness. The lava cake was hot and had dark cocoa tones so it wasn't cloying. The cheesecake tasted good but it's thick consistency made it a miss. The house-made chocolate truffles that accompanied the bill was a nice distraction from the price of the meal! Hey, if we're gonna eat like royalty we have to expect to pay for it. And hubby's birthday dinner would have been hundreds less if we didn't go to Ireland's first, so next time we come here it's bound to cost less! I already asked to come here for my birthday - and our anniversary!

What a lovely experience! Best bartender ever...Daisy was attentive and made the most delicious drinks. Great service from all the staff and the food was absolutely wonderful.

We were walk-ins and sat in the empty lounge area until 2 seats at the bar opened up. The front of the house staff and bartender were lovely. We had good cocktails and the lump crab meat and foie gras apps were yummy, however, the medium rare ribeye we shared was overcooked and disappointing. We definitely expected more based on the other reviewers.

WoW this place is great. The service was top notch. We arrived much earlier then our reservation and she quickly found a table for us. Great wine selection great food.

Make a reservation! Fills up quickly. The restaurant name is actually "Diplomat Prime". Husband ordered ribeye and I ordered a filet. Sides are large family sizes- serving for at least two. The sautéed mushrooms were a blend of shiitake and portobello. Very tasty! Other side was broccolini which was tender crisp. My steak was cooked rare with a side of bearnaise sauce. No need for sauce as steak was well flavored . The wait staff were wonderful, pleasant, and quick to respond. The minimal downside: steak was tough for a filet. The menu reminded me very much of Ruth Chris steakhouse. Overall enjoyed the meal- great place for special events such as Anniversary but not so much for a regular night out.

My family and I had dinner here this past weekend. I looked at the menu beforehand and I thought this would just be another overpriced hotel restaurant. Yes, all the reviews were great but I was thinking it wouldn't be that spectacular. Not only was I wrong but my thought process was way off-base. This restaurant is in the Diplomat Hotel. Valet was quick and the restaurant validated my ticket so there was no charge for parking. I didn't even ask, our server noticed my valet ticket next to my phone and took care of it. The service was outstanding throughout our meal. I have been to a lot of high end steakhouses but this restaurant is in a league of it's own. The dining room is small and intimate with only about fifteen tables. The lights are dimmed low with candlelight coming from all the tables, creating a very warm and romantic vibe. Prime was perfect for our family dinner but would be a wonderful place for your date night too. We were each served a hearty piece of warm sourdough bread that was delicious. Crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside. It was a nice change from the standard bread basket found in most restaurants. We were treated to a complimentary taste of their ceviche. The seafood was very fresh and the citrus based dressing was light and flavorful. My sister and I shared the Caesar Salad ($13). I am glad that we shared because the salad was very large and more than enough for the two of us. The dressing had a nice hint of garlic and was very good. I ordered the 8 oz. filet ($37). I am not a huge steak person but I do enjoy a good filet every so often. My steak was unbelievably soft. Cooked to perfection and seasoned with only a little salt and pepper. I just flat out loved my steak. I usually order seafood so for me to rave about meat is not normal for me. This was above delicious. All I know is that I want to eat it again. The sides are served family style. My sister and I shared the white cheddar mashed potatoes ($11). What can I say? They were beyond amazing. Tons of carbs, not such a healthy choice but worth every single little carb and calorie. Definitely worth ordering. I'm not sure why, but our table was served a complimentary dessert platter. I tasted the dark chocolate lava cake, cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust and the vanilla ice cream. I took one bite of each and they were all excellent. My favorite dessert was the warm apple tart lightly drizzled with caramel. This was absolutely the best dessert I have had in a very long time. I really enjoyed this restaurant. No complaints as everything was just perfect. I strongly suggest making reservations to guarantee a table. The Diplomat is an oceanfront hotel but the restaurant is in the front of the building, so there are no ocean views. But with such a fine restaurant the ocean view is not at all needed or missed. Whatever the occasion is from family dinners or a special date night, I highly recommend this restaurant. Top notch all the way. And they serve you complimentary chocolates with the bill too. Beware, I think the chocolate has rum in it. Enjoy!

By far the best crab cakes I have ever had. Steaks were incredible as well, I got the 12oz filet. Expensive but absolutely worth it. Very nice setting and the hotel itself is amazing.

Ate here Saturday night with some friends. The food was to die for and the staff was great. Especially our waiter, Daisy (Hope that's her name). Really enjoyed the mashed potatoes which was a pretty good size. Will be back next time I'm in town.

My husband and I love trying out restaurants, especially steakhouses. We've tried many of the top rated ones in South Florida and nothing ever compares to Diplomat Prime. This is the only steakhouse we keep returning to. The service is always impeccable and the food is always delicious. We started with lobster bisque which was incredible. For our entrees, my husband ordered the 18 oz ribeye and I ordered the 10 oz Maine lobster tail and we both enjoyed our selections. We shared a side of the black truffle whipped potatoes which were to die for! The only thing we missed was an item that used to be on the menu which was the French Onion soup. This was one of our menu favorites and we hope they bring it back. Diplomat Prime is still the best steakhouse we have been to!

Great service in a relaxed but upscale environment. I sat at the bar to order a meal and Robin was so attentive and gave great recommendations. I came in for the burrata and left with great wine, wagyu filet, ice cream sandwich sliders and truffles to go. Everything was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection! Would definitely come back!

I have heard so many good things about this steakhouse that I had to give it a try. It's a beautiful dining room with a nice bar. We decided to sit at the bar . Big mistake. The bartender daisy was so unfriendly and unattentive that is was uncomfortable. It took a while to get a drink. Some people walked out after waiting for service. It wasn't that busy. The food took forever but the crab cake was excellent. And when the steak came out it was overlooked and had to be sent back. But the next steak was perfect and delicious. The only person that was completely professional was Allison. She came by several times to check on us. Beautiful and genuine. I'll be back. I want my friend to have the crab cake.

An excellent choice for steaks and great service and atmosphere. The service was on point and attentive. The food would thrill even the most discerning individuals in my opinion. It is hard to find great service and consistency at any price range in restaurants these days and I think these guys come closest to setting the bar than any other around.

My BF and I had dinner yesterday. OMG it was amazing. We live in Orlando, fine dining and excellent service are hard to find. This place is terrific! Very romantic, service on point and every single dish cooked to perfection. We started with beef carpacio, it was delicious. So tender, juicy and the combination with arugula salad complemented the dish. I had the Long Island Duck and my BF had the 18oz Rib Eye. Both dishes with the white cheddar mashed potatoes. It ended up being to much food so we took it home. But I am glad we try the cheesecake because it was to die for. So creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. Perfect! The prices are high but they matches the quality and great execution in every dish. It was worth the extra bucks. We will come back when in the area. It is very small, you need a reservation.

I was staying at the Westin Diplomat with my colleagues for a conference and we decided to splurge on a steak dinner for the final night in town. I really enjoyed my dinner at Hollywood Prime except for a small mishap in the beginning. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation so we decided to order some drinks at the bar while waiting for our table. Unfortunately the bartender working that night had a condescending attitude and was adamant and rude about carding everyone in my party before even letting us look at the drink menu even though we were only planning to order 4 drinks (there were 6 people in my party). Other than that, our waiter was amazing and knowledgeable as well as the sommelier who was able to help us select a good bottle of red to go with our meal. Food: -Appetizers: crab and beef carpaccio - both good starts -The steak that my colleagues ordered was amazing. I usually almost prefer lamb over steak but couldn't stop asking them for bites of their steak. -I ordered the lamb, but came out slightly overdone as one of the chops was dry however the other chop was perfect. -Surf and turf - the lobster tails were HUGE! -Broccolini side - eh, not memorable -Mushroom side - soooo very good, recommend ordering this -Potato hash with truffle oil - eh, probably would not order again. This tasted slightly burnt -Dessert: chocolate cake and key lime pie; these desserts were both a great end to the meal . Additionally they provided us with dark chocolate truffles that were rich and wonderful. For 6 people with appetizers, entrees, desserts, and a bottle of wine, the total was about $740 before tip. If you're staying at the Westin Diplomat, I'd recommend trying this steakhouse out if you have the time and funds!

This is with out question the best Steak place in South Florida and I've eaten at them all.! I always eat a New York Strip and this is the best in town. The service is fantastic from the minute your greeted by hostess (very pretty) to the waiters and waitress the place is perfection. The place is small so make a reservation but that is what makes the service so good . The interior is pure class the bar is stocked with the best scotches and liquors (not cheap) but good . I'm a local so it's not like I'm a hotel guest and have no place to go far from it I eat out 5 to 6 nights a week and at least 2 of those meals fine dinning so I'm well aware of whats out there and this is my pic as the best steak place in SFL . They have a coffee menu and great deserts so save room. I never leave reviews but this place is just that good I wanted the word out.

Well what can I say. It's a great steakhouse. Well prepared steaks. Excellent quality. Inside the Diplomat resort so it's very nice. Overall I would recommend it, but averages 70-90 dollars per person

Saturday night I dined at the Diplomat Prime, he ambiance of the restaurant started with the Maitre D' who was polite, charming and made us feel very welcome, my wife also commented how beautiful she was. The food was outstanding, the steaks were cooked perfect and our waiter Bobby was the best. I also want to comment on the Manager he came to our table and greeted us, then was very attentive to us during the dining experience, he made it that much better for us. Will be coming back soon.

This one rates way at the top of upscale gourmet steak and full menu restaurants. Maybe it was because we had VIP reservations but as luck would have it, the Head Chef himself greeted and hosted us. Also was so fortunate to have sat with one of the most interesting person - a woman, the resident architect - and we talked about my favorite subjects, local and American history. I vaguely remember that she was also very attractive - It think - who remembers those things when we are having great conversation. Real Kobe steak, have to go to Houston for a better cut. Had to use a butter knife because they didn't have feathers. Reckon they ran out. Ambiance is cozy and upscale. I am much more comfortable in a dive bar but somehow I did not feel out of place. Cocktails and after-dinner mixes were fabulously construed and the wine was perfect selection and divine. I almost took off a star for parking but that is not fair. The Diplomat is a large hi-rise on the beach and parking is scarce. I hate to valet my old truck. So I parked a good piece away, put on my designer jacket and walked. I'd rather walk than valet. Don't judge me, I love my truck and I haven't had payments in 9 years lol. How else can I afford the good food? I've actually been here 3 times but I only reviewed the first visit. Similar results the other 2. So 5 stars and 3 yums for Hollywood Prime.

This place was SOOOOOOO good I ate here twice in one week. Staff is very friendly, drinks are great (expensive $16 for a martini) and I love it when a place has blue cheese stuffed olives for their martinis?! One night I had the lobster and it was sweet and tender. The other night I had the filet and it was fork tender and so flavorful -- and their housemade steak sauce is so great I could drink it! I normally don't like steak sauce, but this is GREAT.... oh, the giant, and I mean GIANT baked potato was incredible. I found the mashed potatoes ok.

What an awesome place. We got into the hotel late and had to wait till 10:30pm before we could eat but drinks at the bar were nice. The food was incredible. Huge lobsters, great steaks. The lobster bisque was good. Deserts were incredible. Creme brûlée and the cheesecake were to die for. The best part - Robert - our waiter. He was awesome and made the crazy expensive bill at the end of the night more palatable. Great place, high quality food and incredible service. Thank you!

First, this is a small restaurant with maybe 12 tables. There also isn't a view of any sort, even though it's "on the beach". The filet was cooked well as ordered, but was still tender and flavorful. My husband had the sirloin, which was a generous portion. Hubby Iiked the house sauce, but I was more of a fan of the au poivre. I didn't like the fact that their wine was extremely overpriced compared to other high end restaurants in the area.

One of the best steak houses in Florida hands down. Don't head to prime 112 in Miami!

  • Chris F.

Dined here with a party of ten. Food is very good, perhaps slightly overpriced by comparison with similar style upper end steakhouses. Cheapest stea is about $40 all the way up to $125+ for specialty cuts. Service was great but that should be expected at this price point. Great wine list. Only complaint would be that they could not seat our party of ten at one table. We sat as 6/4 in adjacent tables that could have simply been pushed together. No explanation for why this wasn't an option.

Incredibly romantic restaurant tucked into a corner of the Westin Diplomat - HB's premier hotel. This spot always made for a great weekend escape when we were living in FL. We could get down here for the weekend, enjoy the beautiful views, and dine on a perfectly cooked steak. I still dream about the wild mushroom side and the hand trimmed Kobe steak (when available). Jessica swears by their standard dry aged filet. This continues to be one of my favorite steakhouses and a go-to on our trips to FL.

On their A game without being pretentious. We took clients to dinner while in town for a conference. They were incredibly accommodating of our large party (we expected 16) ensuring that we could sit at two adjacent 8-top round tables. Robert, our waiter, worked his magic to make sure each table felt special and catered to while still making sure our group felt connected. I imagine it's challenging to orchestrate an exceptional experience for one table, let alone two in unison. My dirty martini perfect (my co-worker's Crown & Coke must have been impeccable - he ordered 4! lol) and my water glass was never empty for more than a few seconds (I've been known to beg waiters to leave the pitcher). The food was outstanding. Perfectly cooked. Incredible flavor and outstanding cuts of meat. I went back and forth between the fish (the sauce sounded uhhhhh-may-zing!) and the Wagyu beef. When at a steakhouse, right? The portion was perfect. The sides were served family style and were bigger than expected (not huge, but more than enough for 4 people to enjoy). We had creamed spinach and whipped potatoes (sans truffles) for the table - perfect choices. No room for dessert, although all the choices looked fantastic. I'll admit, I thought about coming back the next day just to try one. A pleasant surprise: with the bill was a chocolate treat for each of us. If you're in the area, make a reservation (or pop in on a week night), relax, savor... and say hi to Robert!

I was staying at the Diplomat for a convention for the work week, and we ate here twice for dinner. Its that good! The service is top notch. The atmosphere was classy, but walking in with shorts and a t-shirt was normal. We had a large group that orders a few things and did some sharing, and here is what we found: Lobster Bisque - Excellent! Very tasty with plenty of lobster. The Bread - SO GOOD. They serve it with this truffle butter. Don't pass it up. Wagyu Fillet - Super Tender, very juicy. Regular Fillet - Got high marks as well. Rib Eye - This was the hotly debated item. First, everyone agrees that the meat was aged great. Very tender meat. However it was the fat content that got disapproving marks. 2 of the 3 said it was too much, while I personally thought it was fine. One of the guys didn't eat 1/4 of the steak because of the amount of grizzle he received. Bay Scallops - Tender, well cooked and and well presented. However it was a bit too salty. Not sure if was due to the cooking or if those particular scallops retained a lot of salt water. Overall its a great place to eat, evident by our return. Just take note about the Rib Eye steak and choose accordingly.

  • Steven W.

Obvious to me that this place survives on Westin guests who don't know any better and those same guests with expense accounts who don't care. Service and atmosphere was pleasant. The food however was discouraging - uncreative wedge salad, bland and fibrous filet, and somewhat rubbery lobster. The wine list is as long as it is dear. Overall, it's worth taking a taxi or getting your car from the valet to venture out.

  • Monty B.

The service was so poor an unresponsive, we left after 25 minutes. We had reservations, the restaurant wasn't busy, yet they still never came to take our order. I'm not sure how long it took them to realize our party left! It's too bad. The hotel is nice, and the restaurant is very convenient.

I've always loved everything about the Diplomat hotel on Hollywood beach, and that's exactly where this restaurant is inside of. Having stayed at this hotel about 4 times, I've eaten at Hollywood Prime every time. I don't mind a $60 steak if it's excellent. Impeccable service and food, for sure. They serve you in white gloves and are very attentive. It's very dark in here which is okay, it makes it very upscale and intimate, which is great if you're going with your significant other. I like as little fat as possible on my steaks, so I usually order the filet mignon or the sirloin. The sauteed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes are amazing here, as well. The food is very similar to Council Oak in the Hard Rock hotel in Hollywood, except I actually prefer Hollywood Prime instead.

I ate here two nights in a row once. Their strip steak cooked "black and blue" is just perfect. The sides are also quite good.

Good food. The bread was fresh. Waiters were attentive. Portions were sizable. Steak: Both the 16 oz Sirloin and Ribeye we ordered were made as requested and done very well to our liking (medium). However, the beef did not have the great and deep taste one would expect in an upscale steakhouse. The waiter brought us their in-house sauce (their version of A-1), which tasted pretty well with the beef but I personally like to taste the flavor of meat, which is lacking. Sides: the anna potatoes tasted great and was a dried version of potato gratin. Roasted mushrooms dish was not what I unexpected. We were fooled by the word "roasted". It was wet and mushy rather than the fresh and firm taste I have come to expect and like. I would not order it again. The ambiance was great. Overall, the steakhouse is decent but expensive. The steaks are generally good but not great. Additional note: Valet parking is free at the Westin if you are dining there. Tell the valet you are dining at the Hollywood Prime and they will give you a green color ticket. Otherwise, it's $14 for parking.

Absolutely killer! There were so many pluses to this dinner, that I may have an excuse about why it took me two weeks to post it. "I was comtemplating my superlatives." So, the first experience getting to the table was a very good one, with a waiter that really enjoyed his job; he was knowledgeable, funny and attentive without being intrusive or pushy. The table was served drinks (they make a mean scotch on the rocks :)) and the wines were recommended with thoughtfulness as the menu was explained. He paced the orders properly, but didn't pace the table which was great as we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I also liked the room. Nice old school ambience in a small room, that interestingly was mostly full, but not too loud! Very cool. I really enjoyed the appetizer course, with the lump blue crab as well as the very nice crab pieces sent by the chef. Lots of nice little touches throughout the meal and this was one.... I ordered the Wedge salad and if there was a single "area of ordinary" that kept this meal from being 5 star, this is it. the wedge was very good, but just as "very good" as any place that doesn't Eff it up. The menu was not over the top, some nice Surf and Turf and a few different cut selections as well as the obligatory non-beef selections such as chicken and fish. I ordered the 18 oz ribeye and it was fantastic. One of the best steaks I've ever eaten. I travel frequently and eat out frequently, so it's easy to get jaded and numb to the steakhouse experience. This place really shook me out of my fog. The wine was great - we stayed around 75-100 per bottle and the sides were great. For sides, we had the mushrooms, creamed spinach and hashbrowns which were nicely "gar-licked" and moist (which is a nasty word, yet appropriate here..) without being oily as they so often can be. They were Also well portioned. So where were we? The company was great, the wine was great, the food was phenominal. Oh! The food! The steak preparation was wonderful. It was a Dry-aged steak with excellent flavor, temperature and texture. The service was impeccable as throughout the meal, no less than 3 servers at any time were attending to our drink levels, plate and silverware removal. Now for dessert and coffee. I'm not a HUGE dessert person, but I do like a little sweet to offset the heaviness of a large steak dinner. This was great. Some sort of chocolate thing that, due to my tardy review, I have forgotten the name of... However, what I DO remember is the excellent coffee! The individual French presses that they left at the table so we could pour at our convenience. what a great meal and a great experience. I will definitely go back when in the area and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that will be traveling through!

Pricey, which it should be given the quality if the food and the attentive service. Steak cooked accurately to order. Filet and rib eye both very good. Mushrooms delicious, creamed spinach less so. Good wine list. Comfortable quiet dining room.

The best customer service. Our bartender was awesome. She made some pretty good martinis for me. Their beef carpaccio is to die for. The best beef carpaccio I've had! My friend had the surf and turf- steak was cooked perfectly at Medium Rare and the lobster was a pretty good size. Not sure why I ordered seafood here, at a steak house, but I had the Swordfish. It was a pretty thick cut of the swordfish and seasoned very well. We also had a side of white asparagus.

This should have been an easy five stars!! Took the girlfriend here for her birthday this week. Made a reservation for 6pm so we could make it an early night. We arrived a little early and I suggested we sit at the bar to get us started. The bartender was kind of stand offish, but I typically have that experience with female bartenders so I brushed it off. Other than drink orders, she didn't even acknowledge us. I got a gin and tonic and the girl ordered their mango old fashioned. It was too sweet for her but I loved it so we traded. When we sat down, the hostess listened to my Open Table suggestions perfectly and we got a great private table. Now, we were the only two guests seated in the entire dining room. It took so long to be greeted that the server assistant (who was super attentive all night, she was so stinkin cute) even said "your server will be right with you!" Everyone was very knowledgeable about the food. We ordered the lobster bisque and tomato and mozzarella to start. The bisque is nice, but I'm accustomed to creamier bisque. For our entrees, we shared the prime striploin, which was like butter!!! We also shared the creamed spinach and cheddar mashed potatoes. Neither of which were very creamy, it was very subtle, but yummy nonetheless. The side portions are family style, they're good for sharing :) And then our server disappeared from the time our plates were cleared until we left. Our server assistant and the server from the next table over became our server. No reason why, nothing about shift change. It was just weird. I wish I could rate this place higher. The service was just a bit disorganized and I feel like an uncultured swine for being accustomed to heartier foods and expecting different. It's good, just not great.

Best Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale area. Best way to do it: *Kobe Beef skewers appetizer-not on the menu, and very pricey, but if you want the best you pay for it. *Bone in Filet-5 stars! *Sides-Mashed potatoes, truffle fries, asparagus. Im not into mushrooms or creamed spinach, but they are also supposed to be the best. *Dessert-Creme Brulee and Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie with Ice Cream-not on menu either. Ask for Frank as a server-does a great job, and has been there since before the place reopened 12 years ago.

Came to celebrate a friend's birthday tonight and had one of the best dining experiences ever. The food was amazing, the cajun rubbed ribeye was excellent. The white cheddar mash was so good. Possibly the best steakhouse in South Florida.

Amazing food. Great drinks. Excellent service. We came in and didn't have reservations and they were full for the evening but we were offered a spot tucked in the bar area that was very quite and romantic. I thought it was great they offered to accommodate us and we'll make sure to come back in the future.

I was staying at the Westin for a friends work trip... I wanted to treat myself to something special given the reviews I decided to give it a try. I sat at the bar, the bartender was very friendly and helpful in her suggestions. My rating was primarily based off the service. The food however I was not impressed with. I travel alot and have ate at many steak houses and for the cost, this just does not compare. I had the strip, dry aged and it just was not all that. When you pay $60 for a steak you kind of are waiting for that melt in your mouth taste-it was just not there. I had the spinach and mushrooms as a side. The cream spinach was ok, kind of rough tho and the roasted mushrooms were just ok as well. If you are looking for service and you have unlimited income than I'm sure you will enjoy this place. If you are looking for a meal worth the money they charged than I would venture off and go to a better steak house.

One of my top steakhouses. Go here a few times a year. Beautiful restaurant. The steaks are excellent. The mushroom side dish is AMAZING!!! the best ever in any steakhouse. The service is just phenomenal. 3 different waiters for your table to take care of every need. They're all one better than the next. An excellent choice for a date night or dinner with group. Worth every penny.

Absolutely fantastic! The service is impeccable and the food is excellent. We went for our anniversary. The waiters are extremely attentive and the food is second to none. I had a bone-in ribeye that was seared to perfection. Afterwards, dessert was brought with a candle with an ample portion to share. Yes, it is pricey, but you get what you pay for. This place is not pretentious or stuffy. The ambience is down to earth and the waiters are all professionals who want to make your dinner pleasant and memorable. I couldn't ask for anything more.

This restaurant inside the Diplomat is convenient for its location but very pricey if you aren't prepared. The food almost lived up to the expense. I undeniably had the best steak I've ever had there! Desserts were excellent. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because we had pretty bad service. It started out great, but towards the end of the meal our waiter disappeared! We had to wait entirely too long for the last half our meal there. We ended up having to track down the manager just to get our check.

Great steakhouse. Bone in rib eye was amazing. Service was excellent. Friendly staff and excellent food. Spinach with Bechamel Sauce made with nutmeg, so I didn't like it. If you don't like nutmeg, stay away from this dish. We went on our wedding anniversary and the waiter and his assistants made us a desert platter on the house. I am a fan of Del Frsicos in NYC. This is of the same quality. Recommended!!!

I stay at the Westin Diplomat often for both business and pleasure and the service and food are always satisfying. But the service at Prime was very rude. I've dined there before and the food is okay for a steak house, but the service was very poor? The maitre'D was as rude as they come

I'm kind of torn on this one. I have been there 3 times. The first time about 3 years ago and it was a fair but mostly forgettable experience. I recently went back. The second time I had the most amazing steak I have ever eaten - it was a Cajun rib eye, perfectly cut, cooked and seasoned. If it wasn't for this steak and the pursuit of another one - this rating would be lower. To start, they have a great bar and put a lots of love and vodka into their martinis, The sides are all good and very large. I especially appreciated the spinach, hash browns, and schrooms. The salads are well prepared and enough to split. The service is truly exceptional , very professional and a bit old school. The restaurant is small enough to be intimate, even romantic, and in a very nice hotel. The last time I went - I felt like I was set up. I told my meat connoisseur guest about this amazing rib eye. We both ordered one. His was not tender and fatty - way too fatty. Mine was tough as beef jerky. They were happy to take it back - an the server brought out another type of steak. It was good, but not great. I will try the restaurant again, because of how well the server took the steak back. However, I'd rather not send anything back and enjoy my dinner the first go around. I suggest try it - maybe you will get the steak of a life time. Or maybe not, but thats life.

Have enjoyed several meat eating experiences at this Expense Account steak house for those visiting the resorts and convention center. The decor is typical macho steakhouse with a very nice wine selection at the typical high-end mark-up. Service is typically very good to outstanding, however, when they are fully booked expect a long dinner. Meataterian's will be very satisfied and wine lovers will enjoy.

I really enjoy this place once or twice a year. Starting the evening with a cocktail or two in the front bar followed by a long and leisurely dinner in their ample dining room is always a pleasant experience. The tables are large, the seats are wide and comfortable, the ceilings are high, the rooms are well lit and the decor is sparse. I like everything about this place. The service is very friendly but maybe a fit fussy for a steak house. The seared foie gras and the lobster bisque are great appetizers. The fact that their salads are completely uninspired bothers me a little bit. Being that their menu is so basic, wouldn't the salad course be a great opportunity to serve something different instead of the expected three salads in every restaurant menu? The main course is steak, of course. I have never tried anything but their beef; but I can tell you they offer a couple of steak-like fish dishes, lobster, lamb ribs as well as duck. I am not a fan of prime rib. To me, it's tasteless and therefore I never order it. The other steak cuts on the menu mostly come from the same area of the cow and that's almost my biggest complaint about this place. Why not have a choice for something maybe a bit tougher, but if cooked properly, a lot more flavorful? The steaks they do serve are flawless. I like mine rare seasoned only with a little bit of salt. Their sides are all good and are served family style. I usually go for the broccolini, the asparagus and the creamed spinach. I know, very monochromatic of me. Which brings me to my biggest complaint (pretty negative review for a place I really like, right?). Hollywood Prime goes out of its way to present a menu that in no way will turn anybody off. Nothing unexpected, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing uniquely its own; which makes for a very predictable and delicious once or twice a year meal. The only dessert I've had there is the chocolate cake. It's good chocolate cake.

I'm a pescatarian. My comments below are for other vegetarians who eat fish. If you are a vegetarian and looking for a warm meal I do not recommend HP. It's a steakhouse, so all of the entrees are fish or meat. + Swordfish = delicious. Flavorful and prepared in a way that tasted healthy. + Full menu at the bar, no reservations needed + Excellent service, my server (the bartender) gave me a complementary piece of chocolate to pair with my last sip of red wine after my meal. Classy. + Fresh warm homemade bread, onion poppy! - The sides on the menu are family style, if your eating solo and you order a side expect it to be large enough to serve 3-4 people. Even the baked potato! - They roll the baked potato in salt. I like to eat the skin, but it was way too salty to stomach. If you like to eat the skin on the potato ask them to go easy on the salt. - 1 glass of wine + swordfish + baked potato + 20% tip = ~$70. Expensive, but what else can you expect from a steakhouse in an upscale hotel.

I was staying at the Westin Diplomat for my bday and my gf took me to Hollywood Prime inside the hotel for dinner. The service at this restaurant is phenomenal. The waiter was super friendly, great at explaining everything on the menu and at giving us advice on what we should order. The food was typical steakhouse fare. Same menu you would see at Ruth Chris or Morton's and the food was just as good. I had the lobster bisque and surf and turf. The lobster bisque was in my top 3 (best: prime 112) and the steak and lobster were both cooked to my liking and simply delicious. The decor in the restaurant is also really nice and the ambiance was great. They also have an extensive wine list and full bar. If Hollywood Prime wasn't so far from home I would definitely visit more often. To cap off the night, since it was my birthday.. My gf had told someone in the restaurant staff that it was my birthday when she made the reservation and at the end of our meal, they brought us a delicious molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and had written "Happy Birthday Janelle" beautifully on it which really made my night complete. I highly recommend Hollywood Prime for a special occasion or if you're in the mood to splurge- treat yourself, you deserve it!

It was lovely (fancy but boring)but I am so mad right now because the bottom line is my husband could not get home to the bathroom fast enough to have diarrhea. So $250 to buy nice enough tasting steak with 25% grizzle for $250 and to rush home to the bathroom. That is never the right experience .

While staying at the Westin on business a recent business trip, I had the opportunity to eat at Hollywood Prime. Since I've eaten at some of the best steak restaurants in New York, the bar is high. That being said, I was impressed with Hollywood Prime. They had a great selection of steaks and seafood. The waiter indicated that the rib eye was their specialty, but I went with my usual steak house order and opted for the filet mignon cajun style. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Others in my party were also very pleased with their order. So if you're in Hollywood, Florida and you're craving steak, I recommend you try Hollywood Prime @ the Westin.

Phenomenal!! They have a great selection of 28 Day Aged USDA Prime steaks, Kobe beef too, and South African Lobster tails in Truffle drawn butter, and really good traditional steakhouse sides as well. The wine list was very expansive, had bottles ranging from $50-$3800+. On the night we dined here we had to wait about 40 minutes or so for a table because we didnt have a reservation, so we grabbed a drink at the bar, and did some very, VERY interesting people watching. There were these old men (easily in their 60's and 70's) walking in and out of the place all night long accompanied by really young, busty 21-24 year old Asian and Eastern European bombshells wearing clear heels and the shortest little skirts, some of them were even taller than the guys they were with. We overheard some pretty interesting conversations too since some of them waited a little bit for tables as well, things like "I wouldve flown you in last night", and "I need you at the Hard Rock Casino tomorrow at 6", etc, etc. Great spot, definitely coming back next time I'm at the Diplomat.

We asked what the wait was. She tossed her nose so high in the air it bounced off the ceiling and boomeranged back into place. "30 minutes" she replied, with a thousand yard stare that skimmed over our inferior shoulders. Umm. Okay. I looked outside. Hotel lobby? Check. I was still at the Westin Diplomat. Palm trees? Check. I was still in the United Emirates of South Florida. Fat Midwestern tourists and social climbers in off-the-rack prom frocks? Double check. So why the attitude? It's not Manhattan. It's not London. It's not Paris. Hell, it's not even Bal Harbour. You're in Hallandale, bitch. It's purty and all, but stop putting on the Ritz. I mean, this is where Rielle Hunter stashed her infamous vagina when the John Edwards heat was hot and heavy. Hardly screams class, does it? Luckily, we were with a friend in the hotel-restaurant business, who quickly bypassed Countess Seatingchart von Smirkypants. He got us in the door and seated in a minute's time. The place was virtually empty, by the way. On a Friday night. Around 9 p.m. We ordered a couple of bottles of Chilean plonk - the wine list's cheapest - which cost about $40 bucks each. The place is going for that New York/Chicago steakhouse vibe with dark paneling and sedated decor. Okay. Whatever. I believe in judging things for what they are, rather than what they are trying to be. So my rating is premised on a South Florida steakhouse trying to be an NYC steakhouse. There's a market for this stuff. From time to time while in the land of chimichurri and chorizo, I get in that New York state of mind and need a good steak, some creamed spinach and hash browns. This place serves that purpose. The food was well-prepared. Simply classic. Nostalgic even. Especially the wedge salad. Stuff like this really makes me yearn for eras I never existed in. All in all, if I want a NYC steak experience in South Florida, The Palm is my first pick. But Hollywood Prime not a bad Plan B. But, honey, you need to lose the attitude. You're an imitation - admittedly a decent one - of something else. The NYC places you're trying to ape are either more adept at being classily snotty, or are good enough that they don't need the foreboding stench of superiority creating an aura of unjustified importance. Let the food, ambiance and service speak for themselves. The high prices and lack of Schlitz will scare away the riff-raff. Promise.

Outstanding!! We came here last night for my daughter's sweet 16. I had called several days before to make a reservation for her and 3 of her closest friends at one table, and my hubby and I at our own. This place is amazing! It has a wonderful ambiance, like a good steakhouse should. The very professional hostess greeted us and we were beyond impressed that they knew who we were before I even told them! The tables were ready and waiting for us. This was the absolute best service I have ever encountered in my 25 years of eating out in the South Florida area, or anywhere else for that matter! They made us feel like we were their only table. The best part about this restaurant is the food. One word: WOW! The lobster bisque was out of this world - best I've ever tasted. The steaks are perfection! My daughter and her friends were also blown away by their meals. I will be coming back!! Yes, it is expensive, but well worth it for any special occasion! - or even just a nice night out! Thank you Hollywood Prime for making our special occasion one we will always remember!

A first rate steak house right up there with Shula's, Ruth's Chris, Morton's & Sullivan's. Their wine selection was excellent with prices what you would expect at a fine restaurant. Prices are very high, but you will receive top tier service and quality in a nice setting. We shared the 3 1/2 lb lobster as a appetizer between the four of us. They did all the work to cut it into nice bite sized pieces and served it in a delicious cream sauce that brought out the flavor of the lobster without overwhelming it. The steaks were prepared expertly and sides were generous enough to share with the four of us. It was a fantastic meal with a very high level of service. The 12 oz Kobe Delmonico cut is the sole reason I'm writing my first review of any kind ever. I've had Kobe beef before as a tiny appetizer portion but never as an entree. This was a very special occasion, so I decided to pull out all the stops and spring for the $100 cut. OK I know $100 is an obscene amount of money, especially when everything is ala carte. But this is must try before you die kind of thing like foie gras (it's on the appetizer menu) or stone crab (yep it's there too - in season anyway.) There is no possible way to describe this steak because it has no peer in the meat world - period. Let's just say that angels sing with each buttery bite and leave it at that.

Wow, this was the most delicious steakhouse I've ever eaten at - and most expensive (I probably would have drove to McDonald's had it been on my tab!) Expect your dinner, with drinks, to top $60 - perhaps closer to $70 with dessert. An appetizer of a half head of iceberg lettuce with roasted tomato and blue cheese dressing came out to $12 alone. The food just melts in your mouth. The waiters are great, and helpful in suggesting things. The atmosphere is rich and relaxing. Great place to go if you want to hear yourself think. If you order wine, you'll wonder how your glass keeps refilling itself. I swear, I did not see one person come over and keep filling that glass. But they must've, because by the end of the night, when I turned my head, the room wasn't turning with me. Whoops ;)

Had to go to the east coast on business, it was short notice so I called another client to see if he wanted to have dinner afterward. Since I didn't know where to go he suggested the Hollywood Prime. I arrived to the restaurant a little early and decided to sit at the bar for a drink. Service was prompt I ordered a Bloody Mary, truly the only mistake of the evening, Why the heck do upscale restaurants serve pre-made mixes when they charge top dollar for the dang drink? My friends walked in and we were sat instantly. The menu was fairly generic steakhouse fare. My theory is as long as its good! I started with the tomato-mozzarella salad with a balsamic dressing. What a great salad simple and refreshing. For my main the ribeye all I can say is succulent one of the best ribeyes Ive had in a while. My side of hashbrowns in truffle oil was A-OK. I saved some steak for lunch the next day so I could indulge on some dessert.. A very authentic creme brulee and coffee served from a french press. All and all a very nice meal and well worth the money. If I didn't have the pre-mixed Bloody Mary it would certainly have been 5 star.

Hollywood Prime tries to be something it is not: a top-notch steakhouse. Sure, they've got high prices. (Outrageously high, it turns out.) Sure, they've got snooty waiters. Sure, they've got an extensive wine book (if you're looking for a bottle with a 3x mark-up). The warm spinach salad I started with was utterly unremarkable. The NY strip I ordered was cooked properly, and is the only reason this place is getting three stars. The sides were bland and boring, especially the Anna's potatoes which sounded much better when the waiter described them but were just pan-fried potato slices. My chocolate cake with molten center was overcooked and so not very molten. The waiter was distant and reminded me of the maitre d' in Ferris Bueller's Day Off with his demeanor. When the check came, I knew this place was a mistake. Skip it, unless you have no other choice or your company will pick up the steep tab.
