we have frequented this place since moving to the area about a year ago. we must say, it is a little pricey for thai food but it is tasty. we always order to go through their website and its ready quick.we haven't had the chance to eat in, but the place doesn't look especially kid friendly. the service is always pleasant and i say again, the food is very tasty. the best thai place in the area that's for sure!

3.5/5 I've had the shrimp tempura rolls, chicken tempura rolls, chicken curry, duck, squid salad, and some other dishes. They have always been great. There is this one waitress who is amazing. Last time I went I finally saw the owner who, like others have said, isn't the most pleasant and the booth I sat in was broken so the seat kept sliding off.

The food was decent, but was overpriced for what it was. Very lack luster indeed and by the time I saw the bill the questionable dining experience felt like a complete rip off. I was so confused by the high priced bill I thought I must've been in downtown or south beach; but no I was in Miami lakes in a shopping plaza near a Winn Dixie.... I was seconds away from telling the owner how overpriced her food was but my boyfriend insisted I hold in my frustrations and post a review; so here it is. Thai food that tastes like it is made by Americans who pulled recipes online and decided that just because the menu has ingredients like coconut milk and curry that it would pass as Thai. Truly disappointing, although our waitress was very sweet. The owner seems to be ticked off like the other reviews mention and after several unacknowledged "thank you's" I figured there was no point in trying to get a response or welcoming smile out of her. I will not be coming here again. My king and I were not very pleased..

Food is really good, spider roll awesome, california rolls awesome, chicken wings amazing, staff is very cordial, parking always available just a little pricey and portions a little small

A Japanese and Thai restaurant that does neither well. I had the yellow curry chicken and asked for extra spicy; what I got was rubbery, tasteless, not at all spicy chicken. It didn't taste like curry at all; it was drowning in olive oil with some curry powder sprinkled on top. My mom ordered the sushi, and said it tasted bland and unfresh. The service was nice enough but they were understaffed; we had to go to the front desk to get the check.

Great sushi and the hostess is so nice. Try the kiss me garlic beef. Yummy!

:takes a deep breath: I've been here a couple of times simply because it is convenient. But every time I've been here, I have had to wave down my waitress, reminder her of my drink, and remind her for the bill. But despite all these things, I still went back. Now let's get to the REAL reason of my review. Last week (Friday) I decided to come because I wanted some sushi in a place that wouldn't be too crowded (like RA). So, the place "closes at 11", so I thought I would have more than enough time. I showed up at 10:20 and the lady that is always in the front (an older blonde lady that smokes like it's going out of style) says to us "for pickup?", I politely said "no, we would like a table.", she rudely responded with "the Sushi bar closes in 3 minutes!" REALLY LADY? then why does your door say you close at 11? Let's say I didn't want sushi. I immediately said, "never mind." Moral of the story. Don't say you close at 11, when you really mean 10:20. Don't be rude to your regular customers because your rudeness may just inspire some to learn how to make their own sushi! All joking aside. This really pissed me off! I got there with plenty of time. They lost a customer. Plus, they weren't that good anyways.

One of my favorite restaurants in Miami Lakes. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. The food is great, atmosphere is alright, service varies but is generally very good.

I'm a Miami lakes local, and this place is my go-to when I'm in the mood for Thai food. Their sushi is always fresh and the food does not disappoint. They are very friendly, have excellent customer service, and their food is great. Dawn is very friendly and always makes my experience there extra special. They also have online ordering for take out, which makes It more convenient.

The King and I is always good for sushi and pad Thai. The restaurant can use some updating but the service is usually on point and the food is consistently well prepared. The UM Roll is one of my favorites. If you're in Miami Lakes and craving sushi...the King and I is a sure thing!

This restaurant is my go to for sushi near hialeah. The food quality is superb and the customer service is as well. The staff is so personal, they remember their customers. When I dine there I am treated like family. The volcano roll is fresh and tasty, they even warn of the wait time due to the dynamite baking. The cashew chicken is light and tasty and for dessert the thai donuts are to die for. King and I definitely deserves this five star rating for the attention they give their customers and their food.

What I thought would become my local go-to has turned out to be a dud. Despite the restaurant being near empty, I waited nearly twenty minutes to be acknowledged by a server. Once I ordered it took another 15 for a green tea to arrive. The food was mediocre at best. I have no plans to return.

Was in town for business and found this place on Yelp. I ordered massaman curry and spring rolls for take out. My food was ready very quickly and it was very tasty. Service was friendly and you can order online (which I prefer).

I love coming to King and I, their service has ALWAYS been great, their food has always been delicious, never have i ever been here and complained. ONLY big issue is the pricing, which in my opinion is a tad overpriced, but every now and then is no big deal. I give it a five star because of their food, attention and customer service. Keep up the good work.

This is my go to Sushi & Thai place. The sushi is always fresh and the food is delicious. My favorite rolls are the lobster roll and sea crab roll. Service is really good too.

I have gotten take out and I have eaten inside the restaurant and have yet to have a negative experience. Their Pad Thai is delicious! Their Thai tea is so yummy! And they have so many different types of sushi! My personal favorite is the tempura bagel roll, however, even their tekka is flavorful and scrumptious. I will continue to go again and again to this place because the staff is always friendly and helpful and the restaurant is so cute with their individual little booths. Overall, it's worth trying if you're in the Miami Lakes area and craving some Thai.

As someone who eats a lot of sushi at a lot of places around the country I tend to seek out local favorites when I'm in a city. This place does not disappoint. Good service, fresh offerings...can't ask for much more.

We love this place. This is our go-to sushi spot if we want amazing sushi. I recommend: UM Roll Dragon Roll Daiyomaki Roll Four Friends. And the waitress is really nice and attentive. Good service.

The sushi was ok but honestly not the best I've had plus it was pricy for what I got.

BEST Thai restaurant I've been to. There really hasn't been one that can compare. Fried rice is amazing and the dragon roll is a must have. Also if you've never had the crab avocado salad I strongly recommend it.

I love love love their food. I would've given this place 5 stars if they had better customer service. Everytime I go there , the owner of the place is a big snob. She is SO rude to her customers, it's ridiculous. BUT I do ignore it and go about my wonderful meals here. Fried rice is great, lobster & hot JB salmon roll is my ultimate favorites :)

I'm a Miami Lakes native and live down the street from the shopping center where this restaurant is located so I REALLYYYY wanted to love it. The first time we went for dinner on a Friday and the place was pretty packed. They sat us down and no one acknowledged us for about 20 minutes. However, we gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were so busy & seemed under-staffed. Finally, we made eye contact with someone and she made a gesture as though she was getting someone right away. Cut to almost 40 minutes later and still nothing. We ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. That was about 3 or 4 months ago. Today, I gave this place another shot for dinner with a friend. The service was still slow, but we stayed. I ordered the red curry chicken and my friend had their special fried rice. When the food came out, the fried rice was mediocre at best (definitely not worth $13). When the red curry came out, it smelled RANCID. The best thing to compare the smell to is sweaty feet. Regardless, I STILL TRIED IT and it tasted like it smelled. The smell was so bad, even the table behind us made a comment about it. When I sent it back, the waitress asked me if I had liked it and I told her no (very nicely). After waiting for the tab for 20 minutes, she didn't even do me the courtesy of removing it off my check. And like other yelpers said, the owner is not nice. I don't know how this place is still open. Stupidly overpriced, the service sucks and the food sucks. Never going back.

I went for lunch and ordered the basil chicken. It lack flavor and the sauce was very watery. I wouldn't recommend this place forThai food. For Sushi is average. The nice thing is they have small TV's in each both. I rather go eat Thai elsewhere.

Although this place has good thai and sushi at a reasonable price without having to drive far the service is a hit or missed. Sometimes you get a nice waitress and sometimes you get a good waitress. The lunch specials are very good and very well portioned compared to Thai Cafe'. I've been going to this place since I was 16 years old (25 now). Last time I went for lunch they charged me for a refill of soda when they have never charged for that service before. I was not pleased with that. Like I said its a hit or miss with this place.

A nice little Thai restaurant which I truly enjoy their lunch specials. I don't believe this is a restaurant to hold your breath for but a very nice place for lunch. I truly enjoyed the lunch specials and were affordable.

Great food, service is slow but polite. I ordered sushi, teriyaki chicken, crab rangoons, and pad thai and it was all delicious. Not a gormet restaurant but very good none the less. Its a generally quiet place so its great for dates or small groups.

The King & I Thai restaurant serves both Japanese and Thai food cuisine. The best of both worlds :) The first thing we noticed was the decor. They have a nice salt water tank with tropical fish and the booths were nicely lit up and added to a nice ambience to the restaurant. We ordered the King Salad which was topped with a spicy creamy dressing and deep fried masago on a bed of crispy lettuce. Yum! We also ordered the "bagel roll" - cream cheese and salmon sushi rolls and green curry w/ white rice. All of which were delicious! The green curry came in a huge bowl with a side of rice..The only complaint was that the rice bowl was tiny compared to how much green curry we got. But it was no problem, we just had to ask for more rice and they didn't charge extra. Very friendly service and a great place to bring groups or family.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Adriana's review and write this review while still at the restaurant. :( I used to eat great sushi here all the time back in February 2009, but my how things have changed... I came here for a late Sunday lunch with my family and boy was it disappointing. To save time, I'll just list the cons. The Tom Kha Gai soup lacked lemon grass and flavor, go to Oishi Thai instead. The cooked salmon bagel roll had a fishy taste and we had to return it. We also had to give back a plate that had a spider crawling on it but my mom swears it was a roach. I also concur with the prior review about the waitress being rude. When my cousin was ordering, she cut her off mid-sentence to answer the phone. The Pad Thai was great though, but maybe bc I spiced it up. Such a shame that this place has deteriorated. Miami Lakes is turning into another Hialeah. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Eh, maybe it was an off day. But the Sushi did not seem very fresh. The ginger salad dressing was very watered down. The waitstaff was pleasant and attentive.

The booths have no backing and are quite uncomfortable. Sushi is good although I've only had the sashimi. Service is adequate, but I find portions a bit small compared to other Thai spots.

  • Janelle L.

Although the food here is unhealthy, it tastes delicious. Their chicken paid thai is amazing and their bagel rolls are the best. The staff is very attentive and I've always been seated right away. The only reason I won't give them 5 stars is cause their prices can get a little steep. I usually share a sushi roll and a meal (the meals are really big) with whoever I go with so it doesn't end up being expensive.

We've never had a bad time at this restaurant. We usually stick with the sushi which is always good. I've also tried the pad thai and enjoyed it. No complaints here.

A thoroughly mediocre dining experience. Sushi rolls are incredibly overpriced ($7.99 for a California roll!) and I've had much better Thai elsewhere. My shrimp curry lacked flavor and texture, and my husband's Masaman curry was overly sweet. The lowlight of the evening though, was when the waitress who was about to take our order walked away from the table to answer the phone, leaving me in mid-sentence. Will not be coming back again.

This is my local sushi restaurant and I have nothing bad to say about it! I go at least once a week. The sushi and the Thai dishes are great! My favorite dishes are the Mexican Roll, the Four Friends Roll and either the green on red curry. But I've never ordered anything I didn't like and neither has any friend that I've taken there. This place is a gem in a random Winn Dixie plaza!

I moved to Miami Lakes back in 2004-2005, My wife and I would frequent this place because we felt it was pretty good.Well Sunday 08/21 we were in town taking care of business and visiting family so we were decided to have lunch there, my other choice was Pei Wei, which we should have gone too. So were there and I order my usually spicey octopus salad, Volcano roll ( california with Dynamite on top and a Katsu roll. My wife orders her rolls and asks for a side of Ginger dressing which she likes to dip her sushi into. The dressing was like water. I get my octopus salad and its laking ingredients. They use to put in pieces of Avocado and pieces of tangerine none of that was in there! just cucumbers and octopus. The dynamite that comes on the california roll is suppose to be made up with pieces of fish, crab, shrimp and flying fish eggs then baked in the oven, All I got was finely chopped up immitation crap meat and mayo, nothing was baked and it tasted like shit!!!I ate it because I was hungry, but they lost my business!!! I have experienced way better food at other places and at better prices. they have gotten too expensive. I could have gone to Publix and had better food!!!
