The food here is good but they take a little long. Bandeja paisa was standard, good for what you pay for. I asked for the coctel de camarones, in pink sauce. They came in a glass, full of the sauce. I didn't really like that, but the shrimp were huge though. I also ordered an arepa de choclo, it was really good. I would like to come back and try something else, my grandmother ordered the guanabana juice and she liked it a lot. Next time!

Memories can be evoked in many ways, through smell, taste, sight...El Aguacatal reminds me of a restaurant that I worked in for quite a few years. Warm, inviting with exceptional food at extremely affordable prices, this restaurant is meant to be enjoyed with the whole family. I happened upon them by accident one day while waiting for my car to be serviced at the nearby Firestone mechanic shop. It can easily be passed if you don't know exactly where this little restaurant is. I was lucky enough to be walking through the shopping center, on my way to Sedano's to pass some time, when I decided to stop in. I was warmly greeted by several employees, who graciously sat me at a table. A quick glance at the menu shows an array of authentic Colombian specialities: ajiaco, sancocho, bandeja paisa, sobrebarriga, natas and many others. The most surprising are the price points, with most entrees under $10.00 (bandeja paisa is $10.99). I decided on a bandeja paisa with grilled steak ($10.99). For those not familiar with Colombian cuisine, the bandeja paisa is a dish from the Paisa region of Colombia. It is traditionally served with either grilled or ground meat (finely cooked, with liquid drained, so it is almost in powder form), white rice, red beans, fried pork skin, an egg, a white corn cake, a chorizo sausage and an avocado slice. There are several variations, however this is the most popular. El Aguacatal's version is no different, all components served freshly made. It is one of the best and most reasonably priced bandeja paisas that I have had in Miami. I usually prefer quality over quantity, but here you get both. I decided to box up half my meal, order a second to go for my significant other, finishing off the meal with a nice tintico (strong coffee, think espresso; $1.25) and a caramel flan ($2.95). Both were wonderful. For less than $30.00, including drink, dessert, tax and tip, I had a nice, full meal for two.

Excelente servicio, gente amable y comida Colombiana rica en el area de miami Lakes! El aguacatal is located in a shopping plaza on 67th street and Miami Gardens Dr in Miami lakes area so it's plenty of parking space (Sedanos Supermarket plaza) The place is small but once inside it looks really nice and clean with a peaceful atmosphere. The tables are a little bit too close. It's decorated with Colombian handmade Balcony replicas and Colombian landscapes and pictures. I was gladly surprised once inside because of the fast and good service and the best of all, we were lucky enough to be there on sunday afternoon when they have a wonderful live singer entertaining us while eating, Her name is Diana Naranjo who has a wonderful voice and she told us She is working on getting some of her best songs recorded in a CD.I wish her good luck because she is really good. The food was very tasty, I had Chuleta Apanada de Cerdo (breaded pork filet)wich was delicious served with 2 sides(about $14.00) , we o had also the typical Bandeja paisa wich was very good($10.99) , small hidden Colombian food treasure by Miami Lakes area. I'd give it just 4 stars because the place is small but service and food are very good so it made me give it 5 stars, friendly staff, nice place

Excellent food, and great service when it comes to a food establishment will always make me and my family happy campers. I've been coming here for the last couple of months with the family; and to date we haven't had a bad experience yet. We've ordered several plates and they've always have been well seasoned and nicely decorated. Nowadays is hard to get such great service and HOME COOKING and a restaurant. Kudos to the staff and owners. Highly recommend this establishment.

Pros: The food is very good, affordable and service is timely. Cons: For those that glance at the bill and only focus on the total, you're going to miss the 15% tip that has been automatically added to your bill. When you actually sign the credit card reciept, you're given the option to tip an additional 20%. I've been coming for quite some time and I just noticed ...Meaning I have been double tipping without knowing. This is the reason why a gave them a 3 instead of a 4 ....

This was my first time here on a business trip. My Columbian coworker brought me here since I wanted to try different ethnic food. This place is known for Columbian food. APPETIZER & DRINKS: I tried their specialty, Empanadas in beef. They're ok, too greasy for me. The Blackberry milkshake knocked my socks off! I was very surprised to find such a tasty fresh smoothie at a place like this. ENTREE: I had the Arroz Con Pollo (Chicken & Rice) - very flavorful. It's like a yellow curry fried rice but not spicy. It reminds me of Pineapple fried rice at Thai places. =) My coworkers had the Grilled Pork (Chuleta De Cerdo A La Plancha) and the Three Meats (Tres Carnes). Both were very good. I'm not a pork or meat person myself. DESSERT: I tried 3 different desserts: Tres Leches (Three milk), Flan, and the Natas (dessert made from thickened milk foam). I like the Natas the most. It's light taste with a little sweetness. It's not too heavy but very "Milky" taste! =) Service: GOOD Price: CHEAP Return: YES! (For the Milkshake and Natas! =)
