About the same as any other Subway. During my visit, the staff was very friendly and made my subs just the way I ordered them. I'll definitely visit again.

Very cool concept for a fast food place, I Ordered a double cheeseburger and onion rings and both were phenomenal very fresh in its own league in comparison to fast food chain restaurants. Quick service, REAL food!! Wish i lived closer so I could try more things in the menu but i was just passing through, I would also say that the prices were very reasonable.
Damn good burgers at a damn good price. I pass this place on my way to and from work every day and decided to give it a shot and boy, glad I did. They keep the menu simple and keep it to what they do best. The burgers are rather small if you just get one so those expecting the mondo burgers of Gainesville restaurants might be disappointed, but it's the perfect size for me. The veggie toppings taste super fresh and crunchy. Try the house made cherry coke, it's delicious! Definitely going to be a frequent stop after work for me.
Me and La Chica have driven past this place heading to and from Jacksonville quite a few times and have been intrigued, but never stopped. Well, we decided today that enough was enough! So glad we did too, because these burgers are exactly how I imagine places like McDonald's used to taste before corporate greed and cheap ingredients came into play. Burger Barn, via it's simple and limited menu, serves up no-frills burgers--and it's wonderful. Beef with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese between two buttery grilled buns with "sauce." Simple, yet effective. The "sauce," which I found to resemble and taste like Thousand Island dressing, was perfect for the burger. I asked the girl at the window how long the place had been around, and all she was able to tell me was that the current owner has had the spot since "the early 90's." There really should be more restaurants with smaller menus, so they can perfect their crafts instead of spreading themselves too thin with nonsensical options. Lastly, I'd like to note that they make their own cherry coke. I knew as soon as I took a sip of my drink that it didn't come out of a can, bottle or soda fountain. I asked, and she confirmed they mix it themselves. The taste and the scenery in Hawthorne, FL took me back to more simple times in America. No stroll up or down U.S. 301 would be complete without stopping by this roadside wonder.

Had lunch here today. My lunch special of bbq chicken, mac and cheese and cole slaw was okay, chicken was a bit dry, like it had been cooked a bit too long. Server was great and my half and half iced tea was great....the to go cup lasted through dinner in GA :)
Perfect lunch spot on the way from Tampa to Jacksonville. BBQ chicken was nice and smokey.
We were on the way home from a trip to South Carolina and were really wanting some barbecue when we spotted this little place on the side of 301. We all ordered barbecue sandwiches, pork, beef, and turkey. The sauces were delicious- I mixed the sweet and the hot and it was perfect. The baked beans were wonderful and definitely not canned. The fried okra had a bit of a thick breading, but fresh and yummy. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was prompt and attentive and we felt like we were back in Georgia. This was a very unexpected treat. If we ever pass through again, we will stop again.

Went to Dianne's last night on my way out of town. if you were ever in the same situation, do yourself a favor and keep driving. I had the pulled pork, baked potato and green beans. The pulled pork still had a lot of fat in it and was tasteless. It was drenched in sauce but still dry. The baked potato was nothing to write home about and the green beans were canned with ham thrown in, but they still tasted like water. While I was there, a waitress practically ran over a little girl and then complained about her to her table guests. The little girls' waitress had the decency to ask if the little girl was okay. Before I left I need to use the restroom and there is only one word for the shape it was in -disgusting. Overall, there is no pride in ownership here so keep driving. It's really a shame because it's a beautiful location just off the lake.

We went here for a very early dinner when I had just returned from a trip and was famished. Loved it. Everything we had was great. There was even a man playing classical guitar while he ate. He was very good and I heard the people at the next table remarking the same. Now to describe the food. I had the duck with homemade cranberry-raspberry sauce. It was excellent - crispy skin on the outside, nicely cooked. For my sides I got cheese grits and the vegetable of the day which was stewed okra and tomatoes. Both sides were excellent - nice clean delicate flavor in the veggies and the cheese grits were scrumptious and reminded me of some of the best I had in Savannah. Husband had the red fish grilled and gave me a bite. It was also good. For dessert we split a piece of the sour orange pie which was absolutely killer. In Florida you often get sort of iffy key lime pie with fake whipped cream. This was nothing like that - truly delicious, cream flavored whipped cream, nice thin orange sauce poured over it, crust that was not dry and nasty. To drink I had the house merlot, which was completely passable, and a "Washington Apple" cocktail that I really enjoyed. Finally, this is definitely a quirky place as far as the decor. I enjoyed that too and it gave the place a unique feel.
The Yearling is more than just the food -- it's experiencing a piece of Florida history. I was invited on an annual visit to The Yearling by a group of friends, so we were part of a large party. We had a short wait at the bar -- which was rustic and nice -- and then we were seated. The blues guitar player performing in the dining room was worth the trip in and of himself. We started off enjoying the appetizers. Be forewarned that most of the appetizers are fried -- and ours were served hot, tasty, well-breaded -- not at all greasy. For the main meal, I had the duck, which was good, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if it were crispier on the outside. I had a taste of the venison, and it was excellent -- well seasoned. I'd order that next time. My husband enjoyed his quail (fried). The collards had a nice smokey flavor -- really tasty and everyone in my family commented on how good they were. Portion sizes were fine, not skimpy. My daughter also raved about the key lime pie. Overall, a nice experience. We'd visit The Yearling again.
We stopped here on the way to North Florida and really enjoyed ourselves. I was most impressed that at 3pm there was a "real" blues player who did see good guitar ... The food was good I had gator, frogs legs and duck with a good salad. It's not a "great" place but with the music and the "old time" feel of the place I enjoyed it. -- not cheap either
