The ice cream here is surprisingly really good! The texture is comparable to custard, just without all the richness. But the flavors, like toasted almond or devils food cake, make up for the lack of creaminess. You can tell it's made with quality ingredients. I appreciated it was like regular ice cream except it is made with skim milk and less sugar. I was also told they have hundreds of flavors! The woman who helped me was so kind and willing to give me sample after sample! My 1 year old even got a baby cone for free. I love supporting small shops like this! Stop in for a cone or dish and pick up an extra container of ice cream to go- they have lots of prepackaged flavors in the freezer to buy.

Warning: D'lites may be habit forming. D'lites' soft-serve ice cream is a miracle, because it is low in calories and fat and also tastes like ice cream! D'lites changes its soft-serve flavors each weekday and weekend, so before you drive to Millhopper check on-line the flavors of the day at gatordlites.com .

This place is great. To be honest, I don't buy anything other than the "fake ice cream" as I so lovingly call it. "Fake Ice Cream" is their soft serve, no-sugar, no/low-fat, low-carb ice cream. They have 6 flavors a day - 4 unique, plus vanilla and chocolate. This stuff beats TCBY in my book for texture as well as flavor, though TCBY is still a solid contender. Overall, staff is really friendly too. My only issue is that it's slighly pricey. Not moreso than, say, Ben and Jerry's or Cold Stone. However, at something like 40 cals for a small and 90-100 cals for a "regular" (which is giant!), I would eat this every single day of the week if it were slightly cheaper. I think it's usually around $3 for a regular with no toppings. These freeze really well, incidentally. So I often go on Weds (Buy 2, Get 1 day for anything Regular or larger). My BF and I will each have one, then the 3rd goes right into the freezer for later cravings. One note: don't let the names get you. Things don't always taste exactly like their name. Bad in some cases, but great in others. For instance, I - for some crazy reason - really *loved* the pineapple and chocolate cheesecake swirl... even though, in any other non-fruit item, I generally find pineapple flavor to be a really bad idea. Take advantage of the samples, and you'll find a flavor to meet your healthy-sweet craving!

D'Lites is a specialty combo grocery / ice cream shop for diabetic and low-carb needs. Thank you thank you thank you! At last! My own pregnant, gestational diabetes, feeling-sorry-for-me self can now indulge in sugar-free, fat-free, low-carb soft serve ice cream in flavors like chocolate cheesecake, marshmallow, and peanut butter. And it's actually good! Yum! Not as good as the *real* stuff, but 100% better than any of the other sugarless varieties on the market. The staff is super-friendly, and on game days, you get free orange and blue sprinkles! The rest of their space caters to the diabetic sweet tooth with a variety of boxed and freezer items that lets you indulge guilt-free! YES!

I thought soft serve was only served at buffets and maybe gsame stadiums. I must say it was disappointing. If fat free lacks taste than maybe they need to add a little fat into it to make it taste better. Whats worst is that you can see all the cheap syrups they put into it. Disgusting.

Not only does Dlites have great ice cream, but their cookies are great too. They have many options (fat-free, low fat, etc) for keeping your sweet-tooth healthy! The owners are so nice and the rest of the employees are equally pleasant! Our country needs more places like this. I'd take my kids here over Baskin Robbins (or other fattening dessert places) anytime.

When I first viewed the D'lites commercials on TV, I vowed never to go there. Not only were they marketing to the overweight, they were also marketing to the dimwitted. Something about that commercial made me grit my teeth every time it came on. Well, a few years later, and here I am, eating D'lites. Mainly because I'm on weight watchers and their yogurt (I don't care what they say on the site, it's yogurt and not ice cream) is so low in calories and fat, I can have cups of ice cream on my diet and be okay. The store I frequent is the one on Williston Rd. It is usually pretty empty, and the parking lot always has plenty of space. I went there today with my boyfriend, as we had a buy-one-get-one free coupon. The store is always clean, and the staff are always willing to let you try a few flavors before you buy. Their flavors rotate daily, with chocolate and vanilla being their only constants. Four other flavors are offered every day. However, if you don't like what they have, there is always a large freezer or two full of tubs of all their other flavors, and the coupons can be used for that too. Their flavors today were Andes Mint, Angel Food Cake, Peanut Butter Brownie, and Samoa. After tasting a few, I settled on Angel Food Cake and Chocolate. This is always my staple, to combine chocolate with another flavor. I find that all of one flavor can be too much. The yogurt is pretty dense in my opinion, almost like a custard. The flavors are not strong, a bit muted (I guess that's why they're so low in calories). But for 1-3 ww points, it's definitely worth it. The cups range from $3-$4.50. I will be coming back to D'lites because it's the only yogurt in town I can enjoy while on a diet. It's creamy, smooth, affordable, and the staff are always helpful.

THE BEST 'DIET" ICE CREAM! I walked in, not sure what to expect......but found they DONT use artifical sweeteners (yay) and the ice cream is low calorie and VERY creamy and thick and yummy!! It took me forever to eat my bowl it was that thick, and I kept wondering how on earth it was diet friendly lol. They are a bit expensive, but just grab the latest copy of "Campus Talk" on campus at UF (stacked near the Alligator boxes) and there are ALWAYS coupons in there for by one, get one free! =) Bring a friend with you and 'MMMMMMMM' together as you eat your cup and go wander around the Fresh Market next door!

Not only is the ice-cream delicious AND low calorie---but they have a super nice staff and a really inviting store front. This is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth without busting your belt.

Healthy ice cream? This stuff is like crack. I haven't even thought about another ice cream joint since I found out about this place. The only con is the price. It could stand to be just a tad cheaper. The owners must be making an absolute killing...every time I am there it seems like everyone in the neighborhood had the same idea.

I absolutely love D'Lites ice cream and this place was no exception. In fact, it might be some of the best D'Lites ice cream I've ever had. The shop is located in a little plaza and has a ton of other health foods and protein powders inside. Think Quest Bars, breakfast foods, chocolate bars, etc. The ice cream flavors are excellent and creamy but don't taste too sweet. I got the dark chocolate and the chocolate peanut butter and both were amazing. I wish I had more! Service was really friendly. I would definitely come back if I was in Gainesville again!

This is a nice place to hang out and find healthier alternatives for snacking and guiltless indulgence. I took my boys for ice cream and they didn't know the difference in sugar and fat they were missing. The weight staff was friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be back!

First of all, perfect soft serve texture, awesome selection of flavors (zomg Black Forest Cake) and toppings. Now to address the whole question of the calories. Claim: incredibly low in calories (50 for small, 100 for medium, 150 for large). A huge stink was made after Fox Reporter Arnold Diaz claimed the chain was "selling a lie". A lab test showed a significantly larger calorie count than advertised. Chaos ensued. Visions of the Seinfeld frozen yogurt episode danced in D'lites fans' heads. The chain sued Fox, and that kind of went nowhere. Florida dropped another suit against the chain ( gainesville.com/article/… ) because of no "jurisdiction over calories." HOWEVER "What Diaz omitted from his broadcast was that his own testing laboratory had submitted a supplemental report that contradicted Diaz's initial claims." nbcnews.com/id/43089621/… The lab had measured according to WEIGHT rather than volume. Big difference. The second lab test matched the D'lites claim that the ice cream is low in calories, carbs, and sugar. "D'lites has published Fox's supplemental lab test results on its website, Facebook page and storefront." ( nbcnews.com/id/43089621/… ) While no one claims to know for sure, the fact that a second lab test confirmed the D'lites calorie count is good enough for me to live in whatever ignorance necessary to gulp down a large D'lites twice a week.

I am not a fan of fake ice cream, because if I want ice cream I want the real thing. D'lites is the exception to that! I can't stand the taste of the artificial sweeteners used in most of the healthy alternatives to ice cream, however they don't use artificial sweetness but still keep the calorie count down. While it is disappointing if they don't have one of my favorite flavors on the schedule for the week, D'lites still never disappoints when it comes to service and taste. Their punchcard and daily deals sweeten things even more!

OK I have to update my review We love this place, but we love it because of what they say. Low calorie, diabetic friendly, etc. My mother in-law is diabetic, plus they are a little over weight and always trying to loose weight. They walk to DLites to treat themselves to an ice cream after they've had a good week of eat right. So when I saw this link and watched the video..I was shocked, surprised and then upset. How can we all give this place 5 stars when they are LYING! Read everyone's reviews.."BEST DIET ICE CREAM" etc At the end of the video you get to learn the 50 calories for the small is some what accurate for their nutritional label, but the issue is how much they serve you for the $$ we are paying. They are, on purpose, serving you what you'd expect to get for $4. If you paid for 50 calories worth you'd get a 1/2 small cup full and which would probably only cost $1 or less. So to me this is a business management deception practice thing. Personally I think they should go to the Mochi 'pay per oz' model, which I think would solve this issue. But never the less, 1 star for me until they correct their advertising deception. myfoxny.com/dpp/news/hea…

D'Lites is fantastic. Their ice cream is incredible and it's just 12.5 calories per ounce. You can't beat that. They recently redid the decor and added seating and WiFi. I got my mom one of their low fat, low calorie ice cream cakes for her birthday and she loved it. Definitely go and try it for yourself.

I am not a fan of low calorie ice cream or yogurt but I love the low calorie ice cream here. When I am in Gainesville I often find myself driving towards this part of town, almost against my will, so I can indulge in their ice cream. It is very hard to believe that something this enjoyable is 'guilt free' as regards to calories. They are always glad to give you samples and I would suggest you might want to taste whatever flavor you are thinking about before you decide how large of a cone/cup you want to order. Some of the flavors are fabulous and some taste different than their high fat and sugar versions; chocolate and vanilla are always available. If you are here on a Gator game day and say "gatorize it" they will put orange and blue sprinkles on it for free. I think that if more low calorie ice cream tasted this good there would be little demand for the real thing!

Just plain good! I was skeptical when a friend took me here shortly after I moved to Gainesville. We went to the one on NW 16th. I'm not a person who enjoys diet anything, and ice cream is just about my favorite food, so I was not at all excited about the prospect of what my friend billed as "diet ice cream." Well, let me tell you. It's amazing. I'm not sure what it is -- it isn't ice cream, it isn't yogurt. But it's darn good, with so few of the calories of regular ice cream. Lots of flavor choices, very polite staff, clean eating area. What's not to like? I keep going back and going back. If you aren't, you're missing out. Just plain good.

Delicious and low in calories. Reasonably priced compared to the other yogurt shops. I am especially impressed with how knowledgeable the staff are. For 150 calories you can have a giant yogurt/soft serve, not really sure what it is, but it is yummy. My favorite in town.
