This has to be one of my all time favorite finds in Ft. Myers. The breakfast menu is quite small, but the food is excellent. The owners are from Long Island NY so be prepared for a traditional NY bantering. Also, for those of you that may not understand NY traditions, they believe that if you ask for something that is not on the menu, and they have the ingredients and the equipment to make it, they will. So dont be afraid to ask for something YOUR WAY... The 16 inch pizza will serve a group of 4 hungry eaters...baked on pizza stones, the crust is really crisp. You wont get that soggy crust here. The 10" personal pizza is good for 2 people... its more like a 12 " pizza. If you want the best Italian Wedding cake or Italian Rum cake, you must try Buon Appetitos's. They bring it in from NJ and since I have been back in Florida, I can honestly say I havent found a place until now that serves a real Italian Rum Cake... I can go just for the desert. Price wise you cant get any better. Lunch specials and menu items cost from $5 to $10 with large portions. Maybe you should split a sandwich and get the Rum cake... or the home made, filled to order, chocolate dipped cannolli! The first time I went to this little Cafe I walked up to the door for breakfast around 8:30 and the door was locked... saw the sign said they dont open until 9 am... as I turned around to go back to my car the door opened and I was greeted with a smile..and a warm welcome..."Your here and I'm here, that means were open". That was it for me... true customer service. They have Breakfast although they dont open until 9 am Lunch outstanding... and yes you can have lunch at breakfast time and Dinner.... They also have a fantastic catering menu...

This place was hidden away, but worth it. My friend and I had cheese tortellini in pesto alfredo and it was amaaaazing. Unfortunately, we both took a dessert home (carrot cake and oreo cheesecake) and they were gross. I'm not sure if they had been sitting out too long or maybe had freezer burn or what. Aside from the dessert, I'd eat dinner here again in a heartbeat.

We love Buon Apetito, and make a point to visit whenever we're in the area. I love how they bring the plate with olives, meat/cheese rollup, and bruschetta right when you're seated. The wine is tasty, and they bring it carafe style so the table can share. Salads are good; not so good you'll be in ecstasy, but good. The homemade cavatelli pasta with marinara was really yummy, and my veal marsala was tender and tasty. My husband's chicken francese left something to be desired--the meat seemed spongy or something, not nearly as good as it usually is. On the whole, though, the place is one of our favorites in the area and we will definitely be going back. The family who serves you does so with love and a smile, and that goes a long way.

What I liked most of all here was the ambiance of the restaurant. It just had a fun, comfortable feel, like you could take your time. Our sandwiches were good and filling. Next time we'll try the pizza!

Mostly salads for lunch with a personal pizza. The salads were rated very good and the pizza was OK. The knock against the pizza was an under cooked crust but otherwise good. Service was a bit slow but not terrible and the place could use some cleaning and general sprucing up. Price for good sized lunch portions was reasonable at around $10 per person. I am rounding up on this review as it doesn't really deserve 4 stars but isn't mediocre either. Clean the place up, improve the speed of service and cook the pizzas a bit longer and this place would easily be a solid 4 star maybe even a 5 star joint.

I'm sorry but I didn't like the food neither did my wife. My chicken Parmesan had very little sauce and tasted bland. My spaghetti was over cook and tasted like it's been sitting in water for a while. The sauce on the spaghetti was very salty. My wife had linguini and white clam sauce and it had no flavor at all. The place was crowded but another couple leaving at the same time we were leaving were also complaining about the food. Our bill came to $55.00 with a half carafe of Chianti no desert. Also we asked for a side of sausage she said the only sausage they have tonight was spicy we ordered it at $4.00. One sausage not very spicy in fact also very little flavor. The owner was our server and never came to our table to check on us but was sitting at a table next to ours talking with the couple sitting there. We wont be back!!!

This place is ridiculously amazing. You will be knocked off your feet big time by the homemade pastas, pizza, meats, desserts, and carafes of wine. It is a small intimate dining room operated by an amazing family. This hidden gem is well worth the hunt to find it (as well as the possible wait). A visit to Buon Appetito feels like a legal requirement I have on myself for every visit to Fort Myers. I wish Yelp had a Sixth star to indicate a person's favorite overall restaurant ever. This spot would be seriously considered by me.

You will not find a more authentic Italian Restaurant within 100 miles of Fort Myers. Since my wife and I discovered this fine establishment we go there almost weekly. The staff is so friendly, the food is out of this world. I tell all of my clients to go there. I even pass out gift certificates to some of them. No matter what you order off of the menu or the specialty menu it is perfecto!

"Great food and staff. Horrible management. Expect long waits. Owners need a class in table management. People are allowed to remain for hours. Not good."

On a downhill slide and may not recover. I was the first to write about this little hidden red sauce place many years ago. Loved it then. I keep hoping that it will come back, but I am afraid it has not much time left. In the height of season, yesterday I wandered in at 12:30 for lunch and only two tables had patrons and no one had food. I waited for about 6 minutes for someone to come from the back to acknowledge me but no such luck. The case that used to have home made desserts and salads and veggies was now filled with 1.5 liters of cheap wine. It makes me sad, but looks like Buon Appetito's time has run out.

Excellent, cozy Italian restaurant. It's small and family run (not a corporate chain) and you want to like it before the food even comes. Based on the Yelps, we've been wanting to come here for some time. We came mid-morning on a Saturday in April and started with two espressos, & then shared a pizza & a Caesar salad, finished off nicely with a chocolate cannoli for dessert. Everything was delicious. The pizza rivals Grimaldi's. They weren't busy when we were there, and three different family members/owners came to our table to talk. Very nice people. Hmm, did they think I was Jean LeBoeuf? :)

After looking for weeks trying to find this superb cafe we excitedly found available tables. This is Ft Myers best kept secret if you are not Italian You know it just has to be original. The server was friendly, beautiful and made us feel welcome. The chef came out to receive his compliments. There were many. I haven't eaten so much pasta in years. Wonderful, so Italiano!

We stopped in after 10 hours on the road. We found it through yelp and saw the great reviews. This place was great. I had eggplant parm which always seems to be a hit or miss at Italian restaurants. It was perfect here. Probably one of my favorites. Finished up with a cannoli.

Found Buon Appetito on yelp. I loved this place, the service and the food. We were on our way to Clearwater from Big Cypress / Everglades. We looked a bit scrubby but the server treated us as if we were the restaurant's best customers. Because of him and the fact that my son practically licked his plate clean, I felt less guilty about dragging my husband 10 miles off of I75 to eat. Definitely worth the drive!

If you like Italian food then by all means go there. I am from RI which is well known for Italian food especially the Federal Hill section of Providence. This restaurant is authentic Italian! Small, maybe 10-12 tables inside and a few outdoor tables. Food and service were excellent.

Amazing little hole in the wall. Hard to find, but definitely worth it. Make sure you call and make reservations because it's always busy! I'm a big fan of the lasagna, ravioli, and lemon cannolis

I visit fort Myers several times a year and was glad to find this little restaurant hidden right outside Edison college. Great for dinner and a show...or so I thought. I've been twice before and have referred many people to them, but our xmas eve experience was terrible. 1st.. When I called to make a reservation, I was pretty tersely told to " be sure I was on time. " Hmmm...I just called you requesting a time...so I'm pretty sure I'll be there. What's with the tude? But I guess that should have told me they were super busy that night and may have overbooked reservations. We arrived...on time... And were seated. It took a while to get the appetizers they usually present you with upon arrival...no problem. It was busy and we were in no rush. But apparently they were!! We ordered a pizza as an appy for the table and from that moment on we were rushed thru our meal. I felt they were hovering over us , grabbing our plates as the last mouthful was still on its way to our mouths. I noticed we were eating faster to accommodate them. I did snap at the waiter, whom I later apologized to, but I've never felt so rushed at a dinner. The owner came out and didn't ask us as much ad tell us " your meal is fine?". In addition..the server delivering our meals didn't know WHAT he was delivering...never mind WHO got WHAT. I ordered chicken Marsala and there was, honestly, 1 mushroom on my plate. The sauce tasted like campbells canned gravy...and I don't mean the Italian's version of gravy...which I call sauce... I mean canned turkey or chicken gravy. It was AWFUL. I was embarrassed to have brought a guest, along with family members who had never been here. Wrap the leftovers up?? No thanks. I gave 2 stars because past visits have been nice experiences, but our xmas eve experience deserves NO stars. I won't be recommending buon appetite again and I'm not sure if I'll go back. It was the worst dining out experience I can remember having.

Two words: white lasagna. Oh my god. Please, please, PLEASE bottle this sauce so I can buy 10,000 jars and bathe in it. Cannolis rock too. Spaghetti is amazing. Tiramisu is to die for. It's small, and I think they like it like that. Food trumps any negative views on the size or homeliness of the location. GO. Best Italian food around here.

Everything here is beyond fantastic. Owners are fantastic people. Go here and have anything on the menu and you will not be disappointed. Try Gabe's veal (my favorite) pizza is awesome and his homemade bread pudding, cannoli or lava cake with a perfectly brewed espresso, is a perfect ending to a delicious meal. Priced right. AAAAA++++.

Caprese salad was basically a Cisco brand, mushy tomato with iceberg lettuce and store bought basalmic dressing. Very disappointing. Spaghetti and meatballs were so-so, but very overpriced. $14 for spaghetti, then $4 extra for two meatballs. Meal did not come with bread or Parmesan cheese. Not good!

Came here for some good Italian food on date night and we were absolutely blown away! It's a sit yourself place, and we were instantly greeted with a smile! Never caught the waitress' name but she was awesome! I had the 10" margarita pizza, and my boyfriend had the lasagna. It all came out hot and delicious! We could both tell the ingredients were fresh. We got a cheesecake to go, can't wait to try it out! We will be coming back, and we will definitely recommend our friends! Thank you for everything!!

We went to Buon Appetito today, May 10th on Mother's Day with a group of friends. WE WERE TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY. The food was better than any Italian restaurant that I have been too in Florida as well as NY/NJ were we have lived for years. The service was exceptional and the owner Gabe, his wife and daughter were engaging and there to please. Ray Livosi, a Frank Sinatra tribute artist, was phenomenal and extremely talented . I strongly urge you to try this outstanding restaurant, I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Gus Campestre

This place is as good as it gets! I had the Veal Osso Bucco, best I ever had! Sister had a chicken dish that she could not stop raving about. Home made bread, relaxed atmosphere and great service. We will be regulars for sure.

Some friends took us to Buon Appetito Cafe as a reward for dog sitting and the food was outstanding! The pasta with pesto and sausage was so good that I duplicated it at home and the service was great. I would recommend this to anyone looking for great Italian food. We will be going back and bringing friends with us.

Best Italian restaurant I've ever been to and it's all homemade by the owner and his family. They have most foods you won't even find at other Italian places. They play Frank Sinatra type music and I love the atmosphere.

This is not a franchise. Don't miss this place. This is where people that know "Italian" Italian food go. My mom is a food purist. This is one of the few places that she won't complain. She's from the old country and can tell the difference between fake and real in about 3 minutes. This place therefore deserves a full 5 star rating. Any place that can keep my dear old mom from complaining is doing a great job. Merry Christmas.

I agree with Sharon, I used to order lunch from here a few times a week for a couple of us here in the office. The orders began to get royally screwed up and sloppily made to the point where we finally asked to speak to a manager. Well... we got the owner, and I have to tell you this gentleman fits the "Soup Nazi" persona perfectly. I politely tried to explain our experiences the last few times we had ordered. I had hoped we could rectify the situation by drawing attention to the poorly made delivery orders. I was greeted with an absolutely nasty individual, foul mouthed and unprofessional. Considering the order was around $40 or $50, there are other places MORE THAN happy to take our money. I won't be back, don't waste your time...

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
