Went to this place twice in the 6 days I was in the area. Nice little place with friendly locals and a laid back blue collar feel. All in all I'll def. be back. Price: Prices were very cheap compared to up here, and the food was good too. The second day we had 36 oysters (mix of steamed and raw), two servings of the jalapeno hushpuppies, a grouper sandwich & fries, a dozen wings and two pitchers of yeungling for $57! Granted some stuff was on special because of the game-time deals, but we were there earlier in the week without specials and it was still almost that cheap. Drinks: Full bar, though some of the bottles looked empty (example - Maker's Mark). Not a ton of draft beer to choose from either, but they had Yeungling on draft and it was nice and fresh. The game-time special is $6.00 Bud pitchers, but here's a KEY TIP. Yeungling is also only $6 during game time! Two weeks ago I was paying that for a GLASS in NYC. We also had Yeungling off-special a few days earlier, but I don't think it was more than 8-9 bucks then either. Food: The oysters were great. A little bit of a wait, but not bad at all. The oysters are from Texas and thereabouts. I haven't traveled as much as my sister, but she said they were a lot better than west coast and comparable to blue point oysters. (Gasp! Someone's opinion other than my own!! Someone alert Yelp ASAP!!) The hot wings were pretty good too. Next time I'll probably order one level hotter. (We had the middle one and they frankly weren't that spicy.) The jalapeno hush puppies were tasty, but very mild. But hey, 8-10 of them for $1.99? Deal.

The service was awful, the food was alright. I will never return. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get our food. I had actually gotten up to tell the waitress to cancel our order when it came out. The shrimp cocktail appetizer came out at the same time as our food. When the food came out I asked for our bill, it took another 20 minutes to get. The cook, who brought our food out actually had to refill our drinks. He told us the entire wait staff was new. Wow. Don't stop here unless your ready to waste a lot of time.

Wow. No frills, it's a troff. Some of the best oysters you can eat. Fresh and delicious.

Stopped here on our way to the Bay Street Players Theatre to see Camelot on Saturday in Eustis. We love Oysters and Fish Dip and It's hard to find a great place for them. As soon as we went in the family owned restaurant/bar made us feel right at home. We ordered a dozen steamed oysters and fish dip. Both were beyond belief, FANTASTIC, HUGE AND TASTY! The beers and food were a great price and our bartender/server Abby treated us like family. Had a great time and would highly recommend if you're looking for some top notch Oysters and service. A man across the bar was eating Oysters and found a pearl in his and he gave it to me...really sweet and I will keep it forever.

There is a dive oyster bar in Eustis called The Oyster Troff where it is like Cheers, everybody knows your name. Even for us first timers, the locals that were there were super friendly, as were the staff. The place is definitely nothing to look at but that is pretty typical of oyster places. There is one main oyster bar that goes out and back in a narrow "U" shape. There was a back room with another bar, pool table and dart boards but this area was closed this Saturday early evening. On the side is a larger dining area with tables where not a soul was sitting. But if you're eating oysters you want to sit at the bar so you can chuck your used shells into the trough behind the bar. Our shucker, we heard someone call him Mike, was very friendly and fast at his job. He actually offered my 2 year old son a dollar if he'd try his first (steamed) oyster. We talked him into taking a bite and the entire bar got a laugh out of his reaction as he swallowed the bite and shivered. He earned that dollar! We ended up getting to know some of the other patrons and were buying drinks and passing oysters back and forth, it was really a lot of fun! The oysters were really good, nice and salty, and they give you real lemons, not lemon juice, which is nice. The conch fritters were ok but had some really crunchy batter parts so that when you bit into them it almost felt like a piece of rock! My complaint about the place would be that they only had 1 shucker and 1 server working. That wasn't a problem when we got there at 6pm but by the time we ordered that second bucket around 7pm we had to wait quite a while for Mike to shuck other's buckets first. These two workers were running around like crazy because the small bar was now full. Still, it isn't a place where you hurry and we were having fun so it was tolerable. Also, when we got our bill it was $76. It was just a hand-written bill so we weren't even sure what cost what. This is what we got: 2 buckets of oysters, 10 peel and eat shrimp (30 cents a piece), conch fritters, a kid's meal and drinks. We are still trying to add it up! I know the oyster buckets were $23, which seems a little pricey unless they are high because it's off-season or because of the oil spill. Either way a bucket at Lee and Rick's in Orlando cost $18 on our last visit. We will definitely be back; we are just going to watch the prices a little more closely!

YES!!! Didn't think I'd ever find a place to make me forget the "Old" Bowen's Island, but by God, we may have hit paydirt! Big fat juicy oysters, shucked in front of you by a guy who's proud to serve 'em, right on the bar. After slurping, just push the shells of the bar and into the troff. Repeat when necessary... Next time, we're gettin' the bushel.

Largest oysters I have ever seen. VERY reasonable. Great key lime pie. Homemade. Try the fish dip. Great fried shrimp. Currently re-modeling. Bartender/Oyster Shucker was very friendly and funny.

We came here twice in two days. I'm officially in love. The first day we came in, a little old woman was drunker than a skunk and fell down, creating a buzz of activity. Because of the ensuing drama the service started out a bit slow, but once the food and drinks started flowing I was a very happy lady. Raw oysters: About $8 for a dozen outside of happy hour- otherwise they're under $7. Delicious! Big, fat, juicy oysters shipped in from Texas, these bad boys were great. I ordered them both times we were there and both times was extremely satisfied. I can't speak for their aphrodisiac powers, but if my taste buds could sigh with contentment... Live Maine Lobster: $15 for a lobster as big as my head! Boiled up with some corn and a few sides, it was an exceptionally simple presentation that complimented the fresh lobster beautifully. The meat was juicy & perfectly cooked, preserving the natural lobster brine/juices that I greedily slurped up. This was the first time I was able to share a delicious, well-prepared lobster with my boyfriend and he was a quick convert. Chicken Wings: We tried three flavors; Garlic Butter (just meh), Hot (good combination of vinegar, spices & heat! We liked these better than the other hot wings we've tried in town) and the ragin' cajun (WINNER!). The wings themselves have a good combination of crispiness to their exteriors with juicy meat, all blanketed in a sauce. The ragin' cajun had the best combination of flavors from our perspectives. Both times we were here we tried some wings and the boy was really taken with them. Oyster Chowder: Thick, creamy soup with great seasoning, plump pieces of oyster, tender bites of potato; I had two orders last time we went because I don't know when I'll be able have any again that's THIS good! The beer selection is on par with most of the places around town, but happy hour is where it's at: two for one drinks! It's cheap enough that friendly locals might just offer to buy you a beer if you strike up a conversation with them and if they don't, no pain for your wallet. The service can be a little slow given that there's usually only one shucker around & one bartender, but they'll make sure you're taken care of if you're patient!

Don't. Waited over a half hour -- for RAW food....ordered the chowder which tasted mostly of either flour or cornstarch and was room temperature. When steamed clams FINALLY arrived...they were tasty -- but dry...and raw oysters took over 30 minutes. Ambience?? Well...back room was all that was available -- nice if you're into bare light bulbs. Never again. Yuck.

If you're looking for oysters, this is as good as it gets. They shuck those big 'ol beauties right in front of you with a smile. It gets real crowded weekend nights though, so be patient!

My only regret is that I can't give the Oyster Troff 10 stars! If you love oysters, there is no better place I know of anywhere in the world, than The Oyster Troff in Eustis, FL. These guys are a testament to doing a few things really, really well! Whether you're a first timer or a regular, you'll feel welcome instantly. The freshness, flavor and size of their oysters are second to none. Starting at about $8.00 a dozen (that's no typo) and decreasing when you get the bucket or bushel, you can actually make oysters your main course without breaking the bank. I've tried their burgers and wings as well, but can't bring myself to waste time on the side shows when the main attraction is so over the top. That said, their wings are absolutely perfect and also an unbelievable value. Add a good selection of beer, low priced mixed drinks and as welcoming a "down home" atmosphere as you can imagine and this place is worthy of being a destination in and of itself!

The Oyster Troff is an awesome oyster bar with great food, cold beer even better prices. And don't forget the raw oysters shucked right there in front of you. Service is friendly and attentive. This is my new favorite local spot!

This is the easiest review of all! I agree with ALL of the yelpers who reviewed the "Troff".... Yelp is how we found it in the first place. I would definitely add that this place is a "destination" restaurant. Venture up to Eustis for fat oysters and cold beer. The rest of their menu is really good too. They have happy hour.

Been to many Oyster Bars and this one is the best! Go here for food-not necessarily service. Tons of regulars. Wed nights have great happy hour specials ALL NIGHT.

This place is as good as it gets. I was a little reluctant the first time I went because of its outward appearance. The staff makes you feel welcome, even if it's your first time there (it was my first time eating oysters, too!). They shuck 'em you suck 'em. It's clean and I like the idea of the bar all around the place so you can people watch and have conversation with someone across the room. There's darts and pool in the back and full liquor bar. The price is right! Go to Happy Hour (I think between 5 and 7???) and spend @ $10 for a dozen oysters and a couple of beers and the tip.

I had a terrible experience. First the map directions lead you to the same street # but on the south end instead of the north end of the street. I sat at the oyster bar. I asked if the steamed seafood/oysters came with real butter or just margarine and was told by the waiter that it was real butter erroneously which I found out from the owner after I had ordered. I ordered a dozen raw, a salad, garlic toast, fried pickles and a bucket of steamed oysters and told the bar waiter that I wanted the raw ones, salad, toast and pickles first in the quickest order as I hadn't eaten all day. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting. And asked several times why I didn't have the dozen raw yet or my salad??? He finally brought me this too nasty to eat salad which I returned because it was old iceberg lettuce with bad bits all throughout and no good veggies on top! No toast! Finally I got the pickles which weren't bad but they give you a very tiny portion for $7.00! And still no toast and no oysters while people that came in after me were getting food. I finally canceled the raw oysters and should have just left...... Because it took an hour and 15 minutes to finally get the steamed oysters which are nasty when dipped in hydrogenated oil that is 1 step from being a plastic. I told the owner that they should have real butter for those that will pay extra; he pretends that that is what his customers want when I know damn well it's a cost issue. It's too bad that so many stupid Americans accept fake poisonous food so that owners like this one can pawn it off.

If you want fresh oysters there is no place I have found better than the oyster troff. We've been going here for years and they are great. Nothing fancy just good.

Was not very happy with the expierence i had at the oyster bar in eustis .i am a sucker for oyster bars and dives I ordered shrimp and oysters it took 42 minutes to get my food as i was ready to just walk out the young lady who i hadnt seen for refills or to even ask if maybe id like a app while im waiting came and said it will be just a few more minutes. Thats fine but id just like to be notified atleast so i could have ordered something to hold me over. But once i got the food it was great... i mean great!! Like heaven in my mouth it was worth the wait. Maybe it was just their off time or maybe short staffed b.c there were only 2 other people in the reataurant but i will give this place another try here soon

this is a 5 star dive dump. I loved the garlic chicken wings. Loved the oysters. only ordered 1/2 dozen but they gave me 9. my wife got the white fish ( forgot the real name) broiled. It was amazing. Met a great couple, had a great time. You have to sit at the bar. My only mistake. Do not order beer by the mug, get a pitcher it is a lot cheaper. My wife almost turnaround when we went in, but now she can't wait to go back.

As a few other reviews I've read will also say, it can be quite a wait for the food.. And I agree. My parents and I went for dinner on a Sunday, the bar quickly filled up after we arrived & our server seemed to be getting overwhelmed (although she was still very friendly, just frazzled a bit). Now for the reason I'm only giving two stars.. I LOVE you seafood and have eaten a lot of it! I ordered the steamer plate and although it "looked" ok, I have NEVER eaten such bland and borderline tasteless crab legs!! Now it was cooked very well, but literally tastes like it was cooked in plain water? In my experience there's usually SOME sort of seasoning?? My shrimp seemed a bit over-cooked and it looked like someone dumped old bay on them. The only positive thing about my dinner was the clams, also plain but I still enjoyed them! My mom ordered clan strips and she shared a few, that's definitely what I will order next time! The oysters were small due to the season but very tasty.

If you are looking for 5 star dinning this is not it. If you want FRIENDLY service, GREAT food this is it. We love this place. Cold Beer, fresh oysters shucked right in front of you, tasty WINGS and did I mention ICE COLD BEER. I haven't ordered anything yet that I didn't enjoy. It gets busy on the weekend so calm down find a stool and relax. The best seats are around the bar and you might even have a good conversation with the person next to you.

Sweet. Simply just good eats. I had oysters on the 1/2 shell, shrimp basket, jalapeño hush puppies, washed down with a Rebel IPA on tap. Added plus they make their own french fries...thin cut!!! My best meal in Florida to date. Perfect end to a day of second hand store shopping.

Great oyster bar with a trough to toss the shells. Had 4 dozen oysters and a delicious seafood combo - shrimp, clams, fish, hush puppies and slaw.

Three separate oyster bars give you a good chance to get a spot at the bar. Good oysters and accoutrements, I'll be back to check out the food coming from the kitchen.

This is one of our favorite local places! It's the best hole in the wall oyster bar I've ever been to. In fact, I've lived in Eustis my whole life and didn't even realize it was there until about a year ago. Since then we make sure to go at the very least once a month. I went for my birthday dinner this year and the staff made us feel like family. They let us bring in a homemade birthday cake (which was the size of Texas so we shared with the staff) and even gave me a free t-shirt! Not only that night for my birthday, but each and every time we go there Abby really goes out of her way to make sure we have a great experience.

Tried this place for the first time Sunday and it won't be the last! The steamed oysters were fantastic, the wings were excellent, the fish dip was great and the beer was ice cold. What more do you want?

When I lived in Missouri I used to dream about places like this. Shuck em, serve em up raw right there on the bar, mix the cocktail sauce to your own personal taste, grab a pack of crackers and go to town. Then when you're finished, rake em into the trough behind the bar. Damn this is good eatin. Oysters are fresh and not too pricey. Their fancy oysters are good but I'd rather have another dozen raw. This is definitely a "go to" place
