The food took 45 minutes to get. They waitress put our drinks down and disappeared until the food came. The chicken in Wild Mushroom Alfredo was over cooked & dry. This was our 4th time with bad service and food that took way too long to get. Will not go back.

Went with friends to try dinner at this restaurant in this quaint little town. The atmosphere is nice as it's spacious & open. We had an attentive server, & we all enjoyed our food. I was disappointed that their dessert selection is very limited. We had to ask our server as it wasn't listed anywhere, & she had only three choices for us to select from. We did have an enjoyable evening here with our friends.

Really nice cocktails, but not a large beer selection. The food was tasty and the salmon was fresh. The live music was cool, too. Somewhat of an older crowd, but still fun. It would have been nicer if you could go on the second floor balcony and eat there. Overall it was a fun time and I would go back.

My wife and I have eaten here twice, First visit was good, second was so/so. staff still needs training to make the experience consistent. also food wasnt very inconsistent, I had the pork burger during both visits, 1st time it was awesome, 2nd visit it was terrible. My wife also had the mahi dish on both occasions, same results, 1st time was great, second was terrible. we will try again and make a judgment after that. A local place to grab a couple of drinks is a much needed addition to eustis, hopefully they will work out the kinks!

Awesome food, amazing craft cocktails. Lunch and dinner are to die for! Burgers, choice steaks, fabulous salads and appetizers... Plus house-made salad dressings and pickles! The details are the thing that sets 1884 apart. Definitely try this place!

Just had dinner here for the first time tonight with my Husband and Parents. My Husband had the chili and loved it. For dinner I had the Butternut Squash with pasta in a cream sauce. It was good but the sauce was bland and could have had a little more flavor. My husband and father both had the pork burger and loved them! Mom had the salmon and thought is was excellent. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and has been beautifully restored. The service was Awesome!!! Tony was our server and he was fabulous. We'll be back.

We had gone in for the first time today to have a few drinks. The bar tender Jacquelyn was very knowledgeable about all the wiskeys and other products. Loved the atmosphere and the size of the place. There was lots of food being served that looked and smelled great. Going back for a dinner in a few days and hope it's as good as it looks and sounds.

Great service and yummy food. The black and bleu burger is amazing. Don't leave without trying a cream puff. Seriously. Jacquelyn was great! Be sure to request her. :)

Bakery is what enjoying a homemade dessert is all about!! You can taste the Love and attention that goes into each and every one. My favorite is the giant eclairs... Heaven!! The triple cake is decadently, and sinful.. And to top it off the new homemade scratch buns are perfect!!

This place is still new and I am sure going through what every restaurant goes through when they first open, but they are definitely not off to a good start. My wife and I went on a Saturday night, made reservations and were seated upon arrival. The atmosphere is STUNNING, you could tell they had spent a lot of time and money on attention to detail in decorating the place. However, it did not translate to the rest of the experience. The restaurant was about half full, but right away, you could tell that the waitstaff was overwhelmed. They had a large birthday party in one of the back rooms which seemed to cause them serious stress and all the waitstaff was running through the dining room like chickens with their heads cut off. After the hostess seated us, we waited a few minutes and then our waiter came and took our drink orders. We both ordered appetizers which turned out to be the best part of the meal. I had the Caprese Salad and my wife had the Roasted Beet Salad- both were delicious and we thought would be indicative of the main course. I ordered a beer and my wife a glass of wine. The wine was brought in a proper BIG wine glass, which made me very happy, as a class restaurant should serve their wine in proper glasses. One thing to note about 1884 is that they give you the Appetizer/Drink list first, which I found odd, but thought it was a very novel approach. The menu has the main courses, but seeing it after, I could see where you may be disappointed because your appetizers may not match what you want for dinner. Meanwhile, the table next to us was having words with our server that they had been waiting for their dinner for so long that they could no longer wait anymore and had to leave. So, they got up and left, to the chagrin of the waiter. In any case, he came back to us and the waiter told us that the signature dish was the Pork Chop, but I opted for the New York Strip, ordered Medium to Medium Rare, my wife ordered the Blackened Mahi. We also opted for the mashed potatoes and the grilled asparagus. I ordered a glass of wine for myself, which he originally forgot, but when he did bring it, imagine my disappointment to see it in one of the typical cafeteria style tiny wine glasses. However, the wait for the main course wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but once I got my steak, it was blood red, barely seared on the grill. When I finally got my waiter back over, he sent it back and it was re cooked to a more medium finish. They did put on new sides, though, which is a plus. My steak was no better than you can get at my local grocery store. My wife's Mahi was a blackened hockey puck, she couldn't even finish it. The mashed potatoes were mediocre at best, and the asparagus was hardly grilled- it seemed to have been boiled, and was tasteless. It was also served with a drawn butter that tasted rancid- just terrible. Neither of us finished our meals and opted out on dessert for fear of being more disappointed. All in all, a very mediocre experience, our waiter, although overwhelmed, seem to try very hard and I can't knock him for the service, as he was the best part of the evening. The food here seems very industrialized, like they get their stock from Sysco. In this day and age of restaurants serving locally sourced and fresh food, I was disappointed to see a new place not prepare their food this way. I can only hope that these are early teething problems and I will watch the reviews here to see if they start getting better, at which point I we will give 1884 another shot at dinner.

I'm always pleased when I eat here as the food is delicious and the atmosphere unique and enjoyable. The pork burger, fried pickles, and edamame are delicious. Prices are fair. Highly recommend!

This building was originally a department store, first opened in 1884. After a number of incarnations, 1884 Restaurant has finally managed to celebrate an anniversary here! Probably because their food and staff is much stronger than in the past. This locale's bar is beautiful. A massive thing that seems to belong in a bygone era. Their selection of whiskeys and bourbons is fantastic, and their bar peeps know what to make you even if you don't. The menu is compact, but everything I've tried has been very tasty with lovely presentations. Their service is attentive without being overbearing; though I did once have to wait for change a ridiculous amount of time, and it was wrong. They have a couple balcony areas good for parties and events, just call ahead to book it as large parties have been know to request seating there. Overall I dig this place, even if just for a leisurely libation on a sweltering afternoon. They're open Monday's too, which surrounding places are not.

Service was average. Servers were all friendly but seemed to be behind with the workload. Food was pretty darn good. Pork chop was cooked perfectly and tasted good. Burger was decent. Fried pickles were good. Drink service was really slow for us. Tried the Dirty Blue Pig martini.... Horrible. Basil drink was good. Overall service was a 3 and food 3.5, rounding up to 4 because the place was really nice and atmosphere helped make the experience enjoyable.

Nice and roomy inside, clean and nice looking, but not much to choose from... One time I went and the waitress was nice but then the second time visiting my friend and I were treated like 10 year olds who didn't know how to speak English. So in all, the service is alright I guess, the food is okay with not much to choose from, and the inside is nice. But that's about it.

First time here. Atmosphere was great and the service was terrific. I had the beet soup, pork shop and potatoes and they were fantastic! Kids loved the Mac and cheese and hamburger from kids menu. The value is amazing for the quality of service and food!

We love the freshness of the salad and homemade dressing. Burgers are good. Pasta with butternut squash is a nice flavor change. We will definitely come back as it is nice to have decent food without going too far from home.

I had dinner here the other night with a couple of friends. One of them comes here often and raves about it, so I drove to Eustis to meet them. I started off my meal with their wedge salad, which is enormous and definitely enough for 2-3 people! I didn't expect that at all, but then again, it is $10. Instead of bacon, they use pork lardons (pieces of fatback or salt pork), which were pretty overcooked in this salad. I missed the saltiness/crispiness factor of actual bacon. I ordered their sirloin steak for dinner. It came perfectly cooked, but didn't have much flavor at all. It tasted like it hadn't been seasoned before it was grilled and it needed salt. The baked potato wasn't much on flavor, either. Compared to my friends, though, I felt pretty fortunate. Both of them ordered the bacon parmesan pasta, which is a pasta in a creamy sauce with parmesan cheese. One of my friends asked me to taste it, and sure enough, it was extremely bland. No seasoning at all and only a faint hint of garlic. It was also extremely greasy, to the point where pools of yellow grease were sitting at the bottom of their plates. Gross! One of my friends explained the issue to the server, who said, "What do you want me to do about it?" My friends asked for more cheese to see if they could make it tolerable, which they were given, but even that wasn't enough. My friend spoke to the manager and got the pastas taken off the check and paid for everything else. She said the manager was helpful and receptive to what she was saying. Our server apologized to us, but it really wasn't enough to make the experience better. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things, but I don't feel like this experience was worth the money or the drive.

My DIL and I went to 1884 hoping to enjoy a nice meal and an adult beverage. We chose to sit in the bar area - which was a mistake. Our server had a very bad attitude which was obvious when he threw our beverage napkins at us. Downhill from there as server also made his own drinks and was only qualified to open a beer. Food wasn't great either. My side salad was wilted and ugly and DILs steak was bland. Mahi was good-I'm giving stars for that. Would we go back? Absolutely not. It wasn't just the nasty server, the food was mediocre at best.

My friend took me here after discovering this gem. We went intending on having a few drinks and calling it a night but we ended up staying until damn near closing time because of how awesome this place is. We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting and being served by one of the best bartenders I've come across, ever. We were served amazing craft drinks and ended the night ordering a few plates of food to share. Everything was delicious! We joked that we would tell no one about 1884, to save the secret for ourselves, but really they deserve the patronage. Go, soak in the great atmosphere and enjoy every thing you can get your hands on!

Nice place first time the burger were great. This time I had a hotdog stuffed with cheese and peppers wrapped in bacon and deep fried. Was good but the cheese in the hotdog was not melted. Wife ordered a burger and it was not has good as the first time. Manger was very good at taking care of the mistake. Not sure if we will go back. Was a little disappointing.

I've eaten there 8-10 times and was almost always pleased. Their salads are great as are the hamburger and ground pork burger. When I tried the pasta dish, it was disappointing. Not bad, just not great. The service and servers are a plus. Wine is reasonable. Music is really enjoyable

Dear Friends: My wife and I were very tired and hungry last evening. After a long day and stressful day I don't really want to look for a restaurant at 9:00 PM. Chris at 1884 was polite, patient, attentive, and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The music was great. Food and beverage selection was great. Our food and beverages were terrific. For all the late night workers of Lake County: 1884 owners, night managers, and especially Chris hit a Grand Slam of hospitality on 9/9/2015. Congratulations! Lance Pauli.

Stopped in for lunch during the holiday lull. Was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meal and the attentive service. I definitely want to go back and check out the dinner menu.

Corn chowder gritty like the broth had broken. Big chunks under cooked potatoes not worth eating. They replaced the soup with underwhelming bland unsalted mashed potatoes. Whoever is cooking n eeds to bring out seasoning for their food. Will probably not return

The restaurant is bigger than you'd expect, very high ceilings, but still comfortable. There was an entertainer singing and playing guitar, which was good, but made it difficult for conversations. The food overall was good, but the sauces for some of the appetizers and main dishes was lacking. The waitress was good, but did not seem to get the support she needed from the kitchen and bar. Drinks were good but slow to arrive. Salad and soup came just after the dinners, which was a coordination issue with the kitchen. This place could be very good with better management and more staffing, they're not too far off.

We are new to the area and have been trying the restaurants. Read reviews and we decided to go to 1884 last night. Service was poor. Got an appetizer and didn't have silverware. Asked for it and after 5 minutes asked another server for it. We had the grilled shrimp. It was okay...nothing great. For dinner my husband ordered the pork burger and I tasted it. Again, it was okay. Nothing to rave about. He also ordered a cup of the chili, which we waited for and I asked if they could bring it out, which they did and then brought another cup with his burger instead of fries. Had to ask for fries that go with burger. I ordered a cup of the soup of the day, which was tomato basil. I didn't like the taste at all..something was overpowering and didn't eat it. Also ordered the roasted beet salad for dinner since I'm not a big eater and it was, again, okay. Doubt if we'll go back. Will try other restaurants in the area. Oh, they did have a good cocktail.

Just so so. There's absolutely no atmosphere in this place and the food is average at best. Won't make the drive again.
