A friend and I went there around 9pm on a Monday. We sat at the tiki bar outside. We ordered a lobster roll to split, peel and eat shrimp, fish dip, and the coconut fried cheesecake. The lobster roll tasted good, despite the fact that the lobster was previously frozen and tasted like it was mixed only with mayo and celery. The bread was pretty good too, although a bit small. Fries were thin cut, fresh, and crispy. Peel and eat shrimp was nothing to write home about, but still good. Fish dip tasted good, and when we ran out of more crackers we were brought more after we asked. Cheesecake was good, and the mango sauce was a nice touch. There were no "wow factors" about the food, but comparing previous experiences at other places like this, Flounders exceeded my expectations. The best part of this dining experience was probably the Tiki Margaritas. They were made with patron tequila and fresh squeezed orange and lime juice. Although, with a $13 price tag, I will probably never order them again. The worst part was probably the bartender's unapproachable and unfriendly demeanor. On the plus side, the bar was very clean and the pace of service was excellent. She just lacked personality and a smile.

After reading some the reviews, it seems that a lot of the negative reviews are because of their slow service. I came here with a group of 4 at around 9 pm, and we received excellent service and our meals arrived very quick. I was really surprised to see the reviews, but our experience here was definitely the best out of all the other restraints we've eaten at during our week-long vacation in the area. I highly recommend the flounder with the artichoke! Maybe that's the reason the place is called Flounders?! Best thing I ate, and I wasn't even that hungry! For a juicier drinks I recommend "Day at the Beach", but if you want to go all out, go with their strongest beverage which is the Big Daddy. One or two of these big daddys will make you a lot funnier and laugh extra loud, beware. The experience doesn't stop with only the awesome service and delicious food, but they constantly have wonderful live performances rather than some loud radio mix on repeat. If you feel like you need some sort of activity after consuming a couple of Big Daddys and a nice meal, there's a few games of cornhole available too! This place was honestly the best, I highly recommend this to tourists stopping by and to the locals living there!

I'm writing this honest review as I continue to wait 2+ hours for my party of fours entrees to arrive. To start reservations are not accepted. The anticipation for our appetizers was well over an hour and a half (we ordered wings, a salad, and coconut shrimp-- longer than driving back to preheating the oven and making them at home). You come for the "live" entertainment but can expect to hear the over played cha-cha slide or YMCA or the wobble. The service from the kitchen mimics the waitress staff-- never even gave us silver wear. Keep scrolling for a decent seafood place- or if you want to wait 2+ hours you're better off going fishing. UPDATE-- We arrived at 6:30. Finally got the entrees at 9:00!! ICE COLD. My 9yr old was served Raw steak!!! Needless to say all of are meals were sent back. No wayyyy were we eating/paying for the awful galley food!! Read other reviews for this joint before you regret!!

Don't be enticed by the live music. The food was just okay and although the drinks were good, $13 for a blood mary is bloody crazy! Be leery of drink menus void of prices. The food was expensive for the portions given. Avoid this place.

Like another said, the four of us had great service, food was good and live music was a welcome plus. Will come back when in the area again!!!!!!

Service was terrible and very rude. It took us almost 3 hours to get our food and when we finally did the waitress had messed it up. The only cool thing is the music but its not worth all the hassel. Wont be back again.

This is the first review I've written and will most likely be my last for a while. I don't like complaining. I've worked as a server in a restaurant, and I know things can get crazy, but this restaurant was just awful. It took over a half hour for our server to even acknowledge our existence and that was after we had another server track her down. We promptly ordered our food and were told it would take about an hour, which was no big deal as the place was clearly very busy. About two hours later (not counting the half hour we waited for her to come to our table), my Grandma told the waitress that it had been a bit longer than we thought, to which she sarcastically replied, "Yeah, well I checked your ticket time and it hasn't even been an hour yet so, yeah, it hasn't been that long." Riiight. I think we can tell time, honey. So rude. We asked for a manager, who never even bothered coming to our table (assuming the server even told he/she they were wanted), which has never happened to any of us. Never coming back. Cool ambiance, but not worth it. Stay far, far away from this place.

Food was delish! Had the flounder tacos, sloppy joe sandwich and wings! Service was good and accommodating! We will return!

Nothing will ever replace Barnacle Bills! But we love this place. We eat here atleast 3 nights every time we are in Englewood on vacation. Great food great service and great prices!!!

Called ahead to see if they allowed cigar smoking. They said yes so we went. We again asked the hostess that seated us and she said no problem. About 45 mins latter a very rude manager shows up and tells us we have to put them out. I understand that a lot of places don't allow cigars , that is why I asked so many times to make sure it was allowed. I drove an hour just to get there , I would not have even went if I had known it wasn't allowed. Plus in the 45 minutes we were there we didn't even get our appetizers. I definitely won't be going there again , even in the summer when I'm sure they need us floridians.

Not the worst, not the best. Real nice venue. Went on a Monday night. Got seated (outside) right away. Live music was real good. Waiter wasn't real prompt but not an issue. Took drinks, appetizer and meal order same time (our choice). Drinks came first. Mine was a pretty watered down Manhattan. Waited for a bit and the appetizer came along with my wife's fish & chips. My order (fish tacos) wasn't there and had to ask the server to check on it. Turns out the order wasn't placed. The waiter took full responsibility and apologized big time - but that was all. Thought he should have offered a little compensation. The tacos eventually came quite a bit later. Quality of the food was ok. Appetizer was a mix - calamari, onion rings, shrimp and mozzarella sticks. Sticks were ok (you can screw them up but it takes effort). Shrimp was really excellent. Lightly breaded and fried right. Rings were small but ok. Calamari was overcooked and tough. Fish & chips was ok. Lots of fries and the breaded fish was good. Fish tacos were late but the blackened haddock was well prepared. Overall a mix of pluses and minuses. Don't think I'd go back unless I heard they had turned things around.

I enjoyed Flounders. There were some real highs, unfortunately, there were some real lows as well. First the highs: They had a Jerked Chicken and rice dish that was excellent. The Sloppy Burger was great as well and the Fried Cheesecake was to die for! The lows: Some of the serving sizes were very small. Our waitress forgot to bring 2 salads and a vegetable side (never got them). We barely saw the server. Finally saw her at the end of our meal, we told her about the missing items and she said "If you want them I'll go get them for you" Who wants a salad at the end of a meal? My biggest gripe was the tip was automatically added in because there were 6 of us. I've had this with a party of 10+ but 6? That's a little ridiculous.

Love this place. Always great to be in Florida. But places,Ike this make it so much better. The atmosphere in this place is so laid back and chill you can stay there for hours and not even notice. Awesome live music. And food. A good spot.

What can I say?....... Walked in and went all the way to the back of the restaurant with my Wife, no one said hello.....went near the front door, sat down, grabbed our own menus....waited near 20min....waitress who was waiting on a threesome about 4 tables over never looked our way. Finally asked us if anyone took out drink order...NO! Ordered Calamari and NE Clam Chowder....a beer and water.....got our food and wished we never did. Calamari was frozen and over fried, the clam chowder was nasty and almost inedible....zero flavor...Being at the beach at at place called Flounder's is disrespectful to any fish joint/shack anywhere! Don't do it, drive by and go to McDonald's. That's how bad it was. Greg

Tragically bad service, lousy food, and unbelievable wait times. Stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, ordered a couple drinks and some appetizers, two hamburgers and a salad. Waited waited waited.... Called waitress over to ask for an update, she said hamburgers normally take about half an hour (!!!!!!!!) - finally got our food, was mediocre at best (I know "Fresh Maine Lobster" for my salad is a joke, but they could try a little!!) - then waited and waited and waited for our check. Had to go find someone else to take it back, bc waitress never came back. Was told the manager would come by - never happened. Then the waitress brought us our change - a $78 dollar bill - as a $20 and some quarters. Now I could only wonder... Does she think she's getting a 25% tip, or that we'll wait some more for her to go figure out how to make change?????? We will never, ever return.

Food is so-so. They have a lot of Craft beers on tap witch is always a plus for beer aficionados. My family and I enjoy coming here for the atmosphere. The outdoor dining area has white, soft siesta key like sand and the comfortable patio furniture by the propane fire pits by the tiki bar are a beautiful touch. A night that I visited they had a band playing that did softer covers of many popular songs old and new and was very enjoyable. Hope to hear more of this there. My only wish is that they would add more vegetarian option to the menu. Will always return for the beautiful atmosphere.

I really enjoying going to this place for their outside seating overlooking the boats docking & living music playing outside. The drinks are tasty & the staff is really friendly, it's the hot spot to be on Manasota Key Beach. My favorites to order: mojito, lobster roll, broiled lobster,& fish tacos.... Enjoying everyone!

Although we were only there for drinks, their food looked very good. We sat in the patio area, which is very nicely decorated with multi gas fire pits and lounge seat.

Ate here for lunch and the food was really good. Would like to come back for dinner to see the bands they have.

Great location and tiki ambiance. Loved the outdoor game area for families. Food was good, but service was absurdly slow. Waitress said the kitchen is small and takes forever. She was right. Wasn't even crowded. I couldn't imagine it on a busy night. No amount of ambiance and games is worth the ridiculous wait.

  • Amy P.

I would suggest not to come here. My family and I had a horrible experience. For some reason we decide to eat inside rather than where everyone else seems to be which is the outdoor seating and bar area... Mistake number 1. Inside seating is a smallish area with a bar and there's only two other tables with people at them. We get a booth immediately and then start our wait. Our waiter, whom I won't name but let's call him John (not his name! Sorry if there's a John that works there!), was busy with a large group close to us and hadn't helped us yet. We keep waiting and eventually the bartender leaves the bar to come take our drink order and serves our drinks. That's fine. We wait and wait and wait and wait. By this point I'm visibly mad, arms crossed, mean scowl, and another waiter from outside notices and walks over to take our order and apologize. We haven't met John yet, he's focusing on the other two tables and then walking off. There seem to be a lot of employees not doing anything. The hostess and another waitress are folding silverware into napkins in the corner. The bartender looks bored. What looks like a shift leader is just sitting at the bar. Random waiters keep walking by. After an eternity of waiting we do actually receive food. BTW, John STILL hasn't come to our table. Just other employees took pity on us and did his job for him. The food was also disappointing. It was overpriced and unoriginal. I got the chicken tacos and they might have been the worst tacos I've ever had and I eat at Tijuana Flats. Just bland and overcooked, under seasoned. My mom got the fish tacos and she said the same thing. My dad got one of the specialty burgers and he really liked it so at least that was nice. FINALLY, John comes over and asks if we need anything and my dad says "ketchup". He returns to fill our water and didn't bring the ketchup. Really John? You had one job! 'John' did apologize profusely but it was too little too late. He even tried to up sell us dessert at the end. By the way, while we were silently suffering, another table of four was seated and soon gave John an earful because they received the same crappy service and they had the forethought to get up and leave before any of them had received a drink. Not sure how long they waited before they left but at least ten minutes with no drinks. Go anywhere else.

Very nice place. The band was very good and interacted with the crowd. Great drink selection. The food was good. I had the Ipswich clams and the girls had fish tacos. Plenty of food. My only issue was with our dozen oysters. They tasted good but were shucked incorrectly leaving pieces of shell on the oyster. Nice afternoon with my wife and 3 teenagers.

My husband, two young kids, and I waited 2 1/2 hours for our food. I had to seek out our waitress and the manager 3 times to see what was going on and they offered us nothing! After 2 hours of waiting they gave our kids a pack of saltines. They took nothing off our bill or gave us no discount to compensate us for our time. It was the first time in my entire life I gave NO tip. They have a major problem at this place with management and efficiency. It seemed chaotic and out of control. We loved manasota key but will never go to flounders again! Overpriced, poor service, and 2 1/2 hours wait for glorified fish sticks and French fries. No excuse for a dinner experience like that!

Big place. Indoor and outdoor. Sat outside in the covered patio. Live music but not too loud since it was outside. Had some of the best mahi tacos ever. Waitresses were very friendly, manager greeted me and asked about my meal. Overall a really great lunch. Fairly priced for the menu and quality of food.

We have visited this establishment 2 times and that will be the last time. Top 10 disorganized and non caring atmosphere I have experienced. I don't usually ever post reviews. But this place has such an take it or leave it attitude that I feel compelled to. If your snobby and like to be treat like you don't matter then this is the place for you. No common curtesy. No thank you or is everything ok. The place has expanded but has not expanded restroom facilities. They try to pack as many people 1-200 with 1 men's stall and 1 women's stall. Oh but they have portalets nice touch. Keep it classy flounders. Place needs a bar rescue!!

Awesome happy hour, great food & a super sweet bartender! Via Yelp I found Flounders and thought I'd give it a try because they offered Deep Fried Scallops. We were lucky enough to arrive during happy hour which was the best beer prices I've ever experienced. For dinner we ordered the Surf & Turf; fried scallops, steak, fries & a salad. Everything was so yummy. For dessert we had the deep fried coconut cheese cake, divine! The atmosphere was really fun and offered a lot of options. Highly recommend!

  • Brenna L.

Worst restaurant experience ever! We had a party of 10, so one might expect a little extra service? Wrong, how about almost no service. We had to flag down the waitress everytime we wanted to order anything. It took over an hour for our food, and it was cold (including the french fries, yuck.). Waitress let all the glasses and dishes just pile up, never clearing. When it came time to get our bill, we waited and waited. Finally asked the hostess to find our waitress. Then it took over 45 minutes to pay. We honestly felt we had been held hostage. Bad food, horrible service. The band was good -- if you have to go here, just go for drinks -- definitely not for dinner!

Live music. Band was lively. This seems to be the norm and not the exception. Good food. Ipswich clams were excellent!. Enjoyed ourselves. Service was meh. But the atmosphere was great.

We had drinks here several nights while on the key. Great service and fun times will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Unless you're a middle aged drunk I would not suggest this place. I've been here 3 times and it gets worse every time. Food is mediocre and seating is a mess. Placed by the porta potties multiple times. Former drunk employees sat at our table to have a smoke break after I came back from the restroom. The atmosphere is really loud. If you go go before the beach crowd gets there and the blue hairs.

  • ScotandNancy M.

Service was average. I started with a bowl of gumbo, which was like warm at best and was not worth the $7.50. I did choose something that wasn't on the menu, but I went with relatives that knew they had it... It was the fish sandwich. They gave me enough fish for 2 sandwiches, so I had a fish sandwich and ate the other fish filet with a bun. I opted for the Flonder sandwich... Since I was at Flounders and all. They have a spot for kids to play some games in the sand like cornhole and a couple others. The had a band which wasn't bad. I would come back again.

Fun place to eat on the beach in Englewood. There's a nice variety of seating, as you can sit in the A/C, on a covered patio or outside with the sand between your toes. The new couch seating area is a nice alternative to bar stools for that post-dinner drink. The food has always been great...fish and chips (tiki fries) was a winner for me. Love the atmosphere and outdoor games/activities for everyone.

Great place across from beach. The food is awesome and 2 great outside bars and they have music!! TVs at the bars too.

Adirondack chairs in the sand? -- check. Live music, mostly country? -- check. Cornhole? -- check. Crazy, Florida native with Jorts and an America flag short-sleeve button up with kids who are sitting on the hood of his Camaro? -- check. Fish tacos? -- check. Beers in the bottle, on draft and cider? -- check. What more could you want from an Englewood bar and grill?

One star for the nachos, 3 for the wings, and 5 for the ambiance. Here's the miserable nacho story, lol: My friend and I stopped in for an appetizer and a drink and to take in some live music. The menu read for the nachos, that they were $X, or you could add beef and beans or chicken for $X+Y. So we asked for the additional beef. After 30 minutes, and not being able to find our waitress, I asked another waitress to check on our order. She said to me, "didn't your waitress tell you that it would be a 45 minute wait?". NO !!!!!!! So when the nachos finally came, I could not find one scrap, oh, maybe one tiny molecule of beef, but tons of chili beans on them. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she said, "Well the cook owes me a favor." A FAVOR?!!? To get it right???. So she took them a way, came back with the beef on them, and said that the cook had shredded up a burger for us, then said, "the don't normally look like this. " WAHT? WHY NOT? Should't you get the beef if that's what you ask for from the menu and are paying for?!?? Urg. I'll stick with just beer, or maybe beer and wings. I'm scared to try anything else now after that fiasco.

Location was excellent..BUT ONLY THE LOCATION. We were there with family , We ordered fish sandwiches and hamburgers. We were there over and hour waiting for our food. I got upset and started to look for waitress .. When I found her she was sitting with her friends at a table.. She got nervous when we got the manager involved. The manager was no help - said they were busy. We waited another 15 mins.. And NO food. Everyone was so upset that they wanted to go somewhere else. I told the manager that I would like to pay for the drinks and we left. We went to another restaurant - were they gave us actual food.. If you want to go to bar to get drunk this is a good place.. Because even the waitress get drunk.. If you want to eat find a different place

We ate lunch here and it seems like a cute little sugar shack of a beach restaurant--it reminded me of a place you might find on the coast of maine. Sadly, we don't think that we would eat here again in the future as it seems pricey for low-quality pub food. The salad was not fresh - a hunk of iceberg lettuce with a few wilted cucumbers. The price of our meal was $90 for 3 people plus tip.

This is the first time I have actually eaten dinner at Floundered, we usually have apps and drinks outside. This time however, it was Fathers Day and we decided to eat inside. The service was terrible. The food was bland, overpriced , cold and so not worth what we paid for a party of 7. Our food did not come to the table at the same time hence we did not eat as a family. In fact, our waitress never checked back with us. I am still waiting for my cocktail sauce for my 3 slivers of flounder. The drinks sat at the bar for 10 minutes and were watered down. There is obviously no team work at Flounders or another waitress would have bought our drinks. Guess they never heard of the phrase there is No I in TEAMWORK. The manager never even cam by. We started our dinner adventure at 5:30 and it was 8:00 before we left. Our bill was a whole other issue, we asked for two separate checks, she was gone foe 10 minutes with our cc cards and then she rang them as cash. Not comfortable with that scenario and we will need to keep and eye on our cc statement. On a side note, just because it is off season, serve should not be subpar. We as locals should receive the same service as Snowbirds. If they can't take care of us, no one will want to go out off season and then who will pay your bills?

30 minutes no drink order--server MIA--informed hostess and catatonic server arrived--server then replaced due to emotional breakdown--re ordered and broken nosed replacement server gets 5 out of 6 orders wrong and takes 20 minutes to get 4 waters and 2 sprites. I now understand why they have 3+ security guards, their service could make Gandhi take up violence. This is not the laid back beach service that you vibe with over cocktails, more like drug addled cluster#\^! of epic proportions. We weren't the only folks with incredulous looks on our faces. The band was top notch, we got to hear two whole sets thanks to the calliope of service errors. If you decide to eat here, bring rations.

I used to love going to Flounders. The live music and outside bar/dining area are a plus but the service is absolutely terrible. We went for breakfast and sat outside. Our waitress brought us menus but neglected to take our drink order....after 10 minutes of not seeing her again we left. That was not the first time it happened but will certainly be the last.

  • Patricia H.

This place is an attitude and if you are laid back beach people this is for you. I have had the oysters and shrimp and it was good and the cocktail sauce actually has a kick! We love it. Had margaritas last night with Patron. Not very good. Stick with the Corona and you will be fine. Live music is great, outside beach feel, can hear the ocean from your table. We will see you there!

  • Joseph C.

A fun place to visit however a few pathetic 20 somethings thought it would be cool to throw mustard and catsup on the boats that were docked there. The staff would have seen this happening, but chose to allow it. Very disappointing. Could be a great place without the kids!

  • Debra H.

Went there to listen to Vince Brown and have some cocktails and lunch. We were having a great time when the manager said Vince was too loud and td him to leave. Vince was not too loud, it was 2:00 in the afternoon !! Really?? The manager was rude and very unprofessional, I will never go there again.

Heard really great reviews about this place, so we were really excited to go. We decided to go on a Sunday night around 7ish. The place is a little confusing, but we ended up sitting on the patio off the main dining area fairly quickly. After about 25 minutes- and after getting our own drinks at the inside bar- a waitress walked by and noticed we hadn't been helped and said she'd grab our actual waitress. She went over to a woman who was sitting at a nearby table talking to other guests the entire time we'd been waiting. She runs over and without apologizing for the wait, asks us if we're ready to order. As we begin, she informs us that the current wait for food is 1 1/2 hours. Why? Because they "have a party of 13 and a party of 12 that's really backing up the kitchen. It's a really small kitchen." Maybe I'm wrong, but that seems pretty normal for a restaurant in this area. We didn't necessarily mind waiting that long because it was a fun atmosphere and we had nice drinks, but she was really giving off the vibe that she didn't want us to stay. Needless to say, we grabbed our drinks and headed down the street to Lock N Key- which had great service and awesome food!

Sweet beachside restaurant and tiki bars. Some of the BEST bar and seafood grub around. Actually grub is a disservice. Excellent food, smiley happy service all round. And a nice place to be eat & drink beside the beach

For starters for the first time in the Florida Keys with the wedding party 50 plus people we decided to go to flounders for dinner and drinks because we enjoyed the live music that was provided when I ordered my food fish taco at 9:17 at 9:45 i asked where my order was and if it was on its way and no sooner than I turn my head the manager was screaming in my face saying if you do not like this this is not a McDonalds you can go to some other place I probably told him we're giving you hundreds of dollars of business and I cancel my order I will never return to this place the level of service is very unprofessional and as a manager I expected more at least an introduction to his name which was never given my first time is the keys staying at a very popular local beach locations the manager had suggested flounders because her two sons work there I was looking forward to enjoying some great food but was given a rude and very very subjective service I highly UNrecommend this place to anyone that's new or anyone that has been here before. Gulf view is best.

  • R J.

Not sure what to say- service was horrible. So many employees floating around yet no one came to our table for a good 15 minutes. Food was mediocre, menu selection was really lame- fried fish, how original! Most guests were totally drunk and some hula chick was "dancing" to really bad live music. Atmosphere was definitely "Southern Redneck" - yikes. It's a shame because the location is pretty good- guess they just don't have to try so they don't. I won't be going back.

  • Holly S.

I had the grilled fish tacos (mahi mahi) and i=they were really fresh and really tasty. The waitress went out of her way to make sure we had everything. We sat inside because outside it was just too hot however there were a lot of people outside listening to the live music. You can also sit and eat at the bar (inside or out).

My friend and I visited flounders on a mini stay cation to englewood. The atmosphere - the place is super cute with both inside and outside seating. There is ring toss and corn hole as well as a live band. There is boat access/docks and the gulf is across the stress. Parking, is limited. It's very casual, with lots of locals. We were seated quickly outside under the shade and addressed promptly. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food- the menu is very limited. We were worried but boy were we in for a surprise! The crab cakes we very good but lacked flavor- however they were decent size and a lot of crab meat for 11.99. My friend ordered the onion ring basket for 5.99 and they were huge! They tasted divine! For main course we both got burgers for about 8 bucks. Let me tell you- these were the best burgers I've ever had! They were delicious! The fries were nothing to write home about but the burgers cannot be raved about enough! If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely come in for another burger, you should too!

Food was good but it seems like the people working there struggle to pay attention to anything. 2 of the 3 orders we placed were wrong. I sent mine back for it to be blackened and all they did was through some spices on it and send it back. I would give the place a lot higher rating if service was better.

I have been coming to town on vacation here for a few years, and have been more or less pleased with the service at Flounders until tonight. We came down to have drinks and spectate the event going on, specifically they were hosting a night of "Drag Queen Bingo". As we arrived ,which was 45 minutes before the show, we were told they were full up in the restaurant and sold out for the show in their outside area. This wouldn't be a problem except we had inquired beforehand about whether or not we "had" to buy tickets to be there for the event, if we were not playing, and were assured that we only needed a ticket to play not to spectate the show. The tickets were more than reasonable,$5 per, and we would have been glad to buy them had it even been suggested to be a prudent course of action. We left, our attitude soured to the business and will not be returning as customers in the future.

Another seaside favorite in the englewood area. Pretty good food, live music. Just off of the beach. Fan of the lobster roll.

Stopped there for a couple of drinks last night. My beer was delivered in a plastic beer cup but my wife's $8 special cocktail was also delivered in a beer cup. Seriously? Not even a fancy umbrella?

A quick walk from the beach. They have inside and outdoor dining and often have live music. Their clam chowder is very good. blackened fish taco has a whole piece of fish ( not just a few chunks) with a tasty mango salsa on the side. Make sure you leave room for the coconut encrusted cheesecake with pineapple / mango topping!!!!! This is one of our favorite local eateries in Englewood.

Typical beach bar food. Good but not special. Boat access is great. Atmosphere in the bar was fun and welcoming. I'll be back by boat, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drive here by car.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service. The chicken wings are to die for. You can also go to the indoor bar and spin the wheel for a free drink or get one at a 50% discount.

Nice restaurant, food was good for patio casual restuarant. Had two margaritas which had very little tequilla booze, Tried to watch bartender pour Cuevo, but she poured liquor under bar, out of my sight. Outside music was good. Try other outside bars on street, with better reputations. Felt like I was in a tourist trap. Waitress was very helpful and friendly though

My girlfriend and I had the great pleasure of spending January at Englewood Beach Villas, across the street from Flounders. We had heard about it even before we left New York. We stopped in one night and became regulars. Besides great burgers, and seafood of various sorts, we enjoyed gator cakes as an appetizer on Zydeco night. Also excellent Key Lime Pie. You can dine indoors, on the porch or on tables in the sand. They have live entertainment every night with a great variety of bands you can hear sitting around the fire pit. The red tide blew in while we were there and they featured a Red Tide Chaser consisting of a variety of rums and juices. If it didn't chase away the red tide, at least you would stop caring about it. Did I mention the view of sunset over the Gulf of Mexico and Englewood Beach? Of the four restaurants on Beach Road, this was our favorite, although you really should try the others as well if you have time. Have a Guinness for me.

A new favorite! My grandmother and I stopped in for lunch after hearing great reviews. We sat on the enclosed patio which had a tiki bar feel to it. The furniture is kinda shabby chic but the place seemed very clean and well organized for a beach bar. Our server recommended 3 items when asked...the fish tacos, lobster roll and buffalo shrimp. We both got the lobster roll they came with seasoned french fries. We are picky about our lobster being from New England but we agreed this was the best we have had in the south. The fries were also quite good...we liked the seasoning...maybe cajun or something close? Service was also very good. We will be taking the whole family back for sure but I think we may stick to the lunch or early dinner hours...it seems as though they have the potential to be crowded and noisy later in the evening with live music and a younger crowd.

Beachy, casual, fun atmosphere! Very good and fresh seafood dishes. Tried the crab cakes, lobster rolls, and fish tacos - all were delicious!

We ate here the evening of 03/26/12 with a group of 8 people. We were seated very promptly at an outdoor table next to the band stand. The band was loud at times but we could still carry on conversations. The menu wasn't to expansive but each of the adults ended up with different dinners and all were satisfied. I had the Tiki Burger and it was delicious and looked awesome upon presentation open faced. A tortilla was also on the plate to collect all the extra toppings for eating later. The beer selection was not that great but they did have Key West Sunset Ale on tap so that was my beverage of choice. The place is located right across the street from the beach and the Gulf of Mexico and made for a nice spot to eat and watch the sun go down. I would recommend you checking it out if you happen to be in Englewood Florida

We came to this place hungry and thirsty. The draft beer was warm and the soup of the day "ham and bean" was tasteless and luke warm. The waitress was nice but didn't come around much and didn't let us know that she took the soup off the bill until we mentioned it. The calamari was tasty but swam in a lake of grease. The only reason we gave any stars at all was due to the live music and atmosphere. We sat outside and the place is relaxed and fun.

Stopped for a late lunch. Great location with good indoor and outdoor seating options. Food was decent but service was ridiculously slow. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but 40 minutes to get our meals plus more than an additional 15 minutes to bring us key lime pie. No apologies or acknowledgement of delay from the server.

I was recently in vacation in punta gorda and stumbled upon this place with my boyfriend. Needless to say of our 2 weeks vacation there we went 3 times! I loved the oysters so fresh and yummy, the burger was to die for. Their fries were freshly made, the spices used not overpowering but a complement to the burger. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their fish tacos the best i tried in whole punta gorda. We went out a lot and tried lots of food but nothing compered to it. The staff is friendly, but not to the point where they are hovering over you. They have live music which makes the ambiance cozy. They have games to play( our favorite was JENGA! we loved the fact that they were 2 by4's) and a fire pit which we both loved!

Decent food, great service, cheap drinks! It's across the street from the beach - you don't actually have a beach view but there is a part of the bar that is on the bay. I had a lobster roll and they certainly didn't scrimp on the lobster. My husband had a grilled flounder sandwich that was huge and delicious!

The longer this place is open, the better it gets. It's become a great place to be by boat or by car. The outdoor dining area is expanding and getting better all the time. The burgers are consistent and pretty good. Specialty wine dinners have been a big hit lately.

The Tiki Burger is the best burger I've ever had, I liked it so much I went back two more times this week and ordered it again. I thought The last thing I would order this week was a burger but these guys really have this one down to a fine science.

Short Version: Food was decent, expectations were low. Service was not good. Two hour meal. Cocktail "special" was a jalapeno margarita that was too sweet and had no booze. Longer version: This place is terribly managed. Servers, waitstaff and hostess were all tripping over each other. Our waiter (I believe his name was....Ben?) kept bitching out the hostess for seating guests in his section. At one point she disappeared for a while and a family of four was seated next to us by some dude hanging out outside and Ben went up to them and said "Who told you you can sit here?", then found the hostess and bitched her out in front of them. Yikes. When he came to take our order after we sat for half an hour, he came up and said "Ok...let's get this over with before things get really out of control". What? I haven't been to Lock and Key down the street, but if I'm ever in that area again I'll go there first.

This place is awesome!! Great atmosphere and super fun. I love that they have live music, pretty rare in this day and age. The food was fantastic, especially the burger. They put a tortilla under the burger so when some of the toppings fall out, you have a second meal waiting for you. Very unique place that is good for all types of people!

Food was great. Live music was good. Has plenty of outdoor seating and is located on the fishing harbor, though it's a short walk across the street to Englewood Beach, for sunset views. There's allso a tiki style drinks area. Heard some mixed reviews about the speed of the service. Ours was fine, so hopefully it's just related to newness.

Great location and live music, and half-price happy hour. BUT ... Service is very spotty, at best. Although you can walk from the beach into the bar, and there's an outdoor tiki bar, you can't seem to get served unless you walk all the way around to the front and "check in" with the "hostess", who is often non-existent. We once sat 15 minutes and were not approached by anyone. Just today we waited a good 7 minutes while the owner(?) chatted with the bartender before he finally came over and greeted us. Great concept, great location , but service has to improve. As for food, they have a very good spinach/artichoke appetizer, but our burger was served on a cold bun. I hope this is just growing pains, because Englewood Beach needed another restaurant/bar.

Great location. Nice concept. Service the three times I have been there is horrible. Even though seated by hostess, twenty minutes to get waited on, 15 for drink. Forty-five for food. if the food were good maybe I wouldn't care

I live in New York, a food capital of the world, and I was blown away by the food and atmosphere at this restaurant. You could say I am a snob when it comes to fries, but Flounders has incredible fries that you can get regular or spicy, which is so original. The fries aren't the only specialty this restaurant has. Their seafood is exceptionally fresh and they give you large portions, and the prices are unbeatable. The burgers are also amazing, specially with the tortilla underneath so you can savor each bite! They give you so many options on how you want your meal; their menu is so innovative! They also have baked brie which I was surprised by( I rarely see it on a menu), but it was amazing! I can't say enough good things about the food. I ate there almost every night when I was there for a weekend this spring. The atmosphere is what puts this place over the top. They always had live music and great drink specials. Plus its right on the beach, and they offer outdoor dinning and activities. The managers were friendly and came around to make sure everything was acceptable and the servers were outstanding and always happy to see us come back. i couldn't get enough of this restaurant!
