We went here for breakfast not realizing the sign says, American breakfast Mexican Dinner! So I look forward to going back to see a full Mexican menu! We did locate two dishes for breakfast that fit more of what we wanted, Mexican! The huevos rancheros were quite tasty. Two eggs on top of a tostada with rice & beans & tortillas. The flavor was good! The Goulash was great with diced potatoes in it! What would have made it better, to top the dish with two sunny side up eggs to drip into the dish! We'll as for that next time. The picture is the large portion. Only negative thing is no one closes the doors well so it allows flies in. Maybe today was unusual? Anyhow the food was good, cooked right where you can see it & I will be returning!

Average Mexican fare in a facility that could use a serious cleaning. Quick service and reasonable priced. Don't know if I would stop in again.

This is my favorite restaurant. The food is awesome. The staff are always so friendly. A nice touch to the atmosphere is watching some of the Hispanic television shows or the exciting soccer games (I'm a huge fan of soccer). It's true that, while anyone can have a bad day once in a while, they truly earned those 4 stars!

Great place we ate there very late a little after ten one night and still had amazing food and great service. We will be going back next trip to St. George Island. If you like tamales be sure to get them it was all I could think about for days after eating them super duper good one of the best I've ever had honestly.

Can't beat this Mexican former Huddle House near the coast. The spinach dip and Mexi-dip are outstanding! Great food all around. Best cheese enchilada ever.

Solid, safe Mexican-style restaurant, in an area with somewhat limited dining choices. Had dinner here with 5 friends, and everyone enjoyed the meal. Portion sizes were good, and they kept the drinks filled. I had a combo dinner (taco, enchilada, chile relleno, rice, beans) and a drink, and got out for under $15, tip included. Other reviewers have noted an American-style breakfast -- wasn't aware of that option, but it's good to know for my next vist to the area.

Great service and authentic Mexican food. Nothing spectacular here just the basics which is more than adequate. Building looks like it was once an old burger joint which makes for some close seating arrangements.

My wife and I have eaten at El Jalisco every year on vacation since finding it in the Apalachicola area several years back. They moved a few years back from their downtown Apalachicola location to a new "diner" location on Highway 98, just east of the bridge to Apalachicola. They took over the old Sportsman's Lodge diner location. In fact, despite it being years later, many of the original news-clippings, advertisements and various original wall hangings from the Sportsman still hang in the diner. The style of food and the restaurant can best be summed up as working class. Many of the local fisherman and crabbers start their day here with high-calorie, low cost food. I wouldn't suggest coming here expecting anything other than good food, prompt service and a no-frills but substantial breakfast. While the menu is decidedly mexican inspired, they do have traditional southern american breakfast on the menu as well, including biscuits & gravy and a local favorite breakfast hash. My personal favorite is their Huevos Rancheros. It's quickly become the bar against which I judge other establishment's version of this delicious traditional texmex breakfast.

Maybe it was an off day but when we went for lunch, service was slow, most of the food was just okay but the guacamole was awful and one of our entrees was unedible.

If you are in the area and love mexican food, you have to stop here. It is probably the best tex-mex I have ever eaten - and I have eaten a lot of it over the years...

It's mexican (Tex-Mex) and it's close. No socks blown off, no life changing experiences, but the food was edible and I liked the Queso-Chorizo dip. The salsa was good too.

We had breakfast here on our recent vacation and I got the Huevos Rancheros. It was really good. Beans and rice were nicely flavored. The eggs were served on a crunchy tostada and covered with a nice orange sauce. My son got sausage and eggs and the sausage was pretty tasty. My husband got a sausage, egg, and cheese burrito that he enjoyed. Coffee was good. We were here for 4 days and finally found this place on the last day. Wish we would have know about it from the start as there are limited choices in this town, and none very good for breakfast.

Worth a trip for hungry folks. A BIG menu: American breakfast (comes with salsa if you ask) and other well prepared familiar diner items. It is the Mexican food that shines.(Not Tex-Mex!) Mexico is a big country with very long coast lines and many states. The Menu reflects all that diversity. Recently I had a wonderful shrimp quesidilla with the best tortillas I've eaten anywhere. These guys know food and everything we have ever eaten there has been excellent. There is beer and wine and we were offered a margarita made with tequila so I'm assuming a full bar but not sure. Lots of choices under $10 and most under $15.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
