Great, friendly, clean place. Family owned Mexican fare, with that Qdoba feel, but much tastier. You can carry out or dine in. Meats all have great flavor an portions are comparable to the price.

Was really decent and cheap - until.... I was in line, and saw a roach, crawl across the food, into the queso, and out the other side. My stomach turned and I've not been back. For every roach you see, how many more are there you don't? Take your chances...

The best burritos ever. I usually order the pork burrito or the chicken burrito. I like the fact that they have a lot of fillings to choose from. You also get to choose from Flour tortillas, whole wheat tortillas, and corn tortillas. The only thing I do not like is that they charge extra for guacamole, corn, and sautéed onions if you want them in your burrito. The people who work there are very nice and greet me all the time. I prefer this place over moe's and chipotle. If you want a good burrito then try this place out.

Just tried for the first time. Had a burrito. It was great. 5 stars. I will be back to eat more burritos.

I come here from time to time and ALWAYS have great service! I find it's like Moe's, only better! The Guacamole is very creamy and tasty! Today was loaded Nachos, but don't be shy, they do everything well!

Great food, could have cheaper beer prices. always quick service and pleasant neighborhood feel.

This place is great. When I venture out for Mexican food in Dunedin, I go here. There are a couple of other Mexican food restaurants locally, but the food doesn't compare to Juan's.

As several others have said, like Moe's but so much better. I had three tacos, two pork and one beef, with the the toppings I wanted, for less than $6!! Very yummy and the hot sauces are great. Been here twice and was not disappointed either time. They also serve beer.

I've been here many many times. Lol can't go wrong. Spicy beef burritos. Mmm yum. They're quick and delicious.

By Florida standards, this is pretty good Mexican street-vendor type food. Being from California, I am kind of a Mexican food snob. This would be a 2 star place anywhere in California, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Nevada. But for Florida, I'm happy to find it. The carnitas was pretty tasty. They were out of steak but the beef taco was good too. The salsas were kind of nondescript but passable. The selection is slim and very basic. The price was excellent. The atmosphere is fast-foodesque. I will go again unless I find better Mexican in this general area...any suggestions?

Juan's has the best Burritos I've had in the area. Far better than Chipotle Grill, which I liked but abandoned them when I was told about Juan's right down the street. Great service, very nice and accommodating staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone. You will definitely be satisfied. I have been there several times. It's a small local place but you can't beat it.

Within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant I felt a strong urge to stick my finger down my throat. The tortilla chips tasted toxic and burnt, the queso cheese tasted like melted cardboard, the burrito ingredients were bland and a waste of my palette's precious resources . Save your money and avoid this place at all cost. Oh, and inside the back kitchen, and sitting on the counter unattended and God knows at what temperature was a big pile of chicken breasts. Wonder what the health inspector would have to say about that.

NO NO NO NO!!! This is not mexican food, this is something any cook even new ones could make at home with a taco packet of seasoning. But they could do it better, because they would actually cook the rice. If you want my money, then stop using box or canned food, frozen over cooked chicken that I suspect was seasoned in the bag it arrived in. The rice was under cooked and crunchy out of the box add water, its not hard people. Salsa??? no that was a pickled mess of tomatoes and seasoning again that was done at a plant. I could have recreated my whole taco experience here at home and it would have tasted better. Bag O Chips, Caned salsa, and frozen food. Disgusting. I will never make this mistake twice.

I was very surprised by this place. Had some really great soft tacos, with very good meat and very fresh veggies. Yum! And the prices are great. The 3 taco special is $5...can't beat it as a deal!

Had to be in the area for work and stopped by at this place, because there wasn't much time for lunch and it was right down the road from where I was. My two coworkers joined me. We were there around 1pm and had to wait in a short line to get our order in. Didn't have to wait at all after we ordered as they are preparing food right in front of you. 3 people moved quick and were efficient. I had a loaded chicken burrito and my colleagues had quesadilla and a taco salad. Burrito seemed smaller than at other places and wasn't toasted, but it came out very filling and yummy. I heard good feedback about the other two meals as well. One thing I didn't like, was the tortilla chips that came with my burrito. They tasted wheat, but I like corn better. Don't think, they had those... My colleague made a comment about staff not being friendly, but I guess, I was too hungry to notice.

I've driven by a million times but for some reason never stopped in. I could eat Mexican food every day of my life so I don't know why I never went in. I finally tried it out for dinner tonight and I'm so glad I did! First of all the decor is really warm and inviting and it felt clean and new inside. I would compare to a chipotle style where you order at the counter but there's plenty of booth and table seating. I ordered the value meal which was 2 tacos, chips and salsa and a drink for $5. The pork tacos had an excellent flavor, the toppings were fresh and the pico de gallo had an amazing cilantro taste. Also got guac on the side, good choice! The food was tasty, service was quick, environment was great, prices were low. Ill definitely be back!

Cockroaches! And a hassle to get a refund after discovering that they have cockroaches! I gave them a great review years ago but I won't be back ever again.

Visit time/day: weekday lunch Atmosphere: casual, clean Juan's is the family-owned version of a Chipotle, Moe's, Qdoba - the 'pick your options' quick service Mex restaurant. Ordered a chicken burrito lunch (came with chips). The chicken was white meat, not boogery, and seasoned okay. Other than that, it was acceptable but nothing I will dream about. Guacamole tasted like mass produced not home made. Pico de Gallo was acceptable but nothing amazing - may have been mass produced as well. Wish they would give you more salsa with chips. Love that they have chopped cilantro as an option. Not on my list of revisits but I won't throw a hissy if I'm forced to go there again. I would expect better from a family owned restaurant that is trying to compete with the mega chains (Moe's is my fav mega chain in this QSR category).

Stopped by Juan's about 8pm. No one else in the restaurant so not sure what to make of that. Decided on the steak and pork tacos, loaded with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo. The food was not particularly authentic, unless you're a fan of Tex-Mex (which I am not), but the flavors were good, and and nothing in a bad way. With so many good/authentic Mexican taquerias to eat at in the Drew Street corridor (see my list of most authentic Mexican restaurants below) not that far away, I would find it hard to return. But if you're close and must have your fix of Mexican, then this place will do you right. Atmosphere: 3 Service: 3 Food: 3 Value: 3

Like Moe's but locally owned. The super nachos are great fresh (getting them take out, the chips get soggy by the time I get home). This is my favorite burrito place.

Okay maybe it was an off day but I will not be going back. 1. My fish taco was leaking some clear fluid that seemed like oil. I picked it up to drain the oil and it was cool to the touch and tasted dreadful. 2. My waitress dropped the lime for my Corona, then put it INSIDE the beer and laughed. I think she was high. Also she came and hit on my girlfriend. Not saying I am not into that, but eww, not with this waitress. 3. The food is cheap-ish, but come on, if I wanted food this crappy, Taco bell is cheaper and faster. My girlfriend threw her burrito away cause it sucked. How do you fail at beans and rice? We assumed that at Juan's Mexican Grill, the grill must be the Mexican part, because neither the food nor the atmosphere was.

so so. out of 3 people, I was the happiest one and I wasn't excited about the food. It was edible caloric intake. all of the burrito chain restaurants are better as are the places I frequent up north... when I'm this far south, i expect the mexican food to be superior, ya know, because canadians aren't making it.

For a "build it yourself" kind of burrito place, this place rocks. They must have expanded and/or remodeled since some of the people wrote reviews because there is a dining room with tables. It's very clean and tidy, and reminds me of the burrito places in college. I didn't find it sketchy, run-down, or dirty at all. It's not the Taj Mahal, but it's just fine. They offer burritos, tacos, and quesadillas, and also anything can be gotten "bowl style". I got the loaded veggie burrito, which was packed with rice, black beans, sauteed onions and peppers, and any of the fixings. There is a ton to choose from and you can add whatever you want including sour cream and guac. The burrito itself was very tasty, and not over-salted, like at some other places. It was probably just a tad bit smaller than Chipotle burrito, but still plenty enough for one person. The green salsa added a nice kick to the burrito. The chips were warm and crispy, and really good. I had a side of the green salsa with the chips too. The service was very quick. The two workers (owners, maybe?) were not unfriendly, but I wouldn't say they were cheerful either. Nothing bad happened, but they seemed to be in kind of a pissy mood. I don't need a smile and a hug, but I also don't want to get a vibe like I am intruding on their space either. Anyway, it's not the absolute best burrito place I've been to, but it's pretty darn good. Cheap, too!

We stop in every time we go to Florida. Very good, quick, and inexpensive.

No offense to anyone who likes this place but I didn't care for it. I had a chicken burrito and chips w/ salsa. The portions are large for the money but the food was bland. I've had better at Chipotle and I'm not a fan of that place either. I will say that the service was very prompt and friendly so no complaints on that end.

  • Tina N.

I love this place because their food is delicious and doesn't taste like other Mexican joints I've been. I can taste all the flavors and freshness. I always order the softens hard tacos in steak or chicken. Definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for some Mexican food. The only thing that gets me is that the tacos are on the smaller size for their price. I'm a small girl but I could probably eat 5 of those tacos. Still pretty damn good though.

It's a Moe's ripoff. Rice was crunchy and dry from sitting there all day. Meat is greasy and old. If you like Moe's then fine, but it's not elevated past that quality.

We go to Juan's about once a week. The atmosphere is not great and there is no table service, but the food is great. I always get beef tacos but my wife says the chicken tacos are good too. I also try to practice my Spanish with the people behind the counter. You can sign up for their frequent diner program and get a break on your order once you reach a certain spending level. Also, if you give them your email address, they send you coupons for free or discounted food.

Worst Mexican food I've ever had. Hands down, and I've lived in Hawaii, where there is no good / authentic Mexican food. Seriously! I would give it zero stars but yelp won't let me :( If you do not have as discerning taste as I and don't mind food without much flavor, this is the place for you. Fish tacos taste like they were cooked in margarine....ick! I mean really. The burritos are big, but they are big and filled with lackluster flavors. Subway style setup. Inexpensive and it tastes like it. Service was ok, lacked cleanliness and tact, but not the worst I've ever had. Being harsh, but I love me some Mexican and this was just a waste of a good palette--mine in particular. Honestly, the physical "grill" must have been the only thing that is "Mexican" about Juan's, cus it damn sure wasn't the food.

From the outside this place looks like many other Mexican restaurants you might see around. But it is very different. Its a lot like q chipotle in the way you order your food and watch them make it. The people here are very nice and the food is good quality and tastes great. I have gone twice now in the last two days bc it is that good. It's very nice inside this place and very clean. If your on the fence about stopping into this place just do it. You won't be disappointed. I recommend the pork. It's great.

The restaurant is very clean, smells good and fast. The inside is recently remodeled and is very trendy. You walk up to the grill, just like subway and request ingredients. It is very simple and fast. Ingredients are always top quality and fresh and tastes awesome. I always order beef, steak or chicken burritos usually. I don't order fish in a Mexican burrito place so I don't have and review for that. The iced tea is always fresh. Good for taking the family and eating in.

Its good when you are looking for a fast meal. I love mexican & this place has a veggie option for everything. There are a few places a little better but I still stop in once & a while to grab a burrito.

Bypass the usual fast food places and opt for this place. Better for you in the long run. Quick in and out for lunch is a good thing. Here they assemble the food right in front of you and you tell them how you want it. They have a variety of delicious topping to add to each selection. They offer huge portions and lunch special prices.

Easy to drive right by this place, but it is worth a stop. I eat there at least twice a week. Food always seems fresh. They don't have a too big a menu which is good. Way better than Mo's, Chipotle or Tijuana flats. Local place with local feel and great food.

This place looked dumpy from the outside and was hesitant to enter. I went on with my buddy and decided to order a lunch special 2 tacos with chips and salsa and a soda. Good price and surprising good. I will definitely frequent this place again.

It was difficult to pass by Juan's while working in Dunedin and not stop in every time. If you want a Burrito that doesnt F around then this i where you need to go. You come in hungry and sad, u leave full and happy. That's why the burrito was created, for that very purpose. And Juan's is top notch in making that happen.

Fresh and tasty are the first words that come to mind. I've been there half a dozen times thus far and have not been disappointed. Their giant Burrito w pork is a meal by itself. They need a Southern lesson in "sweet tea" but aside from that, all is great.

Quite tasty and cheap burritos and taco salads. Salsa had a smokey flavor. I will for sure be going back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
