I can't give higher praise for a great meal- Not sure where to start. Hostess was friendly, server was experienced and very polite. Our dinner was perfect. I asked if the chef owned the restaurant, (he does) the food reflects the love and passion only a driven owner/chef can deliver. I don't get to the east coast often, so this was a really special treat for us. Now if they got a full bar here- a Bloody Mary with my little neck clams would have been epic. With that said, they do have a solid wine and beer menu. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside its a quaint little place with treasure to be had. For apps we had a goat cheese salad and the baked oysters both very yummy with texture and richness one would expect. Our entrees, both specials, were Ahi and grouper. The grouper grilled to perfection and the mahi while a little cold was topped with pickled onions and peppers in a wasabi hollandaise sauce, I cleaned my plate. A few things of note... The butter with the bread came out hard and was non spreadable. The lemonade was clearly some sort of coke or Pepsi product. The service was great but not very personable. Overall this little place is a gem in a sea of overpriced places trying too hard. Come here if you are relaxed and want to eat without wanting to be "seen". Great first or 50th date material.

We stopped in here for a few appetizers around 945. We thought on a busy weekend night that closing would be around 11. When the waitress came to take our order she seemed annoyed that we weren't ordering full meals even though everyone ordered an appetizer and drink. Our server then vanished for the duration of our meal and when she returned I discovered that a 20% gratuity had been added to our bill without any mention of this appearing anywhere on the bill. And since we were a group of 6 we hardly expected an automatic gratuity to be added. And although the restaurant mentioned that they accepted all credit cards, I was informed I couldn't pay with my Amex card. I have to assume that any restaurant that is this dishonest regarding payment and gratuity is undoubtedly consistent in other aspects of their establishment. There are much better options available so vote with your wallet.

Delicious, Delicioso, Délicieux, Delizioso! Seriously, J&J has some amazing fish dishes and the sauces and sides are superb! I was meeting my college roommate on Atlantic this past week for our bi-monthly get together. After looking at 3 different seafood restaurants on the Ave we decided on J&J. I got there a splash before 7 pm and quickly learned there was only 1 table to be had and it was outside, table ahoy!, so I grabbed it. I would highly suggest you make a reservation here as it's not a huge restaurant and it was stuffed to the gills, pardon the pun, with people on a Thursday night. We both ordered a 1/2 bottle of wine (drowning my sorrows), me red- her white, and set off pursuing the specials, which were numerous. Swordfish with an Étouffée sauce and speared local Hogfish Snapper served whole were among the day's specials. We decided to share the crab stuffed oysters, which our waitress kindly informed us takes 20 minutes in preparation time. Since, we weren't in a rush we were happy to wait. Back to the menu, I really had a hankering for a piece of fish and was really torn between the Grouper, Shrimp and Scallops, and Snapper... I ultimately decided on the Grouper b/c of the Sriracha mashed potatoes. My college roommate decided on the coffee crusted Salmon. We sat and chatted for about 20 mins and another couple got a table outside by us, they were immediately greeted, orders taken, and offered bread. BREAD? Yes please, how comes we weren't offered bread??!?!?!?! Nothing goes better with wine and no food but bread and butter, in my opinion. Both of our ears perked up and we whipped our heads around to ask the lady if we too could partake in bread and butter too! My friend literally turned to me and said "it's not like we aren't spending good money here either?". So party foul on bread, perhaps we were the fish out of water here? Bread arrived and about 5 mins later appetizer arrived, it was just OK for me, it was the one dish I would not order again, but my friend liked it just fine. Meanwhile, table that sat after us had their meals already....by the time we got our meals that table had actually finished eating (PS there was nothing left on their plates either-see my pix). Food finally arrived and thankfully my fish was divine. The sauce that was on top of it reminded me of a liquified key lime pie, it was sweet and bitter with hints of lime all at the same time. The fish itself was thick and meaty almost like chicken, but extremely flaky and not a hint of fish taste at all. The grill marks on the fish and the scallop were characteristic of a master griller. The 2 asparagus spears that it was served with were cooked to perfection, cut easily with a knife and fork, were not dried out and not stringy- perfect. I don't like Salmon, sadly, so I didn't try my friend's fish, but it was a large piece and she took 1/4 of it home to her husband, but said she loved it. We were too stuffed for dessert. Pricing: They do have a couple wraps, burgers, and salads on their menu that are in the $12-$16 range, but the vast majority of the fish dishes range from $24-$34 per as far as I could see. Our bill was $139 for the 2 of us so it can be on the more expensive side, but well worth it. So after this rave review why 4 stars and not 5 you may ask? The service, our oyster appetizer, and parking (it's hard to find over here) lost the 5 star rating for me. Will I go back? YES definitely. THE END

I will be back! Place was extremely busy on Friday night, highly recommend making a reservation. Mussel appetizer was perfect, prepared and served in a mouth watering sauce. Blackened grouper and shrimp was amazing. I could have left this world happy after eating that dish!

When you find a place where the owner is the chef and does all the cooking, you're in for really good meal and J & J Seafood Bar and Grill proves it as John Hutchinson is both the full time chef and owner. I had planned on going to another restaurant, but it was closed, so using my handy Yelp app stumbled upon J & J which to me is a really great find. The restaurant is small but cozy with a real cutesy like décor and feel about it. Their menu is extensive as is their wine list and daily specials. For the special appetizer I had my choice of mussel done white in wine or red in marinara. I choose the wine, which was served in bowl heaping with delicious tasty, and you could tell fresh, mussels with plenty of wine/garlic based broth and bread. For my entrée it was really difficult to decide since everything on the menu looked so good, but since the swordfish steak was one of the special entrees of the day, I went for it. It came grilled, served on top of a very tasty near salsa like but chunky mango and green salad bed. The fish was fresh, distinctive with its grilled flavor, and the portion much larger than expected. Indeed, there was no skimping on the number of mussels, the size of my swordfish steak or the pour of my wine. On another nice note, my waiter couldn't have been better, more polite or helpful with my selections and at the end of the meal, Chef John stepped out of the kitchen, being kind enough to introduce himself. Oh, and not to forget, they have a Yelp Loves Us sticker on their window!

I am a big fan of fresh seafood. I live in upper New York and I've always craved for good seafood. This restaurant was the highest rated seafood bar I found online. It was like its rating - absolutely fresh and delicious ocean gourmet! I had the Fruits of the Sea and my boyfriend had one of their specials, which was a whole sea bass with mashed potato and asparagus. We had their special oyster from Canada as appetizer. They were really smooth and soft. My entree was a bunch of sea 'fruits' served on linguine and marinara. I loved the slightly sour flavor of my sauce. It tasted really really special. The sea bass was a rather mild dish. But we both liked it a lot since it was rare to see a whole fish on an American dining table! We had a key lime pie for dessert since key limes grew in Florida. I liked the first bite better than the rest. It was okay from my point of view. I like something less dense.

Excellent food and very good service. I had the J&J Tower which was a filet, crab cake, and grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes. Delicious. Their ribs are kind of average so I would skip those and stick with a seafood dish. We didn't get dessert but will next time. Recommended.

Had a great dinner tonight. Found this great restaurant after talking with folks while we were wandering around Delray Beach for the day. While most of the places on Atlantic Avenue try and out do each other with hype and feed off the hubub of the crowds, we found J&J to be a quite spot that had a nice romantic vibe. The food and service was great. The oysters were spot on, the entrees (duck w curry risotto, lobster) well prepared, well presented and tasty. We were too stuffed to try desert, but not for lack of great choices

Our second time at J&J Seafood. We shall return. The three of us sampled breast of chicken, home-run, especially the sauce; Japanese inspired tender sirloin with mystery risotto (unidentifiable flavor) that was not eaten, and I reveled in blue cheese encrusted wild salmon prepared flawlessly, medium, with two luscious grilled shrimp perched on top, buttery smashed potatoes and sweet al dente asparagus. Two of us split shrimp scampi appetizer surrounding amazing porous crusty brown bread anchored in the savory scampi providing huge taste bonus. Triple stealth (no singing) birthday was celebrated with hot flourless chocolate cakes and rich, slowly melting chocolate ice cream we suspect is homemade. TIP: When you call for a reservation (and you should) ask what table you will get. Unusual for us at least, they set aside the table next to the front door. No warning from the person we talked to at about 10:30am same day. (I failed to get her name). We got moved to next table. Virtually any other table is fine except the one at the front door in this long and narrow fine dining venue where the wife of the owner/chef takes your order and delivers wine and other drinks. Acoustics can be challenging for some as the evening progresses. We regret not "finding" J&J's sooner. Addictive. We are 24+ year Delray residents.

Very good local seafood restaurants. We live in Delray and this has become our "go to" place. Great appetizer menu as well as daily fish specials. Love the oysters on the 1/2..always a good selection; baked oysters, pan fried oysters (yay corn meal!) steamed clams...best broth ever; and the whole hog snapper. Nice too that if the tables are full you can eat at the bar with full menu. Good wine selection too. See you there soon!

J&J -- which is actually J&J Seafood Bar and Grill -- is outstanding in quality and ambiance. Pricey, but worth every cent. The mussels, which I tend to be wary of, were luscious; the pan fried oysters with a lemon mustard sauce scrumptious. And that was just to start. My husband adored the Blue Cheese Crusted Grilled New York Strip with lobster mashed potatoes. He'd fly down there just to have it if we could afford to (not in our dreams). My Nut-Crusted Snapper was delectable. Mmmmmmmmmm. And, the servers have understated personalities wit no jive automated recitation of the dishes. They're real people who love the food for good reason and will spend time actually telling you about the food. Avoid the larger, noisy, lower quality restaurants lining Atlantic Ave, and call J&J for reservations (or else you may not get a table).

Absolutely amazing. The staff was amazing also. Appetizers are like a meal themselves. Lobster mac and cheese was so delicious. Shrimp scampi was incredible. The main course was great too. I have driven by this a million times and didn't know it was there. Definitely worth finding and going to this place. I will be back!

My husband and I came here to celebrate my birthday this weekend. I am a huge seafood fan and am constantly on the search for the best in the area. Yelp usually doesn't let us down so we headed over. First, this is a beer and wine place only. So no martini with my oysters but I was able to get over that :) We started with a baker's dozen of raw oysters. They were really large but tender and flavorful. Just the right amount of brininess! Served with oyster crackers on the side. For our entrees, I had a special: grouper with scallops on top of a mushroom polenta. It was incredibly delicious although I will say I was a tiny bit disappointed that there was only one small scallop perched on top of the fish. Polenta was to die for! My husband got a rack of lamb that was on special with a balsamic honey glaze. He ate the entire plate and literally licked the bones. I don't eat lamb, but if I go by that, it was pretty good! We were full so skipped dessert but no one around us was ordering any either so I don't think it would have been anything special. All in all, this place is no frills in terms of decor with awesome, fresh seafood. 2 thumbs up from me- I would go back again in a second!

My 2nd time at J&J and it confirmed itself as one of my favorite restaurants. I've only come on special occasions because it is pricey, but what an amazing place to reserve for those occasions! We started with the mussels in red sauce, the sauce was very delicious (i could have straight drank just the sauce) and mussels aren't that filling so it was a good appetizer to munch on. I would say the only better mussels in town are at Racks, that steam pot dish they have with the chorizo can't be beat. I also ordered a glass of red wine, they offer some decent stuff by the glass at typical prices for an upscale restaurant. Nothing really special available by the glass though because I'm sure they want you to buy a bottle, no big deal. On to the main menu, it's hard to make decisions at this place because they have a number of items and specials that sound so good. Regardless, I can't stray from The Tower. It comes with mash potatoes, filet mignon on top, with a crab cake on top, with grilled shrimp on top. Every bite of everything in that dish is outstandingly amazing. The mash potatoes, to die for! The steak, the most tender perfectly cooked thing ever. The crab cake, so freaking delicious! The shrimp, probably the best shrimp ever! I seriously will never try anything else at this restaurant because that dish blows me away and includes everything I ever want in an entree. My Girlfriend enjoyed her meal just as much as mine, she had some sort of grouper dish that was nothing short of extremely delicious. When I went to the bathroom, the waitress helped me coordinate a slice of birthday cake as a surprise for my GF. When I came out, she was standing by the door and said "Sir, we have a problem. Your GF just tried to pay the bill while you were in the bathroom". Pay her birthday dinner bill? Who does that?? That sneaky little!!! I told her to give me her card, swapped it with mine and asked for the key lime pie. The pie came and the table next to us erupted in happy birthday song. The pie was definitely not memorable, if you've been to Key West you really have high expectations for key lime pie. It didn't matter though, because the meal, the service and the atmosphere were perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner!

Ok some of my post might of sounded a little harsh, but I like good food! And when it's not I'm gonna tell you so! So if you think red lobster and the Capt.'s catch is good Sea food,, close this review now! Ok I have been searching 11 years for good sea food in this part of Florida and BAM here it is!!! Now I don't want to get ahead of my self all I had here was an appetizer and a Mahi-mahi sandwich. I really need to go back and try more. My appetizer, OMG! Blew my socks off I had the potato crusted scallops they were probably the best I ever had. The only thing on that dish was the potatoes could've used a little less cook for my liking. So the appetizer alone got 4 3/4 stars! Then I had the grilled mahi sandwich it was seasoned perfectly and tasted great, it's usually served in a wrap but I had it on a bun. The fish to bun ratio was a little off, but I can expect him to double the fish portion because the bun was huge. I should've had it on the wrap. I am definitely going back here and trying more dishes. They have daily specials and they all sounded great. I have Highhope's for this little seafood gem...

This place isn't bad, but im suprised that it has a 4.5 star average. The service and ambience was good and we have no complaints there. Giving this place 3 stars for the food. We had the fried oyster app, they were cooked properly but cornmeal wasnt seasoned at all, which gave it a bland taste. A special, spicy ceviche, wasn't spicy and had some very tough chewy pieces of fish. Not even sure what it was. Had the snapper off the regular menu for entree. The lobster /shrimp sauce had bits of shell in it. I counted 4 times that a had to pull tiny pieces of shell out of my mouth. It wasnt bad, but im still scratching my head as to how this place averages 4.5 stars.

We've been coming to Delray for years and I can't believe I've never eaten here! We went on a Thursday night in late April and the restaurant was packed. Luckily we had later reservations and were a little early. Our table was ready within 15 minutes. I had the Red Snapper. My girlfriend the sea bass and daughter the lobster ( Maine Lobster, not the puny southern variety.) Very fresh and cooked to perfection. The crowd dwindled and we had we had a nice intimate dinner. The owner and staff were a pleasure. If you are in Delray and want seafood definitely try J & J.

Very pleased with our entire meal- had the goat cheese salad (added mahi) fish was so flavorful and moist! Excellent salad!! At the table was also the seafood trio.. Crab cake was amazing!! Id skip the fried oysters, very small, nothing special ( and two had very fishy/ off taste) It was way too loud in the restaurant, I wish they had outdoor seating, I would have sat outside!

I'm surprised we didn't lick the plates when we finished. My family & I went here for the first time & we devoured all four of our entrées. We left feeling complete & not stuffed & uncomfortable. The beer battered Hog Fish was spectacular. I usually stay clear of fried food, but was willing to take a risk. It was more about trying the Hog Fish - And it was terrific! Such a lite tasting fish. Believe it was served with this salivating rice & veggie concoction. If you Love eating salt water life, you must bring your taste buds here!

I said I would come back. We made the trip to Delray Beach just for dinner at J&J's. This is my treat when in the area. I was pleasantly surprised with the food once again. I bumped it down one star because of the service. A few things just didn't make much sense to me. Our server had several tables in the dining room and then seemed to be running outside too. The order of tables seemed to put him in a disarray. Just didn't feel like we got the attention we deserved. The specials were fantastic with one being whole branzino (aka European sea bass) and yellowtail snapper both pan seared. Both were cooked fork tender and juicy. The champagne risotto was a nice alternative and I basically licked the plate clean. The specials ran $34 each, which seemed a bit on the pricey side, but it was worth it. We started off with a dozen blue point oysters. Such a good way to start a meal. A few of the family ordered a mahi mahi wrap which came with great praises. Even in a wrap the fish was awesome (I know I ate the left left overs). At the end of the day the food outweighed the service but when entrees come with that price tag you feel a bit shorted on the overall experience. There is just that one caveat. I certainly still stand by my recommendation. Also, beer and wine only. Enjoy.

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh and tasty. Excellent service! Value commiserate with price. Whole hogfish preparation was to die for and Grouper prepared 2 ways both succulent. Seafood chowder nicely done and Key Lime Pie was spot on. Broad beer & wine selection. Highly recommended.

Our second meal here, this time for lunch, was as great as the first. Our server, Amanda, was friendly, informative, and efficient. My wife and I shared the freshest, most succulent raw oysters we have had in a long time. I also loved the spicy seafood chowder. My wife and my mother both had a seafood trio of scallops, shrimp, and a crab cake, beautifully presented on top of a silky smooth beet and white truffle oil dressing. I can't wait to come back. We typically try new places for lunch and this place did NOT disappoint!! I had scallops that were out of this world! (I normally love them from Prime Catch) and from the reviews we decided to try the crab cakes. I love the crab cakes at The Old Key Lime House so I was prepared to NOT like them but I was surprised that I liked them a lot. They are different, but very good. Service was good. It's such a great local place! We will definitely be trying it for dinner!!

Walked about six blocks with my girl after looking at the Yelp reviews wanted to check this place out. We walk up hostess outside said she had a reservation for 7:30 and it's 6:05 not to mention the place was empty four people inside. As she was humm n hawwnn at me is said don't worry about it. Empty joint and she can't accommodate - who needs ya. Never be back, will never try. Plenty of places to spend money and have a great meal.

for a place you can go to with sandy feet, this place was absolutely delicious. i prefered the middle neck clams to the little neck, and the on-special oysters to the "larger than normal" blue points (but I am a big fan of the tiny oyster, and if you like larger ones these probably would make you very happy). they shuck the oysters right in front of you, with memory-filled oyster crackers to cleanse the pallet. for dinner we had the whole fish (baked mediteranean sea bass), which was a little rich (aka buttery) but still really good, and so good we will attempt to recreate at home. we also tried the champagne risotto, which was delightfully light. One entree is probably enough for two people. We saw a hamburger go by that was the size of the child's head who ordered it. (looked delicious though). We only ordered off the special list, but the menu was filled with many tempting items. You can sit at the bar, in a table, or outside. All spots will delight. Wonderful staff. Not the cheapest restaurant on the strip, but you will be glad you made the trip.

Atmosphere- 3 stars- small, casual, nautical- decor is cute but non descript- Food- 4 stars-- sauteed snapper with 2 shrimp on top in a nice sauce--high quality Staff 5 stars- nice staff- friendly and cute Prices are high- but high quality and nicely executed- snapper was around 30 $ plus!!-- atmosphere does not condone those type of prices long bar- comfortable to eat at bar with fresh oysters--- well healed clientele More in favor of grander atmospheres for same quality and price point on food-- such as Truluck

As a new resident to FL, we wanted fresh seafood. Coming straight from the beach, I wanted something delicious but not where I had to look like a million bucks. Using yelp, we wondered into J&J. It is ADORABLE, low lighting, pretty, on the inside but from the outside could perhaps get easily dismissed. The bluepoints were amazing. The lobster mac and cheese melted in my mouth. My husband had the Fruit of the Sea which was an assortment of shellfish and I had the Diablo which was similiar but the Lobster I had to shell myself. Don't get tricked from the outside because you will drop a little bit of money if you get drinks/apps/entres. I recommend to all.

The food at this restaurant is phenomenal start to finish. We started out with the appetizer special of shrimp on grits done in a Cajun/Creole type of fashion, but not spicy. This dish also had A garnish of fried okra. It all went together very nicely. Next we had a sampler of the three types of oysters they had that evening. All were delicious, some from Florida, some from Massachusetts, some from Canada. My husband has the whole Branzina fish as his entrée and I had the snapper on a bed of the risotto with a lobster cream sauce that was to die for. Desserts are homemade and spectacular here as well. The bread pudding, fruit cobbler, coffee orange cheesecake were all fantastic.

There are many restaurants in delay beach but this one really stands out for its outstanding cuisine. The service is very nice and friendly And the many dishes that they have really can make your day. This is definitely a restaurant I would go to. One of the best qualities the restaurant holds is the key lime pie.

Visiting from Brooklyn this week, and this was some of the best seafood I've had in recent memory. Ordered the grouper off the menu, a special appetizer, and my husband had the snapper special. This is a must visit for dinner in Delray. The nightly specials are always delicious fresh catches with great preparations. The service is also wonderful for a great bonus. The atmosphere is quaint and romantic but you can go there on a casual night too. The Fish Dip appetizer is the best in town!

Awesome fresh seafood. Delicous oysters, we tried all three varieties and loved each one. They were all super fresh, and none of them were especially briney. I was surprised they didn't come with mignonette, but luckily they brought us some upon request. After dinner the owner came by and chatted with us for a while, she was super friendly and really made us feel welcome. Our waitress wasn't great. She wasn't bad, she was just a little too busy that night to really take great care of us. She would answer one question and then run away before we could ask anything else. She also didn't appear super knowledgeable about the different oysters or wines. She did direct us towards a deliciously dry and crisp chenin blanc, which we loved. Interestingly, our handsome young bus boy was friendlier and more attentive than our waitress. When he saw that we were enjoying the gazpacho, he came by to ask us how we liked it because it's his favorite. Give that boy a promotion! The gazpacho was delicious by the way, with big chunks of vegetables, rather than the usual purée.

Food was okay. Fries were cold. Ordered no lemon in iced tea got lemon, no lettuce on mahi mahi sandwich got lettuce. Waiter didn't pay attention. Had to wait to order and wait for check. For price of food expected higher class service and quality.

J&J Raw Bar consistently gets amazing reviews from friends and family who have dined here. The seafood is really fresh, and it always seems to be cooked very well. The interior design is very cute, with a "New-England-cape-beachy-chic" type of feel. I really enjoy the lobster fra diablo which consists of a 1.5 lb Maine Lobster, 2 clams & 2 shrimp with linguini in a spicy marinara sauce. The best part about J&J's is that it's family owned with the husband in the kitchen cooking while his wife makes sure their guests are happy in the dining room. It can get loud sometimes when it's packed so if you're going during the dinner rush, I would ask for a table outside or come a little earlier or later to avoid the noise. Otherwise, it's fantastic! :)

We haven't even left the building and I have to say this has been a fabulous meal and experience. Both of our meals were so delicious. The dessert a flour less chocolate cake was to die for. Great ambience. Great night to celebrate 7 years of marriage.

Fresh food. Great atmosphere. The almond crusted goat cheese salad was absolutely perfect. Blue point posters were so fresh and delicious!

My wife & I stopped here on vacation. Very good food/oysters. Homemade dessert was outstanding. Service was good as well. Recommend it for anyone that wants a great meal without all the "noise" of some nice/large restaurants.

The warm rice salad topped with grilled salmon is one of my favorite dishes ever. They also have an interesting wine list featuring some amazing wines that I don't typically see in Delray restaurants.

Several months ago I had to pull Carol into this non-descript looking restaurant. They were full and we did not have a reservation, so we sat at the bar and were attended to by Nick. From that day on this has become our favorite restaurant in Delray Beach which is known for great eateries. The menus are top drawer! Never had a bad meal. The chef-owner takes pride in his skills, and it shows in consistently high quality, mouth watering, taste pleasing food. Just goes to show that looks aren't everything. This is the best restaurant in Delray Beach!!!!!!

I had apps there: I found the local raw oysters to be warm and much to be desired and a few were even unedible but my potato crusted scallops were prepared perfectly. Cooked to perfection, and a tower of tasty goodness!

Loved it. Would give it a 5 but, as good as it was (service, location, ambiance, flavor, noise level low), the place doesn't look like a 5 star. It is great though, highly recommend. Food definitely deserves a 5.

This place is very solid. If you want a hip and snazzy Atlantic Ave restaurant, this isn't it. The decor is simple and almost plain. The food though is very good. At first i thought the prices might be a bit high, but everyone in our party of 10 was pleased with the quality and portions. I had a beet salad and added grilled salmon for another 8$. The salad was terrific and the portion of salmon that I got was huge for the price. Serrvice was very attentive and they did a nice job of handling a big group.

Wow. Found this place by accident. The mrs and I were looking for any restaurant where we can eat with our dog. J&J offered us a table. Its a quaint very humble restaurant. Small, low key and uber friendly. The owner of the restaurant, Robert, is also the chef. He's VERY talented and has perfected every dish over the 13 years the restaurant has been around. We tried one of the specials and a couple of things off the menu. Pan seared yellow tail snapper and shrimp over mashed potatoes with lobster sauce. Quite a dish. Savory and delicious. This dish was amazing. I loved it. Calamari -- this was very unique. The batter was very light and crispy. There is a tangy sweet and sour sauce that is drizzled over it that makes it undeniably "Scrumptious" Shrimp scampi - this was the worst dish. Bland and sparse. please avoid this one.

My wife and I went back after a couple of years hoping to have a better experience than the last time. Fortunately they did not disappoint and redeemed themselves very nicely. We immediately noticed the renovation. The interior was lighter and brighter. We shared an order of mussels in a white wine sauce at was delicious and rich. My wife, who rarely enjoys crab cakes, LOVED them here. The crab cakes were overflowing with crab and next to no filler. She paired that with a mushroom soup. The soup was too rich for my taste but again my wife loved it. I had one of the snapper specials, yellow tail with a delicious sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and was extremely moist! Service was prompt and friendly. We can't wait to go back!!

Came here based on yelp reviews and was more than satisfied. Every item we ordered as well as the service was on point! The crab cakes were delicious. The fried calamari was different in an asian-type sweet sauce: very good! The salmon dish was tasty, and they had a nice list of wines to go with! I will definitely be back and recommend this restaurant!

I liked the food, but the place next door was loud and obnoxious. Don't sit outside. Make sure you get a table inside for a pleasant experience.

This place is a very cool fine restaurant in downtown Delray Beach just EAST of Federal highway on SOUTH side. We love love love it! My family surprised me with dinner here after a busy day at the office and have come back many times ever since. The staff and food are great too! Love the small size of the dining room too. Quaint and cozy.

I really did want to like this place....but it is just so odd. Very underlit...just too few light fixtures made it murky. The food was tasty; oysters were great--but everything that could have been done to fish was done just too much. We were psyched for grouper in Florida but it was served with a sauce and another sauce over mashed potatoes.....what happened to simple and special? Other fish had lobster sauce, or wine reductions--a veal reduction with fish? whaaa....? It was a very good meal, one of the better, in a week of eating in Delray restaurants but seemed to me they could do so much more (or less!); the skill was there.

Stopped for a light lunch. Shared a bakers dozen Gulf Oysters - tasty price performers. We shared the smoked fish dip, Caribbean crab cakes and the seafood trio. All were delicious and devoured. Entrees looked pricey - but our lunch experience of appetizers was tasty.

What a great place to go. Oysters both blue point and PEI were a great starter followed by seafood mac & cheese, crab cakes and the calamari . Shrimp and scallop curry, roast duck, grouper and snapper were all excellent. For desert bread pudding and the mousse cake.

I hate to admit it but I'm embarrassed to write a review for J&J's! Not because of anything THEY did but I have to be honest and admit WHY I've never Yelped @ J&J's. It seems when faced with a restaurant I love & normally arriving with an adequate appetite I may be ummmm (how do I say this) anxious, or ummm highly excited, or (Let's call it what it is) RAVENOUS! This has been my favorite restaurant for over 2 years after having here the freshest & absolutely the most delicious Fruitti Di Mare I had ever eaten. I didn't Yelp back then but even if I did....you would have had to scrape me off the floor to even "check-in"! I was with good friends & some new acquaintances that evening and I distinctly remember thinking on the way home "My Gosh, that was fantastic but did I shovel that down without ever putting my fork down once?" Being female, these things go through your head! And yes, I was told the next day that I indeed, didn't put my fork down, but when asked if my food was good..... I nodded!!!!! AHHHH (Audible scream) Great! Did I grunt too?!?! Holy macaroni!! So anyway... I try to get here at least once a month & I've been averaging a trip every 2-3 weeks for a couple of years now. Today I went at a fairly unusual time for my typical trip - Got there right at noon on a Saturday & there was an Art Festival right out in front on the street. It was raining, so there was a bigger lunch crowd than usual with only a few tables available. J&J's is small (sits approx 35?) so there were probably 20 already being served. But as is the standard here, we were seated immediately, greeted & waited on immediately! We had called ahead to find out what the special "Oyster of the day" was and found delightfully it was Malpeque! If you are a Blue Point fan....try these connoisseur favorites. They are petite, delicate and (oh i digress) ..... back to the restaurant! After our oysters, I decided to indulge in some little neck clams and a bowl of the tomato based fish stew! It was a true stew! It was a substantial bowl loaded with Mahi, clams, shrimp, and crab (and if I'm right there was 2 different sweet crabs in the stew but I didn't confirm that) But because of the rainy day this stew was a spot on choice that was really satisfying! After lunch my partner decided against our normal favorites of Bread Pudding (best ever) or Creme Brûlée for dessert and she instead chose a Banana & passion fruit cheesecake. The only down part of our meal was dessert.... We couldn't finish it all! Every bite of this meal was something I would love to have again. This restaurant just bears all the hallmarks of an exceptional restaurant in my opinion. The owner (John) is also the Chef and being a cook myself, I feel when the owner is the Chef, the food is going to be something you want to come back for! You have to remember.....if HE doesn't make something you want to come back for it affects HIS pocket....not someone else. So Chef/Owner is a great sign in a restaurant! Just one final thing I love about this restaurant.... The lunch and dinner menu are the same. So when you see the fantastic MRKT prices for the lobster, crab, etc..... It's the same at night! On Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach a Philly cheese-steak is almost $15.00 so, for MY money, I'd rather have a dozen oysters, clams, (insert any J&J dish here). So that's my 2,258 cents on this fantastic little place. But now I'm already thinking about what I'll eat the next time I go.

The service was terrible, the food overpriced for the quality that it was, and one of the persons in our party got food poisoning.

This is one of those hole in the wall treasures. They have very fresh food and many daily specials. I am a big fan of their Mahi Mahi wrap. As a big man who only eats fish when my wife makes me, I can always smile when I eat this baby. The slaw is very good and so is the burger. The fries are hand made with love and they taste it. They have all the raw bar favorites i.e. oysters, clams, stone crabs, etc. I had a Thai Shrimp and Scallop dish with the best risotto. I ever had. (YUM) There are no shortage of restaurants on Atlantic but this on is one of the winners. They do not take American Express and that kinda sucks. They also have fantastic soups. They only have beer and whine so no jello shots or Whiskey. Do not judge a book by it's cover, and this one is top place for me.

This is truly one of the best restaurants in Delray . The food is reasonable in price and very consistent . It's not hip and you won't find the see and be seen types in here. That's a couple blocks down Atlantic . But if you want a meal that's about food and not everything else then check it out. Sit at the bar and enjoy Nick the bartender . He really creates his own ambience .

We were traveling to Delray for the weekend and referenced Yelp for a good restaurant. We were not disappointed with the Yelp ratings or the food! The place is small and we lucked out walking in on a Saturday night at 8pm and got a seat at the bar. We tried the raw clams which were small and delish! My husband ordered the grilled seafood trio over risotto and was in love with the scallop, but felt the lobster tail was a little dry. I had the lime chili shrimp appetizer for my dinner (it was plenty) and it was delicious with a medium spiciness. For dessert we shared the key lime pie which had a delicious crust, but the filing could have been a little lighter in texture (it was more of a jello/pudding consistency). All in all, I would recommend this restaurants and would definitely go back.

Why did I wait so long to try this restaurant? It could be my favorite in Delray... after going on a Thursday, I went back again on Saturday, just to try more menu items. This is only the beginning. Small and intimate but casual and unpretentious, this friendly spot has enormously satisfying seafood and helpful and engaging servers. The fresh fish is prepared carefully with just enough sauce -- perfect! Appetizers are tasty and right-sized -- try several as a meal, especially the scallops, or the seared tuna salad. The fish menu is varied; and each evening presents several interesting specials. Snapper, grouper, shrimp, salmon, tuna... Grilled, baked, poached... Whole fish was on the menu, too -- it was so hard to decide. Accompaniments include fresh vegetables and awesome risotto, potatoes or quinoa. Every item was tasty and cooked perfectly. I will return again and again.

Visited this place during the Del Ray Art Fair. If you don't know its there you would walk right by it. Was very busy but we were seated very quickly at a high top table in the back. We started with a bottle of wine. The wine list was not great, the usual suspects and like most restaurants over priced. The wine they had on the menu as a special for the day they were out of. No big deal we ordered something else. We started with a bakers dozen Blue Point Oysters and a dozen steamed clams. Both items were very fresh and very delicious. The staff was very attentive even though they were very busy. The Waitress came over and filled our wine glasses several times from the chilling bottle of Chardonnay that we had at our table. She also filled our water and soda glasses several times without us having to ask. For our lunches we had the crab cake sandwich, and two of the mahi mahi sandwiches. Both Blackened. One mahi sandwich we had on a roll the other on a wrap. The sandwiches were served with homemade fries and coleslaw. All very good. All of the sandwiches had great flavor. The dining room is quaint for any occasion.

Wonderful menu of seafood fresh and delightfully prepared. Family run with friendly service and caring touch. Appetizers to desert all delicious. Even our non seafood eater loved the grilled chicken dish. Everyone left with satisfied palates. Can't wait to return.

While this restaurant isn't the swankiest or the hottest spot.... the food is the most delicious I've had in Delray. I had the J & J Seafood Trio shrimp, scallops and crab cakes with roasted beet vinaigrette as a main. The scallop was huge and cooked to perfection! Best scallop I've ever have to date. Also that Key Lime Pie! I am still thinking about that pie.... so good.
