Not so good today. Had the panang curry chicken and had to say it was fair at best. A few thin pieces of chicken and two red peppers. It was obviously thrown together, barely warm. The ginger salad was over dressed with a sweet watery dressing. A few other observations: Junk all over counters including empty soda cans and dirty plates. Staff filling soy bottles with a giant water pitcher right in the dining area, super tacky. Sushi "chef" was dressed in a hoodie and wearing earbuds for music. Never washed his hands, tremendous cross contamination. Travel to daytona and go to zen bistro, much better.

First of all I am Thai, my mom is 100% pure blood Thai, born and raised in Thailand....eating homemade Thai food all my life, I think I know good Thai food. I don't eat out much for Thai food because we cook it all the time. When I'm busy and not feeling well, I love to out at a good Thai restaurant and enjoy myself...This is a wonderful Thai restaurant. So grateful it's in Deland! Try it, you will love it.

I was not a Thai fan based on something I'd had years ago. Thankfully, my sister and my niece insisted I give Oudom a try; they were certain they could win me over. Since that time sometime last year, I have returned for many servings of Pad Thai with chicken. Others in my party love the drunken noodles, the Royal Seafood, the sushi and the wine selection. Just last week, a friend and I went for lunch and she loves the cashew chicken. The service can be a little slow but it's always helpful and with a smile. I'm a Thai fan now - well, at least Pad Thai and hopefully I'll move on to other dishes soon.

Go here! I live in south Florida, but I visit my family in Deland a few times per year. It has now become a tradition for my sister and I to go to this restaurant for lunch every time I visit. The Panang Curry is THE BEST I've ever had in any restaurant anywhere. It's gotten to the point that we simply laugh when we get menus, because we always end up getting the panang! We have had the crispy duck and we've tried the other curries, as well as several different sushi rolls. They were all excellent. But ask for the panang - it isn't printed on the menu. You won't be sorry!

It has been delicious since I was in high school and that was 8 years ago. My go to is the panang curry with chicken, the spring rolls, and of course the fried calamari (anything fried, please). The food is always up to standard, all I can say is maybe slap a few smiles on the waitresses faces and give them some coffee BUT the foods good so I don't expect it all.

It's right on Main Street in the center of Deland. Great Location good service food was good but the soup was just ok. Would I come here again..definitely.

Wife and I had lunch theretoday, everything was on point including the service. We had the summer rolls, tom yum soup, pad thai and the phangan curry with seafood, well balanced very tasty food. We will be back soon.

I love this place. Best fresh made sushi around. It's a gem within downtown Deland. The Thai dishes are very flavorful and a nice selection. That being said, this time the service was severely lacking. We waited 15 minutes after being seated for our waitress and 4 other tables who arrived half an hour after us received their sushi and main meals at least 15 minutes before us. My waitress forgot my sushi completely and my dinner was cold. She was a little rude and sealed out of it. 2 hours later we finally got to go boxes and left. I will definitely return for the food but NOT sit in this server's area again.

My husband and I decided to eat Thai and went to our local place. It was great! We hadn't been there for some time and the whole atmosphere has changed. The dining seemed more open, we visited with folks we hadn't expected and we had a great meal with some take home too! Enjoy!

My husband and I ate here for the 1st time tonight. It was fast, with a good ambiance, and very delicious. Definitely will go back. Go early unless you want to wait.

I eat lunch here several times a month get here early it's the best Thai food for many miles everything is fresh and served quickly. Great service and clean. There are a few good choice places to eat in downtown Deland and few that you'll only go to once. The beauty and beast sushi is the bomb. I like to experience the culture so of course I order my meals "Thai Hot" and a pitch of water it's simply marvelous :)

If you are out in Mount Dora or Deland or are just the type of foodie who is willing to drive for a tasty meal then do yourself a favor and check out Oudom Thai & Sushi. It's a family owned establishment that uses their own homemade sauces and fresh ingredients. Their sushi selection is deliciously fresh with my favorite being their Dragon and Rainbow roll. The Volcano and Mexican is pretty good too but a bit heavier. For Thai food I usually get either their Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad See Ew, Triple Flavor Fish, Tom Yum soup, one of their curries and anything with basil in it. Massaman curry is not on the menu but if you ask for it they can make it for you. You also can't go wrong with their combination appetizer which includes chicken satay, dumplings, and cheese and vegetable egg rolls (serves about four people). I am a regular here so tell the owner that Trung sent you. Oh and don't forget to drink the Cha Yen there! :)

Wonderful atmosphere. Hit or miss spiciness Location: excellent. Easy to get to but parking can be a pain. Closes at 10 on the weekends...seriously? 3/5 Atmosphere: couldn't be better....Ikea meets Asia 5/5 Food: for a Thai restaurant it seems hit or miss with spicy. Annoying not knowing. Otherwise very good 4/5 Service: as other reviewers have noted the staff is in the weeds pretty often. One of the servers has limited English and is quite abrupt and never smiles. They do try but things kind of unravel when it gets busy 3/5 Value: lunch is amazingly inexpensive. Portions are appropriate 4/5 19/25

Oudom has a more upscale atmosphere these days, from when it used to be called "Mr. Pad Thai's." The decor is nice, but it can be a little crowded, but I never feel rushed. Food is really good variety, and the special; is usually interesting with a Thai twist. I slightly prefer Songkran in south Daytona, but my wife likes the Panang curry here more. I'm pretty sensitive to noise, and I find they definitely have an issue here.

  • Megan G.

Food was delicious, pad thai was just the right amount of spicy, the lemon grass snapper was the show stopper of the evening. It is a small place so a wait should be expected! looking forward to going back

Nice restaurant with pleasant service. Summer Rolls were good. I ordered Panaang curry and my wife ordered Royal Seafood. Both dishes were tasty but for the price somewhat underwhelming. I want to go again and try just sushi. I think this may be the real star here.

This Resturant has the best Sushi I've ever eaten in my life. The owner and all the staff are friendly and the food is beyond delicious. My husband and I have been going there a couple of times a month since they opened and we've never been disappointed. Try it you'll love it and tell Jeff the Sushi chef you heard about it here.

My favorite sushi! Their crunchy tuna roll is amazing! The Thai food is good too but I can't resist getting sushi!

  • Cale A.

If you are in Deland this place is worth trying! The good was good and very affordable prices. Really good curry. Loved the red and had them add some Thai eggplant too it!! Great specials too- I tried the tuna cubes over seaweed salad and loved the different flavor combinations!

Absolutly the best Thai food in Volusia county. The Red Curry or Panang Curry is amazing, the chinese entrees are also good, the shrimp hot pot in particular. I am normally not a fan of iceburg lettuce salads, but like this one because of the ginger dressing. I don't like sushi so all I know about that is that everyone I know that does like sushi raves about it. Service is never great but I think it is because they are always slammed!

Excellent quality food however service brings them to a four. They are always busy always overwhelmed best bet order to go eat at the bar across the street.

I never got to try this place out in the years that it was Mr. Phad Thai, so I resolved to give it a shot in it's new incarnation as Oudom. This is a tiny little place right downtown; it's within walking distance of Stetson and has a dining room that seats maybe 50. Though small, I was pleasantly surprised by the decorations; deep red walls, black and white photography on the walls and stylish Japanese-styled sconces give the place a hip air. The piped in music was, again, typical "hip restaurant music." At 7:30 on a Friday night, the place was packed, with a large proportion of Stetson kids / young professionals. Even so, the wait for a table wasn't more than 10 minutes. I came here with a hankering to try out the sushi portion of the menu, so that's all I can vouch for. The sushi menu is average; all the typical rolls and fishes, nothing missing or outstanding. The fish in the case looked fresh from across the room, however, I spent an anxious 5 minutes trying to figure out who actually made the sushi, as there was no chef in sight. Finally, a young Asian guy in a white t-shirt and baseball cap walked out of the kitchen and put on gloves in front of the sushi case. Uh-oh. However, I was pleasantly surprised when my sushi came out; the fish was quite fresh, and the presentation was actually very nice. Their china is stylish, geometric plates, and the rolls and garnishes were arranged nicely. I've preferred the rice at some other sushi establishments in Orlando, and the wasabi had a rather thick, pasty consistency--I may be splitting hairs. The only real gaff was the placement of some rolls too close to my eel nigiri, leading to teriyaki getting on my other rolls. Prices were in line with other sushi places I've tried; nigiri for $4.50-7, rolls for $6-10. As I mentioned earlier, I didn't get a chance to try the thai entrees this visit; however, prices seemed to be in the $12-15 range. Overall a great experience; I'll be back here for certain.

Best Thai food that you will find for the price. I also enjoy the Sushi. My favorite dish is the triple spiced fish but you won't go wrong with the fried rice. Try it if you are in DeLand.

  • Emily C.

By far my favorite sushi place I've ever experienced. I did not expect this little place to be as great as it was but it surpassed every expectation that I had. Everything is freshly prepared upon ordering. I'm very picky with where I eat sushi and this is my #1 spot. The rolls are huge and decently priced so you get what you pay for. I have no had any of the Thai options, they always look really good but I can't overlook sushi. It's rather small so if you're going on a Friday or Saturday night you might want to get there sooner than the time you want to eat.

Love this place! Im so happy they now have a downtown orlando location! We have been to their Deland & mount dora locations many times. They have the best Thai in central Florida. I know it's cliche, but I the Pad Thai. Sushi is also exceptional.

Food was Delicious and fresh... Service was absolutely horrible... Our server was very rude and got even worse after we had to ask her several times for silver wear, condiments etc, and forget about a refill of water out of the question... Our food came out almost 35-40 mins later and mind you all we were having was sushi and soup nothing extra out of the ordinary or crazy complicated on preparation... I knew immediately it was not the kitchen staffs fault when I noticed our orders sitting on the counter waiting on our server for quite some time... If this Place changed its rude staff around some this might actually be a great place to dine as for now I'm not impressed at all I'd rather do sushi from the Publix grocery store deli...

Some of our friends have raved about this place and to be honest, had no clue that it even existed in all the trips & lunches we have done to downtown Deland. So we decided to meet up with them, hit the antique stores and do a 1 p.m. lunch at Oudom Thais. The two of us arrived before the 3 others meeting us and entered at 1 p.m. asking for a table for five.. The waitress took us to a booth and said she could put a chair at the end of the table.. Kinda laughed and said the booth would "barely" accommodate 4 people, could we wait and get some tables pushed together when another party left. She kinda grimace at us, which was a turn off right off the bat.. We waited at an empty table next to a couple who were getting ready to leave and after 10 minutes grabbed the table after they left and asked if they could be put together to accommodate our larger party, which was met. Our friends came, continued to rant praise about the place, especially about the dressing on their little pre- order salads.. We all ordered the Spring Roll, which was well prepared and tasty, except the dipping sauce could have had a bit more peanut or pepper oil for better results. I always base a Thai place on their traditional Pad Thai dish and my spouse on their Panang Curry, so we ordered those dishes. Pad Thai with medium spice was tasty, but came with broccoli, now who puts broccoli in Pad That- it was a first for us and we lived in California for 25 years and traveled the world. There also was no crushed peanuts in the Pad Thai which was a disappointment.. They did have fresh lime and bean sprouts, so that saved them on my rating.. Spouse indicated the Panang Curry was tasty, but not thick enough and served with red pepper and bamboo, and would have been better with snow peas ore better vegetable selection... The medium spice, was Americanized light, many more Thai places give you more bite. Overall the food was pretty good and even after our friends asked us what we thought and we said, "good", two of them turned to each other and said.. "it was better the last time they were there"... And the waitress did end up being a great one after all and we tipped her well. Don't think we will be driving from Ormond Beach to Deland because of the Thai food, but would eat here again as an option when shopping the downtown..

The sushi is good, but no need for rude service when dining out. We brought family from out of town and out of state here for a special occasion dinner. It was a complete mess due to the server's unbearable attitude. We were so patient and polite saying thank you, excuse me, etc. The way we were treated, we will never return to this establishment. Deland is a lovely town with so many amazing dining options.

Ordered some take out recently when I was in the mood for some summer rolls and drunken noodles. I'm not from the area and was so glad I gave this place a try. The food was pretty tasty and inexpensive! The shrimp and vegetables in the summer rolls (I requested for the crab to be omitted) were very fresh and the peanut sauce was really delicious. I requested for the drunken noodles to be prepared mild since I don't like really spicy food and they were cooked perfectly. I found the tomato chunks to be an interesting addition (never had drunken noodles with tomatoes before), so I set them aside. I also ordered a thai iced tea to go and it was very refreshing and not too sweet.

Nothing against Deland, it's a cute place to visit, but I wasn't expecting amazing sushi or thai here. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find quite good sushi and thai at Oudom. The place is small and was quite busy for 8:30 on a Thursday. It's sort of cramped, and with as many waitresses as they had, the service overall was a bit slow. I guess all the help was in the front? Ordered drinks and summer rolls, got drinks and placed full order. My friend got his ginger salad right away (part of his sushi dinner) and then soups a few minutes later. Still no summer rolls. Finally got those, and then almost immediately after came our main course. Kind of poor timing there. As for flavors...the ginger dressing was very sweet and almost fruity, slight hint of ginger. Miso soup was standard, nothing special. Tom ka gai soup had a perfect broth, coconut and lemongrass nicely balanced, chicken was cooked perfectly and nice thin-sliced onions with a hint of cilantro. My friend got a maki combo which had a california roll, spicy tuna roll, and shrimp tempura roll. Fresh but not amazing, nothing really special. Rolls were pretty well formed. I got green chicken curry which was very good, but could have used a bit more heat and a bit thicker sauce. Prices were pretty good, whole bill came out to about $38. Probably wouldn't go back if I'm in the area (too many other places to try), but if you're really craving a sushi or thai fix and you're passing through DeLand, it's a good bet.

Fantastic Thai! I first dined here 4 weeks ago at a business lunch and drove over an hour to come back 2 weeks later. The yellow curry is the right amount of spicy with large chunks of potatoes and carrots in a delicious curry sauce. The sushi is simple and fresh, not to be missed. Service in the evening is a little slow, but the servers are friendly and the dishes more than make up for it. If you're in DeLand and looking for sushi or Thai you won't be disappointed.

Authentic & true Tai food that is consistently delicious. The overall vibe & service is great on the weekends but seems less consistent on a Monday for example. The mother / grandmother in charge of the sauces / recipes is pure magic & heart. Thank you! My only (-) feedback would be to keep imported beers in stock & keep being authentic especially with your curry dishes :: keep serving your rice (((on the side))) despite ridiculous reviews below.

Stunned! We accidentally ended up in Deland and we were starving. I know better than to trust online reviews for Thai in out of the way locales, but I couldn't help myself. Inside is a former diner with booths, tables, and a counter. Waited 45 minutes for food on crowded Friday. The waitress apologized multiple times. I ordered green curry chicken (thai hot) and companion ordered chicken pad thai medium. When the food arrived, it was shockingly worth the wait. Hubby was less impressed, but he can't taste most food so he isn't a great judge. Anyway, by the time we left, there were people out the door!

I think I have Oudom at least once a week. AMAZING food! The sushi and curry are my favorites, but everything is good! I've never heard someone say they tried something here that they didn't like. It can get busy on weekend nights, but it's so worth the wait! The service is great, and the atmosphere is small but pleasant. I would recommend Oudom to anyone!

Loving this little DeLand Thai place. Sometimes I am skeptical of places that serve mixed Asian cuisines, like Oudom Thai & Sushi, which serves both traditional Thai food and sushi, but no reason to worry here. This place gets it so right! Had the chance to check this place out on a week night and it was packed-that's a good sign. The staff was really attentive and even accommodating moving tables for the larger parties that were popping in. I've been here a few times in the past, but I have to say they have really upped their game in the deliciousness factor! For starters our table tried the crispy spring rolls, summer rolls, and calamari. All great flavors and the calamari was tender and perfect while paired with a sweet/spicy chili dipping sauce. For entrees we tried a few to share at the table. Our group tried the Pad Phet with sliced chicken as the meat. It had a great curry flavor without the typical coconut milk added-it was intensely flavorful and rich, it went very well with the side of jasmine rice. I also had the panang curry with pork and that is served in a bowl with a side of jasmine rice. The curry looked like too much sauce and not enough rice, but there is a method to this-put all the rice in the same bowl with the meat and curry, then mix it up. You will have the rice expand a bit as it soaks up the excess curry and it makes for the most comforting Thai curry experience you can imagine. It was so good and I would order their curry again and again. I had a chance to speak to the restaurant owner, Oudom, and he said his mom makes all the curry sauces, so love that this place is so traditional. So now to the sushi, it was super fresh and prepared so nicely. I love the volcano roll and the DeLand roll. I wish I could remember all the roll names, but I was so overwhelmed with the goodness I forgot them. I tried both raw and cooked rolls, all phenomenal and I would love to come back again and try more. If you are in the area come here, you will leave happy.

I have eaten at Thai and sushi restaurants in Los Angeles, Miami and other large cities and paid tons of money for "great" food, but this little jewel in downtown DeLand can knock out any of those big city / big priced places. Each time my husband and I come to Oudom Thai we have the best service and the best food. Their Chili scallops on the Thai menu are the best sea scallops I have ever had. Their sushi menu has some items that are fused from different cultures and puts a new spin on sushi. I have some great pictures that I wish I could figure out how to load here so you could see the gorgeous meal we had on Friday night. The wait was around 30 minutes but it is easy to access the bar and have a few drinks outside while you wait. Once inside, Oudom is a little dark, but that adds to the ambience. The crowd is mixed between Stetson students and couples of all ages. I really haven't seen children in here in the times we have come, but it is a smaller location and the mood of the place really isn't for children. The prices are excellent for the portion sizes, and I would recommend ordering from the sushi and Thai menu so you can sample a little of both. Just writing this review makes me want to go there ASAP!

Everything here is delicious. My favorites are the Panang Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Triple Fish. Sushi is the best I have had in Florida.

Best restaurant in Deland period (and with closure of Bangkok in Altamonte, perhaps the best Thai in central florida) . Love this place. Favorites are the the tom kha gai soup, spring rolls, and the thai tea... For entrees, usually pick the chicken phad thai, the pineapple fried rice, or one of the curries. You can't go wrong with any of it. It's small... if you visit in prime hours, expect to wait.

  • Savannah K.

The Thai is superb. The sushi chef knows what he is doing. Bravo ! The girls who work here are very slim, flirty dressed in tights and throwing themselves at most of the customers. The portions could be much bigger - the prices are fair and the service is not that bad.

  • Travis M.

I eat here often and am never disappointed with the food. I usually order the yellow curry chicken Thai hot and I can't get enough of this dish. It is by far the best yellow curry I have ever eaten. The sushi is awesome! The cheese rolls are great! The atmosphere is much better since they renovated the place a while ago. This restaurant is my first recommendation when someone inquires about where to go.

Mmmmm Chinese Broccoli with the steamed rice!!!! If I could make broccoli this tasty, if get more daily green veggies in my diet! This cozy little find is tucked away in downtown Deland, FL and never seems to disappoint. It is dim and intimate with an extensive sushi and Japanese menu. I've been here three times so far, and plan on many more =)

Went on a Saturday night and the place was packed and a line out the door, always a great sign. This is not a fancy place, and they have a fairly limited menu for the Thai part of the menu. They do have an enormous menu for sushi, you could eat their everyday for sushi for 2 months and probably not have the same thing twice. I don't eat sushi, my hubby does but he didn't have it on This visit, so I will stick to the Thai samplings. We started with Gyoza (Pot Stickers), their were 5 in the order and were good. Dense with alot of filling and a thicker dipping sauce which was good. I had lettuce Wrap, chicken mixed with onion, fresh ginger, and cashews served beside wedged lettuce. It had a very tender chicken, served with white rice. The only Ning I didn't care for was the addition of peanuts. They were not listed in the menu and I don't care so much for peanuts in my food. I did have to pick them out. No biggie. My husband had the Pad Saew, broad flat rice noodle with egg in a sweet garlic brown sauce with shrimp, scallop and calamari. He didn't leave a drop on the plate. He liked it very much. Don't let the simple decor fool you, there may be nicer restaurants as far as decor, but the food is very good. Lastly my husband had the Thai beer and he liked it very much.

This place is one of the better places to eat (food wise) in the Deland area, but the service is some of the worst I've ever exsperienced. The staff seem to feel like they have better things to do than serve you and are in no hurry to acomadate any request. If you'd like to eat here make sure you have plenty of time to kill.

  • Taia N.

The food is wonderful here. But the service leaves a lot to be desired. We came in at 2pm for lunch, they close at 3 until dinner. The waitress came to take our drink order and then walked back to the bar and proceeded to roll silverware for ten minutes instead of getting our drinks. I have had consistently bad service here, the place would get give stars if large improvements in their waitstaff are made!

During Bike Week I ate 3 nights in a row. Pad key mao and seafood basil were excellent. I asked for "Thai hot" seasoning. They complied. Great mango sticky rice dessert--a whole mango! Reasonable price on Thai food. Wonderful

Probably my favorite place in Deland. We used to eat there often before we had kids. Not really kid friendly, but that's what makes it great for a date night. When we do take the kids for an early dinner they are very accommodating.

Awesome house dressing on the real fresh salad. Real coca-cola from a can served in a real glass with ice, no fountain soda here. I had the panang fish. A red curry / coconut dish with snapper. It is to die for. The wanton soup fresh, home made. Best I have had anywhere. This restaurant will be visited by us many times in the future. Great spring rolls too. Everything is fresh made, making this dining experience a definant positive. The service was quick and attentive. I drink a lot when I eat. I never ran out of drink once. She was right on top of it with another can of coca-cola before i ever emptied my drink glass. This was my first visit here and I found it to be very impressive. If you have not eaten here. You are missing out. We had two seriously good meals with appetizers, and drink for $32.00

I have eaten here a few times and the Thai food and sushi have always been very good. The inside is very small and has no atmosphere. Usually crowded and a bit pricey. I don't think we've been back since standing outside waiting for the place to open and they stood inside looking at us waiting until the exact minute to open, giggling, and letting the clock run a minute or so over, making us wait. They seemed to get too much pleasure out of this power move, so we left. Gotta treat people with respect if you want their money.
