I love the originality of the menu! Friendly and welcoming staff and owner. So refreshing to see a chef actually make interesting choices and stand out.

Found this place on Trip advisor as we were looking for something different than the normal restaurants on Woodland... It had really good reviews but I have to say that we were not impressed. We ordered two burgers with salads and seeing that there were only 6 people in the place we really don't think it would take to long. Plus from the reviews we thought these would be some awesome burgers. It took almost 35 minutes for our food to come out... And that includes the salads. Again, with no one really here we were thinking that it would take that long and it would have been nice to have the salads before the burgers. The burgers looked and tasted like they had been broiled and then put on a grill for the sear marks. My husbands was not seasoned and I thought mine was over seasoned. I didn't want to send it back because our server was very nice and I didn't want to wait any longer. The salads came with home made dressing but again having them brought out with the burgers didn't give us a chance to enjoy them. Overall it wasn't really bad, but is wasn't good enough to make us want to return.

Cute little place in DeLand, FL with a good selection of items and outstanding cooking staff. Our food was well prepared and the wine was great. The atmosphere was laid back and the outdoor area is lit in a neat way that creates a whimsical ambience while you eat. Check this place out when passing through this small Florida town.

My friend, myself, and our two kids just had lunch here this afternoon. Both of us are big fans of promoting local businesses. We also have traveled a good amount and know there are some real gems out there. I am not so sure this is one of them. She had had a great lunch here with her mom a few moths ago, and I had a mediocre lunch with my husband a while back. We decided to check it out together. It is a very small place in the back of an old house. I believe it has a B&B. It seems their is only a single staff member for the dinning area and two people in the kitchen. We were seated outside around 2:45pm. Only one other table (with two people) were seated. The waitress was friendly and mentioned that because of a menu change a few things were not available. She then said they have some great burgers and maybe we would like to look them over. As we ordered drinks she gave a list of what beers they had. I myself ordered a Corona. Not much time passed and she came back out with the drinks, but said they were out of Corona. She said they had a great Sam Adams though. No problem, I'll have that then I said. As she came back and placed a beer on the table I noticed it was a Blue Moon. At this point it was already a later lunch and we just wanted to order. I said don't worry about it. We then ordered an artichoke bread (yummy) $8, citrus glazed mahi sandwich $12 w/ side salad, bowl of cream of potato soup $4, and a cheese burger w/ mac and cheese side $14. It took a long while for the bread to come out. So long that I had to pop my head inside and say something. Shortly after it arrived. Very tasty. We then were trying to occupy our two 8 y/o's for what seemed at least 30mins. I then again said something. We were told it was coming right out. When the waitress came with our food she stated that she was very sorry for the long wait. She said that they had run out of hamburger and the chef needed to go to the store for more. This upset me. Instead of letting us know they were out, or why it was taking so long, they made us wait and offered us no other options. She then said the mac and cheese was a $3.50 charge, but she would wave that for the long wait. Over all I feel that for a $57 lunch we could have done much better. With only two others who ordered before us, why did they not know they were out of hamburger? Why would a chef ever leave his kitchen to run to the store mid meal? I say that because we had just received our bread when he left. He was the only one in the kitchen we were told. Also, knowing the area, what store did he go to? The only close stores are maybe Save A Lot or possibly Winn Dixie. Either one of those is not what I would pay a $10 restaurant quality burger for. Over all it was another meh lunch and I don't think it's a place I'd care to try again.

We arrived about 10:30 on a Sat morning and the cafe was less than half full. It was about 10 min before our server came to our unprepared table. She said she would be right back. Upon her return she took our drink order, two coffees with cream and sugar and two waters, one with out ice please. 5 min later she delivers coffee and water (both with ice) no sugar no cream no spoons. Another trip to get cream and sugar still no spoons. 10 min later, after we poured sugar from the bowl and stirred it with the straws from our waters. By the time she brought menus they gave us a lunch menu and said breakfast was over. We said we for breakfast and called ahead to make sure they were open and serving before we came, so she gave us a breakfast menu. Simple order, 1 cheese omelette with tomato, onion and cheese, one spinach and egg on a brioche. We didn't see our server again for over 20 min then she comes empty handed to say they are very busy right now and she doesn't know how long it will be... I note that 60% of the seats in the house are empty. 20 min later she returns again with coffee pot in hand but by this time my belly is becoming aggravated from having coffee with no food. We suggest that she bring something we can eat, bread, fruit, something to appease almost an hour of waiting for breakfast in a mostly empty cafe. 10 min later the other server delivers the brioche and potatoes and 2-3 mins after that my omelette arrives. We have to request, silverware, ketchup and hot sauce. They offer 3 hot sauces, I ask them to please bring all three. They return a min later with one hot sauce in a paper cup and silver wear. No ketchup. And we were never offered bread toast or fruit. Now the food, the potatoes were so so garlicky it over whelmed the table and were inedible soft over cooked mucky goop. The omelette slightly over cooked out side and undercooked inside with a few tiny scraps of tomatoes and onion strings. The brioche with spinach and eggs, spinach was soggy and wet over boiled the egg under cooked even after asking to ensure the whites were not runny. I went inside to pay and the lady inside who appeared to be the mom says, I hope you enjoyed the food and it didn't take to long... They charged us $16.95. I gave then $17.00. This was our third attempt to eat here and definitely our last. Go to Doug and Lil's Potato Patch restaurant down on south Woodland. They do the best breakfast in town.

Had the pleasure of eating at this quaint little restaurant while visiting my daughter who goes to college in the area. The items on the menu were reasonably priced. Our server, a pretty youg woman, was courteous and well mannered. She reccomended a few dishes that we might enjoy and she was right...the food was excellent. After our meal, the Chef/Owner, Tony came over and asked about the meal, which we raved about. If ever in this samll town of Deland, do yourself a favor and stop off for breakfast, lunch or dinner at this cafe...you will NOT be disappointed...I promise!
