First timer who ducked in and got some grub to go. * Quart of Hot-n-Sour Soup ($2.55) * Quart of PFR ($6.95) * House Wor Bar - Tender white meat chicken, roast pork, jumbo skrimps, all sauteed with snow peas, 'shrooms, and Chinee veggie and Hoisin sauce ($12.75) Were it not for the drunk, loud, smokey, obnoxious, friendly, talkative, rude, and dangerously-close-to-getting slapped around white trash loser hanging around annoying folks outside the establishment than I may have squeezed out another star. I guess I will have to go back. Good first impression. Lots of food for the money, good flavor, not overloaded with MSG, and cooked in veggie oil. SCORE. Cabeza OUT!

I used to eat at China Island often. I live a few blocks from the place.Food in general was pretty good. Nothing special but very convenient for a quick meal. Once in awhile something would taste from old oil or an ingredient would be left out of the dish. The fried rice was consistently oddly flavored and I stopped asking for it and asked for white. The owner who often seems to wait and cook during lunch (I think), would be very condescending if I reminded him something was forgotten, or I dared to ask what he thought was a stupid question. An example of my stupid questions would be "do you serve lo mien with soup?". I never told him the fried rice had stunk as I wanted the avoid his sneer. I got tired of putting up with the guy when I last dared to remind him he forgot my drink . Meanwhile my girlfriend had talked to someone who worked there part time taking phone orders . She was a neighborhood high school girl. She said the place was filthy in the kitchen, with burning cigarettes dangling out of the cooks mouths. She said sanitation was non - existent and she wouldn't eat the food itself because of all the flies in the kitchen. I guess the Health Dept. agreed with the young lady: tinyurl.com/mqcrkdq I now wonder if the fried rice had too much fly in it!

The food is good but the attitudes of the women hostesses are terrible. The Kung pao chicken (spicy) is full of veggies, bok choy which I love. I order this each and every time I go there. Now for the hostesses. There are 2 of them. Both have real sour attitudes when you talk to them. I feel like they have constipation or something. They never smile. If things are so bad then go somewhere else! This is why I gave a 3 star rather than 4.

I have eaten in the Rest. about 6 times. It is 3 out of 5 Stars but the Take-out is 1/2 * The delivery Service is a Night mare. They DO NOT EVER SEND WHITE RICE. This kills almost every Dish that has a Sauce. The Chinese Lady who mostly answers the phone is so 'not Caring" as they come. The food is almost good and this is a pretty good review for Chinese Take out. When you get the Food you will be either missing the sauce for the Crab Rangoon and or White Rice. My opinion is find another Take Out and then let me know!

We choose this place because it's close to my boyfriend's house and it was on the way to the movies. We had the barbeque ribs, shrimp, chicken fried rice, an egg plate dish (my boyfriend loves eggplant). Chinese food is one of my favorites and this place was just ok for me.

They use fake seafood in place of real lobster in their Treasure Island house special and when I saw this after it was delivered to my house, decided to never order from them ever again. I'm from Boston, I know lobster very well, and all those pieces of Krab were anything but real lobster. They say its "fresh lobster meat in the description too, I'm disgusted

I just ordered delivery from here and I honestly wish I'd saved the $14.. #24 combination the chicken was gross with a really tough breaded exterior. The fried rice has no taste. The crispy strips given were stale. Should have known by the package of mustard that looked like it was going to push the cap off from the amount of gas trapped inside (obviously so old there's something growing in it). This place used to be good but it definitely isn't. Avoid; better to starve then even try to stomach this mess

Please BEWARE of flying fingernail clippings at the register. An employee was clipping her nails near the takeout orders and register. I was unlucky enough to be hit by one of these clippings as I went to pay. She only offered a soft giggle and quietly said sorry after I yelled out GROSS! I will definitely not be coming here again and I would suggest the same to anyone else who is opposed to having nail clippings in their food.

In the mood for some Chinese food and unsure of where to grab some in our new neighborhood we drove past China Island on the way to Publix. "Oh, look! Maybe we can get food from there someday." The very next day we were having a Chinese feast. Orange Chicken - DELICIOUS! Get this! The all white chicken breast, breaded and drenched in delicious sauce. It brought some broccoli in the mix...delicious. I would recommend this with the white rice, but I had it with the fried rice and it was good as well. Pork Fried Rice - I am a huge fan of fried rice (especially of the pork variety) and while this one didn't disappoint, it didn't blow me away either. It was a little greasy, even for me, but the pork was plentiful. A lot less salty than other fried rice, but I kind of liked that. Sweet and Sour Chicken - Chunks of chicken fried and served with a sweet sauce (on the side, not drenched in). I had the chicken, with a little drizzle of the sauce and then a drizzle of the spicy mustard that comes with each order. Overall, it's a solid option for Chinese, literally walking distance from the house.

Average American-style Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy. Worthwhile for inexpensive lunch. Never had any issues with quality or service. And yes, they ARE open.

This is my go to Chinese restaurant! The orange chicken and friend rice perfectly satisfy that craving for Chinese food. Although not the best Chinese food in south Florida I've had it certainly one of the best options in the Davie Area. The staff is always helpful and polite.

For New York style Chinese food, it's hard to beat China Island in this part of Broward County. A big plus is that they only use boneless chicken breast in the chicken dishes. The soups are also slightly above average, with a heartier broth than most. It's priced a little higher than most, which I consider a fair trade off for the neighborhood and quality of meat. On the down side, I went once for lunch for general tsos chicken and asked for extra broccoli. They wanted a dollar per piece of broccoli. I mean seriously??

Food is ok what is a bummer though is that the Chinese lady that answers the phone is really rude. She refuses to be helpful, I called she was rude. When I got there she doesn't speak fluent English so the least she can do is try to be nice and understand the customers need. It's called customer servicing.

Had the Honey Garlic Chicken Lunch special. Usually have the Szchewan beef lunch special. Lunbch specials are good choice of egg drop, wonton or hot and sour soup with a main plate and hot tea. Service is fast, place is clean and prices are reasonable.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
