11FEB14 We stopped for gas and a quick bite while traveling from NOLA to Jacksonville. I like Hardee's ham and cheese sandwich and my wife said she could eat their chicken tenders.....so.... We arrived at 12:10 CST and ordered a ham 'n cheese, five piece chicken tenders (that way I'm assured of at least one left over). At 12:35 the people who had arrived after us were being served and beginning to make eye contact as if to say "what the hell?" At 12:40 I asked for a refund. The manager (same person who'd taken our order 30 minutes earlier) had to come give me the refund. The manager asked the young lady working the front "why?". I was standing right there. The young lady told her that we'd been waiting 30 minutes (hard to deny since the time was stamped on the receipt) and she couldn't help it. She was doing the best she could do... The manager didn't say a word to me as she handed me the refund.... No "I'm sorry"....nothing.....NOTHING! We went across the street to the cleanest Wendy's. We were greeted by Shakera and had food in hand within minutes. I had an epiphany at that moment. The reason Hardee's does that little order number on the table and bringing the food to you is so you won't realize how long it takes them. It buys them a few extra minutes that buffers their total inefficiency. Go to Wendy's....better food, a helluva lot faster, the staff is courteous and friendly to customers and each other, and it's A LOT CLEANER, too!!

The burgers were fresh. The salad was crisp. The Caesar salad was slightly musty. They put NO Caesar dressing in the bag for the salad, which ruined the salad! The strawberry lemonade was excellent. A medium is really 32oz. They were quick at the drive through window. The fries were soggy.

I rarely eat fast food, but if I have to, Wendy's is one of my favorites. The food just tastes fresher, and the service seems to be better than most chains. While on a recent road trip and fighting a hangover, I knew the cure- a bacon double stack from Wendy's with a gallon of Dr. Pepper. This place was fairly easy to reach from the interstate with plenty of parking. The service was very friendly, and the food was cooked fairly quickly. I never complain about the wait when it's being cooked fresh. The order was right, and my burger was delicious. Again, you can taste the fresh ingredients and beef. Just way better than McDonalds or BK. French fries were hot and crispy, and the giant Dr. Pepper made me a happy, happy man. This was a great stop, and a great example of how Wendy's does fast food right. If you're in the area, especially cruising down I 10, stop in and grab some grub.

I really like how Wendy's has gotten better over the last year or so with better quality food. About 3 out of 5 times I order food they get it right and fresh and the other two times the serve cold chicken sandwiches and stale fries. The staff are friendly and take care of you if they get it wrong. Not a bad Wendy's in this area.
