I think I need a TB test!!! This was, by far, one of the worst gastronomical experiences of my life - right after the fried grasshoppers I mistakenly ate in Malaysia - only they were cleaner!!! Please - DO NOT eat here unless you want to throw up or experience severe diarrhea!!!

They have certainly gone downhill in the few years I have lived in Crestview. They are down from "pretty OK for a buffet" to "well, it probably won't make you sick but..." if you are starving, save your money and just go accross the street to Bk or McDs. At least you'll get what you expect there, and won't pay as much.

We continue to go to Ryan's for lunch with the kids, but my daughter and I have also gone for dinner a couple of times. Our Girl Scout Service Unit meeting was held there recently, too. Since I wrote my last review, there have been far fewer instances in which the food was dry, under seasoned, or running out during lunch rush. In fact, I've noticed a marked change in how the buffets are handled, so everything seems to be a lot more consistent and tasty. The fried chicken has always been a favorite, as is the mac & cheese, potato salad, and cole slaw. These are things I tend to sample when we go, and they are always perfectly cooked. Recently, they had a jambalaya style concoction that was fairly tasty, and they've had chicken and dumplings fairly regularly (also tasty!). We don't see enough pork chops on the rotation ... and when they do have them, they tend to be over cooked or under seasoned. All in all, there seems to have been an improvement in the last few months, and we're all quite happy with eating here! The sweet tea is still pretty good. :)

I am giving this place 4 stars because of the great customer service that me and my fiancée got when we ate for very late lunch. Our server, Sandra was very attentive and fast. She made us feel that we are at home. The manager as well was very nice and helpful. I saw him help preparing the place, changed some light bulbs, etc. ... When it comes to food, it's Ok. The steak was cooked just the way I like it! But when it comes to great customer service, that is something that they should be proud of. Very friendly and nice people...

EDIT: Apparently this review was filtered. Screw this site's filters. I went there today for lunch with my family. Lunch was $7.00 + Drink if I remember correctly. Food was pretty meh. It's average buffet fair, but it's poorly set up. Instead of having 2 rows of trays, one on each side, they have 3, with one in the middle. This means that you have to reach across food to get what you want, which is unsanitary even by buffet standards and since the tongs are under the heat lamps you will burn yourself. For lunch, the cook to order steak station was closed (Expected) but they did have a "Mongolian BBQ" deal set up. I stress the airquotes around Mongolian BBQ. I've had some great Mongolian BBQ at places that specialize in it, so I knew to lower my expectations. Was STILL disappointed. The meat was pre-cooked, and poor quality, the veggies were sad looking and were almost raw on my plate. I know I could have probably brought it back up and had it remade, but didn't feel like bothering with it. I cannot comment on the steak station, it having been closed, but I enjoy my steaks medium-rare, so I would NEVER get a steak from a place like this. It was not the cleanest restaraunt up front, so I can only IMAGINE what it was like in the back, and I won't eat a medium-rare steak from a restaurant I don't trust and I don't eat steak that is cooked more than medium-rare. Therefore, I can already see a good portion of the price of the dinner version of the buffet going to complete waste on me. Obviously, if these are not issues for you like they were for me, your mileage my vary. The buffet offerings were not that varied, but did have pretty standard stuff. There was a LOT of fried food and I think like 4-5 different preparations of chicken. The food was thoroughly average to below-average. I noticed that the food trays didn't get changed out much. They had a slice of pizza sitting out on a slab that didn't get changed the entire hour or so we were there. I avoided a good deal of the standard pitfalls of buffet food like Rice and Spaghetti, so I can't really comment on the quality, but it didn't look particularly appetizing. I went into the men's room to wash my hands, looked clean enough but can't comment on condition of the toilets. The service staff was friendly enough, cleared the plates well and didn't leave us hanging for drinks, although honestly I would have just preferred if they had a big fountain station set up so I could get my own. From what I understand, Ryan's does a senior discount, so I noticed that a good majority of the people there were elderly. They tended to slow up the buffet lines quite a bit and while I am not trying to be overly rude, they did not contribute to the odor... From my first impression, Ryan's is a poor quality old folk's buffet. Perhaps their dinner service is better, but I cannot comment. EDIT: I revised my review from 1 star to 2 stars. In my opinion, a 1 star restaurant is a place I will never return to, no matter what. While I don't see myself ever choosing to go back to Ryan's on my own, if someone else was buying, I wouldn't turn down the free food, unlike some places I have been that were so bad that i would never return, even if I wasn't footing the bill.

Good spot if you have kids, there is a little bit of everything for the indecisive. Food was what you'd expect from a buffet, for the price it wasn't a bad deal at all. Kids eat for 99 cents on Thursday, woot. Chicken pot pie was yummy.

For the price you could go to Desi's and get home cooked food instead of preprepared food from the freezer/can/case. I've been here a couple times and just wasn't that impressed. Maybe if they had better options in the salad bar and some home made deserts I might consider going back.

Went there on a whim yesterday. Not disappointed, steak was cooked to order and was pretty good, very juicy and tastey. Hostess was very attentive to our needs and others in her area. I am sure that we will be going back at least once a month.
