If you come here expecting a mexican fiesta with decor and music to match, you will be sadly mistaken. But what you will get is friendly staff, delicious food, and a full belly. We were welcomed by the man behind the bar and encouraged to ask questions about the menu. I was leaning towards getting a quesadilla but saw they were the size of a Chicago style deep dish pizza and knew I wouldn't even eat a quarter of it. The man behind the bar suggested the chicken chings (something I normally wouldn't have considered) but I went for it. Oh, am I glad I did! They were delish! (shown in picture). My boyfriend got the chilidilla, which he also loved, and nearly devoured. I definitely recommend checking this place out. If we lived in the area, we would probably be regulars

My new favorite spot for Tex-Mex. Every employee I encountered was super nice. Loved the counter service and the smallness of the place, very hometown...beachy...friendly. Food was filling and delicious. Thanks for a good time!

I have to start by saying that its hard for me to give one star to any business. Nevertheless, Taco City deserves it. Me and my brother got there after surfing for over 6hours( we were literally starving). Taco City was the closest thing we could find in our way to the next stop so it made sense to eat there. We both ordered two different burritos (el macho) and something else. The burritos were "ready" less than two minutes. When I got my food it was disgusting. It was a ball of cheese and some tortilla and maybe some undercook chicken. The worst burrito I have ever had in my life. My brother had the same experience. I ended up just eating the stale chips instead (Basically I paid 11$ for stale chips and a cup of water)

Ok where do I start.... my husband and I & our 2 kids were here last week. Saw the good reviews and decided to eat here. BIG MISTAKE. We are hispanics and from Tx and this is far from tex - mex or mexican cuisine. I had the shrimp taco - very bland. Nothing spectacular about them. Came with refried beans which by the way were disgusting , had no flavor. And came with rice , which tasted like it came from a box ( instant ). My husband had the Chong ( I think that was the chicken one ) DISGUSTING ! He also ordered a side of guacamole. Was a big portion. Come to find out they put shredded lettuce on the bottom and the guac on top to give you the illusion that it's a lot. All in all our bill came to $50. Waaay overpriced. Oh yeah and the salsa tasted like it came from a jar. I would never come here again. Hopefully no one makes the same mistake we did.

I used to brag about this place and unfortunately it has changed. We went here as a family every Tuesday and sometimes another time during the week. The food is not the same but it's not bad. However, I ended up with short curled hair in the bottom of my salsa. I felt this stuff happens and just got new salsa. The my wife was eating the tacos and a few strands of dark hair was in the middle of the meat area. This caused us to never go back and granted it's only been over a month. It is kinda sucks because it was part of our routine. But there is a lack of cleanliness going on that is unacceptable.

Such an endearing eatery, small and yet packed full of hungry customers, this says a lot about the meal that one can expect. I ordered the "El Hombre" burrito that was loaded with deliciously cooked shredded beef that was flavorful and extremely tender, rice, refried beans and lots of cheese with sauce. Not only was it delicious but it was very filling after a long day of being out at the beach. I also tried the chicken chongs that were deep fried rolls of chicken and tortilla deliciousness topped with lots of melted cheese. Yeah, it's not authentic Mexican but you know what? I tasted really good so who cares? It's good food, at a good price, despite the traffic of people, the place seemed pretty clean, and the wait staff and servers were all so extremely nice as we talked about our day at the beach with them. They love their home town and are proud of their food and you can tell they sincerely want their customers to love it too.

I really like their tacos. Today I got them with rice and beans on the side. I also ordered a big root beer. I noticed a few people coming in from the beach and placing orders. Why not enjoy a taco or two with fun in the sun. Very tasty and I cant wait to come back to this casual beachside establishnent again.

We haven't been here in a long time. They changed owners sometime within the last couple years and it's a little different. Not quite the same atmosphere. it was average so it was okay it's not someplace we come frequently.

American style tex-mex. Taco Bell plus. We used to live in San Antonio, Texas and know the real deal. This falls into the same lame category with Cantina Dos Amigos and Azteca. I would recommend El Tequila at 412 N Harbor City Blvd Melbourne, FL 32935

Great place to eat on Taco Tuesday! They have chicken or beef tacos for $2 each and draft beer for $1. Excellent portion sizes on the tacos and they come in either soft or hard shell.

  • Dion J.

Um yeah! If you are looking for authentic mexican food do not stop here! If you are looking for good margaritas don't come here. Their margaritas come out of a carton! A CARTON! To make matters worse their margaritas were wine based! What the heck is up with that! No shredded beef! No carnitas! Just ground beef and chicken! Oh yeah they made their mahi mahi tacos with lettuce. The mahi mahi seemed to be baked not fried or grilled. To be honest I hate taco bell but I would go there before coming back here! Don't even get me started on their salsa!

Taco City is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. We have brought family with us several times and everyone has loved the food. My favorite is - 2 enchiladas combo (one chicken, one cheese) with rice and beans and 2 side orders of guacamole. My husband loves the 2 taco combo with rice and beans. Love it!

  • Bill W.

Food very bland and worse then that, the meat in the beef taco looked, smelled and tasted no better then dog food...completely inedible. We will not go back to this restaurant.

I ordered the Lexi's Southwest Wrap, Danny's Way...a lot, a bit bland but filling. I could only finish half of it. My other party ordered the Chings and Chongs, Jr's style. He loved it but could not finish it either. The staff are extremely friendly and on-point. Very refreshing compared to standard chains. I recommend going, it's cool, calm and friendly.

Every time I'm at the beach I must stop here! I love this place!!!! To start, their salsa is amazing! They generally hand you some with chips free. You order at counter and they'll bring food out to your table once ready. Today, I ordered the #7 a taco, relleno, and an enchilada. Amazing! Enchilada also came with refried beans and rice. My favorite was the taco and prolly next time will stick to those. My partner had "Macho" chicken burrito and loved it also. Fresh, delicious this place is a must! They also have a pretty decent beer list and wine based cocktails. I wish I had this restaurant in my neighborhood!

Our favorite place in cocoa beach. When we lived in Georgia it was our first stop when we got back to Florida......even before we went to see family :-) I think it is one of the reasons we decided to move back! Get the Chings with Cheese and the Guac Dip....oh yeah and the Dr Death hot salsa

    (5)
  • Rachel B.

Completely disorganized restaurant. Pepper poppers were the best thing there. Enchiladas were disgusting soft tortillas with shredded chicken and burnt cheese on top. No enchilada sauce.

  • Shelby K.

They had a really nice vibe. Very colorful and alive. Good music. Easy going. The chips and salsa were alright. Kinda sweet. Every time you need a refill you have to get up and go to the bar. I got the shrimp tacos with beans and rice. Beans and rice were good, the shrimp tacos were alright. Not much to them. I got the avacado sauce on them. They were mostly lettuce. My boyfriend got the big seven or something. It had enchilladas, tacos, and chile rillanos. The chile rillanos was very tasty. I would get that next time. Not a bad place, but not anything great.

Billy G.s review........ that guy is just hating so decent. Go back to cali if you don't like it. Because taco city is like an east coast land mark and I personally think they make the best tacos I've ever tasted! I'm about to go eat some now!!!

I grew up in California and spent a few years in the Houston area. I know Mexican, and Taco City is a poor excuse for comida Mexicana. I ordered a couple of tacos and a big beef burrito, figuring how can I go wrong? The flavors in both were bland at best, while the meat in my burrito was like knawing on a dog's chew toy. The salsa was not freshly made, instead tasting like it was poured from a jar. It didn't take long to realize I went wrong by pulling into the parking lot. Locals swear by this place, so talking negatively about this place on the beach is like dissing hometown hero Kelly Slater. To avoid this dilemma, avoid Taco City and opt instead for Taco Bell, a few miles north.

  • Ryan V.

Food is pretty good. Ordering from a counter and watching the dude struggle to ring stuff in sucks. Having to wait in line at the dinner rush to order another beer sucks. Probably just going to sick to cantina in indialantic.

    (3)
  • Beth W.

Don't know why it only has 3 stars. Yes it's a total dive but the food, especially tacos, are great. They are actually partially fried with the meat in them vs just the shells fried by themselves. So they create a little pocket so the whole things doesn't break in half. But get the chicken. Beef was too greasy with it being fried also.

  • Jennifer C.

My family and I found this place while on vacation one weekend. Figured since there were lots of cars, it couldn't be that bad! The food was okay and prices were pretty good. I think this place would be okay if you wanted to take the kids to grab lunch for cheap. I had the cheese enchiladas which weren't too bad. The presentation was not the best but it tasted pretty good. I might go back if I wanted to grab a taco fast and cheap. I feel that it was about 2 steps above Taco Bell.

    (2)
  • Anthony S.

I would definitely go back and recommend this place. The food was very good and nice to large size portions. The atmosphere was beach wear to casual. Seemed like more locals picking up food to go but plenty of tables and booths to sit 20 people easy. Not a tourist trap. The help was nice and attentive. The price was $$.

It's been 3 years since my first review. I went here for lunch a few months back. The quality of the food wasn't very good. So I'm dropping it from 3 stars to 2 stars. Years ago a Taco City taco was hard to beat, sorry to see the the place slide. I've heard they've had a series of new owners. Once we hear things are improving, we'll try it again. Time to call in Gordon Ramsay or Robert Irvine.

I like the food here. Despite the old building they have excellent tacos and the cheese enchilada is very good. Wait staff is very polite. If you're looking for an inexpensive good Mexican food Taco City is the place to go.

Lord help me guide people away from this awful restaurant. Honestly, just spend the little extra on gas and drive south to Dos Amigos you won't be disappointed.. My quesadilla was soggy and funny how the commenter below said they make Chicago pizza sized ones?? Uh, well mine must of missed the mark because it was small and flat as hell, not to mention SOGGY. And the burrito was just a mush of beef, cheese and tortilla. Paying 10 bucks for the Hombre you would expect veggies like let's say.. tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos etc. Don't even think twice to splurge on the guac, it's just as terrifying. Overall, the lack of quality on the ingredients and under prepared food will not leave me coming back. And I hope to make both customers and the establishment itself aware the disappointment.

Quick place for lunch. Space inside is small, but we found a place to sit. I got the "macho" and it was great. Service was quick and friendly! Really no complaints besides it was hot inside and it seems to be an older place. But overall clean, good food and service!

    (3)
  • Cid P.

No complaints from me. It is kept clean, well staffed and nice selection to choose from without having a confusing menu. We were a large group with kids and most of us had The Macho. The portion was large enough to take to the hotel and eat it the next day. Your prices are lower than what is expected in a tourist spot. Many locals were enjoying the food while we were there as well. It is very close (driving) to the major hotels just north of it. We are already making plans of eating there again later this Summer. Next time, we are eating outside (nice outdoor seating.) Reading previous Reviews: This ain't Mexican Food folks, it's Tex Mex.

    (4)
  • Stephanie K.

Great Tex-Mex for a great price. The servings are generous and you get unlimited chips and salsa if you eat in (their spicy salsa is just right). It's right near the beach, so you could go walk off your meal on the sand afterward. Their appetizers are okay, but the entrees are great. The Hombre is fantastic and it has huge chunks of beef and a great flavor. Definitely worth the drive past Patrick Air Force Base.

Heard from some locals that this place was sooo good. Decided to get some awesome tacos. Well when you sit down you then have then get back up and order at the bar. Bring some hand sanitizer because the menus are filthy, probably not wiped off in months. Then you have to get up and get your drinks, silverware, napkins, straws, etc.. Someone then brought out our food, not sure if she was a waitress because she was never to be seen again. Both ladies in our group ordered hard shell tacos and all were broken in halves upon arrival. My son ordered a beef burrito and it was cold, my fish soft tacos were lost forever, buried under a thick layer of beans and rice. Food was more or less an attempt at a TexMex style and not a very good attempt at all. We were 4 of 8 people in the entire place and never saw the waitress again. No one stopped by and asked if the food was okay, so I'm not sure if they even offer free refills or some kind of desserts. This is not at all a must eat here place while in Cocoa Beach, it's more of a last resort because there's nothing else open establishment. Very disappointed with dirty menus, food, and service. Please do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money somewhere else..

Vegetarians love the chiquita and meat lovers love everything else! Don't understand all the hate, but this place is better than ever with the new management. Plus the most bad ass taco truck I ever done seen!

Great tex-mex style food & always excellent service, along with a nice laid back atmosphere. The chili rellenos are the best I've ever had. And I love the aquarium:) I will definitely keep coming back!

This place was decent. When arriving you order your food first at the bar, then get a table. The food came in a timely manner at the height of the dinner time. I got the basic thing on the menu - tacos with retried beans and ride. Pretty good. They were out of a lot of different kinds of salsa with their chips. Sad cuz that's what we came for.

As far as family owned Mexican Restaurants go, this one is fine. If you are looking for fun, easy going, tasty & great prices, then this is your place. It's not a fancy place but that's not its goal. Good food, great prices, fun atmosphere!

Okay, so, the place is a dive. But it is the perfect mexi-american taco place for a beach day or a quick lunch. The tacos are tasty, chings are amazing, and definitely get dessert! (The chips and salsa aren't my fav, but hey, they're free.) On my birthday I drove an hour to get here and have a nice beach day. I would gladly do it again.

Taco City has been a Landmark in Cocoa Beach for years , my 1st time eating there was over 45 years ago , and even through owner changes it still has great food. A can't miss if you're in the area for lunch or dinner

Less than impressed. Came to Cocoa Beach while on vacay in Orlando. DD wanted tacos so we ran by Taco City. We had to be back in Orlando for practice (UCA) so ordered carry out. Jalapeno poppers, 2 tacos, 1 taco + enchilada and chicken changas or chimies or something like that. So, get our order, get in the car and start back. We received 1) Jalapeno poppers that tasted like they had been frozen. 2) beans and rice. 3) what may have been an enchilada - not really sure. It was basically some beans and rice with a little bit of chicken thrown in 4) the chicken things which were so dry I couldn't even choke them down. The beans and rice were totally inedible too. I get better beans out of a can! Honestly - I would avoid this place like the plague. Paid $40 for totally inedible food - and they didn't even get the order right (no tacos - NOT ONE!).

  • Jenn S.

I definitely judge a Mexican joint by the quality of their queso and theirs is the worst! It tastes like (and I'm willing to bet it did) come straight out of a can. I can't say I was overly impressed with anything else I tried. I do know a lot of people who rave about the place (I really don't get it), so just don't tell anyone I sent you if you do decide to go.

  • José A.

I haven't been to this place in over 20 years - from what I remember, its changed only slightly - no better, no worse. The place is just a little over being divy, but that's what gives it its charm. You can pick your own table, pick what you want at your table, but you order your food at the register. The staff is friendly, maybe a little slow and distracted at time, but overall good. My wife had the beef tacos which were made with homemade hardshells and I had this concotion called the Cholo (Mexican slang for a young Mexican thug.) Both dishes were superb. No dessert this time, but their menu only had one thing on it anyway. If you're looking for a place on the beach, like that relaxing dive-like atmosphere, and want to each really good food at a reasonable price - this is the place for you.

    (3)
  • Ben F.

I love this place. It feels like home. Fireballs followed up by a Macho is my normal order but I like the chings on occasion. The place is kind of a dive but to me thats the charm. No liqueur license so keep that in mind. Old school Cocoa Beach.

  • Mike L.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is edible, but very bland. Taco Bell might have more flavor. All the dishes we ordered had large portions. My kids liked it, but they were really hungry and will wolf down almost anything when in that state. They really need to learn how to make real guacamole here. It had a weird consistency and taste. Like it was made in a blender with 1/2 sour cream mixed in. At least the beer was cold.

Yum yum thought their enchiladas came with ground beef but it was the beef Colorado, I decided to try it and this was the first time I've ever liked that kind of beef in my enchilada, they brought our food to us and the busser offered to refill our drinks each time he came by yum yum taco city even awesomer than before didn't know that could happen.

Taco City is literally 20 feet from the place I'm staying for a few days, so I figured I'd give it a try. I called for take-out and ordered the Supreme Quesadilla (chicken). I must say that I was a little surprised to see all young (early 20 somethings) Caucasian kids making the food.. While I like all of the ingredients that came in the quesadilla (cheese, olives, tomatoes, green chiles, and of course the chicken), I don't think they tasted fabulous together. I think there should have been more cheese (it was all kind of dry and didn't hold together well - when cut, all the ingredients spilled out). The chicken was shredded, and also a little dry. The whole quesadilla was massive, though: 1/2 the size of a dinner plate. The guacamole, as another reviewer mentioned, needs more avocado. It was creamy, but tasted too much of mayo. The "salsa" also left a lot to be desired - it really tasted like crushed tomatoes from a can. It was cheap - under $10 and included chips and that "salsa." I MIGHT head back to try the chicken enchilada that Suzy mentioned, and only because it's so close. Otherwise, I'll be looking for more authentic fare in/around Cocoa Beach.

Great prices. Hometown vibe. Pretty good Mexican food. Everyone is So friendly. Always happy after I've visited. I've been going here for years. Get the cheese dip, the #6, #7 or go a la carte. Skip the Margs (not real tequila - no liquor license) and go with a local beer on tap. My ONLY complaint is that there isn't a Merch wall where we could get a souvenir t shirt or the stickers that I see plastered all over town!!

This is a solid 3 stars. I really don't like the serve your self concept. With all the food and beers we wanted, my bf spent the whole night going back and forth to the bar. The food is okay. The tacos were a bit bland but fresh. The cholo was awesome and I highly recommend. Just enough spice. Try the cilantro salsa.

Been going here for about two decades. New managment has tweaked a few things, but its mostly unchanged. Chicken Chings with cheese and fireballs will please you everytime. Wash it down with an ice cold Amberbock. Love this place.

I had the Jr.'s Style Chongs and they were amazing. The food here is incredible. The cleanliness of the dining area and restrooms, not so much.

Coming from Arizona I can tell you that this is definitely not Mexican food. This is what happens when white people try to cook outside their ethnicity. The salsa was like tomato paste and simply was no bueno. I got the hard tacos and the shells seemed over fried. The rice was more Cuban than Mexican. And the beans just looked nasty. Why does my plate have to come out of the kitchen so hot as hell when all I'm ordering are two tacos. Also two hot plates on one tray, how the heck am I supposed to separate the two dishes without getting burnt? Lazy! Also when we walked in the place the air was really musty. Rather go make tacos myself and sit outside and feel the cool breeze of the ocean. Please do yourself a favor and don't come here. Never again sir, never again. UPDATE 5/6/2012: I have been harassed on two occasions by "alleged" customers of Taco City because of my review. I think that the owners should invest their time and money into improving the quality of the food. We wanted it to be good when we visited, but it just wasn't. Taco City would be a perfect candidate for Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares.

As a local, I know that you either love or hate this place. I'm in the latter camp. I've eaten here several times and it's just plain horrible. Nothing good here to speak of at all. How can you screw up tacos, you may ask? I don't know...my teenage son can cook tacos and make them taste good - Taco City on the other hand, cannot.

Best surf-style mexican food around the area. Friendly environment, fast service, and amazing food. Order the Chings or the Chongs, you can't go wrong.

I had the chicken quesadilla and it was great! Fresh ingredients and great size for the price! We received our food quickly, friendly folks working there and they also offer military discount!

Good prices, laid back atmosphere. Food could have been tastier. Had chicken enchiladas, they were a bit dry and bland. Might come back to try the tacos which looked decent.

Delicious Taco City. I have to stop at Taco City every time I visit my sister in Florida. It's an absolute MUST. Their chicken burrito has a perfect flavor that I haven't been able to find in any other burrito (I live in LA) and although it's not mexican food by any standard, it's still delicious in its own saucy right. The prices are fair, the seating is plentiful. The burritos are juicy, the nachos are yums, my family is always pleased when they go to Taco City, specially after a day of beaching and surfing. Happy times at Taco City.

Absolutely terrible !!! And I thought Taco Bell was bad. The salsa looked and tasted like tomato sauce with chunks of tomatos, and some salt and pepper added in. WHAT ????? And the beef tacos, if one call them tacos were just as bad too. If you are going to advertise yourself as "taco city" at least you can do is make a better attempt at serving tacos. I found some REAL Mexican food in Orlando on Orange Blossom Trail, about three miles North of the Mall. It's a drive, but it's worth it compared to what is being served at taco city. I'm only giving them a rating of one star because they don't have anything lower... Save your money and stay away !!!!!!!!

The food is fine, but the problem is the atmosphere and the distance (10-15 minute drive) from Cocoa Beach hotels. Locals know the ordering procedure, but tourists don't, so there's a lot of confusion, especially around lunch and dinner peak periods. If you're willing to eat on off-periods, as we did, the experience is okay. You queue up and place your order, and hope they get it right. If not, it's back to the end of the line. PS. Someone affiliated with the restaurant harassed me on another restaurant rating site for not rating their place more highly. I would suggest that they work more on improving the customer experience for future customers rather than for those of us who've already made their ratings and can't go back in time to change them. Happy eating.

Horrid food! I swear everything came from a can, or Sav-A-Lot's discount produce table. My companion & I were starving, but choked-down only enough of our meals to take away the hunger, in hope that our next destination beach bar would offer something tasty that wouldn't make us sick. Seriously - it was that bad!

Their salsa is canned marinara sauce. That's just the beginning. Too many awful things to mention. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Let me begin this review by stating that I am not a very picky person. In fact, amongst the people I generally eat with, I am usually satisfied the easiest. Given this, you can imagine how horrible the food is here for someone like me to assign a one star rating. Additionally, I've lived in southern California for over 10 years, giving me an additional perspective with which to compare the quality of this food. I'll start with a reasonable description of the dish I ordered to go, the "Bandito." Upon arriving home and peeling back the foil from the circular aluminum dish, I was dismayed at what was suppose to be a burrito. Instead, I was given a tortilla that was obviously just hastily slapped over some poorly cooked ground beef. The tortilla was saturated with grease and because it was obviously wrapped with very little attention to detail, the beef had spilled out. A burrito usually, in my experience, contains lettuce, tomatoes and other ingredients and most importantly, has SOME type of flavor to it. The ground beef had absolutely no flavor. I ended up eating about a quarter of it and giving the rest to the dog who graciously accepted and devoured it. Taco Bell produces higher quality food at lower cost. To add insult to injury, the price of this "burrito" was over 8 dollars. Before concluding, let me re-emphasize that I am not a food critic or critical of much of the food I eat. I do however, have a minimum standard. Taco City failed to meet that standard. Bottom line - do not eat here. You are better served by spending your money at ANY other mexican restaurant. I'd recommend El Tucan, La Fiesta, or Tijuana Flats. If however, you are looking for an expensive meal for your dog, Taco City is the place you're looking for.

First time I was here, it was awful... so was the second; but, I saw a number of good reviews and thought maybe it has gotten better. It hasn't, I think it this is really bad, out of the can food, in a dingy place.

Wow, where do I start. I was basically raised in this little tex mex joint. My parents say they took me there in a stroller when I was a baby and they ate there the very first day it opened. The owners know my dad and now the business has been passed down to their sons so the food is still exactly the way I remember it when I was little. Whenever I am in town, I always go to Taco City. The place is small and dark but soo much fun. You order at a counter and they yell your name when your order comes up. My favorite thing here is the nachos. They are better than any nachoes I will ever expect to have in my life. The chips are thin and freshly cooked and the cheese is not normal cheese. Idk what's in it but it's good! They also come piled high with sour cream, olives, guac..all the good stuff. Everything on the menu is good. I usually split and enchilada with someone. They are used to splitting plates because the portions are huge and no one can eat them along. They also have beer on tap and TVs for watching games at the bar. Their chips and salsa are great. Ask for the hot salsa! IT's hot!!! I love it! Taco City, I miss you!

Food is great. The tacos and the Chings are awesome. Nothing fancy and pretty plain but something about the food keeps me going back. The restaurant itself is kind of rundown and the staff is a little rough around the edges but definitely good food. They aren't open on Sunday which sucks cause it seems to be the day I usually would eat there.

Greasy, sloppily assembled Mexican food. Whats with the marinara sauce being sold as salsa? Tacos were flavor less and so were the burritos. The burrito wasn't even properly wrapped, all contents fell out. Even worse the burrito only had ground meat and a tortilla. No cilantro, no onions, no rice, no flavor. Tourists beware!

I recently met my girlfriends here for dinner and we were all really disappointed. We used to eat here all the time in highschool and we were looking forward to revisiting our old "post beach day" haunt. I don't know if it's gone downhill in recent years, or if we've just gotten used to eating better Tex-Mex food. For starters, the salsa tasted like pizza sauce- you couldn't taste any peppers, onions, or "heat" of any kind. The guacamole I ordered was ridiculously overpriced and it seemed to have hardly any avocado in it. It was white and runny instead of green and chunky! The beef in our entrees was greasy and the beans and rice weren't anything special. The staff is great and the beer is cold and cheap so the night wasn't a total loss. The time next we're in Cocoa Beach and craving Mexican food, I think we'll make it ourselves.

Went to taco city after a long day of surfing in cocoa beach Florida. The place is 5 stars if you consider your options in cocoa. We ordered to go to have on the beach. The beef nachos were alright but the chicken enchilada ..... The enchilada!!! Best enchilada I've had in a while. Def recommend it.. The decor is alright and the service is cool

Taco City has always been a favorite place of ours, but we moved further north so we don't get there as often now. Today was our 3rd time being there since the new owners have taken over. It was a true disappointment. I have always loved their salsa. I literally would go thru 4 of the cups...for my chips and all over my food. The new owners have changed the recipe and for me its just horrible. Very chunky and lacking of taste. The dr death was equally as bad per my husband. I asked if there was any of the old salsa and was given a sample of their "wimpy" salsa....the most disgusting taste I have ever had. My meal was as good as in the past, but my husbands chicken enchillada was very dry with very little sauce on or on the side of it. The new owners have also changed the hot C dip to a white cheddar. It was not tasty at all either. We were able to get a sample of the old hot C but the color was different and did not taste the same. Since it now takes us over 45 mins to get there, we will not be returning. It was always such a treat to go there, but we'll stick to better places where we live now.

Dude, grab the 'chings' and a brewski and you're set. Also try the shredded beef and don't forget the 'special hot sauce' with the chips (they keep it behind the counter). Taco City is the best place to eat in South Cocoa Beach - a gem amongst rising condos and the only real place to eat down there. Its just off the beach, which makes it easy to stumble home after you're stuffed and had a few. Everyone that works here is great - this is the epitome of Classic Cocoa Beach...

The best enchiladas on the Eastern Seaboard. Definitely one of Cocoa Beach's best kept secrets--tourists don't make their way down here too often.

  • Trojan B.

chill beachtown atmosphere...laidback and friendly servers / bartenders...chips are fresh, but the salsa's pretty weak (like a cross between sweet ketchup and marinara sauce)...enchiladas are a tasty, cheesy mess that blend into decent refried beans and spanish rice...basic menu with limited selection...enjoyable dining experience, but doesn't really stand out as a place i'd go back to.

  • Liana H.

The parking was limited and there was a long line to order. However, the atmosphere was cool and laid back. The food was kinda pricy but it tasted pretty decent. In short, I was full when I left which is what I needed after a long day at the beach. Would I come back? Probably.

I really wanted to like Taco City. Mexican is one of my favorite food groups. The poor execution of Mexican food at this establishment is insultingly bad. The positive : Chips and Salsa on the table. Ok The negatives: They do not have a liquor license but serve Margaritas. This means the margaritas are made of white wine and some kind of crystal light tasting mixture. This is not evident until you order this gross concoction. The food was ill prepared and gross - all of it. Melting a bunch of cheese on a dish does not make up for poorly prepped ingredients and bad cooking. It felt like the Chef wanted some time off so he asked his son to take of the restaurant while he was away. And this was a son who didn't care about cooking. The Chili relleno was gross The Chingas were prepared okay but the chicken inside of them felt like it had been insufficiently drained. Watery chicken under a bunch of melted cheese. So gross. First time tourists must keep this place in business as I will never return.

First visit and likely the very last. Chips were stale, taco meat partially burnt, and the rice was not fully cooked (seriously.....like eating raw rice). Worst meal we've had so far in Florida.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
