This is a small, out of the way restaurant which is fairly high on the TripAdvisor list. I also heard a good recommendation from a local resident. So, we decided to try it on a Tuesday night. It is quite small, with a total of 50 seats. Having just eaten at Big Kahuna a few nights before, we had a good comparison. My wife had the muscles appetizer and I had blackened red fish, one of the fresh fish specials. Both were excellent. My wife has had muscles all over the world and these were some of the best. The appetizer portion, with some bread on the side, was more than enough for a very complete dinner. The blackened red fish was lightly blackened (not so heavy as sometimes with blackened fish) soft and flakey inside and served very hot. Green beans and a very good Chinese brown rice came with the fish. A great balance of tastes. Compared to Big Kahuna, the presentation was not nearly as over the top. Very simple in fact. But in our mind, Pompano grill had the top rated taste of the two. And a bonus, you do not need to make a reservation days in advance. Highly recommended.

Though the location is very small, the food is very big. There were generous portions and even a visit from the owner. Service began with a variety of breads and butter. We had the Salmon Kabobs to start which was cooked perfectly. We also had Grouper Almandine and Shrimp Alfredo Fettuccine. The Alfredo sauce was very thick but the portion was generous. Though the Grouper was thick, it was cooked perfectly. We plan to return for one of the homemade desserts.

We visited Pompano Grill on a Friday night for a birthday celebration with a party of ten. We made reservations in advance (which I would recommend because it is small). We had an assortment of appetizers which were all perfectly prepared and very popular. ALL of them were devoured. The specials were announced by our server Erica (who was excellent) and we proceeded to order...some in our party ordered from the menu..others from the specials. No matter...it was all fantastic. The biggest attraction of this place is the freshness of all the fish on the menu as well as the fact that it is almost 100% locally caught. Everybody in our party was extremely pleased with their meals. We ordered a few bottles of wine before dinner and it was a good match and a good value. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely return. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Having dined recently at an overpriced, overrated seafood chain (Hint: Chart House), I'd say there is NO COMPARISON. I'd take the Pompano Grill any day of the week even though I live much closer to the Chart House. The biggest surprise about the Pompano Grill is that it has been in Cocoa Beach since 1999 and has managed to stay under the radar. I didn't discover it until this fall and I've been in Brevard for 30 years.

Wonderfully warm, welcoming environment and staff. Just Beer and Wine as alcohol choices. Apps a bit of a disappointment. Coconut shrimp could have been more done, and escargot needs bread as accompaniment. Veal piccata needed more lemon, but perfectly prepared. The snapper was perfect but the rice was prepared with a curry season which was not congruent. However... I've all, a local favorite, great family owned establishment where generations meet and greet... Still a hit! I would recommend to anyone stopping by Cocoa Beach.

Consistently one of our favorite places to go for seafood. Nice quiet small location. The popularity has increased so you need to make a reservation waitstaff is super nice and the food is always fresh and very good

Quaint, cozy and perfect. Pompano Grill is a solid 5 star establishment that stands out among the plethora of loud, casual bar-type restaurants in Cocoa. Tip: Definitely call ahead for a reservation, it is a small intimate dining room that almost everyone has to have reservations for. It is well worth it. Our server, I think her name was Allison, went above and beyond to explain to us the fresh selections of fish and appetizers. Get the blackened shrimp appetizer - it is outstanding! Any of their fish selections, rather any of the entrees are a good choice, you really can't go wrong here. It was a very quiet and pleasant dining experience. Not to mention, our server made us a list of a bunch of restaurants and places to go that aren't as touristy and are off the beaten path. Next time we visit we will return for dinner, and also check out the bioluminescence kayak trip in Titusville. Thanks again!!

I have no idea what has happened to this place since the previous owner sold it but the food is not quality food. It's like leftovers warmed up. Fish over-cooked, potatoes like clay. Yuk! The salad was the only decent item and it was skimpy. We paid over $100.00 to eat here. For this kind of money I expect edible food at the very least. Worst dining experience in the Cocoa Beach area. Never again.

My husband and I went for dinner on my birthday last night after having dined here for more than a few times in the last year - all I can say is it will be at least a year before we return. I am a big fan of fresh grouper and usually order it chargrilled, this rock hard dry chunk of fish presented was anything but appetizing, frozen fish for sure because it was like rubber, and the single offering of green beans as the ONLY vegetable was equally unacceptable, so I elected the curry rice and there too this dish was dry and had no taste. The only good food that we enjoyed was the Caesar salad. Please get someone who knows how to cook and maybe an owner who can deliver something more than just lip service when it comes to diners satisfaction.

Do I need to say anything more than awesome? A little pricey but the great food and staff make it worth it. I would like to see dessert included in the price, or even a glass of wine. I think that would make a nice touch.

My party of 10 and I wanted to try out Fat Kahuna but were turned away because our party was too large. The server suggested we try this place instead. I was surprised to see it was located in a crappy little strip mall. The smell of the place was very strong - not like a seafood restaurant smell - but just smelly in general. The place was nearly empty and the host acted as though he wasn't sure he could accommodate our large party. It was strange. I have no idea why the server from Fat Kahuna recommended this place. It's not burgers and sea fare - it was overly priced pasta and fish. Expect to pay at least $20 an entree and an $8 up charge if you want to share something. I had the grouper and while it was good, it was certainly nothing spectacular. Why the high price tag? Even for a pasta dish sans protein? I just don't get it. I'm all for supporting a mom and pop joint but not in a place like this where the prices are so high. There are no free refills either. $2 a soda because they get it from a can. I don't recommend this place at all. Find somewhere else.

Pompano exceeded our expectations! We arriv early, and without a reservation. We were very lucky to get seated. The twelve tables were mostly full before we finished our salads. The charteuterie board and eggplant with mozzarella appetizers were both wonderful and ample. I enjoyed the seafood crepe with black rice and Brussel sprouts. My wife had the clam pasta. The ingredients were very fresh, flavorful, attractively presented, and the portions were generous. We had no room for dessert, and our leftovers will be enough for lunch tomorrow. Prices were moderate. $65 for a great meal. Pompano Grill is a great spot for a truly special dinner. Be sure to call for a reservation!

Wow. Don't judge a book by its cover, or more specifically a restaraunt by its exterior. I was so surprised. The food was excellent. So fresh. I ordered the Shrimp Scallop Kabobs. They were to die for. The two dipping sauces that accompanied the dish were very tasty. I also loved the black rice. Would come again.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Pompano Grill. The salads were fresh, wait staff friendly and helpful, and the menu offered a variety of entrees. My favorite part of the meal was the raisin nut bread prior to the meal. Since Pompano is open only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, reservations are a must. Parking is difficult.

We were on vacation and decided to check it out! Make reservations as this is a very small place :) At the beginning we were a little off put with our waiter, Mike. He was very curt and his first words to us were "can I get you a bottle of wine" no hello, intro, nothing....being our first time here....a little strange? We then decided to "kill him with kindness" and it worked.....by the time the apps came he was engaged and helpful....but one should never have to work for good attention! ~ CHARCUTERIE BOARD....It was an app special and very good....unfortunately we asked for a loaf of bread to go with it and it did not come out until we were eating our dinners...and with that it was 4 small pieces....it was the end of the night and were told they "could" make us more but it would take a little bit....seeing as though we already had our dinners it did not seem necessary....but would have been nice to have the fresh bread available at the beginning like everyone around us and on top the bread was AMAZING so more would have been welcoming :) ~ ESCARGOT....Escargot, sauteed in a brandy cream sauce, with leeks & capers (it was VERY different than any other Escargot we have ever eaten....but in a very good way....Delicious!!) ~ SHRIMP & GRITS.....Our spicy blackened shrimp, served over white cheddar grits with a drizzle of red eye gravy (probably one of the best shrimp and grits I have ever ordered!) We saw the chef walking around a bit but did not get a chance to talk to him. His food will definitely bring us back but the "finishing touches" need to be worked on with the price point of the food. If just focused on the food alone....5 stars for sure!

This is a hole in the wall TREASURE!!!! I can be very critical of food. I can usually always find one or two critiques of a dish.. more/less salt, more acid, over/under cooked, etc. This restaurant really was impressive. Started out with the breaded eggplant with yellow heirloom tomato, arugula, topped with burrata. DELICIOUS. Clean, crisp flavor. We also had the mussels as an appetizer. Mussels were in a delicate broth of tomatoes and shallots, lots of garlic too. Incredible! The chef really knew how to let the mussel be the star of the dish; as it should be. Then... to top this off... I ate on of the top 5 dishes of my culinary escapades; the clams with capellini pasta. I could not speak more highly of this dish. From the perfectly cooked clams, to the beautiful broth, to the pasta cooked to perfection, with a garnish of grilled lemon. FABULOUS!!!!!!! The service at Pompano Grill was also phenomenal. Jackie, the owner, and her staff gave us an experience we will not soon forget. Do not hesitate, do not look any further in Cocoa. Head to this gem in the rough now!

When you walk in, you notice immediately how small and quaint the restaurant is. The seafood is fresh and never frozen. We had a large party hand was able to be seated even though they preferred reservations (the place was empty). I had the coconut shrimp and it tasted fresh but couldn't taste the actual coconut. I also found the prices to be on the very high end. Overall I wasn't too thrilled with the restaurant and I won't be returning unfortunately.

A winner!! Make sure to call in reservations, they get busy and fill quickly. The restaurant is clean and service friendly and attentive. Make sure to mind your Cellphone and text etiquette. I had the fresh caught pompano almondine, mixed grilled veggies with cumin and spices. Fresh baked bread, fresh salad and homemade butterfingers ice-cream. My colleague had the grilled salmon. The fish was all cooked to perfection. Moist and perfect!! Worth the drive from Melbourne beach!

My wife and I ate here after waiting for a special occasion and the place didn't disappoint. My wife had the scallops while I had their fish. Both were great. Staff was friendly and attentive, the whole experience was fantastic.

A small restaurant with a big heart! Pompano Grill's location on something of a small strip mall and somewhat dated interior (though I loved the chairs and mismatched plates!) is, well, 'worrying' isn't the right word - it wasn't that bad - but I was starting to wonder if my fellow Yelp-ers had let me down. However, as soon as we were greeted and sat all of that disappeared. Our waitress, Liz, who I believe is also the owner of the place - or maybe co-owner - was immediately accommodating of my peanut allergy (there's a Thai peanut sauce on the menu). While I try not to make a big deal of it ever since I don't want to seem like an ass or a pain, she insisted I was neither. There was a list of fish that were caught fresh just that day and I opted for the wahoo served almondine and I was not disappointed. I'd never had wahoo before and decided to try it on a whim (come on, it's called 'wahoo') - it was delicious. You could taste how fresh the fish was and it was prepared perfectly. My only complaint with the meal was that it was served with grilled vegetables and fettucini alfredo. The fettucini was good, but I like to eat fish because it's filling, but light - fettucini alfredo is really heavy and the opposite of the fish I was eating. As 10 o'clock rolled around we were one of the last two tables in the restaurant and were discussing the Space Shuttle launches (the reason I was down in Florida) with Liz. She mentioned her fear that once they stopped flying them later this year, the business in the area would dry up. According to her, Cocoa Beach was a ghost town after the Challenger tragedy and she's afraid it will be again. It would truly be a shame if Pompano Grill had to close down. Liz, I don't know if you read the reviews on this site, but as I mentioned to you, I truly wish I could come back more often, but sadly Pennsylvania is really far away. Best wishes to you and your restaurant!

I read the other reviews before going here and was very much anticipating trying this place. The place is quaint for sure, so a reservation is definitely required. The service and the food were both very good and well deserving of the reputation it's received from most reviewers as well as from the regular customers. I had the blackened swordfish, which I would highly recommend.

Had the sea scallops and they were delicious!! They come with a chimmichurry (sp?) that makes the dish taste amazing!! The rest of the people in our party also enjoyed their meal as well. It is off the beaten path, but definitely worth finding!

Fish lovers rejoice Pompano grill is an excellent choice for upscale casual dining particularly if you love fish. For a restaurant named after a fish Pompano grill has a surprisingly large number of choices for diners who want something other than seafood. Their menu states that they are a French Continental and Northern Italian restaurant. The besides sea food entrees their menu had numerous steak and chicken dishes and traditional Italian favorites like Eggplant Parmigiana For fish lovers the choices were very impressive. On the menu was salmon, grouper, and mahi mahi and the catch of the day. On Saturday June 20, 2009, catch of the day was a choice of Pompano, Wahoo, Tripletail, Cobia which is a surprisingly large assortment sport fish that one rarely sees of general restaurant menus or grocery stores. I figured that if they named the restaurant after the Pompano fish, their Pompano should be one of their stronger dishes, so I ordered the Pompano. Preparation choices for the Pompano included grilled, blackened, and pan sautéed almondine. The talented and attentive waitress recommended the almondine and it did not disappoint. All of the entrees at Pompano Grill come with salad and bread. The default salad is an authentic Caesar, with a very fresh dressing that like any real deal Cesar dressing has a hint of anchovies. I thought their Cesar dressing was fantastic but my spouse (who is not fan of anchovies) found the hint of anchovies was not subtle enough. Next time we go I trust she will have the ranch instead. Apart from the dressing was fresh crisp dark romaine lettuce, multi-color croutons, and optional parmesan brought by a server. Pompano grill serves a pretty standard French bread served room temperature (not warmed) with butter (also served room temperature for easy spreading). The Pompano arrived hot from the pan and accompanies by assorted vegetables, (squash, roasted potato slices, and carrots if I recall correctly), and two slices of kiwi. The portion size was ample, two medium size pieces, enough for an adult to leave full, and appropriate given the moderate price of $22.50. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. The almondine preparation had little more oil/butter than I was expecting but it was not swimming in butter. For the calorie conscious grilled would be better call. Everything on the plate was a hit and the kiwi slices were a nice touch of color and warm-up for desert. My spouse had the apple chicken. This dish consisted of slices of chicken breast, layered with slices of cooked apple. I was expecting the chicken to be sweet or not have any spices to make the dish completely sweet. The chicken had hits of pepper and other seasonings making the dish sweet and mildly spicy. I liked this dish but not as much as the fish. Accompanying the chicken and apples was a side of linguine in a light cream sauce, a side of vegetables, and two slices of kiwi made a repeat appearance. For desert the choices were Key Lime pie, Carrot Cake, and home made mango ice cream. I ordered the Key Lime, my spouse ordered the carrot cake and the waitress brought a small complementary serving of mango ice cream for our toddler son. The key lime was appropriately tart and yellow (Key Lime juice is NOT green and a green key lime pie is a tragic misuse of food color). The pie was topped with a dollop of fresh whipped cream. The crust was standard graham cracker. If you like key lime pie, this one will not wow you but it will not disappoint. The carrot cake was less dense than what I am accustomed to but made for a light summer desert. There was quite a bit on pineapple in the cake, cream cheese frosting, and some whipped cream. What I liked best is the that cake was not overly sweet, which made the carrot, pineapple and cream cheese flavors distinct. This was another very good desert. Each of the deserts was $5.00 a solid value for this quality range. The mango ice cream was light, and white, with large chucks of mango and good mango flavor. The ice cream was not to rich and not to sweet, a cool excellent end to a summer meal. The décor of Pompano Grill is traditional Florida casual with mounted fish on several of the walls and assorted animal figurines and other knickknacks. The décor is not contemporary but it works with the casual Florida seafood style. Pompano Grill is not a very large restaurant, I would guess they have 15 to 20 tables. On a Saturday evening we saw one or two would be diners turn away because they lacked reservations and did not wish to wait. If you plan to dine here on a Friday or Saturday night, a reservation is highly recommended. At many seafood restaurants non-fish dishes are an after thought comprising of one or two dishes of steak, chicken, and pasta. Pomapano grill will delight fish lovers while offering the fish phobic a large assortment of well prepared dining choices.

We have been going to Pompano Grill for years and have never been disappointed. Fish is as fresh as you can get. Recently, there have been some management changes and the fish is still awesome but also there has been an improvement on the vegetable sides. As mentioned, this is a small, local establishment so you really need to make reservations if possible.

Really enjoyed dinner here last night . Lots of unusual menu choices. My fish entree was the best I've had in a long time. Incredibly fresh tasting. Also great appetizer and dessert choices.. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all a fabulous dining experience. Highly recommend.

My favorite for fresh fish when in Cocoa Beach. Always 3 or 4 fresh fish types on the menu. Reasonably priced and typically very good friendly service.

My seafood crepes were a disappointment. One crepe was burned black! Can't figure why they would fill a burned crepe---throw it out and make a new one. Crepes are easy to make. Wahoo was good but there was no explanation of the various sauces and their intended use that were on the plate. Left us rather disinterested. Restaurant story is lovely but they don't seem to care about their history.

Pompano Grill was definitely our favorite restaurant during our visit to Cocoa Beach last week. My husband had the Pompano Almondine and I had Chicken Cordon Bleu. Both were delicious! The highlight of my meal, however, was the homemade Banana Walnut Cake!! I had not had this wonderful flavor cake since my mom made it for me as a child, and I was transported back to the happy memory of sitting in Mamma's kitchen with a big slice of her homemade banana cake. I was in heaven. The service was great, too!

Phenomenal! This restaurant was a random find thanks to the wonderful reviews on Yelp. After gaining a quick reservation, our small party of three was seated into the dark and cozy atmosphere. We each ordered and got our food in due time, appeased by a range of bread slices and ice water. When the blackened triple tail, scallops, and three cheese tortellini was delivered, no one hesitated to dive right in. The food was amazing! We each tried a bit of each others orders and we were in awe of how beautifully everything was cooked. Please visit for a wonderful dining experience!!!!!

The food is incredibly good, the price of the food is on par with how delicious it is. The cons are that the service seemed a little understaffed and the tables were a little small. The place was pretty packed when I went so it was a little noisy, but the food was unbelievably good.

Party of four with mixed reviews. This was most of ours second try-out at this place. The service was good and everyone quite pleasant. It was not an extremely busy night and there were some empty tables but the noise level was extremely loud in that small place. Nothing like having to shout to the person next to you or having to lip read the servers specials of the day. This place is known for its fish but I was disappointed that my grilled Grouper was dry overcooked. The Pasta Carbonara was, frankly, not very good. It was too oily and had more onions than necessary. No one took left overs home. The vegetables, breads , salads and calamari were good. Not sure we would go back again or not.

After reading the glowing reviews, we decided to stop in and give Pompano Grill a try. We were in line behind two couples who were seating almost immediately. As soon as we came up to be seated the hostess dissappered into the back for almost 20 minutes. My wife and I were standing there and another couple arrived and waited 10 minutes before they left in disgust. About 5 minutes after the other couple departed, the hostess returned and asked us if we had reservations. When we replied that we didn't, her reply was "sorry, we can't help you". I don't care how good the food is, I can get better service at McDonald's.

Can't go wrong here. Came here last night after reading other reviews. Great variety of menu items. Both my girlfriend and I choose pasta dishes which we are very picky about. She ordered the capellini with alfredo sauce and assorted veggies. I ordered the capellini with pesto and added shrimp. Both were very yummy and very filling. Service was great and so was the bread which as assorted and very warm. Definitely a go back to when we return to Cocoa Beach.

Single biggest turn around of a dining experience in history. What started as an embarrassing, miserable and infuriating evening ended up being a very pleasurable dinner. I had invited several friends to join me because of my wonderful dining experiences of the past. When we arrived on time per reservations, the table was not ready and one server was working the dining room. twenty minutes passed and no drink order. 45 minutes and no food order, I was so embarrassed because all I had raved about, was starting to look made up ( I have a reputation for picking great restaurants). FINALLY, the manager (i assume) entered the restaurant (she had tried to take the night off to be with family) and took complete control. She had several complimentary appetizers brought out quickly to soothe the irritation. Next she got the food orders in and out in a hurry,( and the quality was as I had promoted) all the while drink glasses never got shallow. I know I have thus far focused on service, but I ordered the scallops in cream sauce, which came cooked to perfection. Usually I order the catch of the day almondine style, which is always perfect.. The highlight of every trip to Pompano Grill for me, is the desert. I rarely eat desert when I go out but I made the exception once for their carrot cake, and now it is a traditional indulgence of every trip to PG. It is so moist, it is like carrot cake pudding. I do not know who the manager is at Pompano Grill, but I will find out next time I am in town. She is one of the most effective people I have ever been around, and would vote for her for president.

I went here on the night that turned out to be the chef's birthday, and I was treated to become part of the birthday party with all his family and friends. There was guitar playing and singing, and they even shared the birthday cake with me and my family. Really great people, and wonderful food. I will be back!

Whenever we are in Cocoa Beach, my wife and I make reservations for Pompano Grill. We simply love it. We have "never" been disappointed which is amazing because we've been going there for years. You can spend less on a meal in the area but I see no need whatsoever to spend more.
