I've been here a few times & had never tried the steak... HOLY SMOKES! I think because they cut them right there makes a HUGE difference in the way the steak cooks & turns out! EXCELLENT Filet Mignon...

It's a drive (twenty seven miles one way) we've made for about twenty plus years and probably the last. I bid them a farewell. The servers (and the hostess) are out of control- they are arrogant, cocky, and complain to each other constantly. The guests hear them talk about issues with other guests that are sitting a table or two away and this is not okay. The salads "are what they are" as one server said. "The salad is just a simple salad before your meal and if you don't want it tell me and I won't bring it out. gheeeee" The steaks are suffering- charred beyond recognition and way beyond being eatable on one corner and nearly raw on the flip side. The horrible flavor of char to this degree is not pleasant- the char is so bad any meat in its path disintegrates on to the plate. Even the bread they are serving usually goes back to the kitchen....it smells and tastes stale. GOOD BY. I'm give it a one-star because you have to give it something; my star is merely because I enjoyed the drive over there.

Anyone staying away because of the negative reviews is MISSING OUT!! The original owner has taken over, remodeled and launched a very inviting place to eat some good Prime Rib. My husband and I had wanted to try the Rusty Fox since moving here a year ago, but because of the mixed reviews, we stayed away. Our loss. The food was really good. We had the fried calamari for an appetizer and it rocked. Cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed the marinara it came with for dipping, I would have preferred something with a bit more kick. The house salad and blue cheese dressing (home made) was fresh and enjoyable and the soup, Tomato Eggplant (also home made), was off the chart with taste. Only complaint, it could have been a bit hotter. We both ordered the Prime Rib dinner special which was cooked very nice and was so tender and flavorful . It is served with your choice of sides. YUMMY! Hard to impress me with bread but the bread was warm, tasted home-baked and enjoyable. We both enjoyed the "happy hour" special of two for one on our drinks. The house Chard was very nice and it was a full glass. Don't see that too often. We plan a return visit as there are some good sounding meals offered and reasonable prices. Let's not forget the staff. Very attentive, informative and friendly. I'm raising my glass to tasteful atmosphere, YUM food and very nice staff.

We've been to the Rusty Fox twice. The first time I had the shrimp and grits. The best shrimp I have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, even when the leftovers were reheated the next day. (There were a lot of shrimp!) the grits were stoneground and cooked perfectly, as well. Good grits are a rare occurrence in a restaurant. The second visit I had the scallops. Amazing. The seafood cook at the RF is spot on. Now for the reasons why there are no more than three stars. Prime rib: the first time my husband had it, it was excellent. Second time, not so much. Salad: this sounds really picky, but the first time the croutons on the caesar salad HAD to be Pepperidge Farm dressing chunks. Then the second time they were stale chunks of bread that looked very much like the nasty pretzel roll things they served. How hard is it to make or buy decent croutons?

I took 25 people from my golf league to the Rusty Fox restaurant on a busy Friday night and you just wouldn't believe what a wonderful experience it was for ALL 25 of us. The food was exceptional and the service was incredible. Our tables were all set and ready for us and our server was immediately there to take drink orders. I had the most beautiful piece of prime rib, ordered medium rare and received medium rare and the clam chowder was rich and tasty. My husband had the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. Several people had the special for the evening, the sauteed red snapper and loved it. The food was served promptly, it was hot and when the bills were presented in a timely fashion they were accurate! Everyone raved about how great the Rusty Fox was and promised a quick return. I was a little hesitant to try this place after seeing a few negative reviews on another site, but I thought I may as well try it once and form my own opinion. I wanted to go for the $11 special on Sunday where you get a nice-sized slab of prime rib, a side, and soup or salad. The waitress, Barbara, suggested we try their homemade soup. We were really glad that we did; the creamy tomato was amazing! After that, we were brought some bread. I'm not sure if it were homemade or not. It wasn't bad, but nothing special. Then the main course came. The meat was so tender that my husband commented that he thought he could probably cut it with his fork. Also, our iced tea actually tasted like tea. I get tired of places that say they're giving you tea when it just tastes like tap water with a slight hint of tea. The tea at this place was actually good & strong like we like it. The owner came over & chatted with us a little and told us that they just got their restaurant back a year ago from a woman who had it 9 years and nearly ran it out of business. Now they're trying to get all of their old patrons back. Hopefully the good review will aid them in doing that. We will definitely be back, because you get a good meal for a good price!

The Rusty Fox has the best Filet Mignon in the Orlando area. They also have the best Cream of Mushroom soup I have ever tasted. I would definetly try this restaurant.

Came here after going hang gliding in the area. This place isn't the fanciest or the best steakhouse I've been to, but it definitely deserves 5 STARS! The service is amazing, every is so attentive and friendly. I ordered the Prime Rib and a french onion soup. My GF got the Rib-eye and we shared the calamari. Everything was very well cooked and flavorful. The portions and quality of the food is above and beyond the price tag they put on it. If I am ever around the area again, I will definitely stop in.

I wasn't impressed at all after the first few minutes. The booth seat had food particles all over it that I had to wipe off before I sat and the hostess and servers seemed too casual and very discombobulated, talking out loud about who'd be serving our table. Service was also pretty slow and it was for these reasons that I wasn't able to give 4 stars. We started with the fried pickles and they were delicious...perfect amount of crispness. I ordered the prime rib which came chicken noodle soup and steak fries (other sides and option of salad instead of soup available of course). My wife got the shrimp and chorizo with grits with French onion soup. Their soups were delicious and the house bread was so fluffy and buttery good. My prime rib had some slight texture issues but the au jus gave it really good flavor. I tried a bite of the shrimp and grits but it was very saucy and thinned out and neither of us cared for it very much. Overall, they were just a few missteps away from being a solid 4 stars. I'd recommend giving them a try.

Prime rib was perfectly cooked with a side of creamed spinach. Shrimp and scallops over risotto with very good.

I'm giving 4 stars based on our server April! She was so nice and accommodating! She knew all the answers to our question regarding the menu and The food was good, but I have been coming here for 15 years solely for the fried cheesecake..... It's literally the best dessert I've ever had! Once in a while it will be cold in the middle but over all it's amaZing!

The Rusty Fox has been a standard for good food and drink since I've lived in Clermont. Their burgers rate pretty great and I will give this place the gold star for the best prime rib I've ever eaten in my life. Most all of the the time it's very very good. The bar and waitstaff are really friendly and you can count on striking up a friendly conversation with any regular patrons enjoying their dinner and drinks. The happy hour is a bonus for the Rusty Fox on top of the already moderate prices for entrees. It's not the place for music entertainment but rather a nice clean comfortable place to relax and have a good hot meal that hits the spot.

Nice little local place. After reading the other reviews, we went for the prime rib special. Exactly as described. Good meal for the price. We got the 2-for-1 house wine special and I opted for the soup (which was the right call since my guest got the salad). Service was speedy and friendly; we were in and out in an hour. Only down side was that the ambience seemed a little drab and a few key details felt cheap such as the paper napkins, thin silverware, and the cheap plastic salad bowls. But set your bar accordingly and it will be a nice little visit.

Nice quiet atmosphere. The drinks were great. The soup was really delicious. Had prime rib and porkchops and they were out of this world. Would recommend this place and will return.

Pretty good food and reasonable prices...mostly local regulars since this place is a little off the beaten path. Steak is your best choice.

Excellent food and service! When we arrived it was packed so service was a little bogged down, but the food was well worth the wait. We didn't mind because we were here to spend time together and everyone was pleasant. The steaks were cooked perfectly and homemade soups tasty. The Rusty Fox is our new "go to" spot!
