Great family owned Italian restaurant. Try the veal parmesan or the chicken sassi. They also have great specials and are always open to any special requests. Service can be somewhat slow and be prepared to wait evenings and especially on the weekends. Tell Adriano, Tim and Pelagrino I said hello!

Everything (calamari, soup, salad, eggplant rollantini, mussels and lasagna were really good. Our server (Pelligrini) was excellent!!! On the spot with everything including keeping up with our drinks - which is not an easy thing.

Calabria is a neighborhood family Italian restaurant with a lot of local diners. The chefs seem to be from the old country and it is certainly reflected in their delicious cooking. The menu is full of Italian favorites. I just love their Veal Piccata and is usually what I order whenever I visit this restaurant. This visit was no different. The veal is always extremely tender but their secret seems to be in the sauce. The sauce is almost like a light lemon flavored gravy sprinkled with capers. It is wonderful. Their salads are fresh and their soups homemade. This is one restaurant that never seems to disappoint. Calabria definitely is one of my all time favorites and I try to return anytime I am in the Orlando area. It is easy to find. It is located in a Publix shopping center on SR 50 just a little west of the Florida turnpike.

This place easily deserves no stars, but yelpers: you know the drill. I have had pizza here several times and it was pretty good. But wow- I am COMPLETELY ASTONISHED that this place had so many rave reviews about their actual meals. I mean truly dumbfounded- as if I am being punked. I just spent $50 on a to-go order of chicken piccata, shrimp scampi, and an order of calamari. The piccata had 2 decent pieces of chicken, but was accompanied by a very bland, soupy 1/2 cup of pasta (that may be giving it a generous estimation). The scampi fared only slightly better, skimpy but not nearly as pathetic as the piccata- still bland and not worth the money at all. The calamari was (surprise!) bland, dried-out, and fishy. Their dinners don't come with garlic rolls, but rather 2 pieces of bread tossed in the plastic bag- no container- that wilted and dampened as a result of the steam. No second chances here. I can't begin to understand how they stay in business, especially if this experience is the norm.

This is the best pizza I have had since moving to the orlando area. I myself am a native New Yorker and from Brooklyn at that! I know what good pizza tastes like! Only sad thing is that they do not deliver. I work a few blocks from here and we frequent this place often. The true test was when I brought my brother and his family to eat here. He is pretty particular about his pizza. He described it as "pretty official." That is the highest of compliments for him! Let's just say we will be coming back here for years to come.

We tried this place for the first time yesterday for lunch. We typically aren't super crazy about NY-style pizza because we like thicker crust and more sauce. Despite that, we were pleased with what we got. You can tell the pizza is homemade with fresh ingredients, and we asked for extra sauce on it as well. What they call meatballs on the pizza we didn't recognize as such, because to us, meat + ball means it's a round glob of cooked meat. These are slices that the waitress pointed out to us so that we'd recognize them. The downside is that they don't have freshly-brewed tea, so if you're not a soda drinker like us, there aren't many options. I hope their entrees are as good as their pizza since we intend to come back.

I'm rather hard to please when it comes to pizza, so when I say I LOVE this place, it comes with a bit of weight. I've never had better pizza in FL, and the fact that they have Peroni on tap makes this place one of my favorites!

This place is simply the best. Whether you're grabbing a pizza on the way home, or wanting to take your family out for quality Italian, or you're just looking to grab a beer - the best. Best ingredients. Best food. Best atmosphere. Best people. (Also, try the penne alla vodka. You won't regret it.)

Hubby & I moved here from S FL almost 3 mos. ago. Our neighbors (ex-NYers like ourselves) recommended this restaurant. A couple of other Italian restaurants in the area were ok; but still not what we were used to (some people refer to S FL as Southern NY lol). We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms. One bite & I said OMG this is amazing! We both agreed it was even better than the pizza we were used to - & we lived in S FL for 30 yrs. We'll be back to try their entrees. We cannot wait!!

I was in and out of this place, once for fried cheese sticks and wings and once for some pizza. Both times I got takeout and did not dine in. I had fair service, but again I didn't dine in so I'm not expecting a lot. Cheese sticks: Fair. Very run of the mill, nothing special about them. I wouldn't order them again. Wings: Good wings. I ordered them extra hot and they weren't particularly spicy, but they were cooked well and were meaty without being weird godzilla mutant chicken size. Pizza: So, I have a love-hate relationship with the pizza. I ordered a large garlic, pepperoni and jalapeno pizza. It's super floppy pizza so you need two hands to eat a slice. It was freaking delicious, but it did not make my stomach happy and I spent a couple days on the toilet after eating half the thing. I might gamble and try it one more time just to see if that's what really made me sick, but it tasted awesome, significantly better than chain pizza.

We went to this place on two occasions. One time I had pizza. It was amazing. I'm from jersey and let me tell you it was close. Unfortunately the second time my wife had some bad clams. Oh Jesus she was sick all night. Never been back.

Well that didn't go so well! We were craving some Italian tonight and not just pizza. I have a friend who loves this place for pizza but I'm not sure if she's had anything else. I've had their pizza many years ago and it was good but I had never had anything else either. Well, until tonight. We ordered brushetta as a starter. It was bland. No zing. No zest. Just bland. It needed some vinegar at a minimum. And we hoped that wasn't a sign of things to come. But it was. It may just be me but when you get the house Italian in an Italian restaurant it should be good and tasty. Nope. Bland and oily. Strike 2. So the meals came. I had the Lobster Ravioli which was a special of the night. Was there lobster in there? Couldn't tell by taste or texture in this premade striped ravoili. The vodka sauce was all that you could taste. It wasn't bad. Don't get me wrong. Just not good and not worth it. Chef had asked for a pepper, sausage and onion dish with a different sauce. The first response was that they couldn't do that but then realized they could. I'm guessing that she wished she would have ordered something else because she left more than half of it there. The kid ordered the calamari. Again, no taste at all and we all tried it. It was as if they dipped it in plain flour. Very bland. No spices at all. Refills weren't readily available. No bread for our table even though we saw another table get bread while we were finishing up. Don't expect a salad fork and a dinner fork because that didn't happen either. The waiter saw that we were done and tried to come over with 2 to-go boxes. When we said we didn't want them he didn't even ask why. We never were even asked how anything was or how anything tasted. Not once. You can also expect to listen to the news playing loudly on the TV while you're there. We were also seated directly under the TV even though there were other spots available and maybe only 4 other parties in the restaurant when we arrived. I kept trying to bring up different conversations so my kid didn't have to hear of brutal beatings, deadly shootings, bomb and terrorist attacks, people ears and tongues being cut out. At one point the woman at the table next to us even gasped at the news because it was quite graphic. So quite the fail for us on a nice Saturday dinner out. We went next door to Publix to get dessert to bring home instead. Disappointing at best.

My brother asked me to sign in specifically to post this review: --- showed up to eat at the thai restaurant next door which is now closed so went here. overpriced, low quality garbage on a plate. I am now going to wash the taste of this restaurant out of my mouth. can't believe gekko sushi closed and this place is still in business.

Good pizza with really good ingredients. You get the best cheese, not the "other stuff" that some pizzas have on them. The dinners are great too. I like to take my pizza home which can make the crust a bit chewy but when I eat it there...that thing is PERFECT. Really down to earth owners. I wish I knew their names but I am always in and out. Cool place.

In my opinion Calabria has the best pizza in town. My husband refuses to get pizza anywhere else, because the best is so close to us.

I can only speak about the pizza at this restaurant but it is AMAZING! I think it's really hard to find a good pizza in Florida and I have to say I finally found some place to go! They use the good cheese and have an amazing crust. The sauce tastes like something right out ot Italy. Outstanding!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
