Villa Bellini is a 5 star dining experience you can have while wearing jeans. The building, both inside and out, is stunning. Every corner was thought of when this building was redecorated. The bar area is huge, the private dining areas both downstairs and upstairs are beautiful. As amazing as the decor was, I was even more amazed by the food. The food was above any expectation I had even though I know it is Italian fine dining. The Tortelloni Dunedin I ordered was so rich and flavorful from the perfect balance of mushrooms, Marsala wine, cream and veal. By far the best Marsala dish I have ever had. Everyone at our tables raved about their food and it turned into an impromptu family style dining as we all just ate of each other's dishes. I barely had room for dessert, but I had heard that these were top notch. We went with the tiramisu and an amaretto cream one, and it was silent at the table for about 10 minutes as we devoured both. I was so truly impressed with the whole experience Villa Bellini's offered. I appreciated that it isn't stuffy inside and it is rather casual, as many patrons had on jeans. From the casual environment, to the decor, to the outstanding service, to the amazing food...this was one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in years.

This was the first night of our vacation, and I picked this place based off of fellow Yelper reviews who did not lead me astray. Everything that makes a restaurant a place you want to visit again and again from service, to food, to ambience was there. We were running late due to construction, and I called the hostess who reassured me it was not a problem and was welcoming and reassuring. When we arrived, I was impressed with the beautiful woods, warm light, and overwhelming smells of delicious foods from the kitchen. Walking to our table, we all kept saying, "oh my gosh it smells good!" Our waiter, Allasandra (Alex) was a total joy, knowledgable about the menu, and happy to share with us his recommendations. We started with the Antipasto Meraviglia. The cheeses were fabulous! I heard the olives were also great--I didn't get one. From there we went to the arugula salad with a delicious lemon/olive oil dressing and fabulous parmesan cheese. The next course is where the winners (which we all were) and the exceptional dishes blossomed. The special was a lasagne made with meatballs. The red sauce was extraordinary. The portion was huge, but my youngest never came up for breath before he was done. My oldest had the Ravioli Villa Bellini, a delicious lobster ravioli with a light cream sauce. I wanted to lick the sauce off the plate. My husband had the Tortellini Dunedin, filled with veal and beef in a mushroom sauce. Pretty off the hook. But the star of the night was the Saccottini Ciro. Maybe one of the top five most delicious entrees I've ever had. Everyone tried it--to the point of me wielding my knife to protect my dinner--and declared it spectacular. It was summed up best by my youngest who said, "It's like Jesus made this for us because he wants us to know he loves us." If you go here, you must have this. Don't experience a dinner anywhere near Tampa without driving here to have this. We ended with the chocolate soufflé and ice cream. Very wonderful evening made even more special by our fabulous waiter, beautiful setting and unique food. Go here! You won't be sorry other than the button you move on your pants because it's all so good you cannot stop!

This place is First Class! The service is impeccable, the wait/bar staff here has been extremely well selected. The food is hands down some of the best Italian food I have had in the U.S. Having been fortunate enough to have spent a length of time in Italy, I have been trying to find an Italian restaurant that actually prepares their food the way it is done in the homeland. I have to say that it is not a simple thing to find here at home. Most of the Italian food is done in the style of New York style Italian. Lots of canned tomatoes, meats and grease. Everything at Villa Bellini has been extremely fresh and a large number of food ingredients have been imported from Italy. The interior has been completely refurbished or replaced. For anyone who has been to this building while it was Tio Pepe or Ceviche, you will immediately notice the upgrades. The outside and inside are beautifully and thoughtfully redone. There is also complimentary valet now, as well. We chose this as our destination for Valentine's Day and I feel like we hit a home run. The Owner and Head Chef, Ciro, was as nice of a person as you can be. He walked around and greeted everyone, handed out roses to the ladies and even offered us a free glass of champagne with a fresh strawberry (while we were eating). If you are in to extremely well-done Italian food, made the traditional Italian way, and you are looking to have a true quality dining experience - you will not be let down. This place is not an inexpensive place though. So if you are on a budget, please look over the menu online before you jump in the car. Quality costs a little bit extra when it comes to dining but, for someone who loves a truly great meal and experience, it is worth every penny.

AVOID on major holidays! We were here on Valentine's day...and it was packed. The food was great...had muscles for an appetizer..garlicky and delicious..for dinner i had linguine Florida and my girlfriend had pollo picata (spl?) both were perfect..a lot of flavor, good portions and reasonable prices. Now you are probably wondering why 3 stars if the food was that good! Because service was the worst!!! The hostesses ignored us while we stood there waiting on them to acknowledge us..and our waitress had no clue of dishes on the menu..was inattentive and disengaged..she would ask us a question and half way thru our answer, she would leave to take care of another table..it was very strange!! Not sure if she was just extra help or what but she was not a good waitress at all!! Our table was small and right next to the kitchen which we were not happy about. Load of traffic and very little privacy.

I would have hated to be seated in the bar area on the night I visited. I felt bad for the people sitting close to the entrance to the bar as it was a busy evening and very congested in that area. The Grouper was the best I have had in many years. The dressing on the Caesar Salad was very tasty. The Filet was cooked to perfection. It will be interesting to see what they will do with the deck expansion and how they will try to reduce some of the noise from the traffic.

We visited Villa Bellini for the first time on Feb 15th. Every course we had was fabulous. But since it was Valentine's weekend, it was busy and service could have been better--they completely forgot about our appetizer. At the time, they were also a fairly new restaurant, so hopefully they have worked out some kinks since then. We plan on returning on a less busy evening because the food was awesome. One of the few real Italian places in Tampa bay!

Finally I got to sit down and eat at Villa Bellini. Chef Mancini have always been nice to us. Went for lunch and ordered the salmon and my friend ordered the chicken saltimbocca have to admit I was surprised on the smaller portions but I understand it is lunch. I wasn't thrilled about the sauces but salmon was perfectly cooked and potatoes were delicious. The lentil soup was very good. I took 2 stars down because of service which wasn't the best. He was kind of rude, less than attentive and felt like he only came to take our orders, pick up our empty plates and to give us the check. Besides that food was ok but I will definitely will be back to try their dinner menu hope the flavors and service are way better.

An outstanding Italian restaurant here in Clearwater. Their bolognese is out of this world. I order it spicy to give it that extra kick. Very homey atmosphere. They also offer a 15 dollar corking fee.

Everything about this restaurant was 5 star! The bread the salad the entrees! The wine! Highly recommend the clam appetizer the lobster ravioli was out of this world! The filet with Demi glaze was impeccable, the cut was better than I've had at most 5 star steakhouses in the area. The ambiance, beautiful! I can't wait to go back!!

I would like to mention from the start that we did not eat in the restaurant but purchased dinner for take out instead. We have visited this location several times over the last 20+ years. Just recently has it become Villa Bellini, and let me tell you, the upgrades and work done to this building are beautiful. The staff was all very friendly when placing our order and at pick up. The food. It's so difficult to find good Italian food in the area. Yes, Villa Gallace and Casa Ludovico are both excellent Italian restaurants in the area and I do not mean to include them in that statement. Villa Bellini was quite delicious. As an appetizer we ordered the prosciutto and mozzarella plate. Honestly, I have never had mozzarella so fresh before. And the prosciutto, wow. For entrees we ordered each of the two gnocchi dinners. One was gorgonzola and a cream sauce while the other was in a marinara with mozzarella on top. I could take or leave the gnocchi with marinara, but my husband really liked it. However, I could eat the gorgonzola gnocchi every day. Delicious! We will be returning!

My wife and I dined at Bellini tonight on a lark. We had been to the facility in a prior iteration, and we were pleasantly surprised by the renovation. The bar is greatly expanded ans straddled a separate bar area as well as an auxiliary dining area where we were seated. The service was friendly and attentive, but still casual - not continental, if that is your preference. The food was great. The Caesar dressing was lighter ans a bit more citrusy than traditional, but thoroughly enjoyable. May lamb was perfectly done as was my wife's marsala. My wine was reasonably priced. The side dishes for both of us was asparagus and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were pleasant, but I would have appreciated the option of a small side of pasta. The prices were quite fair for the quality. My only negative comment, and the reason for a 4 rating, not a 5, is that the room that we were in was a bit noisy, and there was a lot of traffic to the veranda tables, which did not augment the mood of our dinner. Overall, we will certainly return, and I will take pleasure in exploring the menu further.

Went for first time Saturday- very good in all aspects.-Décor was very impressive, food and service very good. Server, Ashia ( sp?) was very attentive, small delay for entrees to come and she kept us posted. Also recommended very nice reasonable wine. Only negative would be tables for two along corridor were small and there was a lot of traffic from the wait staff going by all the time. Definitely will be back

We came to Clearwater for the Michael Bolton Concert and thought this looked like a nice place for dinner before the show. Since vacationing in Italy- we are always on the search for good Italian restaurants! We drove by and saw that Villa Bellini was open for lunch. We ordered Tilapia Livornes, and it was amazing! The service was great, and the atmospere very nice. We returned for dinner and ordered the filet- we normally wouldn't order steak in an Italian restaurant, but the lunch server told us how good it was, and the chef is very fussy. She related that one evening the filet wasn't up to his liking, and he took it off the menu. The steak did not disappoint, nor did the great Caesar salad. The bread was crusty, and the olive oil was the grade you would expect from an Italian restaurant. Service and ambiance makes this restaurant a winner!

We chose this place for Valentine's Day, and it was a great choice. When we arrived the lobby area was extremely crowded and the hostess seemed a little overwhelmed but very pleasant. We had to wait even though we had reservations so they made it up to us by giving us free cocktails and comfortable seats, which I thought was a nice touch. The food was good but the veal osso bucco was insanity. I would definitely return!

My husband and I are food snobs and are not easily impressed, but Villa Bellini had us planning our next visit. The restaurant is beautiful, our waiter, Peter, was attentive and personable, the food was truly incredible, the wines were fabulous, and the dessert was so good I almost re-enacted a scene from "When Harry Met Sally." We started with the Antipasto Misto which was delicious. I had the Cannelloni Tampa, and my husband had the Ravioli Villa Bellini. Both were excellent. For dessert we had chocolate lava cake, which was the best I have had EVER in my life, and Crème Brule', which was also very good. The only part of the meal that we didn't like was the bread. It was a bit too hard for our liking. Honestly, I have dined at many fine restaurants all over the county, and this ranks as one of the best. It is so nice to finally get a meal that will forever be held as a great memory. We are so glad that we had our anniversary dinner there.

  • Blondie P.

Outstanding. As others have said, you can have a fine dining experience without dressing up (though you could if you wanted). The Cannelloni Tampa was excellent, others ordered a Grouper Piccata (on my next trip I'll try it, as my bite was not nearly enough). The veal dish was also excellent. Our waiter, Peter, was terrific from the very beginning, serving without being obtrusive, and pacing our meal out for the leisurely dining experience old friends who are catching up enjoyed immensely. He made the meal complete. The ambience of the place is very cozy, making you feel at home. (Actually I think this used to be someone's home.) The dining area is broke up into smaller rooms so you get a down home, comfy feeling, which is all part of fine Italian dining.

The food is phenomenal! The seating is intimate and the acoustics make it a bit noisy, but all is forgiven when you get your first taste of the freshest mozzarella I've ever had. Highly recommend the pasta, it's made with care in house. Anyone can make a decent pasta dish at home with box spaghetti. Once you have had the homemade variety, you'll never go back. Truly memorable evening. We brought a special bottle of wine from home. They have no issues, for a nominal fee.

I visited this restaurant with three others back in November... Upon puling in we were all VERY impressed with the building and décor, stunning!! We were seated quickly and got a few appetizers as well as meals to share. All the food was great. We especially enjoyed the shrimp appetizer (not sure what its called but it comes out still sizzling on the pan!) and the calamari was delicious! Sangria from the bar was great as well. Service was attentive and friendly. The chef even visited our table while we were dining. Can't wait to visit again!

  • Cheryl F.

Food is excellent. We have been there every week for the last month at least one time. The staff seem to each have their own philosophy and not cohesive from waiter to waiter. They offer a corkage for $25 a bottle but if you bring more than one bottle the policy changes. We were a group of 6 and after they opened the 3rd bottle for us they told us that their policy is two and they did us a favor by opening the 3rd bottle for a group of 6. Furthermore the next bottle would be $50. Either you allow couples to bring a bottle, etc. or you don't. The corkage fee isn't shy so not really sure what the problem is. We have never encountered this in any other area restaurant, Sea Salt, Ruth's Chris, Capital Grill, E and E Stakeout, etc. Couldn't find the policy anywhere written so that was a let down.

Best of the bay and arguably one of the best Italian restaurant I have ever enjoyed the pleasure of dining. Great location in Clearwater easily accessible to Tampa just over the Coutney Campbell. Nice decor. Classy NOT stuffy the waiters are all 'fun' and somehow 'mesh' into the dining experience. Wonderful food.. but the place transcends food into a celebration of life Not cheap, but worth it and NOT overpriced. A rare find on the west coast of Florida! I give it top score!!

Great food and amazing service! The service was literally the highlight of the meal. Sarah was fresh squeezing my husband's lemonade because they were out of syrup. She gave us great recommendations as to what to order as well. The only negative was the valet parking. We were forced to do it, even though it's a smaller parking lot. At the end of the meal we just took the keys from the valet and walked to the car since the parking lot was empty and our car was about 10 feet from us.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in Clearwater by far. Huge improvement from when it was Ceviche. The steak I had, which was a special that night (Kobe, they said) was one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was better than any that I've had from Bern's in Tampa. Everything else was amazing. Our server (Emad?) was great as well. Ambience, lighting, everything else was perfect. Highly recommend.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again.
