Good chicken, but the chicken at Pollo Tropical is just as tender and juicy and costs less. Sides are good and equal at both places. Good chicken at either, although they could both be improved with the outside a little crispier.

Add this one to your list of local favorites and you won't be disappointed. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and falls off the bone. The tostones and rice were perfect. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Good chicken, tasty and moist, Great french fries - some other restaurants could learn something. Slow on the service but we were given a free dessert to make amends.

One of our favorites. Ask for the quinoa, which you might miss on the menu. Consistent, tasty, healthy - a hidden gem.

Pico Rojo is a great addition to the countryside area. Their food is fresh, mostly organic, seasoned simply, yet appropriately. Several nights a week, I do get takeout from this wonderful local place and find the the nice assortment of vegetables, moist chicken, and amazing plaintains (along with the lovely jalapeno pepper sauce) is a great alternative to the mass produced and over processed options that are ubiquitous to this area. And the wonderful couple who are the faces of this business are personable, sweet, and care about their community. I do have one criticism. For this counter service/take out style restaurant, it can take quite awhile to receive your food once you place an order. I have also placed my order via phone hoping my food would be ready upon arrival, and they hadn't even started preparing my order. The timing seems more appropriate for table service. Though, I will not let the timing deter me from eating here in the future. It's just helpful to keep my expectations realistic.

This is a great little place! You can really tell the owners care about the food and their customers. Really good rotisserie chicken, nice fresh veggie sides like green beans, asparagus, plantains, black beans and quinoa. Clean and cute interior. I highly recommend Pico Rojo for a casual, healthy lunch or dinner!

Excellent rotisserie chicken done in a healthy way. The meat is well cook and the taste is very good. Besides this, the sides are very good. The prices are very reasonable.Rest is very clean and nice. Service is very friendly. You will enjoy it.

Excellent lunch spot. Food is great. My favorite thing on the menu is the yucca fries. With the green sauce and the mayonnaise based sauce. Yum!!! The rotisserie chicken is so juicy and delicious.

Ahhh finally tried Pico Rojo today accompanied with the Pico Rojo Greek Goddess expert Sofia, and drum roll please...... Loved it!!!! Chicken was great, moist and flavorful. I love the white chicken meat, and picked the 1/2 chicken and chose two chicken breast. My sides were asparagus and fried cheese. My hubby had the same but had the fried yuca and sweet plantains. The fried yuca was my favorite side. The creamy dipping sauce is good and your chicken will melt in your mouth and your taste buds will be doing cart wheels. The green sauce is spicy. I tried to kill the spice with the creamy sauce, didn't work. Sangria, thanks to Sofia, was do good. It made me super mellow and relaxed. Love & Peace man!!! I love this chill and comfy atmosphere. Order at the front, and they will bring your food to you. They have different drinks like Inca Cola, Coconut Water, Aloe Water, Malta, and sodas. Good variety. Yes, I'll be back. They have one table outside too. Enjoy their super wonderful chicken, sides, salads, sandwiches inside and out!!!!!!

I'm very pleased with finding this little place. Wanted someting Latin American and saw this place had good reviews. While the menu is pretty small, if you're looking for some good chicken, this is the place. If you get a chicken meal, it comes with two sides and is the best deal for the money. My girlfriend got the meal with black beans and rice and sweet plantains. I got the Pico Rojo Chicken Sandwich with fried yucca. The chicken was so well-cooked that it was almost creamy (?) and the yucca was excellently fried. The house sauce goes well with everything. I also had a dessert empanada which was a wonderful mix of salty, fried, and sweet. If you want a good, $10 chicken lunch, go for the main meal, and avoid the pricey extra sides and desserts (though they are all good!).

I do love the food here. I would come eat here 5 times a week if I could because it's sooooo good- BUT they are def a little on the pricey side for chicken and 2 sides. The asparagus and the the fried cheese is on point.

My boyfriend and I tried this for lunch because it had meat stuff for him and two (2!!) vegetarian options for me. We love Spanish food so we were excited to try this place. It did not deliver for me or him. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and said it was dry. I ordered Yungas and all that is the following side dishes: two (2!) super small plantains, some beans, rice, fried cheese and a pile of diced tomatoes. THAT's IT! See the pic below for yourself! And the tomatoes were just plain - they didnt even come with salt! I mean, dang - you can't make the effort to turn those tomatoes into salsa?!? There were not very many beans and that's where I get my protein but the whole meal was so puny I had to stop for something else to eat.

  • Erica M.

We were shockingly unimpressed with their chicken, which I'm shocked about given the Yelp reviews. Our sandwich didn't have much meat and the chicken was dry. Maybe it was just an off day given the many other great reviews.

I'm reviewing Pico Rojo immediately after my first meal there. Omg, I'm slapping myself for not going there sooner! I got the white mean quarter chicken with steak fries and green beans. The chicken was super juicy and had great flavor. The steak fries were out of this world, and the green beans were made with garlic. All very delicious and fresh! Every meal comes with two complimentary sauces. Both amazing. The gentlemen who took my order (to go order) was super helpful and walked me through the menu. Great service! Lots of gluten free options! Can't wait to go back!!!

Pico rojo is a cute small restaurant with amazing food. I had a leg quarter with two sides, I absolutely recommend the yucca fries , black beans and rice and the flan ,which is amazing. If your craving Latin food from a local place this is the place to go!!

Like Sunday at my Mothers house in Argentina where we would always pick up rotisserie chicken and sides -Latin style! The chicken here was well seasoned and moist, excellent yucca fries (which were as good as other reviewers mentioned) and asparagus. Nice place for a family lunch, friendly service and a clean quaint dining area. All the sides looked delicious! Next time I'm going to try the empanadas as an appetizer and the alfajores for dessert. Nice Latin family style restaurant with a nice home feel to it. We will definitely come back with the entire family next time!

Over-priced for the portions ....$10+ for a little chicken sandwich and a small bowl of bland rice & beans at lunch is a joke

Absolutely fantastic. Boston Market style restaurant on Mexican steroids. Their chicken is awesome, their sides are incredible (I would highly recommend the mozzarella), and the sauces they make are just the cherry (or sauces) on top. My wife and I have made this a regularly weekly meal. Prices are fair, and service is excellent. Can't recommend this place enough.

One Word... FLAVOR! After my first bite, I literally bulldozed right through it. Besides everything being awesome on the plate , I was really surprised with the green beans. At first when I ordered and sat down I thought damn, I ordered greens beans. Blah! Why did I order those?! Sigh *eyeroll* They are usually a flavorless vegetable when served at a restaurant, but I was really trying to eat on the healthier side today. Well, as soon as I took a bite I was pleasantly surprised. They had a nice crisp to them still, with butter, garlic and sea salt sprinkled on top. I ate them one by one with my fingers:-) Loved them. The chicken, even though I ordered white, was so easy to pull apart soft, still moist and full of flavor. I even ate most of the skin, it was so good, and I never do that. Quinoa w/black beans is a nice healthier option, and yucca fries... Lovely. Everything was steaming hot, fresh. This might just become one of my favorite places . I ate everything with my hands and it wasn't a pretty sight. I was really impressed about how great everything was that I forgot to wash my hands before I left, and I'm not even annoyed that they smell like a smoky rotisserie chicken right now .

Awesome place! I really like the asparagus and the empanadas. Chicken is always really good also the quinoa and beans is really great. Anyone that has anything bad to say about this place is the devil and they are trying to deceive you. Also let's be real, people who leave bad yelp reviews are the worst type of garbage people on earth. Was it really that bad? So bad that you had to take time out of your day to mount and inflict a unerasable attack on someone's life's work. Mind you a life's work that most other people seem to like. Maybe you just have a trailer park palate and good tasting food offense you.

Good food, prepared well. The smell of the wood fire was too much for to eat inside so I ate outside at the tables. The chicken was moist but needed more seasoning. It was cooked perfectly but needed something. The fried yuca was outstanding and using the two sauces for dipping was very tasty. The white rice black beans was regrettable . It had a starchy flavor that was not good. Overall I would Come back and try something else but alone. My bride can't handle the wood Burning smell.

The best place to eat in Clearwater, Florida!!! I am not being hyperbolic at all. This place is a hidden gem! I no longer reside in Clearwater, but I can say, without a doubt, that Pico Rojo is the best place to eat in the area, hands down. EVERY SINGLE TIME I HAVE EATEN HERE IT HAS BEEN AMAZING! Let's start with the dining environment: quaint and sophisticated on a simple level. It makes you feel like you are in a mid-century modern latin american home. I know, that sounds odd, but that's just the feel. It is warm and inviting yet sophisticated. The staff that works there is amazing! I do not know the name of one of the ladies that works there, but she is always so warm and has the greatest smile and basically bends over backwards to cater to your every need. The food itself is simple yet full of fresh flavor. I find myself consistently ordering either the half roasted chicken or the chicken sandwich (with roasted red peppers). I highly recommend both. I have read other reviews and some people are commenting on the lack of flavor: I really don't know what they are referring to. I have eaten here no less than twenty times and the flavor is there, it is just super clean and fresh. Do not come here expecting overly seasoned KFC type chicken. The sides are also awesome: Steak friends (something about these friends...just fries...AMAZING, black beans, quinoa, Yucca, all delicious. Please go visit this business. I know you will love it as much as I do!!

Loved this hidden little place! Delicious yucca, platanos & chicken! Hubs had one of their veggie dinners and loved it: quinoa, arugula salad & yucca. Nice presentation as well. They have a great selection of different sides; it was hard to choose. Get the green salsa to go with your dish! We will definitely be back!

This place feels like a local secret and delivers on taste and value! The white meat chicken, black beans/quinoa, and tostones are excellent and have a very unique taste. Very reasonably priced and perfect for a midweek fast casual meal.

One of the better Latin spots in all of Tampa Bay. Just like it reads in front of the restaurant. Fresh, healthy, natural, free of hormones & preservatives, cooked with natural ingredients. You get just that! Pico Rojo is inside a plaza along with other quality restaurants from indian, to sushi, to breakfast. It can be difficult to decide where you wanna eat until you get that tasty smell from the chicken being cooked to perfection at Pico Rojo. I enjoy great Latin food, I enjoy it even more when it's done with a healthy conscious. Pico Rojo offers the best of both worlds, check them out.

Chicken - Crispy skin, well seasoned, juicy meat. The green jalapeno sauce is a nice addition for some heat, but the chicken has plenty of flavor on it's own. Sides - I had black beans & rice, and tostones. Tostones are fried when you order, and come out hot, crispy, with a nice sprinkling of salt. They have a sauce that I think is basically mayo-ketchup, that goes well w/the tostones. Black beans were also well seasoned. I will return.

We love the Pico Rojo sandwich, but 3 out of the last 5 times we've wanted one, they've been out of bread! There aren't that many things on the menu, seems like they could get a handle on how much bread to order. The food itself is great.

My first time trying this place, nice ambiance.I ordered empanadas, chicken, yuca, rice and beans: let's start. chicken-i ordered a whole chicken, fime minutes later I was told they just haved breast, seasoned well but cold so I assumed it was from the other day. beans-no flavor, just like boiled beans. rice-was good. yuca-fine

I have driven past this place every work day for six years and didn't know it was there. Their logo on a catering trailer caught my eye and I looked them up on Yelp and saw the fantastic reviews. So I picked up take out tonight for dinner and I have to agree with the the other reviews it was all very good. We ate chicken, black beans and rice, coleslaw and sweet plantains. All was good but the plantains were off the chart good. The natural sugars were carmelized till it was almost crunchy. A pleasant surprise was the cool and unexpected atmosphere the restaurant has with the walls, music and decor. Next time I will enjoy the food at their place.

I'm a regular. I am always warmly greeted. So you walk in, and the music and environment is so cool. Kind of like how I felt the first time I ever walked into Starbucks. It has such a latin american feel to it (not to be confused with mexican) This place is casually classy and the service is good. The chicken is very tender and juicy, way better than Pollo tropical, Boston market or YaYas. I love the fact that it's a family biz and they use peanut oil or olive oil to cook with. I don't have that yucky bloated feeling when I fill up there. They have a lovely wine selection to pair with what ever you order. The sangria is yummy. My favorite selections are: The quarter white or dark (depends on my mood) Yucca fries Tostones Fried plantains Green beans They also offer latin sodas, or fruit juices like guava, coconut water or mango. Great lunch spot with a date. They do take out as well. They have patio seating and allow dogs. Worth the visit.

This place is insanely awesome. My brother found it while working around the area. It is own by Bolivians and their chicken and side dishes are exquisite. Prices are also good and beyond the food is a good place to bring a group and share a meal. This is where my family and I always come when we are together on a weekend. Be prepare to wait, so much demand with so little staff might take a little while.

I picked up dinner from here on a Friday night around 5pm it was a holiday weekend but it was dead inside and was seriously considering turning around as soon as I walked in. I ordered the whole dark meal with the 4 sides- yuca fries, green beans, corn, plantains and an extra order of beans and rice plus 2 of their chicken empanadas. I brought our dinner to go. I was pretty jazzed to try this place after reading the reviews, but to me, it was just average and I'm sure we won't be back anytime soon. The chicken was sooooooo dry and not a lot of flavor going on and I order dark meat specifically to avoid this. The highlight was the sides, and they weren't even that exciting. The yuca fries were very good, lightly battered and nicely seasoned, but we only got 4 of them to share between 3 people. The green beans were good, but not as good as other reviewers made it out to be. It seemed like something by one could easily make at home. The plantains were good but they could have been riper nbd, and the corn was well seasoned, but were either from a can or frozen... :-| I'd rate the beans and rice but I never got them. Overall I'm glad I tried the place to rule it out for future dinners. It was only... Meh.

Service was good and helpful. We had the chicken empanadas and Pico rojo sandwich. The empanadas were ok And so was the sandwich, but I felt the sandwich could've used some work. Buy the food was tasty. They have free WiFi and a Latino music playlist.but no TVs.the decor was simple too. I've had better empanadas for cheaper price. But overall this place is worth trying again.

Nice meals and super friendly staff. This place is a lunchtime staple for me. I just finished the quarter dark with asparagus and fried cheese. It was delicious. Their beans and rice are a favorite too. I'm not sure what is in the Verde sauce they provide, but that stuff mixed with a touch of their aïoli is delicious.

Highly highly highly recommend! The minute you walk in the door you are overtaken by the amazing, undeniable smell of rotisserie chicken! The salivating-inducing smell alone warrants a rating of 5...seriously, it is that powerful! It just draws you in, straight to the counter, beckoning you to order. And once you order...holy cow, will your taste buds thank you! The food is de-lic-ious!!! The chicken is juicy with wonderful flavor. The yucca fries are out of this world good and the sauces...wowee they are yummy! Love this place; can't wait to go back!

So, I've been going here for many years now and realized I've never left them a review! One of my favorite things about this place is right when you step in the door you walk into this amazing smell of the wood charcoal they use to cook their chicken. The smell alone will sell you on their food. It's a very small and comfortable place. The couple running it are pretty much the nicest people ever and that's always a plus for me. I've been here for lunch by myself, with a group, lunch date, business meeting and laid back dinner. You order at the counter and to the left of that is the menu on the wall. I either order a quarter chicken or half. Here's a little special tip. If you are ordering the quarter white, for only about $1.50 extra you can get a half chicken. Now it always comes with two sides. They are all so good and I've pretty much tried them all. I always tell people if they haven't eaten here to try the yuca because they do it so well. It basically taste like lightly fried buttery mashed potato fries. Can't go wrong with that. Also you can eat very healthy here because they don't use butter and they have other sides that are healthy and gluten free. But the real star here is the chicken! It comes to you with crispy well seasoned skin and the chicken is so tender. They give you two sauces. One is simply chopped fresh jalapeño and the other is a house made sauce with a mayo base and seasoning. They tell you to mix them and dip your chicken in it. I personally use that sauce for everything! Overall this is a great place and once you go you get hooked and crave it all the time!

Visit time/day: weekday lunch Atmosphere: casual, cafeteria style, quaint The first time I went to Pollo Tropical was in Miami - nearly had a panic attack because it was so busy there was no time to casually look over the menu or ask questions without a look of hatred from the staff and customers for holding up the line. Pico Rojo was a much more relaxed experience - thank you :) Ordered a 1/4 white meat chicken meal with green beans and fried yucca. The meal was accompanied by 2 very small portions of their sauces - Pico Rojo (mayo based mustard) and Aji (slightly spicy green cilantro based). The chicken was moist, although not super flavorful - needed the sauces to help out. I'm not a 'skin' eater so probably missed out on some of the flavor by skipping. The sides were the highlights - green beans were smothered in greasy garlic butter (super delicious!) and the fried yucca was crispy and hot - seemed to have almost a tempura style batter - exceptional! I wish the portions were a bit larger, I left feeling kinda hungry still. I'm a big eater though so I don't know if others feel the same way. And, I thought the prices were a bit high ($8.99) for the portion size. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant was clean and relaxing. I will probably go back and order extra of everything (including side sauces).

This place is hands down the best rotisserie chicken around. If you are a Seinfeld fan just think of Kenny Rodger effect on Kramer and you know what i mean. Its that good!! The sides are all great. I really enjoy the asparagus and sweet plantains but get the green beans sometimes too.

I like to consider myself a regular here. It is always a hassle free experience. Let me just highlight the best thing about this restaurant, the music. Props to the owner for the magnificent playlist. Ok, onto the food now. Here's what I always order: the pico chicken sandwich with fries; or the primavera salad with chicken (it has grapes, pear, pistachios, and dried cranberries), and /or the black bean & quinoa side. Sometimes all I get are two sides of the bb & quinoa, and it fills me up. All of this menu items never fail, and the excellent taste is always consistent. I'm not crazy about the rotisserie chicken simply because it's a little bland, and it never seems to satisfy my hunger. Uhhh, also I recently ordered a cheese empanada for dessert. It was drool worthy. Will get it again!

This place offer a variety of healthy South American dishes. Every time I go I am greeted by the owner after I place my order and never wait an excessive amount of time for my food. The people are always nice and grateful for happy customers and it is reflective in their food/service. Back to the food, they have veg/gf options which are amazing and delicious and we always leave satisfied and sure we will fit into our jeans tomorrow. The 'yungas' is my favorite and my husband gets rotisserie chicken with quinoa and beans.

I have lived around the corner from this place for years, but had never tried it because we are vegetarians. We were looking for someplace different to go for lunch today and checked out their menu online. We were happy to find they had vegetarian options, so in we went. Our food arrived plated with care, and it all tasted fresh and delicious. My personal favorites were the quinoa, the fried yucca and the sweet plantains. I felt it was a tad on the pricey side considering the portion size, but I love to support local businesses - especially those who recognize that not everyone eats meat. So we will be back!

The prime food at Pico Rojo is their rotisserie Chicken paired with their many sides. The food is ordered family style although its served per person. Its a small cozy place located in a strip shopping plaza without much a do store front. Once inside the smells of the Peruvian influenced food here take your sense of smell on wonderful adventures. The star dish - woodgrilled all natural chicken with spice aromas can be paired with Quinoa and Beans, Sweet Plantains, Tostones, Grilled Asparagus, Fried Cheese and many other items. The chicken is unbeatable - a perfection of flavor, aroma, and taste. Drop the fork and knife and enjoy with your fingers. You will not even think twice while you lick your fingers after. Each of the side items (mentioned above) are an equal adventure into taste and flavor. Nothing is disappointing and not even the care and the service to please. If you are a first timer let the person behind the counter know and they will surely talk you through their menu. Its clear they take great pride in their food, and I whole heartedly agree that they should.

So good. Food is so fresh, perfectly cooked, tastes awesome and presented cleanly. Really liked this place. The gentleman there, owner?, really talked to us and made sure we knew about the place & what he stands for. Loved it. I got to say, I love bbq/grill smell, this place is def full of it...be prepared to smell like it but it smells so good!

READ THIS IF YOU LOVE POLLO A LA BRASA: This chicken is a major disappointment. I don't know if people who've posted such glowing reviews are Hispanic and have actually had pollo a la brasa before. But I have had great pollo a la brasa, or Peruvian roast chicken, all over the world and the chicken at Pico Rojo is TASTELESS by comparison. If you have ever had El Pollo Rico, Pio Pio, Super Chicken, El Pollo Loco, or any of the other Latin grilled chicken chains in the US, this chicken will be tasteless to you. Even Pollo Tropical has better flavor than Pico Rojo. Here are the good things about Pico Rojo: The food is indeed fresh, the sides were pretty good (fried, yucca, plaintains, etc.) The bad things: It's extremely expensive for what you get (compared to other Latin chicken chains) The chicken, which is supposed to be THE specialty at a pollo a la brasa place, is tasteless and the skin is NOT crispy (which it's supposed to be) The sauces for dipping your chicken are as bland as the chicken; part of the deliciousness of Peruvian/Latin chicken is the accompanying sauces. El Pico Rojo fails with the sauces too. If you want great Peruvian chicken, Tampa Bay is lacking, I'm afraid. I think I would rather go to Pollo Tropical than this pace because at least the chicken there has FLAVOR (although it is very dry). If you want great grilled chicken (granted it's kebab, not Latin) with a great accompanying sauce, go to Petra in Tampa.

As a Miami native and Cuban (with mostly of South American friends) I was beyond excited to try this place when I read the reviews. My excitement quickly faded though. I'm convinced that the folks that think this place is a 4 or 5 start place haven't had the pleasure of eating true pollo a la brasa. Was it bad? No, not at all. Was it worth the price? Definitely not. The chicken was average, but not very moist and the flavor was so-so. I will say the fried yucca was great (but extremely tiny portion) and the alfajores were pretty yummy. But we ended up paying $25 for 2 quarter chickens meals with black beans and rice, a tiny side of fried yucca and a side of corn which i didn't order. I had asked for plantains. That's another thing, they ALWAYS get something wrong in the order so you have to check it. I tend to try a place more than once unless it's awful just to give it the benefit of the doubt. Tried it twice more and same complaints apply. Save your $ and go to Pollo Tropical. It's pretty equivalent. The only reason it gets 3 stars instead of 2 is because of the sides.

I must state that I was advised to visit Pico from a cafe owner friend of mine who eats gluten and grain free food. In fact, we went together this evening. I had a 1/4 chicken (white meat), yucca, and plantains, with flan for dessert! The chicken, being cooked rotisserie style, was most flavorful with a veganaise sauce and a jalapeno sauce on the side. All said and done, it was just fine but higher priced than similar chicken places in the DC area! I'm going to keep searching for other places with similar chicken and better prices.

I love this place! Just ate there again last night, so after 8 visits we had to give it some kudos. First, it's a casual dining room atmosphere. You walk up to the bar, place your order, pick out a drink, and the food will be brought to your table. Muy casual. But the presentation of the food is killer for a casual place. The food comes on your own large paper lined tray with the food nicely arranged. The chicken is the best in the area, very moist and perfectly cooked. The sides are arranged on the try and come with two sauces. It's really a fun way to eat! If you don't eat meat you can get full by ordering the various side dishes. The yucca is the best; rice and beans come out piping hot; the latin cheese is fried to perfection; the asparagus is great. Every side I've tried was perfect. It's a little hard to find, tucked away in a strip mall with construction currently going on, but it's worth the trip. Expect to spend about $10 a person for the meals, but you'll leave full. It really is healthy feel-good food on a budget.

Just dont bother. Dont bother buying chicken from anywhere else and expecting real chicken. Dont bother getting chicken that taste this great. Dont bother getting 4pcs of your choice of chicken and 4 sides for less then 20bucks. DONT MISS OUT!

Pico rojo cooks up authentic South American rotisserie cuisine. The chicken is healthy and fresh. Wide variety of sides, I recommend the tostones and rice and beans. The environment is clean and enjoyable, the owners are friendly. Only complaint is they have made mistakes and not ready when promised every time I order group lunch for 15 people to carry out for work lunch meetings. Besides that, they do a great job and cook up excellent food

So far this is my favorite Rotisserie Chicken. The place is small but very clean. What I like is that the owners usually are in the restaurant and are very friendly. Back to the food, the chicken really taste like real chicken meet, and has several healthy options as a side, like Quinua to name one. almost forgot about the yellow and hot sauce, its amazing I love it can't get enough. Great place to eat or take out. I not giving it 5 stars because portions are small and price has gone up.

Favorite lunch spot in the Clearwater area! Owners are very welcoming and always put out a consistent, delicious product. Definitely a hidden gem. Many healthy options to choose from too!

Holy Frijoles!!!! This place is the bee's knees. The cat's cradle. The whisper's ear. Tonight we walked up to Pablano's Mexican grill and realized it was a wide open sports bar look with an American server. I immediately walked out and drove around the corner to this little gem and let me tell you... it's no joke. Typical of my hungry and curious self I ordered way too much. The Half Chicken was juicy, brined amazingly well, and coated in a spice rub that can only be described as salty bliss. For my sides I ordered black beans and rice that were simple and the perfect balance to this whole dish. Next I had the Chicken Empenada. It was filled tight with chicken, olives, carrots, peas, and boiled eggs. Most Empenadas I've had are dried out by the time you get them... this wasn't. This was moist (yes the perversely sexual word used to describe sexual things), flavorful (also could be used), and left me screaming for more (ironically the empeneda was sex). Finally for my main course I had the Pico Rojo Sandwich. It looks kind of boring when presented, only bread, lettuce, roasted peppers, and some chicken, but it's one of those less is more type sandwiches. It was sweet, salty, and umami all at once and layered into the fluffiest bread I've tasted. The staff is incredibly friendly, the atmoshere is low key and comfortable, and the other customers were all raving about how much they love the food and how it's their favorite spot in Pinellas. I truly can't wait to go back for more. But you stay away... if I have to wait in line I'm going to start throwing bows.

Honestly, this my absolute favorite lunch place in Pinellas County. To start, The chicken is all natural, horomone free. The quarter chicken white w/ two sides is 8 bucks, and more than enough food. Their side items are all great( I suggest the fried plantains, asparagus, or the beans and rice). Their fried yucca may be the best I've ever had. Their meals and sandwiches are paired with the homeade 'pico rojo' sauce, and diced jalapeño to increase the heat, if you like. The side salad dressing is lime juice and olive oil, and it's so awesome. They also have a great drink selection of international sodas ( imported coke made w cane sugar!) and homeade sangria. The married couple that owns the place are always around and are so nice. EAT HERE!

This is the best chicken in town! Whatever you choose, you will not be disappointed. I love the Pico Rojo sandwich and all of the salads are quite divine and filling. The owners are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet and the atmosphere is kind and inviting. Highly recommend this place. Make it a point to get there soon!!!

My husband and I went here for a date night. The ratings were high and we split a meal. I chose one side and so did I. You have to purchase drinks separately that are different teas, some bottled soda and water. Chicken was seasoned well and was really good. For the price, though, we probably won't be back.

The chicken is really good we eat here at least once a month. The Yuca Fries are awesome! They don't give enough white rice for take out dining. My husband and I order a whole chicken with 4 sides and we eat it the next day too. The restaurant atmosphere is quaint. We always get Manzana to drink......we love Colombian Soda's. We Love Pico Rojo!

Thank you, yelpers, exactly as described. The chicken was excellent, moist and full of flavor. Sides were very good. Service was also excellent -- very nice woman behind the counter -- felt very welcomed. Had a Peruvian purple corn drink -- very happy to see this again somewhere. Vintage photos are of La Paz, are the owners Bolivian? If so, I love Bolivian food!

Went here on the recommendations of the Yelp community. This place was as advertised. Warm atmosphere for a counter-order style restaurant. The food was delicious and well worth the money. Will definitely be back. Eat local and support our community!

A fairly new place in the Clearwater area this is a wonderful restaurant. The owner is Bolivian and it really comes through. Clearwater has a serious lacking of authentic Spanish places (especially compared to Tampa) and Pico Rojo is a welcome addition. The chicken is marinated over night and cooked over natural charcoal. I have NEVER had a piece of chicken as juicy as this was. We also had some fried cheese which was nice, steak fries, and yucca fries which were OUTSTANDING. The chicken is served with a combination of sauces which also really enhance the flavor. It has a nice pleasant atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. Beer and wine and a plethora of drinks are also available. We will definitely be going back soon and often.

Stumbled across this place on yelp and decided to check it out. My wife and I ordered the half chicken ( which is two chicken breast), and two sides. The chicken has really good seasonings, sides were ok. Price for what you get is terrible. The menu is small as well. Glad I tried it but won't go back.

You will find tasty rotiserrie chicken at this joint. Sides were mostly Latin and pretty good. I tried the tostones, asparagus, corn and rice but the star at this place is definitely the juicy chicken.

I cannot get enough of this place! The food is amazing, healthy and flavorful. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. So many choices of sides. Portions are perfect. The atmosphere is really fun too. Casual and classy at the same time. The first time we went in the owner took the time to explain the menu and the cooking methods to us. Menu items are very reasonably priced. Just a great overall dining experience.

Immaculate, modest 'luncheonette' style place, with one dish - chicken!!! Excellent, Rotisserie-cooked, like the name, but sides (sweet plaintains, yucca, quinoa....) that'll make you want to come back to try more. I've heard that the flan is great - but I keep forgetting, after finishing all my 'sides':-):-) Nice folks run the place, too.

An incredible restaurant, hidden away in a strip mall. Stumbled upon this place by accident. (Follow the smell!) The food is simple and good in such a noble way. Plenty of delicious and healthy side choices. I love when I can find a place that cooks ethnic food without trying to pervert it by adding too much or trying to cater to a more american taste. this restaurant should be the example for family food turned restaurant.
