NO IDEA HOW THIS PLACE HAS 5 STARS We had the chicken noodle soup which was bland and had almost no vegetables. The turkey club was pure crap , it looks awesome in pictures however the quality of the meat is very low (processed crap) and the fries were mediocre at best. The service was beyond slow and the patrons all seem as if they're from the Georgia hills... The sandwhiches look awesome but don't be fooled , the meat is disgusting , dog food grade. Our service was the slowest and the other servers just sat around cussing and yelling. I guess the people reviewing this place has a lower quality palate and that's why they reviewed it 5 start It's maybe a 1.5 star at bestttt Go somewhere else !

Excellent breakfast stop! This was in my draft box for many years. I just stumbled on it and wanted to give them the credit they deserve. One of the best diners around. Always friendly and great food for all meals. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Moved to the area about a year ago and always wanted to stop in. Finally did today and I wish I came sooner! I had the best shrimp and grits I ever had! My brother in law and sister (diner connoisseurs) really enjoyed their meals as well. The portions were big and they were satisfied. The service was ok and it really seemed like they catered to the "regulars". Overall, a great breakfast experience.

I come here very often because it's super close to my place and I always enjoy the food. However, there are two waitresses that are not very friendly. It wouldn't hurt them to say "hello" or "good morning" before they ask me what I want to drink. I usually come alone and sit at the bar, so it makes me feel like they don't want to serve me since I'm not a large table that will make them money. I don't let them ruin my experience here, but that's why I only gave 4 stars. There are very nice people that work there, though. Steve the owner is a very nice guy and I did let him know which waitress needed some talking to. It's all about customer service.

It's so good!! It looks like a cute little diner and the food is amazing. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and the pancakes were so fluffy and delicious! Service was great and friendly and portions were huge for the price we paid. My boyfriend loved the coffee and we both left very full and happy :-) will definitely come back next time we're in Clearwater!

I live in Tampa but have business in Clearwater often. I plan my trips across the bay so I can have lunch at the Country Skillet. They are one of the few restaurants that have real carved turkey on their hot turkey open sandwiches. They actually roast whole turkeys almost every day. They also make real mashed potatoes. I also highly recommend their breakfasts. They even served root beer in a frosted mug.! Old fashion quality....and the servers are wonderful.

So you might have seen my previous review: This was about 2 weeks ago Well the Manger of this restaurant takes great pride in his business and he showed me that personally. I went back this past weekend to give this place a try again. Firstly we were seated once we walked in and got water with nothing but water and ice in it as it should be so it started off to a good start. The Decor still needs some updating I do think as there is no real theme from what i can see ( please see photos) I think they are trying for a home-ish feel and if thats it i can see it otherwise i am not sure what they are going for. I think some beach decor would be pleasant. As for the floors this go around they still seemed dirty to me but I think that was due to the rainy weather going on. Since this time we actually stayed for food it was decent service and the waitress was helpful and nice. We were told before ordering that the computer system was down but the son of the manger still ran the business smoothly and had no issues with customers paying. As for the food it was good i must say the mozzarella sticks were some of the best we have had in FL so far. So good job guys! The Clubs were decent too and no issues there. Overall it was a much better experience and the food was inexpensive and made well. I have been to better diners in the area, I must be honest but if you want a quick bite or after church meal check it out!

We popped in for breakfast one morning (something southern as apart from cracker barrel) and the place is very spacious and they give chocolate mini muffins as a starter to the breakfast. I ordered the vanilla custard french toast along with the polish sausage breakfast that came with biscuit (with a side of sausage gravy). Do not judge my appetite on cheat day ha ha. I did not like the sausage gravy which was basically a while gravy but the rest of the meal was tasty. I did enjoy the french toast and my boyfriend got the new orleans french toast which he liked a lot. This would be a place to come back to for a nice down home breakfast and I would like to try some other items on the menu.

Country Skillet has that old time family diner look and feel. It's the kinda place where old men gather to sip coffee and talk about the weather. Their menu is varied enough to please everyone, their service is generally fast and the food is cooked the way you request. One of the best features of this place is that they have flavored creamer for your coffee. Always a winner for breakfast!

We haven't stopped by for years and thought we should give it another try. Saturday lunchtime is very busy. We were about the only table that wasn't ordering breakfast foods. We were in the mood for club sandwiches. I ordered the Turkey Club and my partner ordered the Black Forest Ham and Cheese Club(see pics). They were just what we were looking for. We didn't want anything fancy...just a good 'ole club sammy. It has a friendly staff and an owner that doesn't mind filling a water glass(or two). We will return. As a side note, nearly every table around us got an order of French Toast. Maybe we should try some next time.

not impressed...stopped in before work after reading reviews expecting a very positive experience. Although friendly, the server was not attentive nor very speedy. Seemed very much a hang out for locals and walking in felt very out of place. Omlette was okay but typical. Might try again but doubt it...not bad, just not very good...

It is good for what it is, cheap little no frills resto with decent food. I LOVED the house special chicken soup, and I'm a chicken soup whore so this was a score for me. I've had one breakfast here and one lunch. Breakfast: eggs and potatoes were cooked correctly (no brown omelette, why oh why is this so hard to accomplish for so many places?) I'd have breakfast here again Linch: I had the french dip and subbed soup instead of chips for a dollar more and was sooo glad I did. I was tempted to get a bowl to go but I put myself in check. The french dip was ok, not the best I've ever had but the aus jus was seasoned and the roast beef was not overly processed. The cheese wasn't really melted but the aus jus was hot so it really didn't matter at the end of the day. Great prices and decent food.

The Country Skillet is a diner that serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner. Since I love, love breakfast I opted for a nice skillet dish at 2 in the afternoon on a Sunday. The place wasn't busy in the lull between lunch and dinner. We went in with a party of 6 and even though no one was sitting in the dining room, it was an effort for them to pull tables together. Probably a place better suited for a parties of 4 or less. Definitely would not go there with a big group. As far as diners go, the food was OK. The dining experience was definitely enhanced by how nice everyone was the worked there. Not a fancy place, no ups and no extras. Struck me as the sort of place that appeals to the local neighborhood and probably has it's regulars where everyone knows their name. An overview of the menu, this place appealed to me more for breakfast, maybe for a quick lunch. The dinner menu wasn't that much of a stand out to me.

We go here often. The Taco Salad is great and the 1/3 pound angus burger is one of the best i've ever had.

I'll agree with one thing: this place is cheap. Unfortunately bad food and slow service come with the price. We went on a Sunday and it was crowded. Our waitress gave us our menus, brought our drinks, and then disappeared for a while. We were ready to order and waited quite some time before she came back. We noticed several tables around us that were seated well after us. Finally, we ordered. After about 15 minutes, we noticed that those other tables already had their food. After waiting about 25 minutes our food arrived, and one of those other tables had already eaten, paid, and left before we even got our food. Another person with me ordered pancakes but those didn't come out. He got his eggs and bacon, so we all started eating. The waitress said it would be a few more minutes for the pancakes. That turned into 10 minutes before he got his pancakes. I got the Garden Skillet, with home fries, over-medium eggs, and rye toast. Skillets are usually piping hot right out of the skillet. This one, not so much. It wasn't cold, but definitely on the cold side of warm. The eggs were over-easy and very runny, and not over-medium. The potatoes were undercooked and firm, and the mushrooms were gross little nugglets of rubber straight from a can. Are fresh mushrooms too much to ask? So cold food, canned mushrooms, very slow service, food coming out late, and oh yeah, did I mention really bad coffee? To make it better, it was super loud in there. The crowded room and music playing too loudly added to a thoroughly unenjoyable breakfast. We shan't return.

The service was great, they food exactly as ordered I would return again and again. The only item I was disappointed in the the "fancy ketchup". Was neither fancy or good. I would bring my own in the food was spot on that was the only detractor from the meal. My tater tots would have rocked with some Heinz on the plate.

I sat down with my family at Country Skillet and was immediately brought back to my childhood, eating at New Jersey diners. The service was fast, the portions were great, the pricing was more than affordable, and the atmosphere was unassuming but pure. I would recommend this spot to anyone passing through Clearwater looking for a hearty meal and friendly service. It was well worth our small detour on our drive to Fort DeSoto.

One of the tastiest and friendliest diners I've eaten at in quite some time. I had some famous breakfast sandwich with an onion roll, sausage, and egg and it was phenomenal in both taste and simplicity. Coffee was good also and VERY reasonable priced.

Cons: Service was so so, food was ok. But, I hate having to ask for everything. Butter for pancakes? Creamer for the coffee? Jam for the toast... The sausage gravy tasted like it came out of a can. Pros: Eggs, sausage, potatoes, and pancakes were good. Price was good.

I went to The Country Skillet for breakfast last Sunday, and as busy as it was, the staff looked happy and everyone was smiling. Our server was attentive and always checked in on us. They even had complimentary mini muffins. The banana muffin was my favorite! For breakfast, I ordered a chicken skillet. It comes cooked in a skillet with potatoes, sautéed vegetables, grilled chicken, lots of cheese, and topped with fried eggs! You can't go wrong with that! One of my friends ordered the Cajun omelet. It's hard to decide what I liked more. The omelet had blackened chicken, jalapeños, and plenty of cheese! They have an extensive menu, and you cannot beat the prices. I hear that they have a killer salad as a special right now, with hot bacon dressing! I will definitely have to try that. Overall, I loved the Country Skillet. Great food and friendly people!

My mother's favorite breakfast location- always prepare her eggs the way she wants them. We have been there probably over 50 times with other family members. Every time, the food is awesome and the service superb! Would recommend to anyone in the area or staying here on vacation.

I've eaten here 3 times, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Each visit was great! Their London Broil is delicious and comes with 2 sides and includes pudding or ice cream! Beef vegetable soups are outstanding. Service is great with 'seasoned', funny, warm, friendly staff. A local favorite and mine too - whenever I'm in Tampa Bay area.
