Quaint, NY swagger, and endearing hosts. We came this afternoon for cappuccino and cannoli. No cappuccino, but great posting location near Cape Coral hospital. The recommendation was for espresso coffee soda. Delish. Sweet, cold and caffeinated. Thin crust NY style pizza. Highly recommended.

Leone's is a gem, hidden in Cape Coral industrial park, off Viscaya. Rose is the owner, who takes great pride in food preparation and cleanliness. She even showed me into the kitchen, which was spotless. Enjoyed a bowl of vegetable tortellini soup, which she insisted I sit down and try, this is after I already bought a container. It was delicious, they have Sicilian pizza, a term used up north instead of deep dish. Mozzarella is home made, as is the sausage...frankly is everything is homemade and fresh to the eye. Oh, this will become a regular stop for me.

Leones is the real deal. Home made Italian food to go or to eat in. The Eggplant rollatini is fantastic and the sausages are the best. I am also a big fan of the lentil soup with fennel sausage and the pasta fagiole. At lunchtime the sell pizza by the slice that reminds me of the best pizza I have had in NYC. They make the mozzarella cheese on site and the marinara sauce is fresh and wonderful. A little hard to find tucked into the capes industrial section but worth it.

Here is my 2 cents on the food. If there was a heaven for a foodie this is the entrance. The pasta fagioli is to die for. The pasta is cooked al dente & the seasoning is a kiss on your lips. My calzone was stuffed with melted gooey cheese tasty pepperoni & mushrooms. My large side dish of dipping sauce was spiced enough with garlic and all other italian herbs it made me cry for the goodness. Now some chit chat. First the bad news, They only accept CASH & local CHECKS. NO DEBIT or CREDIT CARDS. Thats it. It is located in the industrial section of the Cape. A mile or so from the main Post Office and city hall. BUT if you want REAL food, like you would find in Little Italy of San Francisco this is a must find. The owner treated me as if I was a long lost relative. She gave me a personal tour of the deli. Showing me how she made Pasta fagioli. ( it was in its last stage. No secrets revealed, :-( ... ) Everything is made from scratch. I saw the basic material come thru the front door. The aroma of goodness can you guide here . It is not fancy but plenty of room for a pee wee football squad to sit.2 tables out doors. So many choices for you to pick. So little time on the earth. Finally I found a place in SW Florida, where you can experience a classic world cuisine. .It will not break your wallet but fill your heart and belly with joy. If you do not like the italian food here, your taste buds have been corrupted by the big corporations of chain eateries. Come fill your belly with joy!!!

Moving here from NYC you soon realize there are no bagels or Pizza that com close. Most of the pizza here is too sweet, or the crust doesn't have the right consistency.. Or it's a good pizza, just not NY style.. It took 3 years, but we finally found NY pizza. Mama rosa has it. Go for the pizza and go back for the sausage, the soups, the meatballs.

Got a sausage/ricotta pie (because of the picture on the front page) and a meatball sandwich. The owner lady talked me up....told her I was a teacher....so is her daughter.....we talked while I salivated over the smell coming out of the pizza box. Pizza was excellent....wifey even liked it....and she is a pizza snob....from Chicago. I loved the pizza and the meatball parm was perfect. Can't wait to go back. Go and enjoy this excellent FAMILY RUN business in the Cape.

My son and I visited Cape Coral last week to visit my dad who live nearby. I like to find little out of the way places that offer good food and an authentic experience if I can. So I read about this little place here on Trip Advisor and set out to find it. Luckily we had the ol' GPS in the rental car, as it's in a fairly out of the way location....but boy, am I glad we made the effort. When we were getting out of the car I front of the non-descript storefront, we could already hear Mama Leone, in full Italian accent, bantering loudly with other customers....being Italian American, I instantly knew we were in for a treat. All the food is made fresh, and there are a variety of sandwiches and plates to choose from, all very moderately priced, I had the fresh made ravioli - delicious! My son had the lasagna, which he inhaled. And my father and his wife had the eggplant parmigiana....also great We also had a very nice antipasto to start. The sauce was awesome. If I lived there I would definitely buy it myself (which you can, by the quart). It is NY quality - and I say that with no hesitation. As someone who loathes chain-style Italian restaurants, or industrial-prepared sauce, I can say that this sauce is worthy of the family Sunday table, it brought back the childhood memories. Mama is such a character too! She completes the experience! All three generations agreed! We'll definitely be back.

This is a no frills restaurant with great food. Pizza is excellent and as close to New York as your going to get. Subs are also very good. Atmosphere is friendly and non pretentious. Take home some of the home made sausage it's excellent. Wish they were open on Sundays.

For all you New Jersey/New York people that miss "Real Italian" food this is the place to eat! They are originally from New Jersey and had a pizzeria ("Down the Shore") on the Seaside Boardwalk for many years; their pizza is to die for! Most if not all their food is made from scratch; including homemade sausage, soups made with fresh vegetables and many already made take-out Italian specialty meals for your enjoyment in your own home. Unfortunately it is not a dinner restaurant and is hidden between a small commercial area in the Cape which makes it a little hard to find. If you are looking for good food and a very friendly Italian family restaurant, this is the place for you. We found it by accident while shopping in the area and asked if there was a nearby place to eat and we were told by many in the area this was the place to go, we have been eating there ever since.

If you like Italian food, but even more importantly like a family atmosphere, this is your place. Besides having phenomenal homemade sausage, pizza, and meatballs, you will probably have a chance to meet and talk with Angela (the matriarch), her husband, and son who all work there. They also have tons of other types of Italian specialty foods that are hard to find anywhere else in the area. Going there is an original food experience that reminded me of being back in Federal Hill, Providence, RI. If I could give this place 10 stars I would.

I think we found our new pizza spot! It's in kind of an odd location that you wouldn't come across unless you're looking for it..but it's definitely worth stopping in! They close pretty early every day, so definitely be aware of their hours if you plan on ordering or just stopping by and they don't accept credit cards. Definitely more than worth a try though! We ordered a pizza with ricotta and sausage and it was great! It had plenty of toppings, and the ricotta tasted very fresh. The sauce was very good - not too sweet or salty like some. We will definitely be coming back for pizza and to try some of the other items on their menu!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
