I was overly excited for this location to open, since the Tampa restaurants are delicious & service is always great. Nope, don't think so! When you walk into the place. The decor is awful. Like looks they just threw paint on the walls & the most tacky decor they could find. The tv's in the bar area showed the Verizon logo, like they didn't have any service. It felt hot & humid. The smell of the place was awful. After a few minutes of being there, I was already skeptical. But you can't judge a book by its cover. But this one .. Yuck! The service is terrible. The margaritas are beyond gross & the food is horrible. Very disappointing!!

This restaurant opened YESTERDAY ! We were out with our 4 year old twin grandsons. We went to get water for our aquarium and this restaurant was practically next door, so we decided to give it a try since we were going out to lunch anyhow. Greeted at the door and seated immediately, I noticed how attentive the staff was (hope it stays this way). Very tolerant of 2 very loud 4 year olds. The décor is nice and we were very comfy in an extra large booth. Started with warm chips with a carafe of salsa with a small bowl to pour it in It was pretty good, just the right amount of heat for me.(Complimentary) I ordered a lunch special of a taco & an enchilada (both beef, didn't even think to ask for chicken) and came with refried beans and rice. Not crazy about the taco. Think taco bell but with less flavor. The enchilada was ok, but not enough sauce. Rice and beans, well typical Tex Mex out of the can variety, So, not unlike any other chain Mexican food place. Hubby had a 2 enchilada lunch and kids had the taco kid meal (taco, rice and beans). The kids loved it and ate like little piggies and we finished ours as well, but it's nothing extraordinary. The highlight here was the staff. Our waiter explained that they had just opened and were working through the kinks that come with a new place. We assured him we understood, That made him very happy, seems he had already had some ornery customers. Listen folks, this is a chain, you're going to get chain food so please don't expect gourmet and you just may enjoy your visit! Total for the 4 of us $32.00.

Saw the mediocre rating for this place but had to give it a try and see for myself. Chips and salsa was good nothing special. The Margaritas were delicious and only 6 bucks. Beers were 241. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and bean burrito. Not bad. Not the best either. The rest of my table had carne asada dishes which looked awesome. No complaints either. Will give it one more try. Haven't had much luck with the other Mexican restaurants in the Brandon area. It's about the same level as tres amigos I would say.

Service was not the greatest but in their defense, the place was packed. Had to send tacos back because they were cold but server was very apologetic. Honestly though, food was delicious! Came for the BOGO Margaritas and $1 tacos so wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be returning!

One of the managers/co-owners has been opening restaurants around town and closing them without notice or paying proper wages. Previously, Luna's Mexican Restaurant owners are involved here. It's pretty easy to hide under a franchise name when you're screwing employees under another. Don't eat here if you believe in justice. Go to Doña Maria's which is down the street or any other place, but here. Proof of past legal issues: lawsuitdata.com/lawsuit-…

We waited over an hour for our food tonight . The waitress never came over to tell us why. Hot Fajita plates were put in front of us and if we had not known how hot they were we could have been burned because we were not told they were hot. The food was bland. We asked for the manager and he said the kitchen is a mess meaning overwhelmed but he offered us nothing except that it would be better next time. Others were leaving when we left and they said they would never come back and I agree.

No. No. No. Can I give less than one star? I've loved Vallarta's in other cities such as Pensacola Florida. But this one is terrible. Food was watery, salty and tasted premade. Not fresh. I will not be returning to this one.

The one in town n county is much better. This one the server was nice yes, but service was very slow. We went through 2 baskets of chips and still didn't bring us our appetizers. I had to stay on top of them for our food. The food is overpriced you don't get a lot for what you pay for, But yes the food tasted pretty good.

Since going to the Vallarta restaurants in both Temple Terrace and New Tampa, I was really looking forward to trying the one in Brandon We got there early (4:15) and decided to sit outside. It was warm but there was a nice fan and some breeze There was a special of margaritas 2 for the price of 1 They were delicious!! The chips are thicker than I like, but that's a personal preference. The waitress was so nice and had a good sense of humor. The food was good and there was plenty. I shall return often, since it has turned out to be quite good. I had one of their burritos and my sister had their quesadilla. There was enough to bring home some.

OMG!!! I have received better service at a truck stop and the food was horrendous! We went there early in the evening and when we walked in we were ignored by the first two employees. Another employee asked if we were there to eat, nope just thought I'd get my oil changed. They took us to the first booth, dirty.. Salsa and chips on the table and the seats. Next booth, just as bad. Third try, nope that one was dirty too. There were literally ten people in the whole restaurant so there is no excuse for this. We were finally seated and ordered iced tea for my wife and I with a milk for my two year old. About ten minutes went by and some other server asked if we wanted something????????? Really? I thought, one more try. We ordered a soft taco for my daughter to get her started and began to look at the menu. Taco came out... A tortilla with a very tiny amount of ground beef. No cheese. Nothing. Oh yeah, it was cold as well. I asked to pay for he drinks and the taco as I was not wasting another minute in here. They said not to worry and I did not argue! GOOD LUCK IF YOU TRY THIS PLACE FOR YOURSELF, you have been warned.

Went here tonight. We almost didn't go because the reviews were not good but I'm so glad we did. I think they have worked out their service kinks (bad service was what I read in most of the other reviews). We thought it was great authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price. We have been to almost every Mexican restaurant in Brandon and South Tampa. This might be our new favorite. I got the chicken fajitas. Someone else got the carne asada tacos and another got the beef fajitas. All were generous and tasty. Tampa/Brandon is not the place for amazing Mexican like other cities - Austin, San Diego, etc. but this place is one of the best in the area.

The chili relleno was mostly meat and cheese with one small chunk of pepper.... There were a couple of men in non work uniforms going behind the bar grabbing bears without the bar tender ringing up their orders (of course)while one worker was watching, food was very bland and doesn't include rice or beans on some orders, and they do not open on time!! We were going to go on Sunday at noon (when the door sign said they opened), but then they had a sign outside that changed it to 1:00...went back at 1:00, now 2:00 when they apparently close early on Sundays.... I was NOT impressed with this location and will not be surprised if they go out when there are so many other options to go to.

My experience at Vallartas was horrible. My boyfriend and I arrived at 630 pm last Saturday night. We were quickly ushered to our table and served salsa and chips by the bartender. After munching on broken Salsa chips for 35 mins, we still had not been approached by a waitress to take our drink order much less our food order. My boyfriend looked around the restaurant and noticed 14 other tables with people who only had salsa and chips like we did. They had no food either. My boyfriend got up to used the bathroom and happened to looked into the kitchen. He saw 4 people in the kitchen standing around doing nothing. There's not anything to be cooked, there was not a single pot on any stove, and not a morsel of food being prepared or out in the kitchen. 2 of the men were staring out the order intake window doing nothing, while the other 2 men were idly standing as there was nothing to cook. There were at least 14 tables with salsa and chips waiting for food that was never going to arrive. On returning to our table, my boyfriend and decided to leave feeling sorry for the poor suckers waiting for food that was never to come. Check out the other Vallartas locations in Tampa, for we had much better experiences there.

I was a little worried about coming here because of previous reviews. I must say that I had a pleasant experience. The food was tasteful and the service was good. I ordered the enchiladas which were flavorful and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp tacos. They came with a side of pico and spicy sauce which is really spicy. Overall we were satisfied and will come back.

We have enjoyed other Vallarta locations so we thought we would try this one that recently opened in Brandon. Terrible experience. Servers were not attentive. Completely ignored us until they finally got our drinks, 4 people in our party and only 3 got drinks, never returned with the 4th. We ordered queso dip as an appetizer, never received it but it was on our bill. floors were disgusting, and food took a very long time.

Was excited to try this location as I have been to 2 other locations. Upon walking in you are greeted with an awkward odor that lingers the whole time. Took the server quite a while to come take our drink order, little did I know this would be the first of many unpleasant encounters we would have with her. When we got our chips and salsa it consisted of mostly old, oily, broken chips. Our dinner arrives and my dinner was incorrect and we still had no utensils. I had to ask for the menu to explain what I was missing from my order. The food was a lot to be desired, did not have much flavor. We did not see our waitress until she delivered the check so that makes a total of 5 times throughout our dining experience. They were not busy and other waitresses were tending to their tables but not ours. Definitely will not be going back to this location. In the Brandon area you get better service and food at Tres Amigos, a step above this place would be Taco Bell.

We love the Carrollwood location, so we were very excited when a Vallartas opened so close to our new home in Riverview. I think they are still working out some kinks, and there are aspects of the other locations that are missing here, but overall, pretty happy with this new place. The service was good and the waitress was attentive. My go-to menu item arrived without any of the sides (rice and beans), but other than that, no real issues. Will definitely come back and try again...

I've seen the reviews from when they first opened a couples months ago but it seems like they listened and now have things figured out. Our server was great and the food was amazing. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
