The king cut prime rib was truly amazing, however, a bit pricey (ok, very expensive!!!). I would have given the prime rib dinner 5 stars, for taste only... The sweet potato (with butter and cinnamon & sugar) was cooked to perfection and the french fries were very tasty too! Thank goodness our friends had several bogo 1/2 off any entree (max of $10 savings)--- we had to put my shrimp dinner on another bill otherwise the 1/2 off would have been taken off my cheaper shrimp dinner rather than the more expensive steak dinners (there were 3 of us). I had the char-broiled shrimp with rice pilaf- I would give that (maybe) a 2-3 star rating- I got 6 "finger-sized" charbroiled shrimp, which were pretty good, but WAY to expensive for what you get--- I got the early bird special for 15.95 and it just wasn't enough shrimp for the price... I saved $3 from the regular dinner. I can't imagine paying $18.95 for that same dinner! Pass on the rice pilaf, it was bland, bland, bland! I added alittle butter from my entree and lemon which did help a bit! The Cesar salad was a nice sized salad and pretty good, and the bread that came along with it was also pretty good. I got the white sangria (bogo drinks) which was very good, $7.95. The waitress was very nice and helpful... My husband even commented to her how nice it was to see a waitstaff smile :) The atmosphere is what I would consider a 2star... Needs a lot of updating!!! Also, the menu prices on Yelp and online are incorrect, be forewarned!!!

Great local staple in the community! I'm a huge fan of their nachos, the chili is thick and rich! Great flavor! I was just there, and got their prime rib French dip. The meat was tender and flavorful (no fatty bits, which I can't stand) I ordered it with grilled onions and Swiss cheese! Perfect with the au jus. I also really like their fries, they've got good crunch and flavor. The only downfall is the atmosphere of the place. It's too much like a dark and dingy bar, and the staff isn't overly friendly. But I always get my orders to go, the food is worth it!

Great seafood and steak and Jesse's! Had the stuffed mushroom appetizer, which was just amazing. Lots of crab and a very tasty bernadaise sauce. Then decided to go the least path to healthy and went with a soup instead of salad. Had the crab chower, and simply out... I loved it. For the main course I had the prime rib. Although I request medium, pretty sure it was more like medium well to well done (but I rarely like sending stuff back, so just went with it). Prime rib was very tasty. Great meal at Jesse's!!!

Well this was interesting to say the least. We have lived in Brandon for 13 years now and never tried this resataurant before for a number of reasons. I usually have not had good experiences with restaurants that have "been around forever". And frankly...the photos I have seen never really appealed to me. Well...it was getting close to New Years and we wanted to try something different without travelling too far...so Jesse's it was! I did remember to clip a coupon before i left the house for a Buy one entree, get 2nd half price.... We noticed the A/C units in the windows when we walked up to the building at 4pm on Saturday and I made a mental note to remember that for the summertime. Maybe our first mistake was sitting at the center bar when we went in. We often like to sit at the bar of a restaurant the first time we are there so that we can dialogue with the bartender about the food, etc...We could tell right away that the bartender either wasn't a pleasant person or was not in a good mood...merely asking us what we wanted, setting our drinks down, yelling to a waitress to "watch these two", and then disappearing into a back room for the next 25 mins, without so much as a 'by your leave". The center bar is the congregation for the entire staff of waiters and waitresses and I heard more about the personal lives of these folks in 15 mins then I ever knew about my daughter during all of her high school years. There was a common theme among them though, they were all afraid of our bartender and considered her mean! One waitress finally took pity on the only couple sitting at the bar and asked us if we needed anything. I stated that we would love a menu. She was very pleasant and told us that our bartender was on her cigarette break. After we decided on our order and since the bartender hadn't returned, I ordered the 12-oz filet medium-rare, with baked potato and caesar salad (29.50) and my husband ordered the 22-oz Delmonico medium-rare, with baked potato and New England clam chowder (29.50). It's not often we can find a good clam chowder and this one was no different from most. I did like the dressing for the caesar salad however. Our bartender finally came back when we were finishing our soup and salad, just in time to bring us the main course. We had heard the steaks here were dry and I have to admit that two big steaks cooked medium rare had no juices in the plate...Also be aware that these steaks arrive in sizzling/hot stainless steel plates...which if you like rare or medium rare you will not like as they continue cooking the steaks. My husband's steak was ok but not great for the price. I could tell my filet was a good cut, however there was no flavor to it..just a big chunk of meat thrown on a grill and then on a plate. I asked the bartender if we had to order the steaks seasoned, and she said that they already were, but if we wanted a garlic or garlic or butter flavor we needed to ask for that ahead of time. She went and got some extra seasoning in a cup and brought it out to me. I decided to just bring it home at that point and have my husband re-season and recook it since it arrived pretty rare anyway. I have to say the baked potato was the best I have had in years...what a great flavor. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a server who ignores you finally starts talking to you and being nice when he/she is getting ready to give you the check...and Julie was right on cue. As she hands us the check she starts talking to us for the first time...smiling, etc. I looked at the check and after having deducted the coupon I gave her, our food bill was 58.15..and then after taxes, the total was 63.26. Now my husband and I are very genrous tippers and I know very well to tip on the actual amount. So I wasn't very happy that in addition to the non-service we received from Julie, she also found it necessary to handwrite on the receipt in pen to add back on the 14.75 that the coupon took off the check so that we would know the actual price we should tip on. However...she tacked on the $14.75 to the price AFTER taxes had already been added in..so it was an inflated amount. I took a photo and am going to try to attach to this email. At that point, I was considering calling over a manager, but my husband had just returned from the rest room...where he was so grossed out he wanted to leave right away...so in the spirit of xmas and New Years...we gave Julie her $14 tip, cut a path through the congregation of servers and left. On our way out...we encountered busloads of older people starting to come into the restaurant..some in walkers, some with caregivers...so I guess that is where the majority of their business comes from. My rule of thumb is always to try a restaurant twice. The trick is going to be convincing my husband that it needs to happen in his lifetime.

Great food. Decent prices. Other than being crowded most times this place is worth the amazing food.

Ok, so I went through several Yelp reviews on Jesse's before just taking the plunge and experiencing it myself. I had zero expectations because it seemed-- based on the comments I read-- this place is either a hit or miss. When we arrived the parking lot was full. My hubby dropped me off at the front so I could put our name on the list. The inside was packed and there wasn't a big waiting area. She said if we sat outside they would come and get us when our name was up. Unfortunately it began to rain so we made our way to the bar and found two chairs to sit at while we waited for our turn. It only took approximately 15 minutes before our table was ready. We were seated at a Window in the back corner. The rumors are true. This place is not fancy by any means. The decor is simple, plain and probably hasn't been touched in decades. The prices were a tad high but Jesse's allows people to share for a small fee of $2.00. So we split the 16 oz New York Strip for $24.00. This included bread, a baked potato, and a side salad. I also ordered an additional side of (4) grilled shrimp Greek style for $7. Jeremy was our waiter and he was so friendly and observant. He made sure we were taken care of while we waited for our order. The food was served fairly quickly and as requested. I must say many steakhouses mess up and serve the steak either too well done or still "mooing" but the chefs at Jesse's grilled our steak to Medium perfection. Now onto the downside... The steak was underwhelming in the flavor department. I kept trying to add butter and pepper to it hoping it would satisfy my pallet, but to my disappointment it did nothing. I can only imagine if I had ordered a top dollar filet mignon for myself and it tasted as bland. The shrimps on the other hand were pretty tasty and the seasoning almost reminded me of a Ramon packet. Not necessarily a bad thing... I'd probably order them again. The bottom line... Had we ordered our own individual meals, it would have cost us close to $60.00 when I feel the approximate value of the meal was closer to $40/$45.00 However, because we shared an entree our check was under $40 so we left feeling satisfied. With this strategy, we will more than likely return in the future.

We heard a lot about this restaurant and wanted to see if it was as good as we heard. I had the the Prime Rib,loaded sweet potato, and claim chowder. The Prime Rib was good, but the chowder was maybe the best I've had. Really creamy and thick. Customer service was really good. I would recommend this place just to try.

We've been to Jesse's many times and have never had a bad meal. This place is a throwback to an era long gone with all the casual dining chains we now have. Prime rib is the specialty here. It's not the best you'll ever have but it is very good. Paired with a baked tater and some dinner mushrooms and you could be eating next to Sammie or the Bingster or even the Chairman of the Board himself. This the kind of place Jesse's is. Old school. This is not a bad thing. Think you'll be lost in a sea of oldsters here, think again. J's packs em in across all age groups. Want a solid meal, no frills? Jesse's is your place.

As a long time resident of Brandon, I have been told it was a shame that I had never been to Jesse's. I went on a Thor'sday. It was raining, the wait was short. The service was GREAT. I had the King Cut Prime rib. It is advertised as a 16ounce cut, I am sure it was at least 20. My wife had the 16ounce New York strip, I advised her to take the cowboy cut bone-in ribeye from the specials board. Both the prime rib and the NYstrip were served with sauteed button mushrooms and two sides. We both opted for a side salad and I had the green beans and she had the steak and potato soup. My wife enjoyed her salad, one of the best balsamic vinaigrette dressings she has ever had (I am fairly certain it was a premade) I had blue cheese dressing, it was very vinegary probably a bottled roka, there were no bits o' cheese in the dressing. The steak and potato soup was a bit on the salty side, but good. The green beans were flavored with bacon, but in actuality string beans that had not been unstrung. The NY strip steak was the toughest thing my wife or I had ever encountered. I am hoping that was just a bad cut and not the norm. It tasted great, but not worth the effort to chew. That Prime Rib however is the best I have had in a very long time! The au jus tasted natural, not like some overly complicated concoction of liquid smoke and soy sauce mixed with beef bouillon. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The cut was about an inch thick and had a herb rubbed "burnt edge" all around. There was a bit of silverskin still attached on one side, but no grissle in the intermuscular-fat. My only complaint about the main dish was the sauteed button mushrooms. They were way overdone, tough and tasted only of salt. Seriously, if you live or work anywhere near Brandon, go here, at least for the Prime Rib. The king Cut was only $25, and that alone is worth every penny.

The food was good considering the location, however the wait time was over an hour. Four two adults and two children we spent over $100.. I think it's too much for this little restaurant.

My family and I have been coming to Jesse's since the mid 80's. The quality of food and service has always been superb. The staff is very friendly and everything on the menu is absolutely delicious! If you want to try an original Brandon steak and seafood favorite, then you need to visit Jesse's.

I love old school restaurants. No frills, good food. This is Jesse's. I've eaten nothing but their prime rib here, it's our go to place for that. Queen cut is more than enough, perfectly cooked, lots of au jus with mushrooms and a backed potato. Yummy. Also comes with a dinner salad or cup of soup. I opted for the crab bisque. Rich creamy and a little bit of crab...but I loved it. And their homemade pineapple upside down cake...YUM ! Service is great, never a complaint about that here. This is definitely a throw back place. It's dark, dingy, packed with locals, and ohhhhh, the stories this old place could tell. Love it!

You have to love Jesse's. First - this place is not fancy. Imagine a mashup of an old bennigans and a hoolihans, with some really bad old pool hall light fixtures. Next, chances are good you'll be the youngest diner there, so it's good for the ego. Don't order the escargot, seafood bisque, or other 'fancy' things. or the wine. They shouldn't even try. BUT - order the prime rib, and you'll be very very happy. It's fantastic. And cheap. Don't worry about the slightly brown uninspired salad. Just wait for the loaf of squishy bread, and the quivering slab of perfectly cooked prime rib and stuff yourself silly. We've never had bad service either - all of the waitstaff have been friendly and attentive. If you're really feeling it, go before 6pm - early bird special baby! - and have the prime rib for 17 bucks.

I really love Jesse's. I've been eating here for 20 years and I've been having consistently great food for 20 years. I can always count on having a good steak. Their shrimp entrees come with the plumpest shrimp around. Great service and affordable drinks. I would definitely recommend Jesse's!

My husband & I love this place! The food as well as the service is always great. It's not fancy, the decor has not been updated since probably the early 90's, but that's kinda of the charm of this place. It's an older crowd that's been coming here for years. We always get the escargot and it's always wonderful. I love the button mushrooms at the bottom. So good! They have a great prime rib, but our last visit we decided to venture from our usual and I got the long beach cod. A grilled piece of cod topped with crab meat and a creamy seafood sauce. Delicious! My husband ordered the bone in rib eye which he said was good, but not seasoned very well & next time he will stick to what he knows and order the prime. All in all it was a good experience and we will definitely be back!

Yum!! The steak was perfect. I got the prime rib. There was so much food with the meal, I took half of it home with me. On Sundays they do a prime rib special, it will be a bit of a wait for a table but worth it! 2 for 1 drink specials and full bar. I'll be back.

I really really wanted to keep coming back here because the Prime Rib is good. Unfortunately a restaurant is only as good as its service and their service is sooo bad. I have now been here 5 or 6 times and every single time, I wanted to walk out from the horrible service. The last time I was there, the service was so horrid that I did walk out and finally swore I would never ever be back no matter how good the food is. So here is the story of the last time we stayed. The hostess was told we were a party of 10. It was actually 11, so our mistake, we miscounted by 1 so when number 11 didn't have a chair, she was told she would have to wait 45 minutes for her own table that we could not add a chair. Outrageous! Overhearing this, a table behind us donated a chair which we snuck in by all scooting over a little bit. But the server didn't like this and told on us to the manager. The manager treated us like criminals but finally decided to serve us "this one time" . Now the story of when we left, Our next visit was my grandfather's birthday. My grandparents lived in Brandon over 20 years ago and recently moved back. They recalled the good days of Jesse's and were determined to give them another chance. So we called days ahead of time and were told by the manager, they would only accommodate our party of 18 if we came in before 6 pm. (Whats the difference between if 18 people sit together or apart?, you are still selling the same amount of food! ) We knew it was crazy but we bend to them anyways and show up very early for dinner. When we got there, we were told, they do not serve large parties at all. We were completely willing to wait for tables but they didn't even offer to split us into two smaller parties or try to accommodate us in anyway. After a lot of tears from my grandmother and a manager who did not care at all, we left. We went instead to a restaurant that was run by professionals who didn't even care that we didn't call ahead. Most places are happy for your business, Jesse's seems to be burdened by it. I will not give them a single penny ever again.

This page is waaaay overpriced, dingy, and just feels dirty. The food is OK but the pricing is so far out of sync with the quality of the experience that it is impossible to recommend Jesse's. This is the kind of place Food Network's Restaurant Impossible could do wonders for.

    (2)
  • Logan K.

This place should be on Restaurant Impossible. It's run down, the decor is tacky, beaten up, miss-matched and cheap. It's really dark...probably to hide how dingy it is. Everything was sticky. I ordered a burger medium and got a charred, tasteless hockey puck. My mom and aunt got the baked crab soup, which before we ordered, we misheard each other and called it baked crap soup. It turned out to be a better description. The crab stuffed mushrooms were heavy on the stuff and light on the crab. The servers were super nice though.

  • Lawson G.

The server was pleasant and efficient. The salad was not very flavorful. The entrees ( Icelandic cod) were well done but rather bland. The background radio 'noise' was intrusive. A 'twofor'- first and last visit.

Extremely disappointed. We are new in town and had several recommendation's. It did not live up to the hype. It started off bad and got worse. The margarita was horribly sweet. The bread was stale and chewy in the wrong way.I think they must have reheated the loaf we received three or four times. The dressing on my Caesar salad was horrible, way too much mayo. A server brought out dinner and set it on a tray for our server to serve us, but it sat there for quite some time before it was given to us. When I finally got my prime rib, which they are known for, it was suppose to be medium rare and because they serve it in a sizzling platter it came overcooked before waitress finally brought it to our table. It was dry and flavorless. Really nothing good to say. was very overpriced and will not waste my money to go there again.

We always try to find a local restaurant and this was recommended by our hotel. It is a great steakhouse. My New York strip and my wife's prime rib were cooked to perfection. The crab stuffed mushroom appetizer was great with generous amounts of perfectly spiced crab. Excellent drinks. The margaritas were almost as good as the ones my wife makes and hers are the best. The waitress was a bit slow warming up but by the end of dinner she had engaged and was friendly. If you are in the area, don't pass it up!

I have been coming here for 20 years and have always enjoyed the experience. Their happy hour and margaritas are great. I don't think I've ever had anything bad. The Jesse's special is a terrific filling meal and priced right. Steaks are great and I think their filet is consistently one of the best.

We came here for a family dinner chosen by the matriarch of the family. The food at Jesse's is absolutely atrocious and the prices simply not in line with the quality of the food. The food tastes mostly as if it is precooked and prefrozen, purchased by a restaurant supply company. For example, someone in our group ordered the crabcakes for 16 dollars. We were quite amazed to see 3 very large hamburger patty sized cakes arrive and were of course, not at all surprised to see that it was composed mostly of breading and bore very little crab taste, unless they had inadvertently spelled "krabcake" with a "c". I have been to Jesse's 4-5 times in the past 10 years and am amazed at the prices they charge when there are restaurants in the Brandon area who charge similarly yet provide fresh, high quality ingredients (see Grillsmith or Bonefish Grill). However Jesse's does not seem to struggle for fans of their overpriced, bland, and over greased food if the packed room of senior citizens and overweight clients are any indication. I have no problems paying good money for food but I hate to leave ill because my stomach is full of badly prepared, greasy foods and making we wish I had just to McDonald's in the first place. The only one positive I can say is that their staff is friendly and sincere, if not as well trained as other family casual restaurants in the area; i.e.,Ruby Tuesday or Chili's.

Love Jessie's Restaurant, the food is always great and so is the service. The Jessie's Special is awesome, basically a hamburger salad. Everything is fresh and hot.

I really love Jesse's. I've been eating here for 20 years and I've been having consistently great food for 20 years. I can always count on having a good steak. Their shrimp entrees come with the plumpest shrimp around. Great service and affordable drinks. I would definitely recommend Jesse's!

Love it!

The server was pleasant and efficient. The salad was not very flavorful. The entrees ( Icelandic cod) were well done but rather bland. The background radio 'noise' was intrusive. A 'twofor'- first and last visit.

The food was great. Portions were huge and meals priced right. The burgers were huge and they gave you a ton of fries. The service was great, fast and efficient. The bread they serve was amazing. It was busy on a Saturday night but we still had no wait and great service. We will definitely be back again and would recommend this place to others too. It feels very old timey and love the homey feel.

Our first visit, and nothing short of excellent! French onion soup was very good and not too salty. Neither my wife nor I cared overly much for the Caesar salad, but kids liked the house salads. Our prime rib orders ran the gamut from medium rare to well done, and all were correctly cooked, and very tasty and juicy - even the well done, which they popped on the grill for a minute. The sirloin steaks were also excellent - properly cooked and well seasoned. The key lime pie was just tart enough. This is not a budget restaurant, but the meals are well worth the prices. Our server Dylan was relatively new, but took great care of us and is worth asking for by name. We'll be back!

We have never tried Jesse's before and we've lived here for 19 years, so we decided to give it a try today. the inside is very old, we ordered our countries in the back of the restaurant where we sat and we had the lobster bisk which we had to send back because it was very thick and had a fishy smell. I had one of the steakd and my wife had a steak sandwich. Neither of the meals were that great and we did not try to prime rib I wish we had needless to say I do not believe we will be back. The service was great

Both the food and service here are good. The thing that stands between a four or five star rating is the facility. Jesse's remains basically unchanged since my first visit over 20 years ago. That's both good and bad. Good in that the staff members are friendly and the food very good. Bad in that the building, tables, chairs and finishes show their age. Even the exterior is in dire need of a makeover. Old and worn conveys a sense of unclean even if that's not the case...it's the perception.

Went to Jesse's for lunch there were about five tables taken and several people at the bar. We were seated immediately she took our drink order came back went over the specials with us, left came back took our order. The food came out promptly and hot my chicken cordon blue was piping hot and fantastic.
