If you want Mexican food this is the place to go. They have a large selection and the prices are just right for everything you get. Their chips and queso are delicious! You can customize your order to what you want in your entree. The service is great and the food comes out quickly. They have a full sauce bar with so many options from sweet sauces to extra hot burn your mouth sauces. It's fun to try the different ones to see what you like. I always make sure I stop here when I'm in the area.

Meh... the variety of hot sauce is the best aspect of this place. The food is a step or two above Taco Bell. The issue with reviewing chains is that the experience at various individual locations is essentially the same... A phenomenon I am referring to as the "McDonalds Effect," though I'm sure there is an actual name for it. My comments extend to TJ Flats as a whole, not just this location... As a representation of the franchise, this place does well... As a whole, I wish TJ Flats would spice up their chicken and steak a little more and make it a little less chewy, and not rely solely on the hot sauce bar to provide flavor to the food.

Tried Tijuana Flats for lunch for the first time with the family. We were quite pleased with our experience. Food wise this is on par with a Moe's. I had the Megajuana Beef and Bean burrito which was plenty to fill me up and it was quite tasty. Love the hot sauce bar. What really prompted me to write this review was the service. From the moment we walked into the time we left were being taken care of. Very friendly, attentive, and helpful.

Cute place. Great, friendly service. Food was blah. I had a carnitas burrito and my hubby had steak burrito. I didn't love the flavor of the carnitas but that may just be preference. Very little meat in either burrito, mostly filled with lettuce. Queso was like cheap nacho cheese. We also tried 3 of the sauces at the bar and didn't like any of them. Once again, we really liked the people and service, but I would not pay money for the food.

I have never had a hot meal here. The barely-there cheese is never completely melted. While sometimes fresh, the ingredients do not appear to be the best quality. The service is great, while the food is always inconsistent. My order is inaccurate every time I visit--- for example; today my entire appetizer was missing from my take-out order. Luckily, I caught it before driving back to work. Last time queso was missing from my nachos. Time before that salsa was missing... the list goes on and on. It is too bad because I really love the atmosphere and the staff. People from work will still make me come here...

why does getting a burrito have to be such an ordeal? geeeeezzzzz its not like its fine dining? it a frigging burrito.... it should be easy! why so skimpy on the ingredients for the price? i guess food cost on lettuce, cheese and sour cream is running high these days. the ingredients in a burroito are just simple cheap stuff. its not like it was filet mignon or caviar! meals were messed up on take out order! then our receipt had no totals? how do you split an order that way? had to call and get totals which they say are never on the receipt. there is a level of deceptiveness to this in my opinion. when i called back i found that i had been over charged. my advice, do not make take out orders here, because you will end up getting messed up meals and overcharged. chipolte is cheaper and more generous!

Called and ordered four soft tacos. Did not want any sides or anything else and I got charged $14.00? Un acceptable! !! Called and spoke to a manager (female ) who completely blew me off! I mean come on really! !! $14.00 for four tacos??? Such BS! Guess you have to be either a pro athlete or star to get good SERVICE! I hope the owner or manager will get in touch with me! Felt completely insulted when called.

I have been a customer for many years at this chain. The new menu layout is absolutely horrible and ordering was confusing. The food is good as always but just bring back the Tijuana flats I've grown to know and love.

Taco Tuesday is probably one of my favorite nights of the week. But only if we go to Tijuana Flats for dinner! The food is excellent and the service is too. It is usually pretty busy when we go, but the service is great and the wait is never too long. The girls are great with providing our food quickly and made to order. They even come around several times during our visit to refill our drinks and get us more queso if we need it. The manager is always out with the customers to ensure that we have a great experience and to help clean up the tables when we are done.

Food was basic mexican, good but not great. Staff was very helpful with a high chair, drink refills, and quick removal of empty plates.

Another fake Mexican place. Located ironically in Bradenton, which has exceptional Mexican food at places like Acapulco Tropica. Tried the fish tacos and honestly there were two postage stamp sized pieces of deep fried in each. Instead they were jammed with salad and onions. Very disappointed. To be fair, tried it a second time, chicken enchiladas. Dull tasting and they had an odd bitter taste, maybe the oil used to cook them in? Tried the one in Sarasota a few times opposite Sarasota Memorial Hospital and it was good each time.

Good stuff here at Tijuana Flats. I've been waiting for this place after going to the Tallahassee location a few months ago. We ordered a starter of the Tijuana Triple chips and queso, salsa, and guacamole. The salsa is fresh with no real heat, the guac was decent and the queso was pretty good. Although I prefer the white queso, it was ok. Moe's has the best queso for this type of restaurant. I had the blackened chicken chimichanga - all the way, with even more queso dumped on it (yay!!). My husband a three tacos that were huge. FYI - Tuesday is Taco Day. 2 tacos with chips and a drink for 4.99.

Ok to start if you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant keep looking. That being said Tijuana Flats hands down is the best fresh Mexican fast food (for lack of a better term). A great value for lunch with taco Tuesday's and throwback Thursday's. The staff is very friendly and does a great job with first time guests explaining the menu and hot sauce bar. Hot sauces range from sissy sauces to death wish with a variety of flavors in each leave. The also have bottles for sale if you find the one you can't live without.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
