Delightful restaurant with the nicest and most accommodating staff. The food is the best Indian food I've had. They serve three sauces with their bread and you can use these on your food. One was a cilantro sauce that was absolutely delicious. I loved that our meal was placed on heating pots so it was always warm. The food was very good and the restaurant looked very clean. I will be back.

Went here for lunch buffet. It was ok. 9 or 10 foods to choose from. Only had 3 meat dishes and all were chicken. The food was bland for Indian food. The raita was not good and the rice pudding was bland and cold. Would like to try their regular menu, but probably won't go back here.

This place is awesome. The food is really great, the people are fabulous. I've been there for the lunch buffer, which I particularly love because they include spicy dishes, which most Indian places do not. I've ordered off the menu too and it has all been excellent. Korma and Vindaloo are my favorites. Somosas are crispy outside delicious inside. Naan is spot on. This placed is owned and operated by a mother daughter team and they are sweet and lovely, and all the staff are super friendly. Go there, I compel you.

3.5 Stars Service: Excellent. Our waiter was very awesome and attentive and helpful. One person in our group ordered a mild dish that was actually quite spicy, too much so for her to eat. They prepared another one that came out perfectly mild. We really appreciated that. (All of our other mild dishes were cooked perfectly, but if you don't like spicy food, just be sure to clarify up front.) Some of the bus staff were a little too eager to clear our plates before we were even done but I guess they are just doing their job. Food/Price: It was pretty good and you can choose your meat or pick one of the plentiful vegetarian options. But an entree is gonna run you at least $15 with meat. Indian food always seems to be a bit on the pricier side and I'm not sure why. It's nice every now and then but I don't think I can justify making it a regular habit. But that's just me. They don't give you much rice. We got one dish for four people and had to keep asking for more. I thought that was the basis of most Indian dishes? I would have thought eat person would get a bowl of rice with their meal. Overall it was a positive experience but I can't say it stood out among other Indian restaurants I've been to.

Best Indian food I ever had! Honestly incredible. Didn't give 5 stars because service wasn't very good. They were very nice just seemed very disorganized. Sever brought wrong beer, food took a while to come, then our naan bread was sent to another table...but I will be back because food was amazing!!!

I am just happy there's an Indian restaurant in the area. The food is okay, the staff is nice, the restaurant is new and clean. They offer a lunch buffet that's a nice way for people to sample Indian cuisine if they have not tried it before. My favorites are the chicken dishes (tikka masala and butter), lamb vindaloo (spicy), lentils or other bean dishes, and palaak paneer (cheese and spinach). Make sure you get naan (bread) too. I'm not a huge fan of the food here. It's not bad by any means, but I don't "mmm" with every bite like I do with other Indian restaurants I've been to. The lunch buffet reminds me a bit of a cafeteria. I could be wrong, but I think it was even set up on large fold out tables. Just a little too sterile and unappetizing, but I could also be comparing it to you-know-where's buffet. Definitely worth giving the place a try if you like Indian or are curious. I plan to go back and find my favorite dish...so far lamb vindaloo is in the lead.

Great little place. Family owned and they are always so kind to all of their patrons. The lunch buffet is great with nice selections. I really like this place it is our go to when we want Indian.

My wife and I went here for lunch. Neither of us have EVER had Indian food before so we thought we could try to branch out. We walked in and the friendliness of the staff was amazing. The lunch buffet was priced at $10 and WELL worth the money! The butter chicken and the tandoori chicken were great. The naan was so good and free with the buffet. The curry chicken was the star of the meal though along with the lemon rice. The waitress was on the ball filling our drinks and removing our plates. The manager came by to ask how we were doing. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals and having a good time. It was busy but there wasn't a wait. After 6 hours of eating there, I am still full! I will be back many times!

had lunch buffet with 3 other persons today. food was ok / good, nothing extraordinary exciting. But their just plain sweet or unsweetened iced tea is $ 3.00 ! I found this very expensive. was an expensive lunch for 2 persons ( each couple paid 1 check ) with tip it came to $ 34. quite pricey for a lunch.

I ate here on a Sunday afternoon. The buffet is great - biryani and regular basmati cooked perfectly, with a great selection of things to go on top. Space/decor is really beautiful for an affordable restaurant, but very noisy when I went. My guess is it would be perfect for a casual date night (assuming other tables aren't too noisy). Service okay, just satisfactory. I was really looking forward to having some authentic chai, but was sorely disappointed. Tasted like creamy cinnamon cereal milk (weird description, I know) - was hoping for something with more spice and earthiness. Overall, a recommendation - great food at a good price.

Only 4 stars because the prices are more than my usual place, but I'll be honest in that I know the prices are for the quality of dining in haha. But I ordered take out so alas it was unfulfilled. I will award the last star when I finally get a chance to dine in. Wow though?? This is literally the BEST lamb vindaloo I've ever eaten, I can't believe I've been skipping out on this place all these years. I'm so sorry, self. Also the best samosas. I usually dislike the veggie samosas because of the spices but I actually ate it haha. Even though its kind of a little bit of a stiff looking place, they're real nice about take out even when you dont call ahead and I felt almost comfortable waiting awkwardly at the bar for 20 minutes haha. I honestly don't know what to say, I'm so picky about food in general and I've been so unsatisfied the past year or two with my indian food options. I can't excuse myself for ignoring this place, I honestly cant. It may have been the area honestly (a lot of touristy restaurants and stuff, lower quality food and the like). Never again though!! Dont assume it'll be bad just because its next to five guys like I did. You will regret it.

Came back a second time and it was 5 star! Get the butter chicken. You won't be sorry! Everything about this place was excellent tonight- food, service, ambiance. We had the same waiter we had last time (it was his first night then) and he was spot on with the service and the menu. Place was PACKED! I see why

I deleted my former 3 star review mainly due to BAD service about 9 months ago. I love Tandoors buffet lunch, we Foodies can try a little of everything and everything is VERY good. The NAAN bread is to die for and I love the mint chutney. Service is better but slow.

  • Douglas K.

I love Indian food...had it in at least ten or twelve countries. The Tandoor Resturant is passable. I agree with some of the others: the sauces lack the wonderful complexity one hopes to savor in Indian restaurants. I had Chicken Tikka and the sauce just lacked intensity. The lamb was fine, but you don't go to Indian restaurants for the meat, you go for the wonderful sauces. The Baingan Bharta was slightly better, but just not quite there either. This place would serve as a good introduction to Indian food. One might want to try the lunch buffet as it would provide a greater assortment of dishes to try. I will eat no doubt eat here again, I just wish it's food rated at least four stars.

Lunch Buffet is really good. Lots of choices and reasonable price. Service is also generally quite good.

  • Alex P.

I've been to Tandoor for their lunch buffet multiple times and it's always fantastic. Indian food is my absolute favorite and the lunch buffet is an affordable way to sample a bunch of different dishes. The buffet always has a bunch of different options - including at least 3-4 vegetarian dishes. The service is friendly, but the lunch buffet is very busy on the weekends! The food is always delicious. The spice is dialed down a little bit to appeal to a wider buffet crowd, but the dishes are still packed with flavor. Tandoor is a must when looking for a flavorful and affordable lunch option.

    (5)
  • Allan D.

Tandoor is a poor example of Indian food. The normally complex and delightful flavors of Indian cuisine are simplified into something bland, expected and capable of appealing to a less adventurous culinary crowd. Some of the food was overcooked and freshness was questionable. Service is nothing to complain about but noise level is very high and the space is echoy.

$10 per person for lunch buffet. My sister, 13 year old nephew and I had 1-2 plates each. Two different staff members asked me 3x if I was done with my plate when I was still eating. It was annoying because they kept asking us. The food was average and proof is illustrated by my teenage nephew only having one plate of food. I have had stomach "issues" all afternoon and I'm going to blame the restaurant. I am generally very healthy and kind in my reviews so this is hard to post. Food- average, service-average, atmosphere- slightly above average, price-reasonable.

Stopped in here with my mom for lunch hoping they would have a buffet because we needed to hit the road. We knew we picked the right place when we walked into the packed restaurant. All of the food was fresh( it had to be with all of the people) and very delicious. Our server was nice and gave us a free garlic naan with our yelp check in. We each got a mango lassi which was very good and great for the spicy dishes. I would definitely come back if I lived in this area.

    (5)
  • Tiki A.

This place is busy on a Saturday night(25min wait for 2 ppl).but we went over to Total Wine store and by the time we got back out buzzer was already buzzing. Our server was accommodating with giving a sample of the Lassi drinks before ordering. I tried sweet(pretty good)and salted(not for us..salty yogurt drink)but I loved the mango lassi! I ordered the chicken Madras curry, medium spice. I considered mine bland and wasn't spicey at all. My bf had the Do K-something (don't remember the dish) and he said his was fine but not spicey either. Our food did come out fast and was happy for that.

Amazing authentic Indian Food with fast efficient service for Lunch Buffet even when it was packed. Very impressed for a meal for under $15. Repeat customer.

Amazing food. Nice restaurant. The lunch buffet is the best. Great value! I love the butter chicken and the naan bread is to die for. You pay $30 for 2 people (tip included) and get stuffed with great Indian healthy food :) I've come for dinner too and the presentation is amazing.

The naan was under cooked. The buffet options were interesting and tasty. Items marked spicy were. The tandoori chicken was moist. One of the best un-sweet teas I've ever had. Unfortunately won't be coming back as not much time after leaving had violent stomach "issues".

  • Elaine A.

We are huge fans of Indian food and were looking for a restaurant near Anna Maria Island. We tried Tandoor today in Sarasota (near the new mall) and were so pleased. The buffet was wonderful, nice choices (although I wish they offered the curry chicken in medium spice), fresh, reasonably priced, and nicely presented. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, with good wait staff. The only downside the the commute there.... hopefully they will open another restaurant close by.

My favorite spot for Indian food in Sarasota. I've only been here for lunch, but I've been here many times. The lunch buffet is enormous and always fresh. The buffet always has several kinds of chicken and at least a half-dozen vegetable dishes. It's a great value, and a good way to introduce newcomers to Indian cuisine.

  • Daniella F.

Awesome! 1st time trying Indian cuisine and am completely satisfied with the food, the curry was on point and service was very good too! Will be coming back again

  • David F.

Nice room, very good service and solid, if a bit safe, Indian cuisine. Great starters and deliciously salty Indian pickles are available. My daughter enjoyed her butter chicken, and my chaana masala was very good though very mild for a dish that I requested as "hot". I can imagine they don't ordinarily make the food truly Indian spicy for the local non-Indian cried.

  • Andy D.

Awesome place. period. The Saag is the most delicious Indian entree I have ever eaten and the garlic na'an was terrific as well. The service was good, but the waiter was new and not yet familiar with the items, but that was OK, he was trying. This was my wife's first time and she became hooked. We cannot say enough good. Try it out if you haven't had Indian before and get the Saag, you won't be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Michelle T.

Their lunch buffet is really great. It's $10 a person, excluding Sundays when it is a few bucks more. Everything is fresh and well seasoned. The Butter Chicken is some of the best I have ever had. Lots of great vegetarian dishes too. The only bummer is that Tandoor's tandoori chicken leaves much to be desired.

    (5)
  • Anum A.

This is the closest place to me that has halal food. The chicken makhani is really good, I keep coming back for it. My husband really likes the lamb biryani.

  • JEREMY G.

My first foray into Fine Indian Cuisine and I feel like I've been duped. The food was meh and the service was truly lacking. The only thing that saved the entire experience was the good beer and the great company. I would t suggest going here unless you're going to check out the buffet.

  • Rebecca R.

From out of town. I eat at lots of indian places. This was pretty good. Tandoori chicken was fresh and tender. The naan bread was super fresh/ hot and absolutely perfect!!! A good but not huge selection but Something for everyone. Some of the best naan I have had. Service was good. Place is clean. I would come back in a heart beat.

    (5)
  • Sam W.

I haven't had Indian food for many years and tried this place recently. I had the lunch buffet and it was mostly just bland. There wasn't enough spice and flavor to the food.

    (2)
  • Cherie W.

Finally, I order a spicy dish in a restaurant and it is actually spicy! The chicken tikka masala ordered "hot" was perfection. I actually could have done without the chicken so next time I will get it just with veggies. The sauce was perfect and I couldn't get enough. The garlic naan was excellent as well. We will be back!

We visited Tandoor on a Friday night around 7:30 pm. It is nicely decorated and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was busy, but there is a nice waiting area inside the restaurant and the hostess apologized for the wait a couple of times. We got seated and ordered. Though the food came out quickly, the rest of the service was pretty slow. We got garlic naan and I got chicken makhani medium spice, and my husband got chicken tikka masala mild spice. First, a couple of large crackers and chutney came out as an appetizer, it was really tasty. Delicious chutney. Then came entrees; our dishes were so similar (and it was my husband's first time eating Indian!) that we didn't realize until halfway through that we were served each other's meal, ha! The medium spice curry barely was spicier than the mild. The food was delicious, though. All in all we enjoyed the food, but for the portion sizes, it was pricey compared to other Indian restaurants I've visited. Also, the naan was not included! I have never had to pay extra for naan before. We felt nickeled and dimed. For two waters, two entrees, and naan, our bill with tip came out to $44. We probably will return, but maybe for the lunch buffet. I don't think the portions and the service were worth the price.

    (4)
  • Oliver G.

Food is really good, bit expensive. Only issue was ordered a sweet lassi and it was spoiled "shouldn't be fizzy" and they never took It off of the bill. Reflected in tip. Would definitely go back tho.

We are "regulars" at Tandoor and have enjoyed many, many lunch buffets and dinners. Coming from the northeast where Indian restaurants are plentiful, we know the difference between so-so and excellent. Tandoor is definitely an outstanding restaurant with fine service, attractive atmosphere, fair prices and really delicious and beautifully presented food and it's always our first choice to bring out-of town friends here. We have never found the food to be oily or over-salted. It always tastes fresh and properly seasoned. The owners are very welcoming and this adds to the whole experience. Tandoor is successful and deserves to be!

  • Mike M.

Love this place!! My wife and I visited four times in the last two weeks. This is one of the best Indian restaurants we know so we make sure to come here when we are on vacation. You can count on the veggie dishes (which is all we eat). Bengan bartha, aloo gobi, aloo saag, dal thadka and dal makhani are all great as is the roti. The beer selection is also excellent.

    (5)
  • Bill R.

Consistently great northern Indian cuisine with fantastic service. Lunch buffet is a great bargain with lots of choices and includes unlimited naan or roti.

    (5)
  • J T.

Consistently great service and delicious food! One of very few Indian restaurants in the area, and we haven't been disappointed on any of our visits.

    (5)
  • Kathryn N.

Tandoor was great! We checked in for the free naan. It was amazing. Probably the best I've had. I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It came out in a pot they sit over an open flame, keeping it warm throughout our meal. We'll be back!

    (5)
  • Savvy W.

Everything we ordered was phenomenal ! The Tikki Masala was excellent and the appetizer sampler was enough to bring nirvana to my taste buds. I could bathe in the mint chutney - don't knock it till you try it ! The only stain on my experience was that when I entered the front door I was greeted by what seemed like the owner treating the hostess harshly. I felts so bad for the young lady, nobody should be talked to that way in front of another. It was awkward for her and my family. Other than that my experience was great!

    (4)
  • Meli S.

Great food. Clean and friendly environment!! The selection is large and pretty authentic food. They are not cheap in the spices and it shows. Will come back FOR SURE!

Another of my few reviews... But you just can't miss this hidden gem. Coming from NY/NJ we found it hard to find any good Indian restaurants south of NJ ;-) but this place is a hat-trick - food taste, value, service. The fresh food here would easily rank in the top 10 relative to Zagat-rated Indian restaurants in NY/NJ. Also reasonable (price is relative to value), and attentive service. Bookmark this place, and get here before it gets crowded.

Absolutely delicious food, classy and clean atmosphere, great service!

Sheena Maini and her staff can be proud of this establishment and it's offerings. Our first clue that this was to be a delight, was the fact that there was a short wait for a table (Sunday after church services). We were seated in a nicely appointed lounge area while the aromas wafted around us. A table for 2 quickly was available. The samosa's were freshly and expertly prepared as were the accompanying accoutrements. The Dahl and Sag Paneer were especially good and comparable to the best Indian cuisine we have ever had (NYC is our reference point). I especially enjoyed the Chicken curry and flaky hot Nan. We will return in the evening to try some of the menu items in the near future (And will bring dining friends!). This is the best Indian buffet we have found in the Sarasota / Bradenton area.

We have eaten at Tandoor on and off for years, since it was on Clark Road. The food was always excellent but the service was spotty. Since moving to their new location right off of University Parkway and I-75, we've seen great improvement in service. The new location is also more pleasant than the old restaurant. The food is heaven on earth. Lots of vegetarian and vegan choices, if that appeals to you, but their lamb dishes are our favorites. Last night, we had takeout for 6 adults: 4 meat dishes (lamb saag, lamb rogan josh, chicken korma and one more I can't recall) 2 vegetarian ones (an okra dish that was delicious and a more common cauliflower/potato dish) and 3 different breads. Everyone ate generously, and we have lots of yummy leftovers, all for about $100. The food travels well and I just kept it in the oven (or in an insulated cooler for the dishes in plastic containers) until we were ready to eat, almost an hour later.

  • Scott W.

Nothing special and too expensive ... Should be $$$ at least. 40$ for two little containers of butter chicken and tikki massala. Unfortunately this is the only game in town so here's a tip: buy the sauce at fresh market for 3$ and the chicken for 10$ ... Cook for 20 minutes and you'll have a delicious meal at home that tastes better than this and serves 4 instead of 2.

  • Krissy M.

Really enjoyed our visit here this past weekend, definitely was glad to find a good Indian Lunch Buffet here in Sarasota. The restaurant is clean and modern, and the staff is very friendly. Great value, my only reason to deduct one star is that every meat option on the buffet was chicken - would be nice to see more of a variety. We will be back!

My go-to place for Indian food. Really fresh and authentic food. I love the Garlic Naan and their vegetarian dishes. Friendly owner.

This is the second time for us at the new place ... Food was very good, we were there lunch time so we decided to have the lunch buffet , the waitress dumped the food to fill out the serving dishes, and sauce splashed over my shirt. I think she should wait until people done so no body get hurt from the hot stuff ..servers need to be trained better. We went to the bathroom and it was dirty... The area around the kitchen and the bathroom was not clean and organized ...it is a shame because every time we go to sarasota we are so exited to eat there.

    (3)
  • Mike H.

The food isn't bad, but unless one is familiar with Indian cuisine it's difficult to figure out what to order. And the rather "harried" wait staff isn't particularly helpful in terms of explaining what's what. Service is middling to mediocre.

I decided to have lunch here last Friday after my business meetings. To my surprise found the restaurant very easily. Was crowded when I walked in but staff were very courteous n assisted in my seating. Great food and looks like a well managed restaurant . Coming from New Jersey / New York area this place has great food. We always are unsure about eating Indian outside our area. Keep it up and hope to visit you on the near future.

Best India food in sarasota/ bradenton... Loved their kofta, paneer and naan... Food can be customized to indian spicy level :) love this place...

I have tried this restaurant three times, and i find it to be lacking. They have about ten dishes in all for the buffet which is from 11-2:30. The curry is not very spicy or thick and everything is rather simple. The decor is very nice, they have a good color scheme, and the waiters are very quick to serve you. Although the food was rather bland the service was very good.

    (2)
  • Amy K.

Great food. Loved the food, service, price and ambiance. Hope they consider opening another one on Rt 70 and LWR Blvd intersection. No decent restaurants in that area. And definitely no good ethnic food. With so much housing going on it would definitely be a big hit.

I stumbled on Tandoor when they were on Clark Road a few years ago. I went only once for dinner and then have gone several times for their lunch buffet. For me the buffet was nice to try everything, but way too much food. I was happy that they are now in my part of town. The new place is decorated nice. We sat in a booth up front so I didn't really see too much. We arrived at 5:30, they open at 5PM and there were already several customers and they were getting busy. The wines are pricey. I got a house Sauvignon blanc for $7 and it was just OK. I ordered the Vindaloo HOT masala curry with chicken and potatoes. I love hot but this was just a notch to much, but it didn't stop me from eating and enjoying it. The portions look small for the $15 price, but I only ate half and took the remainder home which had a lot of curry sauce and the waiter was nice enough to include a small container of rice and am looking forward to dinner tonight. I agree with other reviewer that the Naan, at least the plain, should be included. It was not very good. Too thin and buttery, not the normal puffy chewy naan I love that I know they do well as I've had it at their lunch buffet. The one thing that was a bit annoying, they were overstaffed and what seemed like every few minutes we had different staff stopping by to ask if we were OK, can they take anything, etc. And since four or five staff were hanging out up front talking -which is where we were sitting. The owner did stop in and came around the room as she always does. I am so happy they are now in my part of town!

Went for lunch buffet. Food was really good/fresh, almost perfect....needed it to be a bit more spicy. I asked for spicy sauce and ended up with them giving me chili powder. Service was really good-server was Matt. Pretty good selection for lunch buffet.

If I could give this establishment no stars that's what I would do. I have never in my life had such bad customer service. Additionally the food wasn't very good, but I would give that 2 stars. Four of us went to the restaurant and the server mixed up our dishes. Two of us ordered the same dish but one ordered mild and the other medium. Three of us began to eat while the other was on the phone to cancel reservations at another restaurant (mistake). Anyway, when my dear friend got off the phone she couldn't eat the dish because it was two spicy. Come to find out there was a mix up. Instead of correcting the problem two employee's /owner debated with us that they had made a mistake. They ended up taking the spicy dish back but still charged us. Not only will I never in my life eat there again I will ensure I tell all my friends about their unprofessional service and average to poor food.

Overbearing, sub-par service, strip mall location, so-so food. Portion sizes are on the small side. if you have a choice go to Chutney's. Better menu, better atmosphere, better food.

EDIT 6/4/13: For some reason my earlier review from 3/10/13 was not showing up in either of the 2 Tandoor Yelp listings, but it was moved in some sort of a limbo that was only viewable by me which defeats the purpose of writing a review. The following is a reposting from the original 3/10/13 review: Went for lunch on Sunday 3/10/13 and glad I did. It was years ago that I was last at the Tandoor, and I am wondering why it has been so long since I've been there as I always had good experiences eating there. Anyhow I was more pleased with the lunch buffet than I remember from times past although I'm not sure if much has changed but it was excellent. I tried almost everything the Chicken Curry was just perfectly spiced. There was a spinach type of dish that was excellent and the yellow lentils are delicious, especially over either the Basmati rice or the yellow type of rice. The nan bread was light and savory and was perfect for soaking up all the left over curry from the plates. Since I've been more health conscious lately, I've been avoiding buffet type restaurants for fear of over-eating. Well I did have seconds at the Tandoor, but the food is very light and nutritious and probably one of the most healthy foods you can eat so over-eating that probably isn't as bad as going to any other type of buffets. One of the nice girls that work there came over and asked to sign up for the email updates as they are moving to University Parkway in the shopping center where 5 Guys, Guitar Center, Marshalls and Leeroy Selmons is located at. This will be great news and I foresee myself eating more healthy at the new Tandoor restaurant in the VERY near future. (I was told they are moving around the end of March!) In conclusion, you cannot go wrong with the Tandoor for a great eating experience in Sarasota. You will be glad you did.

I never ever give out five star reviews. This place deserves it. EVERYTHING IS AMAZING! They nail everything here 10/10, my boyfriend and I are regulars. The lunch buffet is great the dinners are great. One could say I am addicted to Tandoor. I try other indian places in Sarasota and NONE are anywhere near as perfect as Tandoor. The owners are amazing, so sweet and come around to ask every table about their meal.

This place has such good Indian food!! You have to try it. I can't say that I have tried Indian food before trying Tandoor Indian Restaurant. I was always afraid of Curry and Spices.... Now I have no idea why. My family and I came here on a random whim and got blown away by how tasty Their food was. Non of us ever had Indian food and we are now slightly addicted. I had the house favorite in mild and Doug had it in medium, my daughter had a lamb and spinach something. Everything was amazing and we will be back for sure.

We've heard rave reviews about Tandoor and we finally decided to drop in for lunch today. We were seated immediately and it was suggested that we helped ourselves to the buffet. We respectfully declined (because I'm generally not a fan of buffets) & ordered from the menu. The complimentary papadom had a nice spicy flavor but had a bit of a burnt flavor that made it bitter (I didn't care for it at all). We ordered the mix pakora (didn't exactly meet my expectations but not horrible), seekh kabob (very flavorful), chicken tikka w/white rice (cooked perfectly, delicious & filling), & garlic naan (hot & fresh). Overall, our server made our experience wonderful (although, I don't suggest sitting at a table near the door during lunch time because it gets pretty busy & people are waiting near your table). We're anticipating returning soon to try other menu items. I would have liked to give 3 1/2 (I can't give a full 4 stars). I've heard how popular the lunch buffet is & on our way out other patrons were saying they ran out of food at the buffet (they should be fully prepared for the lunch rush...we'll actually was after lunch hours).

If you like dry chicken in every dish, lunch buffet here is the way to go! I love Indian food so much and worked with Indian for years. There were not many dishes to choose from in their buffet. And the only protein was chicken, very dry even in butter chicken. Sauce was tasty, I wish they were all vegetarian dishes so the chicken didn't ruin most of them. My favorite Tandoori chicken was also dry as chewing wood. Mango lasi needed to be sweeter. Service is good. I told the owner about the dry chicken, she said 'chicken is dry around here.' That was ridiculous.

So far, I feel like this is the best Indian restaurant in Florida. I am a huge fan of Indian cuisine and I absolutely love Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and Vegetable Korma dishes, etc. I usually order Mango Lassi in each Indian place just to compare the quality in each place. All dishes were amazing, delicious! I strongly suggest Butter Chicken and Navratan Korma. The size of the portion is big enough to share and it comes with rice. Their naans are also really good. Mango Lassi was very tasty. My only complaint was Yoghurt Raita - very plain and simple.

Been here multiple times for their lunch buffet. I keep coming back because (1) I must've been of Indian descent in my past life because I effing love Indian food (whether or not Tandoor is authentic Indian food I do not know) and (2) they change their buffet menu so it's not always the same butter chicken everyday!

Fantastic place, very happy I found this. Great service compliments the outstanding menu of tradition Indian dishes. Don't be afraid to heat it up a little when it comes to the spices, Medium was very mild to me. Will definitely be back again and again.

I never really tried Indian food before but this stuff blew me away. It is utterly amazing and all the food is flavorful. Staff is very caring and every aspect of this place gets an A++. Come try it out, you definitely won't be disappointed. I suggest the chicken vindaloo or the butter chicken vindaloo. Truly a hidden gem.

I had never eaten Indian food until my BFF took me to Tandoor for lunch recently. I was very impressed by the quality of the food. I chose to eat from the buffet so I could try different dishes and I was thoroughly pleased with every single item I ate. I can't say that often and I am a picky eater. The waiter was very pleasant and subservient. I will definitely return.

Came here for the lunch buffet and had a fantastic experience. We enjoyed their two tables they had for their outdoor seating with our dog. Service was very attentive and friendly. Water and naan were constantly refilled with a smile. The buffet itself had lots of yummy options. The vegetables with creamy cashew sauce were a favorite. All options were clearly labeled. Will definitely return when in town again!!!!!

One of my favorite restaurants in Sarasota! They have a delicious buffet, great service, and they're conveniently located off of I-75. During busy season you can expect to wait at least 30mins for a table but it's well worth the wait.. I've been to other Indian restaurants here in Sarasota and this is by far the best!

Great family owned spot. Beautiful location with a delicious menu of Indian delicacies. Don't know what you want, they will guide you In The right direction. Never had the buffet because I'm weird about that but the food I order is always fresh with hearty portions. Waiters are extremely attentive and they make sure you enjoy your meal. Great Indian food.

We ordered take out based upon reviews seen here... It was AMAZING! The vindaloo was the best I've ever eaten. Four different staff members thanked us for coming on our way out! So friendly! We can't wait to go back.

Still love love love this restaurant! Best of Indian food!! SO delicious!!!! The garlic naan is so yummy, the mango lassi is light and perfect, the potato samosas flaky and perfectly spiced. We love the Chicken tikka massala and the matar paneer! Mmmm!

  • Jan C.

Yum yum yum. Butter chicken best I ever had. Our waitress, Wilmarie, was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Thank you ! Will try the saag next time on her suggestion. She told us that any of the curry dishes can be made with veggies instead of meat (even though it's not on the menu) - simply ask..., Go and enjoy . You won't regret it. Oh- and the lamb samosas were worth every penny

Perfect Preparation As Indians ourselves, we were pleasantly surprised to find vegetarian food that was as good as "mom's cooking." We ordered vegetarian sampler for appetizer and it was not oily like elsewhere. We also ordered Daal Tadka, Baingan Bharta and Tandoori Roti. Everything was delicious and the quantity was large enough that we packed up half as left overs. We will go again every time we visit Sarasota.

Can I say anything more about tandoor... Their food is absolutely the best Indian food I have ever tasted. I prefer to go to their lunch buffet because it is so reasonable in cost and it gives me an opportunity to try each and everyone of their amazing dishes. Hands-down the butter chicken is not only my favorite food at the restaurant, however, I think it may be my favorite dish of all time. The Sagg is also equally great. My husband and I literally come here for lunch every time we have the opportunity, and clearly several other people do as well as there usually is a wait. If you don't mind waiting, your trip to tandoor will be worth it.

This was a big move for our family to try Indian but what a great first time experience! We had the Sampler Appetizer everything was great. The Butter Chicken my son had was fabulous. I had the Tandoori Chicken which was also good. You will not be disappointed!

I have literally been craving Indian food for weeks! Tandoor Indian Restaurant's lunch buffet hit the spot for me. For $9.99, you get to try a great variety of dishes from yogurt appetizers and fried chickpea balls to different curries and even a rice dessert! A few items that are delicious to get for lunch is the green chutney (it's a little spicy, so if you like a sweeter taste, get the brown chutney), the tender tandoori chicken, the butter chicken (it's kind of like chicken tikka masala but creamier), and the garlic naan (may have to pay extra for it). Best of all, you can get a little bit of everything and figure out what YOU like! TIP: try the meal with a sweet mango lassi or hot chai tea!

Aaaamazing. We live in an area with literally thousands of restaurants, but we keep coming back here. It's a regular spot for us. I always order the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and the fried cheese appetizer. Love it.

I love this place. When you walk in it smells delicious. Our server was very helpful and sweet. They give you 3 yummy sauces to dip their thin bread in while you wait for your food. I had the lamb rogan josh and it's my new go to dish. I also had the hot chai tea without sugar and it was so comforting and like nothing I've had before. So many yummy new flavors!

On Friday, July 18th, in celebration of passing a certification exam, my classmates and I convinced our instructor to accompany us to Tandoor so that we could try the lunch buffet. You must try this buffet! It will be the best $10 you've ever spent on lunch. Every dish is tasty and had most in our group going back for more. In particular, I enjoyed the mushroom manchurian and the eggplant dishes. What an explosion of flavors! One of my classmates was born in Mumbai and he told us that this is the best Indian food he's had anywhere in the United States. That's a huge endorsement. I will miss this place after I leave on Sunday.

Did a take out meal with the family. Everyone enjoyed the food. Picked up some lamb kabobs, samosas, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka (not the best), and Chicken Biryani. Would definitely go out of my way to eat here again.

Pretty flavorless indian food compared to the many other indian restaurants we've been to. Service was lacking... The staff seems to have no concern for the customers (lack of refills, darting in front of without saying excuse me, hostess on their phone). Very disappointed with our experience overall.

I live in a place where it is impossible to get good Indian food unless you make it yourself so while visiting my parents my husband and I decided to go out for Indian and wow were we impressed with Tandoor! It was a Monday night and they were pretty busy which was a good sign. We had the potato pancake with yogurt sauce as an appetizer and it was delicious. Then we shared the vegetable korma and a mushroom dish with tomatoes, onions and peppers. These were served with rice and we also had some garlic naan. It was all amazing! It's so nice having great Indian food! I really liked how the dishes were served in warmers which gave a special touch to the presentation. If this restaurant were where I live I would definitely be a regular!

Good Indian food and great service got the lamb masala very mild as I can't handle spices but that doesn't stop me. I didn't give 5 stars since he guy forgot to credit my tab for the free naan for checking into Yelp.

Absolutely the best! The service and quality of food is outstanding. When I leave after eating here my body is happy and tells me so. i would definitely recommend this place for lunch so you can try the various dishes. They offer many that are gluten free and vegan. Gotta be a top 5 in the Sarasota area

  • Lara A.

Tandoor is just terrific Indian food with amazing service. They know they're stuff. I come here frequently with my Indian friends and the only complain they ever have it that most of the cuisine is Northern Indian cuisine. If they make Indian food this good they should have more Southern India food also! The owners are terrific people too!

  • Michele O.

Vegan friendly and absolutely delicious. I'm not normally a huge fan of Indian food, but the food is outstanding. Really listen to level of spice that you want.

Not from here, but found this place on Yelp. Buffet was very good. Service was better. They didn't have Saag Paneer on the Buffett, so I made a comment, when asked how everything was?, it would be better with the Saag, joking. Well, the waiter came back a few minutes later with a small serving. It was some of the best I have eaten. Great staff.

Love this place. Its pricey. The amount of the food wasn't a whole lot. I ordered mutton curry ... My favorite. Its not watered down like some other places. A lot of meat and the curry is rich. Naan was really good as well. You can order plane or garlic flavor. The staff was super attentive and very nice service. This is one of the best Indian restaurant I had a a very long time. If I could I would go every day to eat here but I don't live down that way.

  • Ashley M.

  • Rachel N.

Went here for lunch buffet. It was ok. 9 or 10 foods to choose from. Only had 3 meat dishes and all were chicken. The food was bland for Indian food. The raita was not good and the rice pudding was bland and cold. Would like to try their regular menu, but probably won't go back here.

  • Adrian M.

This is the closest place to me that has halal food. The chicken makhani is really good, I keep coming back for it. My husband really likes the lamb biryani.

My first foray into Fine Indian Cuisine and I feel like I've been duped. The food was meh and the service was truly lacking. The only thing that saved the entire experience was the good beer and the great company. I would t suggest going here unless you're going to check out the buffet.

I haven't had Indian food for many years and tried this place recently. I had the lunch buffet and it was mostly just bland. There wasn't enough spice and flavor to the food.

Consistently great northern Indian cuisine with fantastic service. Lunch buffet is a great bargain with lots of choices and includes unlimited naan or roti.

Consistently great service and delicious food! One of very few Indian restaurants in the area, and we haven't been disappointed on any of our visits.

Tandoor was great! We checked in for the free naan. It was amazing. Probably the best I've had. I ordered the chicken tikka masala. It came out in a pot they sit over an open flame, keeping it warm throughout our meal. We'll be back!

Great food. Loved the food, service, price and ambiance. Hope they consider opening another one on Rt 70 and LWR Blvd intersection. No decent restaurants in that area. And definitely no good ethnic food. With so much housing going on it would definitely be a big hit.
