This is some of the best custard I have ever had (and I have had a lot of custard). It was creamy and delicious. The sandwich was good, too. The bread was nice and toasty. I would definitely recommend Sweetberries.

I've had the custard at Sweetberries several times and it's always amazing. I prefer custard to ice cream. It's creamier. I love the Concretes, which are basically the same concept as a Blizzard. Custard mixed with fruit, candy and/or nuts. They have a Concretes menu or you can build your own. The SweetBerries Sunset is my favorite. It has vanilla custard, peaches, raspberries and blackberries. They have chocolate and a flavor of the day custard too. We had lunch on our last visit and I tried the chicken salad croissant. I was underwhelmed. It was just very basic without a ton of flavor. I did enjoy the broccoli salad (has bacon). My husband loved the Kansas City Roast Beef which has roast beef, bacon, muenster cheese, onion, tomato and 1000 island dressing grilled on Focaccia bread. 5 stars for the custard and 3 stars for the food

Quite possibly the worst teenage customer service non caring experience. Got there at 8:50 pm. Stood in line for a few minutes. Ordered a sandwich, cashier says she didn't know how to ring in my sandwich request. Goes gets second cashier who has trouble also. They go to the office. At 9:02 second girl comes out of office and says "kitchens closed". Huh? I've been here since before 9! " Yea, kitchen closes at 9. Sorry". Never, never, never. I'll keep my $12.

Here is the deal. Sweet Berries is an institution..and its not because of their food. The custard is the golden child here. I have been frequenting this location and their SRQ location for the past 12ish years when headed home from the beach. Their food is nothing special- but the custard... let me just tell you, you won't find anything like it anywhere else. Custard from other places is just ok but SBs takes it to the next level. Keep your order simple. A vanilla concrete plain or with one mix in is the way to go to truly appreciate this sinful treat. The perfect post- beach cool down treat.

Never disappointed in this place. We come here every florida visit and love it. The custard is delicious and they serve outside and inside. Bathrooms are extremely clean as is the entire restaurant.

When I lived down in Bradenton I used to come here with my mom all the time! They truly have the best soft-serve I have ever had! You can order at an outside window or go inside. I 99% of the time order the Sweetberries Sunset Concrete. It by far is amazing! It is loaded with their infamous vanilla custard and peaches, raspberries and strawberries. They also have food but I have never had it but it always looks amazing! I wish they would put one in Tampa!!

Their ice cream is pretty good. The smoothies could use a little work. I was having a chocolate craving and this place had what I was looking for. The brownie sundae was just what I needed to fix that craving. It was gooey deliciousness in a cup. There was a brownie topped with ice cream, chocolate syrup and nits with whipped cream and a cherry. It was way bigger than I anticipated so I couldn't even come close to eating it all but it was so good. My husband got a raspberry mango smoothie with custard and at first, it was pretty boring. The fruit flavors barely came out and the custard must have been really frozen as it didn't show through either. About 25 minutes later though, it got better. Good thing it took him that long to really get into it! It wasn't bad once the custard incorporated and it all started to melt a little more. Overall, I was satisfied but they need to use better fruit in their smoothies so that it tastes like something.

When I walked up to look at the menu outside there was a weird 'sour' smell & then I walked inside to order & there was a 'spoiled' smell. It was really gross but the place was packed so I decided to give it a try since I had read "Voted Best Sandwiches in Town". I "Created my own deli" placing my order with a very nice & patience young lady (it took me forever to decide since I had never been there & had so many options). I ordered turkey w/provolone, cranberry pecan mayo, red onion, lettuce, & avocado on a croissant & it took forever for me to get my take-out order. The longer I sat waiting the more grossed out I was by the weird smell. Finally my name was called & my order was walked up to me in a plastic grocery "Thank You" bag with a big styrofoam container inside. I asked were the bag of kettle chips in there & she said "inside the box". Sure enough, the bag of chips was in box sitting on top of a pickle (strange because now my chip bag has pickle juice on it...lol). I thought it was a little pricey until I took a bite of my sandwich...the sandwich was SO good! I mean really good! I loved it! I really don't want to go back because of the weird smell (it just didn't smell clean, I probably ate a couple of rat dropping or roach legs) but I think I maybe I'll try a different location. I'd like to try the custard because I heard it's great. Maybe if they got a good deep cleaning it'll be perfect! I'd expect such a smell from a Waffle House but not this cute little gem. Oh & the older cashier was not as friendly as the nice young girl who helped me. She didn't crack a half of a smile & she was kind of snooty with a mom about toppings for her kids ice cream telling her "NO! She has to get it this way!" She could have said the same thing but just a little friendlier.

There comes a family restaurant every so often that exceeds expectations and is a true family style environment. Sweetberries has been around for quite a while and still impresses me with their new innovations. The staff is amazing and extremely friendly and helpful. Being a regular, they always enjoy meeting our friends and clients, that turn out to be their new customers. Even the pets like to come to get some attention and possibly a snack. They always work well with new customers and kids that are trying to figure out what their taste buds are in the mood for, including creating something completely custom. Besides their ability to make everyone feel that they are welcome and at home, we've never had anything that we don't like. That's what it's all about folks!

3 words... Caramel Crunch Concrete! It's a rich mix of vanilla concrete with caramel swirled within and Heath bar folded in. This place has great service and a fun atmosphere! I bring all my out of town people here and they're instantly hooked! I've only ever had the concrete but the place is always popping with customers enjoying all things food and drink that sweet berries has to offer.

Big fan for years. It's a got to have when ever family comes to town. Love the Concrete with any fresh fruits.

This place is amazing. So much so that we used to drive regularly from Largo, Fl just to get Carribean Kick custard concretes. Now that we have moved to the east coast of Fl we drive 3.5 hours each way on occasion to have some of their custard. Their food is pretty good a well - fresh. We have often said if we had enough money, we'd own a franchise! So delicious!

Sub par at best with their "cooked food" and yes listen to other people. TRIPLE CHECK your order before walking off. I even asked if my sides were actually packed in my bag, I was reassured twice. DONT WORRY THOUGH ....They'll make sure to charge you for all your extras but, alas, when I arrived back at work to deliver none of them to be found. But there's still hope, upon calling back to ask them to please try to get their orders together for future customers, I was asked to give a name so I could be compensated when placing my next order... NO thanks. Not returning to this mess.

Just had the Turkey Bacon wrap. They grilled the wrap stuffed with lots of fresh turkey, bacon and lettuce/tomato. All fresh and delicious! The Custard was Fabulous...SweetBerry Sunset. Vanilla custard with raspberries, blackberries and peaches...give it a 5 rating. Definitely recommend stopping here

Great dessert place. Have lunch here every once in a while but fresh not fast service makes it hard for me to manage on a short lunch break. Nice seating inside and out when the weather is nice. Definitely stop by for a treat.

I love how fresh and healthy there food tastes. They really take an art and heart to what they make. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is just wonderful. My favor place to sit is in the back patio. I personally love this sandwich they have with goat cheese, chicken, sautéed vegetables and this amazing vinaigrette. They also had this amazing soup of the day with portobello mushrooms and some sort of cheese that I cannot get out of my head! I would recommend this to anyone who would love a light fresh meal!

  • Matthew B.

The best custard around by far. The food is really great as well. We always stop here for a late night treat. Don't miss out on the toasted coconut, it's a flavor offered once or twice a month. I wish they had it all the time.

  • Kathleen K.

I love their custard. However, I went in the other day to buy 2 quarts and found they had gone from $4.25 to $5.00 a quart. When I asked why the guy answered "because we have been selling it like crazy!" I found that a strange answer and told him "Well maybe you won't be selling so much of it now!" That is quite a jump in price! I guess they feel hike it up and much as the market will bear!! Won't be buying as much. Publix has some wonderful ice cream, on sale $3.50 a full half gallon, not a quart!

We are from the Tampa Bay area and were driving down the road wanting something sweet. Yelp helped us find this gem and boy were we happy! The service was quick and friendly. The building was clean and neat and crowded. The custard was divine! Try the cement...wow!

  • Bill R.

Pretty good stuff. A bit pricey, but the food is okay. I wish the broccoli salad had no bacon, but I am sure there are 50 others to my one who want the bacon. I just happen to be a vegetarian. Mushroom sandwich was good. Potato salad was good. Service is order at the counter, but they deliver it, so, not really an issue. Overall, the food is decent, but a little high. We do not mind paying for quality, but this food is not quite up to the price. The custard is great, though - many more we must try so we will be back for custard, but not dinner.

This little sandwich and frozen custard shop is a must when we go on vacation in the Bradenton area. Frozen custard is hard to find in Tallahickey (until recently). This locally owned shop makes their own, and it is delicious. They have the standards, and make specialty flavors of the day. This time around, I had vanilla, and I am usually a chocolate freak. It was delish. The Boy had a concrete with chocolate, peanuts, and a little bit of everything in it. I can't recall, I was too absorbed in my flavor universe of creamy, custard-y vanilla. Frozen custard done well beats the heck out of ice cream any day. Try this place, you will love it.

Truth be told, our original interest in this place was to see if GatorGump, Appalachian Trail Thru-Hiker of some repute, was capable of making an honest living. Yes he can, and his custard is excellent. We went back twice in three days and had three different 'concretes': SweetBerries Sunset Black MacBerry Razz-Ma-Tazz The custards themselves were rich and creamy, the mix-ins were fresh and generous. All excellent, although the Black MacBerry was our favorite. The parking lot was full on a weekday in March; I can only imagine what this place is like on during the summer. Service was efficient an friendly, and included the server inverting our concretes to show that they really do stick. We did not get the try the sandwich menu; next time. Well done Gator.

The best concretes around!! We have been vacationing at Anna Maria for many years during Spring Break, and we typically go to Sweetberries 4-5 times during the week. It's actually our first stop after leaving the airport. The custard is so creamy and rich. We love the chocolate Razz-ma-Tazz and vanilla with blackberries and macadamia nuts.

We used to stop at Sweetberries after going to the beach all the time. Now when we visit Florida this is always a place we stop at. Very good treat for a hot day. I recommend the Rocky Road! Casual place, private parking lot, order outside or inside. Seating inside.

Our family has been enjoying Sweetberries since it opened. We have probably eaten everything on the menu. The food is always fresh and the custard delicious. The prices were alright, but The first time I ordered a turtle sundae, and was given their new reduced size, I was very disappointed. We don't go as often now. One post said there is a bad smell inside. There is usually a bad smell outside, but it's fine inside, I'm pretty sure it's the garbage or dumpster.

Be careful with takeout orders from Sweetberries. Check your order twice as they have the propensity to get regular (non custard) food orders messed up. Custard orders are always perfect, but food orders not. The food is good so please fix the regular food ordering. This might be due to an antiquated ordering system.

  • B W.

We always look forward to Sweetberries when we come to Anna Maria. Unfortunately, we had a terrible service experience on our last visit. We arrived at about 9 p.m. and it wasn't busy. Went right up and ordered. Then we waited. And waited. After 20 minutes we asked about our order of four concretes and were told they were working on them. Another five minutes and we were told that "things happen." Huh? Meantime several younger patrons received orders that were put in after ours. Lots of commotion with the staff on the phone and laughing among themselves. Finally received our bag of four concretes only to find that two of them had already tipped over and dripped all over the bag. No one working there could seem to figure out how to get the lids to stay on. By the time we got home we had a melted concrete mess.

My son and I love this place! Great small town homemade taste for lunch and deelish custard. I recommend the broccoli salad if you're ordering lunch! Definitely worth the stop :)

I don't like ice cream but their custard has grown on me. Mint chocolate chip and toasted coconut almond chip are my two favorites!

GREAT FOOD! I am visiting the area and this place had great reviews so I thought I would give it a try. The chicken salad on croissant was a 10 out of 10, the macaroni salad was excellent and the ice cream is great. Clean bathrooms and good customer service. Expect to pay about $10 for sandwich, side, drink, and dessert.

The custard is good. The sign telling you "the world runs on cash so use cash to lower our cost of doing business" not so much. I hate to break it to them but the world has been running on PLASTIC for a good 30 years, and it would make more sense if that meant lower prices, but that's not the case. I agree with the the other poster: they would benefit from adding low- or fat-free and lactose free products--and be careful if you have a serious intolerance to gluten...they sometimes mix up orders and put cookie-dough where it doesn't belong. I also agree with other poster--it could be five stars easily. Too many teens and not enough oversight by the owners at this point.

This is the best place in the world for concrete (frozen custard)! The best! They blend it just perfectly. They bring it to you and flip it upside down to show you that it won't fall out. I've been coming here since high school. My favorite concretes in order: 1. BlackMacBerry ~ Vanilla custard, blackberries, macadamia nuts 2. Hawaiian ~ Vanilla custard, pineapple, coconut, macadamia nuts 3. Caribbean Kick ~ Vanilla custard, pineapple, coconut, mango 4. SweetBerries Sunset ~ Vanilla custard, peaches, raspberries, blackberries 5. Georgia Blues ~ Vanilla custard, peaches, blueberries but I sometimes try their concrete of the day which their creations are always pretty good. During high school.... I lived off StrawBana sundae (Vanilla custard topped with strawberries and sliced bananas) and Rocky Road sundae (Chocolate custard topped with marshmallow syrup and peanuts) Their food is also pretty yummy. They have the best chicken salad ever - hint of celery, pecans, and grapes served on a freshly baked croissant! They have really good clam chowder good on the days that they serve it....

Working in the construction industry.... any place that sells Concrete has my attention. At Sweetberries, Concrete is a Frozen Custard blended with fruits, nuts and flavorings. When we visited this sleepy town on the west coast of Florida earlier in the month, I was sent multiple times to grab Quarts ($6.50) of : Razz-Ma-Tazz (chocolate custard, raspberries and almonds) Bradenton Beach Sunset (Vanilla custard, peaches, raspberries, blackberries) Chocoholic (chocolate custard + chips, peanut butter cups) and Caramel Crunch (Vanilla custard, caramel and Heath Bar) You can also create your own. You get one(1) mix in for sizes ranging in $3.60, $4.45 and $5.10. Additional toppings are $0.65 each. There's also a selection of Sundaes, Shakes (I dabble in the raspberry/vanilla flavor), Malts, Floats and Smoothies. It definitely has that feel where locals have been going for awhile. On the north side of Manatee Ave (heading to Anna Maria Island). Can't miss it.

I've been going to this place for years and it was awesome. But they changed their sizes. They downsized all of their sizes. I questioned them about it when I saw my order was made smaller than usual. They explained that they changed their sizes per owner. Just a shame that they are downsizing yet charging the same as before. They lost me as a loyal customer.

Great place to get awesome custard and ice cream. They also offer some delicious lunch options if your looking for a quick but delicious lunch. Only down falls of this place is that it is quite small so it tends to be very packed, especially on the weekends and it definitely needs a facelift and new furniture for guest seating. Great place to stop by though after a long, hot day at the beach!

  • Brad W.

Now this was a concrete! Best part of this place is when the girls bring you your concrete and turn it over right in front of you and nothing falls out. I chose vanilla custard with blackberries and macademia nuts mixed in and this was quite delicous, not quite as good as legendary Vegas place, but refreshing. I just wish they would make some more flavors available each day. Actually I don't really care since I don't live here, but they should anyway. Dad had the butterscotch flavor in a shake form and that was a bit too sweet. Overall a good experience, but if you try to make a left turn out of that parking lot, you will be waiting for ages.

Loved it .....unfourtnatly they do not offer any fat free or lactose free products which are available in the market place ....could use a face lift inside and outside perhaps some paint plants etc it's looking real tired This place could be a five star easily Hope u read this and take note

Every year that we visit Bradenton Beach, we go to Sweetberries almost every day!!! I absolutely LOVE the Razz-Ma-Tazz with chocolate sprinkles instead of the almonds. We have not ever eaten lunch or dinner at Sweetberries, but know from LOTS of experience that the frozen custard is amazing! You won't be disappointed!!!

Fresh food and great ice cream. Pricier than most for a things like a turkey sandwich, but the food is fresh and healthy. Of course, the the custard based ice cream is another story :).

  • Tom H.

Hey all, I am a custard snob. If you want some good custard with good flavor, this is the place to go in Bradenton. There is only one thing that would deter me from going here, it is a bit pricey. But you get what you pay for in this case.

  • Coty S.

Sweetberries is the place for custard. Bradenton folks don't know how lucky they are to have such delicious custard in their town. They are very generous with their custard toppings and mix-ins. The chocolate custard was thick, eggy, and not overly sweet. It reminds me of cook-and-serve chocolate pudding because of the slightly charred flavor. Delicious! I recommend it with peanut butter cups. They used to have a pretty good sandwich menu; my favorite was the "Augusta Cobbler," which was turkey, smoked gouda, and cranberry walnut mayo on wheat. The last time we went they said that they did not have it anymore, so we stopped going there for sandwiches. They have now expanded to my hometown, Gainesville. So, I have to spread the word now...

  • Daniel D.

By far the best tasting and best selection of frozen custards I have ever experienced. The sandwiches and soups are also of superb quality. Every town needs a place like this.

  • J T.

Discovered this neighborhood treasure about a year ago and have returned regularly ever since. All of their sandwiches are delicious but the reuben is a personal favorite - mounds of cornbeef and just the right amount of sauerkraut and seasonings dripping warmly toasted between a rye and white spiral of bread. I'm trying to work my way through the sandwich list but keep ordering the reuben 'cause it's just that good. If you've got the extra room - try any of their awesome "concrete" custard creations or indulge in a sundae of your choice! The wait staff is terrific too - positive and accommodating. Margie's great. It's not a fancy place, just busy and worth the visit.

  • Mike F.

I agree my Mysterious Q - great place for Custard! Yum! I personally suggest you try the "Utterly Reeses" - Vanilla custard, w/reeeses cup and hot fudge and whipped cream - oh man yes!! They have a "Concrete of the Day"- concrete being a flavor blended with some topping and hardened. I have never tried the lunch menu though I have heard the sandwiches are great! You can visit their website and check the 'flavor of the day' - always busy and packed! (even in the winter!) Website: sweetberries.com

My mouth is watering just trying to think of how to portray how tantalizing this custard is. This is beyond any comfort food... this puts you on cloud nine for the entire week! It's seriously good...and one can never get enough!! This place knocks Coldstone off the map! Even with the "Concrete" of the day.... I still had the same thing every single time and stealing spoonfuls of new and interesting flavors from whoever came along with me. The concrete is frozen custard mixed with any concoction or single fruit, nuts, candy, or topping they offer...and it's sooo thick like concrete, you wouldn't be able to lick it off a cone if you tried! This one's coming in a bowl accompanied with a spoon!! Not to mention they have a menu of sandwiches, wraps, dogs, soups & salads, kid's menu, sides and beverages. Who else in the food industry offers to take money off the price of the sandwich if you don't want a side?! Not too many.... while you're at it, try their "monkey business" sundae or a strawberry shortcake! There is a order/pick-up window you can walk up to, outdoor seating, or even indoor seating! This WAS my -ahem- daily guilty pleasure followed by a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. And they are open pretty darn late too, for a dessert place. If only they could survive here in Michigan.. hey, a girl can dream, right?

OMG I love this place and have to go there everytime Im in Bradenton which is about once a month. They have the BEST strawberry Custard!! I am a very picky fan of icecream and I cant eat it very often but this stuff I can eat by the heaping spoon full and never get tired. they are usually open pretty late even in off season and they seem to always be busy. They have food too but I have never had that, only the custard. You should go!

I really wish that my first Sweetberries experience had been a simple plain custard cup, but I opted for something a little bit more. SO under all the chocolate and toppings I'm sure that the custard was to die for because that's what all the locals say. We visit Anna Maria Island every couple of years and I'm certain that Sweetberries will be one of the places we come back to year after year!

The best custard I have tasted in years. They also serve the best Chicago style hot dog this side of Illinois. I will be a regular now.

I grew up in Bradenton -- family still lives here. This place is to die for. Amazing custard (and I come from ice cream/ frozen treat blue bloods)! I always get a small (a small is more than enough!) vanilla concrete with almonds and caramel. So yummy. Nice afternoon or after-dinner snack.
