I'm a bit late in writing this as it was a couple of weeks ago we were there. Stopped by for dinner after a movie and so glad we did. The atmosphere is very nice and the food is delicious. My husband and I just moved to Bradenton and our server Sasha was great. He gave us lots of good advice for restaurants around the area and we appreciate the time he spent with us. Happy hour has two for one drinks - good thing as the only negative is that the drinks are way over priced.

It's got a great location next to the movie theater. I feel for what I ordered penne pasta with pesto and blackened chicken I over paid. I got it to go and didn't get any bread or anything else for $18 something. I ordered a bottled yuengling and it was $5 plus tax way too much! It seems like a great place to take a date before a movie but for the price I would probably just go to pier 22 or somewhere where the food prices are justified by the view.

My first time here. I will definitely be back. I had a personal pizza with sausage as well as the spaghetti & meatballs. The pizza was excellent with slices of sausage (not the ground up garbage) and just the right amount of cheese. It was also cooked just right (very slightly crispy). Loved it The spaghetti and meatballs was very good also. I really liked the pasta and the meatballs were pretty good. . . . I can't wait to go back to try several other things on the menu. Please note - all of staff that I dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful. Great place.

Gio Fabulous was a wonderful surprise. On both of our visits, we had a groupon.com coupon which they graciously honored and we were amazed at the service, atmosphere, and the great food. It feels like a comfortable, laid back atmosphere where the people are having a good time. We will always go back to Gio's when we come to town.

Outstanding service. Without complaining they took my order of 1 large pizza with double chz dbl pep ham and mushrooms. $20.24. The sauce literally tastes like Chef Boyardee, very tomato and horribly bland, no spice in it whatsoever. The amount of topping for ordering extra was literally a complete ripoff. Thin crust is cooked perfect but has zero flavor profile on any level. I tipped the chef $10 for graciously making my order with 5 minutes left to go but I'd do anything to take it back because after I tipped another $5 at the checkout I'd say they profited some $33-34. I will be honest in saying that little caesars has better flavor and more toppings for 1/3 the price. If you want nice people it's probably great but don't order the pizza you'll be disappointed.

Went in for a quick drink before we went to the movies to see avengers: the bartender was great! Super personable and he totally hooked us up before our movie theater experience. Definitely a place to go to enjoy a nice refreshment!

This place was great. Very nice soft music and peaceful atmosphere. Started off with bread and a ceasar salad then had the Rigatoni Vodka for my entree. Great food!! This place does get busy so i recommend setting a reservation.

Sweet potato gnocchi were outstanding! ! Great bread and dip. Mediocre calamari and service. Waiter was a nice, friendly guy but overextended causing him to be inattentive. But worth the trip. Food was excellent. Nice ambience.

Came here with my boyfriend on the Tuesday evening. We ordered the mussels and chocolate martinis to start, which were absolutely wonderful. He thought the mussels were a tad "fishy" tasting but I thought they tasted great with the tomato sauce they were served in. For our entrée we had the prosciutto pizza, which was just amazing. The atmosphere was dark, quiet and very romantic, the way I like my restaurants. We just moved out here from Denver where we were spoiled by many great pizza places, but none quite matched the ambiance and flavor of this one. We will be back!

Gio's décor is very nice, the wait staff is inconsistent. Most of their wait staff is high school students. Sometimes nice, sometimes not. They are located next door to the Regal Cinemas on Cortez Rd. and the sign says "Gio's." We mostly ordered carryout, when we lives close by and have dined in a few times before the movies. I personally have a problem with paying too much for Italian food, since most of it can be made at home, except for the Pizza. However, I would say that this is the best locally owned classy Italian restaurant in Bradenton for pasta dishes. I wish that the dinners came with a salad or garlic rolls, since most of the salads run about $7.00. They do give you bread with butter. My favorites are the Gnocchi Bolognese $10.95, potato dumplings in a rich and delicious meat sauce. My other favorite is the Penne Quattro Formaggi $9.95, which is basically a penne alfredo. I have noticed that they do not give you as much pasta as most Italian places do, so you are forewarned. Maybe that is how they keep the prices lower than most. Their pizza is great New York style, but not as good as Il Panificio in Sarasota. The cheese is very flavorful and you can taste some romano in there. Only two sizes; personal size pizza $8.00-14.00, large size $12.00-20.00. They also have great toppings to choose from. They also have a gelato bar and a full drink bar. I recall that some of their locations are not open during lunch hours. Hrm... for some reason my review has been moved over to another business. Interesting. This review is for Gio's, so please stop moving it. I guess an employee has figured out a way to move all of the Gio's reviews to Portofino Cafe.

average at best, and i have eaten here before, it was my dad's birthday, we came unannounced, we sat outside, was nice, bread was dedent, martini's, ok, was before the 7 pm time, did you feel you had to bring all the 2-1 martini's at the same time, nothing personal, i don't like my martini room temp, bread was just ok, no comment, i've better at other italina places, service, average at best, i don't want to hear you're training a new employee, while we were sitting there, that person was never with you, entrees, now, i am a chef, does your kitchen know the concept of salt, if it wasn't for the pepper shaker, the sweet potato gnocchi, was bland, bottom line, the owners, and sasha, the bartender, terrible decision on drink times, the owners, anthony, we drove from the furthert area of sarasota, and left disapponted

Got the garden salad and the Primavera(veggie) we substituted eggplant and spinach for garlic and mushrooms :) yum! The pizza is thin and just the way I like it. The salad was good too( a bit too much vinaigrette so getting it on the side is a better option). Customer service is great, place is very clean. The complimentary cheese bread and olive oil was a nice extra! Would come back again!

Gets 4 stars for pizza, but nothing else. The Rustica pizza is flavorful and delicious. We have tried 4 or 5 other things from Gio's and they were all disappointing. We visit this place now only for take-out pizza.

I really wanted to like this place, but the the fact that it was almost empty when we walked in should have been an indicator on how bad the restaurant is. First off, if you do not sell an item please have the decency to remove it from your online menu. The online menu says that the restaurant has a Lobster Ravioli in a Pink Vodka Sauce; no they do not. I inquired about it after not seeing it on the actual menu at the location and was informed that it is not carried. The waitress brought over a basket of COLD bread and dipping sauce. Is the bread supposed to be cold here? I'm really curious because I complained about it and the waitress took it away; five minutes later she came back with the same damn cold bread. Someone PLEASE tell me if the bread is supposed to be cold because if we were given cold bread because we were the only people of color dining we're going to have some real issues. If it IS served that way STOP it does not taste good. I asked for lemon for my water and the waitress literally just gave me the rind with no fruit on it. So......the food is mediocre at best as a lot of the comments says; could have really used some seasoning. It is definitely one of the worst Italian restaurants I've been to. I drove past this place for FOUR years and finally decided to give it a shot. I will not be going back!

Traveling through and speed for shopping and a good meal. If you follow my reviews, I'm a Caesar salad fanatic. This Caesar was delicious. The chicken is fresh, nicely blackened and the price not over dressed. They have a great selection of wine and martinis. If I want driving I'd love to end a retail excursion with a dirty vodka Martini. The staff is superbly helpful and accommodating. I'm a happy luncher

Pretty good. Service good and pizza is good except they raised prices and its gotten too pricey. Pastas just ok, apps are good. Unfortunately we get pizza and since its so expensive for a thin pie we can get cheaper and just as good elsewhere.

Delicious food and wonderful pizza. I have always gotten consistently good food here. The wait staff is attentive and kind. Very nice people. The chocolate martini is so tasty that I like to have one for dessert!

Overpriced food that has zero flavor. Ordered 1 app and 2 pasta dishes. Had to add a lot of salt to the dish and im not a big salt user. Maybe the pizza is good based on the positive reviews but i wont be trying the pizza there. Now i remember why its been like 5 years since we have been back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
