I tried this place a few years back and was not impressed. We tried it again recently and the feeling did not change. I usually gauge a Cuban placed based on the pork and I have to say their pork is quite boring. We went for an employee lunch and everybody felt the same way about their food, that it was rather bland. If you wa b t good Cuban food, check out Joses.

I really loved this place. The foodwas excellent, the waitress was so amazing, givibg my little girl some freshly squeezed orange juice that made her day. It was one of the highlights of a quick vacation to catch a pirate spring training game.

I wasn't overly impressed with this place. After reading reviews, I was really excited to try it while on vacation rather than going to another run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. For Cuban food it may have been quite good, I just wasn't overly impressed with the quality and/or flavor of the food. I went with the obvious choice, a standard Cuban sandwich. It wasn't bad, there was just nothing that made it stand out or left me wanting more. Just an average sandwich. Like I said, for what it was maybe it was really good, I just wasn't blown away by any means. It didn't help that the service was a little underwhelming. However, it is not very often that you get the chance to try a rare cuisine like Cuban, so I did appreciate the uniqueness of the menu. If you want to try Cuban cuisine this is the place to do it. I guess I just am not overly impressed with what Cuba has to offer!

VERY average food at best. Bad service. Clean restaurant, but surrounded by three or four other authentic Latin restaurants that all are 4 or 5 star.

Good cuban breakfast, coffee, sandwiches, dinners and desserts. Casual dining. Restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. Staff is very attentive and last, check out their prices, very inexpensive. Good place for a good meal.

I was a little disappointed with this place but it's still a great place for lunch. The empenadas were good although the beef empenada needed more beef. Half of it was nearly hollow. The beef was better than the chicken. The cuban steak sandwich was a little dry and needed some kind of sauce. After putting a little hot sauce on it with some of their special mojo sauce (basically just garlic butter), it made the sandwich quite delicious. Overall, the food was good but there was nothing special about it. Everyone at my table enjoyed it but no one was taken aback by any of the food.

Located in the beautiful town of Onecco, you will find a small shop that looks like a diner attached to the back of a gas station. Only come here if you have some time to spend, otherwise you can do pick-up. It has taken us up to two hours to eat here before during the lunch rush. It may not look crowded, but it is more than they can handle. I recommend this joint for dinner because there are a lot less customers and a relaxed atmosphere. There are coolers in the back where you can pick out your favorite ethnic soda, I recommend Young Coconut Juice or a can of Watermelon Soda ($1.50 import). They make amazing milkshakes ($2.75) in flavors like guanabana, papaya, and mango. They also have Sugar Cane Juice that are made to order. If you are into Yucca fries, they sure have some great ones, served with Mojo dipping sauce. I recommend their Chicken Empanada ($2.50) filled with shredded dark meat chicken, lime juice, cilantro, and green olives. Their Ham Croquettes ($1.50 for two), deep fried and crusted, filled with a soft blend of ham and starch. Their Spicy Crab Ball is also great too, filled with spicy red crab meat covered in breadcrumbs. Their Maduro (Sweet Plantains) are the best I have yet to have at a restaurant. They are ripe and sweet covered in a chewy sticky sugar coating. They have many sandwiches ($6.00) to choose from, and they are sure crispy , delicious, and filling. However, I recommend getting their special for the day, which is usually a meat with a side of rice and beans with some plantains. I definitely recommend their yellow rice, it is flavorful and buttery. I am not fond of their beans, they taste bland to me, but their maduro is amazing. There are many places in the area that will charge an arm and a leg for Columbian or Cuban food. This is not one of them, and it is not pretentious or discriminating either. Be prepared to have an enjoyable home cooked meal, and to be treated like part of the family.

Let's just say that Sarasota/Bradenton is a tough place to find good, authentic ethnic food. Not sure why. Since this is the case, I thought, perhaps, Cuban might be the way to go since it's not that far from Miami. Food didn't disappoint too much. It was o.k. Probably would have rated 4 stars if it weren't for the woefully lacking service. As I walked in, I made it clear to the guy at the counter that I was visiting on business and not familiar with the restaurant. Although he did walk me through the (very) limited menu, he just kind of left me there in the middle of my order not to return until after I had wandered to the cash register where some other guy was ringing up a different customer. No one offered me a beverage so I just kind of asked what to do. They pointed me to the cooler in the back of the dining area which had a pretty decent selection of ethnic beverages. As I walked back to the cash register with a Jamaican soda in hand, the second guy at the counter starts ringing up my order and brings a styrofoam container in a plastic bag - my dinner. So, I kind of fumbled around and asked whether I could eat it there (rather than my hotel room 10 miles away). He was surprised, and apologized that the weren't aware that I wanted to eat in. Huh? Anyway, nice guy; he took my dinner out of the box and arranged it on a plate. Again, the meal was nearly a 4-star but had to dock it two stars for the awkward moments. P.S. The restaurant is definitely a classic "hole in the wall." It's basically in the back of a gas station mini-mart in a sketchy area. Price was reflective of that with the entire meal including beverage and dessert pastry for less than $14.

Great place for a Cuban sandwich. If you call ahead it will be ready in ten minutes to pick up. I just recently had the chicken burrito here, very good and I will be ordering that again. Love the plantains. I've been here many many times and only once have I been disappointed with my order.

Excellent food, inexpensive, and quiet atmosphere. It is truly a hidden gem in bradenton. I recommend any of the daily specials and finishing off your meal with a small espresso for the perfect touch

Fantastic, authentic flavor in a low-key atmosphere. Good service. Also BYOB if that matters to you.

The black beans and rice tasted like my Cuban mother made them. The yuca frita was tasty. We have gone back a few times already. Great place.

Tasty cuban and great prices. The grouper cuban and chicken with mojo special are perfect. The owners are really nice and their pastries and deserts are a must.

This place is awful, I can sum this up in one word " garbage" worst Cuban sandwich I have ever had. I wish I could give this place a zero review.

First time trying Cuban food, and will definitely have it again! Service was good and I'm going to break this review down by item: * Guarapo (sugar cane juice) My friend has been telling me to try this for months now, and finally got to taste it! Very good! 8/10 * Guanabana milkshake It's never been one of my favorites, but I have to say if you like guanabana, you'd definitely enjoy it. 7/10 * Mamey milkshake I really enjoyed this one! If you've ever tried lucuma, it's a bit similar to it, but a lot lighter. I can't explain it too well, but I liked this one! 8/10 * Cuban pan con lechon My dad has been wanting to try a Cuban sandwich for a while. I ordered this one and shared a bite (it was forced) and everyone enjoyed it. I'm a bit picky with sandwiches, but this was definitely what I had been hoping for! 8.5/10 Must try this if you're in the area! :)

Very mediocre, at best. I would definitely not go out of my way to come here again. I got a Cuban sandwich, rice and beans, and plantains. My Cuban sandwich was borderline bad. I have eaten tons of Cuban sandwiches all over south Florida including Miami, so I know a good Cuban sandwich; this wasn't it. The black beans tasted like they were from a can! No thanks. The plantains were not sweet at all. They tasted like they weren't ripe or something. I wouldn't go here again.

There are few times in life when you find a Cuban that makes you say "wow... I could eat this every day" but Cafe Havana truely makes the best authentic Cuban sandwich in Bradenton. The bread extremely rich and fresh tasting, complimenting the savory roast pork and ham. They tend to use only 1 slice of pickle on each half, which I find not enough, so be sure to ask for extra if you're a pickle lover. The mango milkshake is also to die for, my whole family loves it. My one complaint is that our server was a little careless and lazy. We had to ask for our check several times and he wasn't doing anything.

For delicious Cuban food on a budget this is the place. Come casual with a group, a couple, or by yourself. The Cuban steak sandwich is delicious and huge. They are known for their authentic Cuban sandwich, made perfectly. Daily lunch specials help with deals for $8.89 that on this day included a 9" Cuban sandwich with Black bean soup and a 20 oz Coke.

The food here is really good. There are not many Cuban restaurants in the Bradenton area. It is sad however that I will not be returning. I ordered a Cuban steak sandwich and was charged 0.60 cents for adding a dab of mayo, 0.60 cents additional for a dab of mustard, 0.60 lettuce and 0.60 tomato. Really? $2.40 extra for putting a bit of mayo, mustard, a bit of tomato and lettuce on a 5.99 sandwich? Its not that I cant afford the extra 2.40, its that I think its a rip off. Plus the waitress also mentioned to us that the entire menu just went up in price. Oh well....
