Excellent high quality fresh food. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. It is a small restaurant so seating is a bit tight but the food and staff definitely make you comfortable and happy. Highly recommend!

Came for a mid-week lunch with the girls and to belatedly commemorate a friends birthday. One of the three of us had eaten here before and raved about the crab salad so we all anticipated a good meal. Sadly, that did not happen. The menu is quite different, a strange mix of Asian, Italian, and Indian plates with pretentious descriptions. Pricey, too, for lunch; crab salad is $21 and ravioli is $14. One had the Fine Herb Chicken Salad, which was quite tasty, though the chicken leaned on the dry/overcooked side. The herbs were unidentifiable and excessive but was overall edible and tasty. Two of us had the Onion Soup Gratinee and side salad. The menu indicates the crouton is their house-made bread. It likely was an old loaf of some type of wheat bread that, in the strangely sour-tasting broth, became a mealy-textured lump under the cheese. We never could discern what, exactly, caused the broth to exude such an aroma and flavor but it was unpleasant on both counts. The side salad was a plate of sliced romaine lettuce with a healthy portion of goat cheese crumbled on top, a slice of pickled beet and roasted red pepper served with their version of Green Goddess dressing (the only salad dressing available in the restaurant). The romaine was nose-crinkling bitter-tasting with every bite. The pickled beet was painfully tart, and the roasted red pepper had an odd texture and even odder taste. The dressing was like a thinned pesto with the most unnatural, unappealing taste. It was so horrible that eating the bitter-tasting lettuce dry was a better alternative. Dessert, only because we were still hungry having been unable to eat more than a few bites of the soup and salad, was mixed. The chocolate almond truffle was really quite good; creamy in the center in a sultry bitter-sweet chocolate shell. The horn of plenty (or whatever it was called) was a puff pastry cradling a mountain of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries that cascaded over a scoop of ice cream covered in pistachio sauce. Sounds really wonderful but the reality was incredibly horrible. The fruit was glazed in some strangely unsweet coating that overpowered the natural flavor of the fruit. The sauce was an odd yellowish color with an odd, most unpleasant flavor to match. We couldn't figure out the ice cream at all, a strange texture almost like melting tofu. We asked about the sauce and were told it was a mix of pistachios, saffron, rosewater, and some other ingredients we could not recall. It was the strangest combination of flavors and was inedible after two bites. The service was exceptional. The young man who waited on us was attentive to the nth degree; we were initially the only people in the restaurant so that could be expected. Upon learning we were celebrating a birthday, the dessert arrived with a lit candle, which was a nice touch and heartwarming surprise. We were never rushed through our meal and he continued to refill our water glasses long the plates were cleared away. Three other tables were occupied by the time we left. Overall, the food was not worth returning for. Rather than try (and fail) to impress with some international culinary specialties that may or may not have been executed well - it was difficult to tell when it was inedible - this interesting little restaurant in the heart of the Village of the Arts should revamp their menu to something more local. It was a wasted $15 on a meal that was left nearly untouched.

Food is great! Staff is very friendly and exited about their place and food. Very nice! A very nice crowd. It is a small place located in.a private house in the middle of the Village of the Arts. Simple, artsy atmosphere with life music. Closes at 9 PM. I really enjoyed tangine lamb. Highly recommend !

What a great find! Nestled off US301, you'll find this quaint, eclectic restaurant at the epicenter of Village of the Arts. My friend and I were looking for a unique experience, and Arts & Eats did not disappoint! We were warmly greeted by all the staff, who took no offense to us sharing our meal. We started with their version of a Greek salad (golden beets, feta, Kalamata olives, etc.) with a very bright herb goddess dressing of parsley, tarragon, and a few other herbs. We found out the herbs are procured from a local church's mission with people with special needs. Next came the Herbes de Provence garlic rustic bread with olive oil and Egyptian hazelnut dip. Steam was coming from the bread when brought to the table, and while dense and delicious dipped in the oil, the hazelnut dip was difficult to maneuver onto the bread and a bit heavy in the cumin department for our taste. Our main course, garlic goat cheese ravioli with pesto sauce had the perfect balance of salty, savory and creaminess. 7 handmade ravioli graced our bowl that was topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese, pine nuts, and adorned with a few basil leaves. Make sure to save some of the bread for sopping up any leftover sauce as you will not want any of it to go to waste. It's a good thing we decided to split everything, because the dessert was divine. Homemade peach cobbler made with fresh peaches, topped with homemade cinnamon ice cream sent us home planning our next trip to Arts & Eats to try many other items our stomachs were to fill to try this go around.

The food is good - a lot of variety. It is not amazing, but it shouldn't be. There is nothing wrong with that. I would go back. The hummus is excellent... and I would suggest anyone start with it, but from there I don't know. The red curry Thai shrimp is tasty, and the Asian sampler was interesting. My guess is that for Bradenton it is some of the best Asian food available. Going the direction of some of the specials might have been a good move. The beef wellington was really recommended highly, and it seemed that every table in the place had one. Since my friend doesn't eat red meat - I only wanted to get items we could share. The thing about this place is the people. They are SUPER friendly. I would go back over and over again just because of the people. From the hostess (owner) to the musician playing that night (not owner), everyone seemed appreciative that we were there, and excited to be able to serve us. Even the waitress worked with us a good bit to sort out the best options on the menu for our meatless adventure.

A lovely eclectic restaurant located in what was once a residence. Colorful with art all over the walls. The staff was fabulous, full of personality. Everyone interacted and was uber friendly. The food was very good. I had the Asian sampler which had lots of good flavors. Someone in our party had the pesto ravioli and raved about it. The scallops, although enjoyed, were not exciting and came with dry rice and broccoli... Boring. Desserts were the highlight with their pastry chef on staff. Jim the owner chef came out and made the rounds from table to table. What a great guy, changed his entire life, transplanting he and his wife from NYC after a fishing trip to FL.. He never looked back and Sarasota is lucky to have the Arts & Eats cafe! Even a trip just for coffee and dessert is a good idea ! Enjoy

This is local cuisine at its finest. "We grew the collards ourselves!" is just one of many statements that impressed my fiance and I. The live music, often including Chef Jim, and the amazing service all add up to a wonderful experience. We had their brisket plate just a few weeks ago, and I took my leftovers home for a late night snack. So delicious! The ravioli is out of this world too. All in all, you've struck gold once you've found this gem tucked away in Bradenton.

Cozy and friendly atmosphere created by people who love what they do. Food is delicious and served as in 5 star fashion restaurant. The tagine dishes are amazing. Try lamb or seafood cooked in this unusual cookware.

Having made a reservation through Open Table well in advance to celebrate a birthday at this establishment, imagine my surprise after driving over an hour to find it 'Closed for the month of August'. It would have been thoughtful had the management checked their reservations and notified those expecting a lovely meal that, instead, they had made other plans. Not too eager to give them another opportunity at disappointing me with so many other wonderful restaurants to choose from. This lack of attention to detail suggests that they truly are not so special.

Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff to Chef Jim was genuinely kind and helpful. The garlic bread with middle eastern spices and hazelnuts was unusually tasty. The pesto goat cheese ravioli was delightful. The fish was a bit overdone. The chocolate cake didn't taste like a restaurant cake. Instead was infuse with the care and energy put into a homemade cake your mom might make. The live music also made this place shine.

What a cool place with exceptional food! My wife and I dined here for lunch for our anniversary. Pictures from a local elementary school adorned the multi colored walls and a mismatch of place settings covered the tables, which gave it a very "old time homey" feeling. There was a musician playing keyboard and singing as well to add to the ambiance. I would never have dreamed up such a combination, but it really works. The food however is the star of the show! We started with bread and oil and Egyptian hazelnuts. I had the pork special which was phenomenal. The pork was incredibly juicy and lightly seasoned with a guacamole sauce drizzled on top. It came with sweet potato fries and a corn, spinach, and jicama salad ( I think those were the ingredients) which were great complimentary flavors. My wife had the ham Naan which which was superb as well. Filled with cheese and roasted red peppers and chimichurri sauce I believe and a honey mustard sauce on the side. Her sandwich also came with sweet potato fries. We wrapped it all up with the all fritters in caramel sauce a la mode which caused us to reenact the dairy queen spoon fight in the commercial. My only regret is how long it took us to try this place out. We can't wait to return.

First time coming to this place. I was defiantly in for a surprise. It's a cute little mom and pop place with awesome live music and tasty food. We had the ravioli and hummus, highlight of the night.

I recently moved to Bradenton and have enjoyed trying many of the great restaurants in the area. Arts and Eats is now one of my top favorites. Fresh local ingredients and an awesome staff, outdoor seating and Arts the cat (sat in my lap and purred !). I had the Asian sampler and it was delicious. They have a $10 special I can't wait to try . I plan on being a regular . Just go. Your welcome!

The lamb is to die for. You can tell the owner is a perfectionist and I can appreciate that. Adorable restaurant set in the village of the arts. We came for dinner but will be back for lunch to visit the surrounding galleries.

I am fairly fussy when it comes to awarding 5 stars but I would give them 6 if I could. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is amazing. I had the nights special of lamb lollipops with macadamia nut crust. I don't remember ever eating lamb I liked better. I considered gnawing on the bones to make sure I hadn't missed any little morsel. I even looked around to see if anyone was looking but decided to just be satisfied by coming back again. You can't go wrong here

We ordered two soups of the day, the dosa, and the hummus dish (for 3 people). Everything was delicious. Dosa was the star. Very attentive service. We went for lunch and it's clear the menu is designed for the dinner crowd. Not too many moderately priced options for lunch but we loved it and the portion sizes are generous enough to split and make for a reasonably priced lunch. Highly recommend!

We vacation on Anna Maria Island and usually don't leave the island until we have to go home. Yesterday I found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Turned out to be a good decision. Arts N Eats is located in a quaint neighborhood in a cute cottage like building. We were warmly greeted at the door by the owner and quickly seated. Our server, Lori, was very pleasant and attentive. We started with an appetizer of dates stuffed with feta cheese and pistachios, served with a balsamic glaze. They were wonderful. The andouille butternut squash mole chili soup was terrific. It came in a soup tureen that must have been warmed in the oven. The mix of flavors was interesting and surprising. Who would have thought that andouille sausage and butternut squash would complement each other so well? My wife had the pan roasted chicken breast with eggplant caponata bruschetta and rosemary garlic confit potatoes. She loved everything! I ordered the seafood tagine with coconut curry, corn, vegetables, and potatoes. This dish was served in what appeared to be a Moroccan ceramic temple. It was chock full of clams, mussels, and large shrimp and a stew of curried corn, vegetables, and potatoes. It tasted amazing. We ordered a bottle of the house chardonnay and it was very good. Now here's the amazing part: our bill, before tip, was only $63.90! Arts N Eats will definitely be on our itinerary from now on.

I love Arts & Eats. It is a welcome change from the chains. The food was excellent, very fresh and the staff is a joy. If you're visiting the area and want a change of pace from the beach restaurants, I highly recommend checking out Arts & Eats.

Hubby and I had the watermelon salad with feta over romain lettuce to start. The contrast with the flavors were just perfectly matched! I order the Goat cheese ravioli with pesto sauce. Was leery it may be too over powering with bold flavors, but again, the maestro made a masterpiece. Hubby had the special, chicken schnitzel over garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes were chunky and tasty! The chicken and sauce were meant to be together. Dessert (because we HAD to have some) was carrot cake and we were fighting over it to finish the one we decided to share. ;) Please try something different and explore their menu! Enjoy!

Food is delicious and always well prepared. The music tends to be overwhelming as far as volume. Trying to converse with friends is impossible. Please Jim be one or the other. A fine restaurant that you are or a music jam venue. There has to be a happy medium. You earn a 5 for food and 1 for the noise. Service was very slow and servers were overwhelmed.

Eclectic restaurant with chef driven menu. We drove here from Anna Maria because of the good yelp reviews. It's located in an interesting area in an old house. The chef came out and he was so interesting and nice and told us about the fish selections and about the menu choices for that night. Our fish (wahoo and Hawaiian opa) was fresh, delicious, and unique. Hawaiian opa is like a white tuna and was moist and well prepared. My daughter got a salad as a meal and added fish. While it was good, she though it could have had more ingredients other than the lettuce such as more roasted pepper, pickled beets, and watermelon raddish because it was mostly lettuce. The server was extremely nice and had gorgeous mermaid artwork she bad made all over the restaurant which we were extremely impressed by. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals and the ambience!

Simply excellent in every aspect. Flavors explode as you enjoy a la minute service that reinforces Chef Jims classical French training. Honest food at reasonable prices created to please even the most adventurous diner in the group. Fresh ingredients prepared with care and understanding that will have you coming back for more. Enjoy the atmosphere as you are welcomed into Jim & Donna's home for a special dinner. Come for the food stay for the music both are healers for your soul.

There is little, if anything bad that could be said about this place. This restaurant is amazing. The food is, though slightly high-end is perfect. I haven't gone through much of the menu, but each item tried has been a divine warmth brought upon a wanting palette. The chef works hard, is a warm personality, and will even move your blood to the beat of the music, which they are known for having at Open Mic Nights. Donna is inviting and warm, a great personality to interact with, and the others are equally accommodating to the atmosphere provided. I would suggest going during Open Mic Night, as it tends to be less busy, but the atmosphere is better, as well as the music. The bands that play on other days can get tiresome to listen to, but only if it is not your style of musical. (Shallow pop music in Classical style) Go. Now. Give them your business and they will take good care of you.

Cute place. Very nice lunch. Burrata and heirloom tomatoes salad was good but pricey. Husband had a sandwich that was good. The Village of the Arts has a ways to go before I'd feel secure walking around at night. Street parking can be a pain, if you have to walk too far...you may run into one of the local ladies...we were propositioned at 2:00 in the afternoon. Mmmm...no thanks, not today. I wish V of A had a more vibrant scene, not just on select Fridays. At night, it can be a bit intimidating.

We ate here on Valentines day for dinner. My wife and I had reservations for 8 pm but our plans changed so we dropped by at 6 pm and they were able to graciously accommodate us. They had a fixed price menu which was quite good. For appetizer my wife had the lobster bisque which she found a little watery and I had the smoked salmon with caviar which was great. For the entree she had the filet mignon and I had the chicken cordon bleu; both menu were beyond expectations. The caramel bread pudding blew the kid though, amazing! The ambiance was charming and the singer was quite good with offerings in Spanish and Portuguese which are our native languages. Service was superlative.

Out of this world!!! Started with a watermelon and feta salad, then grouper in a truffle butter sauce to die for and finished with a carrot cake with mascarpone with honey and lavender!!! This is a must!!!!

Fantastic! Upscaled palettes served with an affordable approach. Chef Jim, French trained and Artisan wife, Donna, create a warm & friendly atmosphere that's well worth the stroll through the Village of the Arts. Jim's burgers are fat filled and fabulous, the way a great burger should be. Served w/ homemade chips and a slab of pickle, it's really genuine and spot on. There are very few items here that are not the exclusive domain and creation of Chef Jim and his specialty breads are a big plus. As for the Goat Cheese & Garlic stuffed Ravioli with a Basil cream sauce topped with pine nuts, another comforting and delightful dish. Meeting special desires and dietary concerns, Jim, willingly and with great care, put forth a special Chicken burger upon request that despite it's red meat component, carried all the fixins of his standard beef burger. With live music, a comfy and very at home feel, Jim & Donna have created a magical place for any one and every taste. Kudos!

Love this place. The food is one- of-kind and so are the chef and his wife. It's like being invited to a friend's house who happens to be a fabulous gourmet cook. The food is divine and the people running the place are the NICEST hosts ever.

Outstanding! We tried this place on a whim and we are so glad we did. From the street it just looks like the other artsy type houses in the Village of the Arts area, but inside is a cozy restaurant. Service, prices and portion sizes are all great for the wonderful food presented. Homemade, freshly baked herb bread, potato leek soup, ribeye and sea bass were all excellent. We will definitely be back. Great experience!!

I had such a remarkable experience at Arts and Eats, and that's what this place creates, an experience. I was working temporarily in the area and was traveling alone and by the time I left, I felt like family. When I first walked in I was greeted by Tony, automatically knowing I'd picked the perfect place to spend my evening. I absolutely adore the house style of this restaurant further creating the family atmosphere they have. I had the catch of the day, which was Grouper and beautifully prepared by Chef Jim, who prepared everything with so much character and art. They had amazing live music to add to the already wonderful ambience. By the end of the night we were all jamming and sharing the love of music, company, and happiness. These individuals are so heart felt and warm spirited and have life just pouring out of them. Jim, Donna, Vivian and Tony are just true delights of the earth and I recommend this place with every fiber of my being, it is truly a one of a kind. Thank you Arts and Eats for one of the most unexpected, kismet, amazing nights!
