This place is well located inside Aventura Mall. It is nice, well decorted steakhouse style... Semi open kitchen makes it look slick! The place is clean and restrooms are also clean! The bar area is quite nice and inviting! As for service, it is above average steakhouse style. Their wine list is quite nice, a little over priced but nice! Their wine glasses are fine and could improve some for the quality of wines served there... Food... Today was not as expected... My bone in rib eye was not as ordered! Always ask rare Pittsburgh style and it was raw Pittsburgh style... That made q huge difference as it had a cold center and being a ribeye fat does not blend in the meat.... Asking them to cook it more would have made it worst! But, will give them another chance! Sides were quite good... The wedge salad was not center heart of the lettuce... That I did NOT like! Dressing was ok. A place to consider.... Enjoy

Garfield and joe are the best bartenders I've had the pleasure of meeting in Aventura, possibly soflo in general. Not only do they make you feel at home and completely comfortable in a fine dining atmosphere, but their happy hour menu is impeccable(4-7). No matter what the other reviews say... their dinner menu is phenomenal. The restaurant in general is a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of Aventura mall. If you're passing by and would like a quick Kobe burger, you'll be blown away. If you're shopping and need a break, Garfield will make you laugh like there's no tomorrow. Try it out, I promise it'll be an experience you will never forget.

Service is excellent. I have been frequenting this place for a few years. The Kobe burger is my go to. But many other delites on the menu are super tasty. If you are looking for an original libation, ask Danny or Constantine to make you something with you preferred spirit base. If it isn't to Miami Heatish, my man loves to enjoy a cigar on their patio. People watching is kind of our thing. At Aventura mall, it gets no better. This is supposedly the 3rd most visited mall in the country. Beautiful people everywhere. Strange ones as well. But who am I to judge. If in Aventura, it is a must visit.

Haven't been here since before yelp existed, so I figured it was time. Went for a post-movie lunch and ordered the cheeseburger - a good measuring stick since it allows for an apples to apples comparison. The space hasn't changed since it opened, which is fine because it's a timeless NY steakhouse setting with dark woods and white tablecloths. I believe the word is "classy." Service was very attentive, but the place was not very busy on a Friday noon, so I wouldn't expect poor service. Server checked on us several times, as did a manager (I'm guessing). So no complaints on service or ambiance. But my reviews really come down to food, and on that score it was "more sizzle than steak." The burger, as photographed, is beautiful, and I had to eat it with a knife and fork it was so big, but it was very plain (best local burger: ROK BRGR). Fries were good, but there was nothing to distinguish them (best local fries: BurgerFi). The peanut cole slaw was a nice change and somewhat unique. I had a bite of ice cream and it tasted like edy's or some mid-tier brand. To summarize: it was very average in every way. If you were staying at Turnberry resort, and wanted to try dining elsewhere, I'd recommend you turn around and stay at turnberry, because it has the best food in Aventura (bourbon steak), and the prices there really aren't that much higher. Well, maybe they are, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'll try GotA again, because I think they have free corkage events and a good happy hour, but on this visit it was middle of the road. I think I prefer Cheesecake Factory next door for variety and value.

I really don't know what people see in this place. The setting and service are fine, but the food is completely uninspired. Maybe when you are traveling, you get tired of eating out and just want something like you would make at home? I don't know, but if you are eating at home you sure aren't paying $20 for a burger. The chicken pot pie is very large, but again, it's not the kind of food you go to a restaurant for and pay restaurant prices for. My visits center around the lunch menu because of when I'm at the mall, but having seen the dinner menu I find it astoundingly expensive for what it is. If you want a white-tablecloth experience, the Grill is there for you, but you'd probably do better at Grand Luxe Cafe (also in the mall) for variety and value.

Garfield is an amazing Bar Tender and just introduced me to my favorite new martini olive. Truly the best bleu cheese olive I have ever had.

The ambiance is very nice, the waitress is good but the food is blah! I ordered a New York steak medium well. It came out well. The meat itself was a very poor cut. It was extremely hard to cut and chew. I was very hungry and in a rush to see. Movie so I ate it. If I didn't have a-1 steak sauce I might have choked. I wondered if the kitchen had non experienced people in it and to my surprise I saw a cook using a meat thermometer on a steak. I guess he can't tell what's cooked correctly by touch and time. My gf had a baked potato. All the toppings came on the side. The potato was undercooked and the toppings were minuscule. Very disappointed with the food.

You will have a delicious luncheon for friends with wonderful service! The managers are always asking how they can be of help and the food is consistently good. One of the things I like the most are there mushrooms and the broccoli is tasty as they made very specifically and taste excellent. Needless to say it's a dessert of the fruit tart is one-of-a-kind and large enough for more than two to share.

Ate at the bar last night, bartender Jason very helpful. He made me honey mustard which I thought was sure going the extra mile for a guest. Burger very good. A little expensive for a burger but it's the mall so maybe that factors in. I would go back and I do recommend this spot in general but its for sure not for everyone. Kind of a hybrid between a steakhouse with the prices and fine dining service characteristic but being in a very heavily trafficked mall. I completely could see why someone would not want to maybe spend that much on a lunch or dinner in this setting.

I love coming to this place after walking around the mall. I like to sit at the bar and enjoy their happy hour menu. Their salmon is so tasty as it is cooked to where the surface is crispy. The ahi sashimi is also a must try as it is prepared by searing it lightly with olive oil and sesame seeds. The service is always great at this place, they are always friendly and very entertaining. They know the menu so well that you give them little hints to figure out what will satisfy your craving. I love their menu has it is easy to read. I recommend sipping on some wine and trying out all their appetizers like chicken pot pie and fried calamari. This place is good to bring some friends and watch some games by the bar. There is also an outside patio so when the weather is nice take some sunscreen and enjoy the sun.

We were looking for a nice quiet place to grab a drink and an appetizer before we had to meet our kids after their movie in the mall. We found this place to get away from the craziness of the Cheesecake Factory. What a find! We sat in the bar area which was classy and quiet. The wAit staff were very friendly and attentive. And the happy hour menu was amazing. We had a carafe of wine for a mere $15. And filet mignon skewers which melted in your mouth over a bed of delicious mashed potatoes. We also had ahi tuna tacos which were pretty good. The burger was so good and so filling. Hardly a small bite yet priced like it was. I highly recommend this fine eating establishment!

Great surprise to see a resto in a mall that looked like a New York steakhouse. Very attentive staff. Food took awhile to come but well worth the wait. The prime Kobe like meat burger that was not on the dinner menu is a must try. I ordered the salmon and it was very fresh and delicious. The tuna tartare for appetizer was good too. You can't skip the dessert and coffee. The key lime pie is almost good for two servings so will be good to share. The Cafe Au Lait was fantastic. All in all, impressive. Will definitely cone back soon.

I want to dive head first into their chicken pot pie. I don't get why this place isn't always packed. When you find yourself searching for food while shopping in the Aventura Mall, skip the food court, walk quickly past the Cheesecake Factory and enjoy a delicious meal at The Grill. Also, they have one of the best Happy Hours in South Florida.

I was extremely hesitant to come here especially considering the prices, but I figured YOLO. I'm glad I came here and will definitely be returning. First off, this place is gorgeous. The open layout of the kitchen and the wine room and even the bar - the interior designers of this place did a fabulous job. I love how the kitchen can be viewed from anywhere in the restaurant. Our waitress came over and she was super jolly and friendly. And even the chef came over to talk to us as well. The service is exceptional. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer, and we were curious to see if it was any good because it was a steakhouse after all. Boy we were surprised. The calamari was so fresh and it came with the tarter sauce that went perfectly with the fried goodness of the calamari. The sauce was extremely flavorful and made the calamari. I was craving a burger so I decided to try the Kobe Burger against my better judgment ($23.00 price tag) and it was easily one of the 5 best burgers I've ever had. The kobe beef is so juicy and tender. It came with truffle mayonnaise which was out of this world! I asked for cheese on my burger but I shouldn't have ordered it. The cheese took away the flavor of the meat but it was a great burger nonetheless. I absolutely recommend the kobe beef burger to anyone who is willing to try it. My sister got the chicken pot pie and first off it was HUGE not to mention absolutely delicious! (See picture enclosed) After a long day of shopping, the Grill on the Alley was a perfect place to end our day. Granted the prices are pretty high but it was a great experience and we definitely got our money worth. Service is definitely one of a kind. Go check them out, you won't regret it!

Omg you have to try the lobster mash! The best I've had thus far it also goes very well with the "Brick Chicken" sooooo amazing love the place and the prices are very very reasonable .

One star because as I currently sit at the bar, management decided to turn down the music to turn up the super bowl. Sorry this isn't a sports bar. Food and drinks are very good, don't let the mall fool you.

I have been wanting to come to this place for a while. Unfortunately it was not up to my expectations. As I walked in, the hostess gave us a table. She was very friendly. It took about 10 minutes for the waiter to come. After he showed up, he took our drink order and did not bring the menu. Ten more minutes and passed and he took our order. I ordered the New York steak with mashed potatoes. It was very tasty and perfectly cooked, however the mashed potatoes never arrived. I had to ask the waiter ( when he finally came to check in on us) what happened and he brought it right away. When I asked for the check he stood close to the table waiting for me to pay ( the only time that he spent time close to the table) and he even asked -are you ready?- My friend was half way through her drink so I replied no For this to be a "high end" place the service is not good at all.

We stopped here to take a break from shopping and have a few drinks. After being treated poorly by a server at Cheesecake Factory, we were looking for something fun and relaxing with excellent service and yummy drinks. This place has it all! Our server was phenomenal and the drinks were out of this world. We were also looking for a small snack and the chef made up a fruit and cheese plate for us, off the menu. The service was amazing as several servers checked on us throughout our experience. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back!

We've been going there since it opened. it's been nice even with a few hick ups along the way. Today was different, a family walked in with two little dogs and let them sit INSIDE, yes of course they claimed "service dog" as more and more people continue to abuse the system. The worst part was that one of the dogs sat at one of the chairs and put his head on the table, the manager never went to the table after we requested for him to say something to these people. It has to be a some law that makes this "unhealthy"

    (3)
  • Lori S.

The service was exceptional. It exceeded my expectations by far. Don't be fooled by this place's close connection to a busy mall; you would never know it while inside. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The wine selection was excellent. And yes! The kids menu was perfect too! Give this steakhouse a try for sure!

After our initial not so great experience we returned after receiving a complimentary gift card from one of the managers. Im very happy to give them a second chance. This time service and food was great and up to part with any prestigious steakhouse. We both had the filet mignon which was very taste!

Went here a couple of years back and thought I'd do them the favor of leaving a review. It was a delicious experience. I had the lobster and steak and wine. My date was also pleased with his meal. Very expensive though and the waiters do not show you the attention they should for the price that you pay.

We went for lunch at 3:15 pm, ordered at 3:20 pm, with the intention of catching a 4:30 movie. The appetizer (Brussels sprouts!) arrived at 4:00 pm. We noticed that the two tables next to us, who were seated way after us, got their meals served AND finished them before we got our main courses. Their beverages were refilled, their waiter checked on them, we were all but ignored. Of course we got the "your-food-will-be-out-in-two-minutes" spiel. The dishes arrived at 4:20, along with the bill and never a "how was everything ? Or "have a nice day." The halibut on special (for a 5" x 3" portion at $42.00) was delicious. The baked potato was dry, hard and tasteless. My grilled chicken came out cold/room temperature and wasn't anything special at all. We seemed to be the only Americans in the place. Hmmmm. I'd been to Grill when it first opened dozens of times, but this was my last. Two thumbs down for service and value.

Stopped for lunch and sat at the bar. Was in sort of a rush so I figured the bar would be a little quicker than sitting at a table.... Wrong! I ordered a burger and it took over a half hour. Another guest sitting across from me who came in after me had his food coming out before mine! Besides that the bartender seemed overwhelmed and was not on top of his game for the amount of guests that were at the bar. Other guest were getting pissed along with myself about the long wait for food, check etc. Most importantly, the burger wasn't that great at all for the fancy type of restaurant this is. Maybe I would give them another try but this visit wasn't a great experience.

Nice decor and ambience. Really thoughtful service as well! Had the calamari and steak salad. I asked for the steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection! The manager Adam stopped and checked on me and my guests. Such a nice gesture! Will be going back soon!

We were looking for a nice place to have a ladies night and we very impressed. From start to finish the service was an A+. The food was excellent (especially the artichoke spinach dip - it's a MUST!) We had cucumber gimlets and they were perfect. The manager, Adam, was attentive and I can tell he loves his job. Everyone was so nice and informed. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend The Grill if you are looking for great service and amazing food.

For an upscale restaurant they need some small adjustments but in general it is a nice place. Prices vary depending on the dish you will order making it affordable for everyone, only your choice will be limited. The service is good when the restaurant is empty. If restaurant is full expect to wait to place your order, to receive your food and make sure you ask for everything you need because the waitor wont be back soon. That's where they lose one star for me...

My mother and I were skeptical at first about if the prices of the food here was worth it, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was exceptional, the proportions of food were nice, the quality and freshness of everything was impressive, and the service was warm and welcoming. The oysters were fresh, the salmon and cream spinach were cooked to perfection, and the baked potato was huge and tasty. We will be back

Went here for our anniversary and EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! Very attentive, amazing food, and nice atmosphere. I haven't had such an incredible experience at a restaurant like this in years. I'm kind of picky with things but this place blew our minds. My husband had the Brick Chicken and I had the Salmon with mushrooms. For the sides we had onion rings, spinach mash potatoes, and asparagus. (I was not paid to write this!!)

Today was my first and last time visiting this restaurant. First off which upscale steakhouse runs out of beer on a Friday afternoon? Service was slow and the restaurant wasn't even full. My friends and myself opted to sit outside to enjoy the weather. Our server was almost non existent, we had to flag her down to get water, order drinks and food! I like the overall ambiance of the restaurant but I had a huge problem with the servers in noticeably soiled white coats and unkept appearances. The drinks were okay but nothing special. The food was disappointing to say the least. We ordered the garden salad, chicken pot pie, the blue burger, steak tacos, onion rings and crab cake sidekicks (sliders). The salad was a salad, the chicken pot pie was delicious, the crab cake slider was good, the steak taco was awful stale taco shell, bland beef, and hard non marinated cabbage with tasteless sour cream. The burger was supposed to be cooked medium but when it got to the table it was a well done meat disc covered in blue cheese. Once again we had to flag down our server to tell her about our food, she quickly took the bad tacos and the burger and ordered a new burger, the burger was taking longer than usually so we ordered it to go. Not giving up hope we asked about dessert options and decided on the Grand Marnier creme brûlée and the brownie pie with sugared pecans and vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were delicious even though I don't care for creme brûlée. My burger finally came in its to go box we paid and left. Some time later I'm home and about to devour my burger I cut it in half and the burger is...rare I stare at it in disbelief for 2 minutes before I attempt to eat it. I took one bite and placed my rare bland dry burger back in its container and place it in the fridge...all in all thanks The Grill on the Alley for making tonight a peanut butter and jelly kind of night after all the money I spent!!!

Stop by Tuesday for some grub before hitting the shops, good food as usual and great service by Juan which replaced our not so memorable last experience at the bar, but our waitstaff are always welcoming and friendly. Before leaving we mentioned our last situation to Juan who got us Paul the on duty mgr who opologized for our last experience and took care of us. I commend Philip the general manager reaching out to make amends for his staff, showing pride for the business and concern for his customers. So Kudos to Management of Grill on the Alley Aventura's. Thank You

Service was friendly attentive, manager amazing apologized for something he nor the waiters did, chef disappointing. Place is dead not a table in sight and he refused my daughter an alfredo with angel hair, because it is not an item that he has a recipe for. All chefs can make alfredo, never had a problem anywhere else. So then I get my daughter plain angel hair with butter, she could not eat it so much salt. We spent over 300 dollars and he would not make the alfredo? I expect better from a place of this caliber. I wonder why we sat outside on an empty patio, as the other two places around had business. Refuse to eat here again. Thank you but NO!

Haven't been here in some time but I did stop in on the Holiday's for a drink and they are always crowded so when a quick thunderstorm put a limit on our driving tonight it was off to "The Grill On the Alley" in the Aventura mall area near AMC 24 for a quick bite. Parking is free (Mall) but on the flip side this area of the mall is always mobbed beyond belief. $7.00 Valet parking is available no validation provided by dining establishments in this area. 8:30 on a Friday Night and there is a wait for dinner. Sit up to the bar and one bar chair is rocking almost fell out while the bar itself is not cleaned & sticky. Garfield our bartender offers us a look at the "Cellar Selections" which are all 50% off bottles rather than $14.00 per glass of wine so a $24.00 bottle of Simi Cabernet is a great value. Finally seated in corner round booth and waitress seems uninterested in us due to the fact we purchased bottle of wine at bar and brought it to table.. Dining room itself has couple of nooks and crannies with tables, booths, and a modern steakhouse feel. Finally get around to ordering and we split a chopped wedge salad with tomatoes, blue cheese wet & crumbled, red onion & bacon. Cold and very tasty but $10.75 price tag was overkill as split it was not a very large order. Nice hot sourdough bread was good, but at this point we can't find out Missing in action waitress to order dinner. Once we do find her, it is my standard NY Strip with loaded baked potato $44.00 includes the side or vegetable. Other entree is Sea Scallops in a butter, wine reduction with grilled asparagus. Entrees arrive and I'll give both of them excellent ratings very good quality & tasty. Asparagus fine, but the baked potato, was hard and absolutely ICE COLD. 10 more minutes go by and still can't find the Missing in action waitress again have to fine secondary server to get me garlic mashed potatoes instead. These were excellent. At this point another bottle of Simi is ordered. Come to find out that the bottles are only 1/2 price IN THE BAR.... without too much fanfare the rectified the situation but this is poor communication on everyone's part. No deserts were tried, nor was coffee but once again our Missing in action waitress took us forever to get the check UGH!. Price points were high, as in big time steak house high though I can't say the food and especially the service live up to the expectations for these prices. Ice cold baked potato totally unacceptable, as was the missing in action waitress and her disinterest once we had a bottle brought from the bar. Hey we didn't bring out own, we bought it there. Its 2.5 Stars but no more for me.. For these price points you have to deliver a bit more and this wasn't it.

I went to dinner with a great friend for the holidays.. I must say, the service was exceptional. Lorenzo was incredibly personable and made my friend and I have quite a great evening. He recommended a fine bottle of wine and always had a smile on that made the night very warm and comfortable. We went with a fresh shrimp cocktail and wine. A jazz musician played that added a nice ambiance to the evening. On top of it all... Lorenzo brought us their signature desert dish to end the night! We will certainly return! Incredible, incredible night!

Extended happy hour until 7pm is the only thing that is worthy at this place. The bartenders are not attentive as this is not my first time going but it's so annoying to see an empty bar with 2 bartenders and no service. I even saw 2 martinis go back because obviously something was wrong. We had to ask for the check 3 times as we were trying to be patient bc we had a movie to catch. Previous times trying the food was nothing to write about. Best suggestion, go to Rosalias or cheesecake!

At the Mall. Shopping had made me hungry. So picked this as the premium restaurant in the area! Had a nice booth and decent service. Food was large on size and small on flavour. Too bland and under seasoned. I had the chicken pot pie massive with nice pastry. Creamy chicken inside mostly carrot as vegetable. Like the rest of the table I felt the food was ok. Wouldn't rush there again but not sure I have much choice in the area

For me, the Grill on the Alley brings back nice memories of LA , and, if you look closely (and perhaps use your imagination), it still has a very slight taste of that "next door to CAA" old school Hollywood vibe. I'm actually more impressed by the food, which is a bit more refined, modern take on the Palm's cuisine. I had a great filet mignon, others in my party had a great NY Strip, sea bass, and chicken piccata, too. Their french fries are super, too. Solid wine list, very good salads, big portions for the price. And it definitely has a suitably "Grill in the Alley" type-decor. All in all, the Grill on the Alley sits well with me, despite the fact that this grill is right next to the Aventura valet line, rather than a Beverly Hills alley. It's definitely not a studio commissary. but I'll plan to come to this solid, high quality grill with great prime steaks more often.

Great food. Excellent service was very surprised that for a Mall eatery they offer an exceptional dining experience.

I read all the great reviews on Yelp and Foursquare and was excited to finally try this place. I don't know if I went on a bad day or what, but the food was beyond sub par. The spinach and artichoke dip was decent, but Van Dyke Cafe's is way better. Their tilapia was so spicy I couldn't finish it and their chicken picatta was lacking flavor. The only thing I enjoyed was their key lime pie. Pretty heart-broken about my experience. I expected so much better.

UPDATE REVIEW: After my nasty rant below the manager Jeff personally contacted me on Yelp and later called me to get the full details of my evening. Jeff's sincerity and willingness to make up my terrible evening brought me back for round two The Grill on the Alley. This time my waiter was impressive. A younger guy, in his early twenties but very knowledgeable about the food and more importantly well mannered!! He suggested the artichoke & spinach dip. Which is to dieee for!!! This is NOT, I repeat NOT that nasty microwavable TGIF version of goeww! I can't even describe it, its just awesome...order it!!! Next was our entrees, I ordered the steak salad and the BF went with the Kobe beef burger. My only gripe was that my meat & my onion rings were cold. :( Still the salad is good, I substituted the ranch dressing for Blue cheese (my fave) which definitely put it over the top for me. The Kobe beef burger was to die for as expected. They add a black and white truffle mayo that is insanely flavorful. Overall it was a great experience and I will return. A special Thanks to the manager Jeff who really goes out of his way to make sure every customer is satisfied :)

Don't tax this restaurant to accommodate any special dietary needs here, or even refill your ice tea. They can't seem to figure it all out. Just had a dismal meal there - in fact 2 of the 3 of us did. We asked for pretty easy adjustments to a salad and a burger and the kitchen was perplexed. Should have realized that the waiter wasn't joking when he said "wait 'til the kitchen sees this". All we asked for was the removal of a bun and the replacement of french fries with lettuce on one plate, and the removal of 3 items on a salad. Simple, right? Just make the plate look good with the remaining things as they are listed on the menu. That's all. But nope. Couldn't do it. They decided to take everything off the salad and provide fruit instead of lettuce. And don't bother expecting to get a refill on ice tea or water. Once the waiter got wind of our frustration with our plates - the runner had to deal with our issues - he was no where to be found. Wouldn't make eye contact. I had to call him across the patio to re-request my ice tea refill. And all this for a $75 lunch??? Really? I almost gave them 2 stars thinking this was an unusual situation, but I can't have been the first person to be avoiding carbs to walk into the restaurant.

Way over priced for what it is. It's a nice place and the food is good but still unjustified. We like good places and don't mind paying a little for better service and food but like I said its unjustified. Also they need to work on organization (especially the hostess desk)

My favorite place in Miami. Great drinks. Good service and excellent steaks. Highly recommended. A little pricey but worth it

It is very convenient if you are in the Aventura Mall and want to have a good steak or meat meal. We ordered Kobe cheeseburger with fried onions, angus beef: 8 Pumpkin soup: 10 Caesar Salad: 7 Skirt Steak with baked potato as a side dish: 8 Service: 8

Great happy hour. And super reasonabke. Ask for Lorenzo because he is the best server we've had in Miami. He's been here since the opening of the restaurant and we came on the anniversary of their opening. He's very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He was great company as well being super outgoing and personable. The happy hour food is great. I recommend the tuna sashimi and Kobe burger.

Grill on the Alley has taken a complete corporate change. Definitely no longer the same restaurant. My husband and I always enjoyed our date nights here, in which we'd split all our orders. For being considered a steakhouse they no longer have ribeye nor porterhouse steaks. They've also taken off their carrot cake. Wine list offers a minimal selection for glasses by the wine. In tonight's visit, although reasonably occupied it was evident the staff and kitchen were stressed. Originally the hostess said we could not be accommodated as they were reserved all night. Immediately as we stepped away I was able to make online reservation with Open Table for 30 minutes. Once we left the hostess completely ignored us, not acknowledging us with a good evening. If you're looking for a decent, overpriced dinner at Aventura Mall, this is the right place to dine. Otherwise, this is no longer a special date night nor the spot for a great steak. Sad we won't be coming back. 2 stars reflects the aesthetics of the restaurant and effort of the waiters.

I have had lunch here several times. The main attraction of the place is convenient location if you happen to be at the mall, and it's easy to get a table (no waiting like at the Cheesecake Factory). However it is not a restaurant you choose for the food. It's not bad, but there is nothing particularly tasty. In fact it's not much better than Applebee's! Since the steaks are not the best, I suggest opting for simple dishes. I usually have things like steak quesadilla, fish tacos or blackened tilapia. It's nutrition, it's not a culinary experience.

Had dinner last night for a date night. Perfect restaurant for a date. Even though it is in a mall, it remains a pretty nice and upscale restaurant. We sat outside and were promptly served with water and warm bread by our waiter. The bread (country loaf) is good with a very thick crispy crust. I ordered the appetizer jumbo lump crab cake (4oz crab cake in butter sauce - $15.50) and a bowl of gazpacho soup ($7). The crab cake was very good with a delicious creamy butter sauce. But it is just good for an appetizer, not for dinner even if paired with a side. You can get crab cakes for dinner, you'll have two crab cakes and fries ($32.50). The gazpacho was fresh but is not chopped and smooth, you have full pieces of onions, tomatoes and avocado. It is uh.... interesting. My husband got the calf's liver with caramelized onions and bacon ($25). The portion is HUGE!! Be hungry!! And it looked delicious (maybe too much onions...?) I wanted to share dessert but no more room for hubby so I went to 4D for some ice cream... Overall, very nice place, I will definitely go back to try new (bigger) items for me!

terrible, service is bad, burgers were burnt, no flavor, the waiter never even came to check on our food and how we were doing. and when we called him over, he just ignored us. I would give this place 0 stars if that were an option. don't waste your money, this place is not worth it.

After a long day shopping we spotted this place. We were seated quickly for dinner since there was no wait. Our server was very friendly and quick with refills etc. The filet mignon was delicious as was the Kobe beef Hamburger. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good too. For dessert we ordered the strawberry shortcake which looked and tasted great. Overall, it was about $130 with tip for three people to eat a great meal. The place has a 4 star atmosphere but with a level of comfort instead of the jacket only 5 star places. Shorts and a tshirt would be a bit underdressed but jeans and a polo would be enough. I will include a pic of our dessert. Definitely recommend the place if you don't mind shelling out some bucks since everything was worth the cost.

Been back to this restaurant a few times because it's close to home and convenient for me, and am trying to find a reason to improve my former two star rating. I did try the spinach dip that's world class and probably the best I've ever had. Add that to the things they fight (inconsistently) to get right and I can stretch them (generously) to almost a third star. I wish I could give 2.5. The GM tries his best to make improvements and I really do like him and wish him success, but a $10 "very small" wedge salad with an entrée (especially at lunch) is still too high. Houston's down the street has a much bigger one that is better for $6.50 w/an entree. I consider "The Grill" and "Houston's" in the same class and approx. price restaurant. Houston's is far more consistent and has management that will do anything for you to be happy with absolutely "NO" excuses. They make you want to come back and it shows with a waiting list every time I go in (once a week at least). (Grill MGT. "Pay attention here"!!!! Hillstone Group-Houston's does hospitality right!!!...No Excuses!) I recently had the skirt steak at the Grill, and it "WAS" tasty although paper tissue thin. It was overdone because I was not asked the temperature I wanted it to be and they assumed medium well. To be fair it was so thin, it would have been difficult for it to be anything but a bit overdone. The steak salad is the best way to go because you get a nice size portion of both steak and salad at a decent value. The Cheesecake Factory and Rosalia's Italian a few steps away offer up a better value with just a tiny bit less atmosphere (if that matters to you). If you get the spinach dip as a starter it will make your entire meal a better experience, but stick to my recommendations if your a foodie and care. The Pot Pie, Gourmet Burgers, Brick Chicken, Steak Salad will not diassapoint. Everything else, your on your own. I get the feeling that the "Grill" is trying to compete with Morton's, Ruth's Chris, Abe & Louis in Boca or "Capitol Grill" which they are definitely "NOT" ,but have similar prices for beef and a smaller salad ($10 with an entre'e...at LUNCH????) The Grill on The Alley is a nice place to eat, but there's a reason they're never as busy as the other two restaurants in that courtyard. If they would only improve a few little things, they would be deserving of another additional star. I don't get the impression that it's going to happen any time soon. Sometimes a few pennies spent on a portion, returns big results. The Cheesecake Factory has the better business model although "The Grill" has the nicer atmosphere. CheeseCakeFactory salads are huge, and it's only a little more lettuce, creating the "we're coming back here" mentality of todays customer? We customers need a "WOW" factor and other than the spinach dip, I am still looking for one at the Grill. As I said, a few little inexpensive tweaks and the "Grill" could be a busier, better place. It's fundamentals are reasonably good. You obviously can't fool the customers, because the other two restaurants in that location are far busier than the "Grill" on a regular basis. I'll keep you posted. If things change I'll update!

I always feel like an elderly person from Aventura when I eat here. Funny enough I kind of enjoy that. Normally a place like Grill on the Alley is not my style. Mainly it's a quasi chain (restaurants in Beverly Hills, Dallas, and maybe Vegas) and kind of caters to the Capital Grille/Oceanaire demographic. Not usually my style, but I do enjoy this restaurant quite a bit. I enjoy it much more than Capital Grille and Oceanaire actually. I probably come here only when I'm going to Aventura Mall to see a movie. Usually we'll stop here for a light supper or drinks at the bar before the movie. My favorite part about coming here is the great bar menu. It has lots of affordable and substantial bar snacks and they have an amazing happy hour where those bar snacks are substantially reduced in price (until 7 or 8 I think). Also came here a couple of times and split entrees. They do a very nice steak here. The staff is very friendly and the service has been on point every time. Eat here and live like the Aventura elderly do :)

Great martinis. We are visiting after a horrid dinner with relatives and I felt relaxed one minute after walking in here. My mother got a Ruby Red Lemon Drop martini, and I got the old standard cosmo. Both are amazing. Garfield is a great bartender. Service with a smile. Not cheap but worth it.

4.5 stars Sat at a hightop at the bar today for a lunch with some good friends to celebrate a birthday. Service was a little slow. Not crazy slow but just leisurely slow in keeping with the atmosphere of the restaurant which is a bit anxiety inducing when you have three people who seldom have time for lunch sitting down together (which is why we sat at the bar area). In any event. I guess it was my fault for not telling the bartender/waitress that we were on a lunch break. I'll know for next time, but having said that, we WERE in and out within an hour. Maybe it was just me, not being able to transition from URGENT to hey...it's lunch, relax. Had a regular burger cooked medium. It came with onion rings. I was joking with my friend that she could have one of my two onion rings...alluding to the fact that usually at an establishment like this the portions are usually expected to be small. We were hungry sitting down but DANG...my burger was like half a ground up cow. It was big, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm so glad I didn't give in to my inner vulture and also order a soup or salad. A lot of onion rings!!! I could only manage half of it. I am losing it a half star this time because I feel that as we were the only table at the bar area and there was only one person sitting at the bar the service could have been much faster from the bartender. But it looked like she might have been helping on the floor also. No complaints though from management because they popped by twice to make sure everything was OK. Considering the amount of food we got for the prices, I found it to be quite reasonable for the pocket.

There were more employees than guests, including 3 managers and still we got slow service. Sat at the bar for happy hour and even though they weren't busy, it took approx. 10 min for someone to acknowledge us. Food took forever for such a small portions. Beautiful, nice, fancy restaurant with poor customer service. Happy hour prices are not that "happy".

I can't get enough of The Grill on the Alley. Where do I begin? I usually go during Happy Hour time which provides a menu of items to choose from that cannot compare to any other. You get true upscale dining/fun ambiance all in one. The burgers are amazing, the calamari is outstanding. Availability of drinks is also amazing. They offer something for everyone. Most places give you the option of 3-4 cocktails and a 3 beer brand selection. To top off the greatness the bartenders/servers are just amazing! When I go there the waiter always remembers me and my friends.. His name is Garfield!! He makes the experience even better! Waits on us VIP style!

Have been to this restaurant for dinner and lunch and for the bar bites. Food is really very good no matter when you eat. Tonight was another good night. We got out of the movies early and decided to eat an early dinner. We walked in the front patio door and were seated into a booth. Service and food was excellent. The manager came by a couple of times to see if everything was o.k. How lucky Aventura Mall is to have this terrific restaurant in it. You can order BarBites to Burgers to steaks &Chops. Something for everyone. Enjoy!hh

The first time I had been to this restaurant has been on a freebee when they were testing there services and I was luckily chosen as their feeding Guinea pig. I honestly have never ordered anything here outside of their Steak Salad. I'm a bad creature of habit, and when I love something, I won't have anything else. Not that I haven't munched on a huge basket of bread or had a nice dessert. Yum! But their steak salad is to die for! The prices are very reasonable considering it looks like an expensive mall restaurant.

I have read the other reviews and have to say unfortunately my experience was different, so that is all I can write about. Upon review the best part of the meal was the salad (Grill on the Alley Chop); very good. I went with the Ribeye and am sorry to say it had NO flavour!! ZIP, Nada, None.. My grill at home imparts more flavor. Plus I had to send the french fries back, they were lukewarm and LIMP! I asked the waiter to bring me the shoestring fries which he did, but for me there is nothing like REAL french fries with a steak. To top it off the coffee was like dishwater! At this point, I didn't want to complain anymore, I'm really not a complainer but I really dislike MEDIOCRE food. Is that why they were half empty on a Saturday night? The manager did comp a dessert, WHOPEE, when I'm paying $42 for a steak, I expect perfection not lacklustre meat I have to douse with salt and pepper.

We went to the mall to run a non-successful errand and needed to eat dinner on MLK Monday, 16 Jan 2012, evening at around 6pm. I looked at the mall guide and saw a "grill" and without knowing anything said "we're going there." Wow. Service and food of this caliber in a mall? Mike R, our server was phenomenal. We had 12 oysters, the mignonette and horseradish were perfect. Oysters on a Monday in February? Risky, but they were excellent. My wife had a strip, I had the peppercorn strip. Both perfectly cooked to medium rare. Fantastic asparagus and mixed green salad sides. Carrot cake for desert, 6 layers, fresh whipped cream, hit the spot. (my Remy XO helped out). Excellent food, friendly/polite/fast service, in the mall??? Worth the money, we will be back.
