Terrible service. Mediocre food. I normally buy pizza by slice but they don't serve it after 4pm. I asked what would be a good size for sharing (between medium and large) they recommended the medium and said it "comes with 6 slices", but what we got a PERSONAL PIZZA, for $12 for plain cheese it felt like I was robbed. I mentioned that was not what I expected and I wanted the bigger size and the lady threw the menu in front of me and said "I should have read it" :/ They certainly won't be getting our business again.

I have to give this place a 5! I know it's just a pizza place but it's the best and it's my favorite and their the only place I order from and I want to give it a 5! Their pizza is just soo good. Very cheesey and not too much sauce. I hate place that dump tons of sweet sauce all over the top (Anthony's, I'm talking to you). They use a little sauce, LOTS of cheese and LOTS of toppings and the pizza is thin and traditional, none of this no edge crust (again, Anthony!). The crust at Marios has thick edges that eat like breadsticks at the end of each slice and the crust is thin all the way around with the cheese slightly browning and bubbly. The pizza is greasy, but not too bad, just the way it should be. I always order get my signature pepperoni and pineapple. Hey, it's what I like and then I'm a happy camper. I hear that their sides and pastas are good also. I really don't know. I just LOVE the pizza and I've never actually even been to the restaurant. I like to believe that there's a magical little man named Mario making the pizza somewhere. I don't wanna see some fat old Cuban guy behind the stove. This is why I will probably never go pick up my pizza. Just so I can keep the fantasy alive in my head. mmmmm Mario, you're yummy.

The most amazing, incredible, delicious, perfect, orgasmic italian food in miami. The pizza is awesome, the people are awesome, and they have the sickest cheese canneloni i have ever tried in my life. And no, I do not work there or know anyone that works there. All i can say is those canneloni and garlic rolls are better than sex.

This place has recently started to chain out, but this original location has the old school road food-diners, drive ins and dives kind of vibe. I'm from Miami and this is one of the only places I stop at when I go visit. Honestly, I don't care about anything else other than the super amazing garlic rolls. Soft and yeasty dripping in oil, garlic and oregano. I recommend dumping some parmesean on your plate and dipping in that. I actually haven't had the pizza. The lasagna is different and rock solid as is the baked ziti. When I get those two dishes I always get a side of meatballs too. Otherwise, I get a sub also on super fresh and soft homemade bread, making sure to get some hot peppers on the side. But those garlic rolls are pure heaven. Prices are super cheap too. Lots of specials.

I know so many people that love this place but I can't stand it. The food is out of its way greasy.

Good service. Speed is a little on the slow side, but primary due to a small staff. Very good food.

I can remember visiting the original Mario the Baker for as long as I can remember. My parents used to take me and it was one time when we'd all really pig out, shoving our garlicky garlicky rolls into a pile of grated Parmesan and then into our mouths! I was sad when my mom recently told me that the original location was closed but I was glad to see how many other locations have popped up since the days of the one and only original. I was still kinda worried though... Would this location hold a candle to the original? I of course came with my parents, for old time's sake, and we let my husband tag along. :) We were pleased with the parking lot but a but surprised to see the very limited seating inside. Luckily we got there in time for one of the two 4-seaters. It was pretty busy! We ordered a dozen garlic rolls and a large special pizza, and my dad got his favorite chicken cutlet. Everything was exactly the same as it's always been at Mario's. Gotta love consistency. Mmm, the garlic rolls and pizza were to die for. I mean, i am usually a relatively healthy eater, but at Mario's all bets are off. There was only one server but since the place is small it worked out okay. Note that they don't have a liquor license, so there's not even beer or wine. Just enjoy some soft drinks!! I have never ever had enough room for dessert after eating at Mario's. However, I discovered that they have cannoli so that may change soon. I was super pleased with my blast from the past visit. Bonus: we have leftovers in the fridge right now!! Dinner time!

We have ordered from this place many times it was always one of the better pizzas. Something must have changed in the five months we ordered because this past week was horrible. The pizza was literally raw the dough was like jello and the chicken dish was like soup. This literally was the worst pizza I have ever had. Service and delivery are good but they need to seriously evaluate who is cooking and look at the crap they are serving. So disappointed.

Fast and friendly. The service was great guy at the front was very attentive about if we needed anything. Food was delicous and fresh which is always a plus. I would defenitely recommend!

You can always count on Mario the Baker. Quick delivery and hot amazing food. We always order their chicken parm and pizza. The sauce is the best. This is a great place to go to if you need a good meal and don't want to cook.

Only giving this place one star because it won't allow me to give zero. We have ordered from this place many times before. The food is average at best but it they deliver and we can order via GrubHub so its easy. We ordered a pizza from here to be delivered. The pizza arrived and it was not what was originally ordered. When we called to inform that it was incorrect, the person who answered the phone stated "Ok, we will send another pizza.". At least an hour and a half goes by. No pizza. We called back and the person who answered the phone states "We think we made the pizza right the first time so we aren't sending another one." Did they bother to call and let us know that they wouldn't be sending another pizza? Nope. So during the course of this conversation I asked to speak to a manager. I was placed on hold and a manager came on the line. I explained my situation to him and he promptly hung up on me. I tried repeatedly to call back and could not get anyone to answer the phone. Guess they had caller ID because when I called from a different number they picked up on the first ring. When I explained I wanted to speak to a manager about a incorrect order I was promptly hung up on again. After repeated tries I finally got someone to answer the phone. I asked to speak to a a manager and was placed on hold, waiting for Adrian, the manager and guess what happened? They hung up on me. So I decided to drive up there. When we got there, the girl who answers the phone and works the counter, who's name is Jenna (so she said), proceeded to argue and argue....made no attempt at any service recovery. Blamed the customer and refused to allow us to speak to any management. She stated that the reason our calls weren't answered were because she was "busy". (The place is 500 sq ft at best and had no less than 7 people working there...I guarantee someone heard that phone ringing). During the process of the woman arguing with us the only person who had any sense of service recovery was a nice gentlemen who worked in the kitchen who offered to remake our pizza the way it was originally ordered. I truly regret not getting this man's name because he was the only person in that place who had any dreams of this place staying open or having any returning customers. I truly appreciate his help. All we wanted was a pizza the way we originally ordered it and all we got was fighting and attitude. Needless to say we will never be ordering from here again. I know they could care less but someone needs to give them some education is service recovery.

Not only is the pizza great and the garlic rolls to die for, but the online ordering system is fantastic! Have gone here for years, and it never disappoints.

Close this franchise down already and put it out of its misery. The food sucks and the service is horrible.

  • Jeniffer L.

I like their pizza but the pasta was so disappointing. The service has always been kind of odd for me it always feels like they want to tell me to leave but have no choice but to take my order and it's a bother

  • Luis R.

my review is solely on the service, i never received the food. I placed an order, nearly 1h 45m later, still hadnt arrived. I called twice and they blamed traffic although they are literally blocks away from me.I told them to cancel the order, she hung up on me. When I call back, she,of course, blamed it on the phone lines. THEIR SERVICE SUCKS!!!

  • Chris A.

I would give zero stars if that were a choice. I wish I had read the yelp review about delivery! We ordered through grub hub, which was easy. We called when it was a few minutes late and were told it was coming in 20 minutes since it was bundled with another delivery. In the next hour we called back twice, but the phone wasn't oicked up. So we drive over. As we drive it arrives and my spouse calls to say it's here, but missing an order, as well as loading extra cheese on a sandwich ordered specifically without cheese. The order was so late that the cheese was congealed enough to take off - so a silver lining! The delivery man was apologetic but had no suggestions. When I arrived at the restaurant the young woman asked if I was picking up. I replied our order was an hour late and incomplete. She didn't seem surprised that I had driven there or that it was late, found the missing salad and handed it to me without explanation or apology. I realized that asking for a manager was a waste of time and left. When I got home we got the insult to injury - the soft drink we ordered never came either. Wish I hadn't paid with PayPal and included a tip!

Let me start by saying if I had gotten a hot pizza and properly prepared garlic rolls, I might have given it a 3. This review is mainly for the service. I placed an order via telephone for pick up thinking I was doing so at the North Miami original location. In the past, I had found that one very good. I went on the website and called that location and placed an order for pickup. Imagine my surprise when I drive there and find out that it is gone, closed.... I call the number that I called when placing the order and find out that phone now goes to Aventura location. I drive all the way back there and am told that we are working on the website, a half hearted apology and a cold pizza and garlic rolls with barely little or no garlic. They should have offered to make me a new a pizza instead of giving me the one sitting on top of the oven for now about half an hour in light of their issues or at a maximum a discount. The man who I spoke to on the phone who not only took the order but was operating the register was to busy carrying on a conversation with someone else. Overall, would never order from again.

WTF. Called the number for location near Costco on US1 and when I order you cant say "this is Aventura". 40 blocks further from my home that is much closer to location on 123rd street. The food better be exceptional but you still wont ever see me order from your store unless Visiting someone at the hospital. Be respectful of your costumers. How hard could it be?

Pretty average food.. We order penne pasta in pink sauce and it was fairly average however the meatball parm sandwich was good!

Well well, what a waste of money !!!! Pizza??? Piece of shit place it's what it should be called !!! Ufffffff I was really looking forward to try ths place but what a mistake!!! A very thin and dry pizza, also a dry garlic breads !!! The fettucine was horrible too!!, pasta was all stuck together!! I'm giving one star because I can't put 0 !!! At least you can rely on the big pizza chains in knowing what you are going to get!! But this place !!!! Anyways....... Dont waste your money !!

  • Kathleen O.

This is the worst pizza I have ever had. This location has new owners and it has really gone downhill. The girl that answers the phone needs and attitude adjustment. The pizza tastes like cardboard. It was not even fully cooked. It was a soggy mess.

    (1)
  • Tara A.

Love this location as it's close to work and easy to drop in for a slice to go. They have a few tables if you'd like to sit, but this is primarily a to-go spot. At $3 for a slice and soda, how can you go wrong?

    (5)
  • Jilli C.

Mario the Baker in its original location is second to none. The pizza is thin crust, with just the right mixture of chewiness and crunchiness, and the pepperone is given in surplus. One may think the garlic oils are too greasy, but they are doused in olive oil (which is good for your health) and quite likely the best part about this legendary establishment. sadly, the hard economic crisis has not passed Mario by. Upon my dad's last visit, he was informed that their location would be changing to a smaller store front. a sign of the times, no doubt. for rustic, authentic Italian, there is no better place than this fine establishment.

I look at these other reviews and I wonder what I missed. I had a worse Pizza I just cant remember when. Today I had a meeting at my home office and I ordered 2 hot ham and cheese subs to be delivered. SOGGY bread. The bottom was falling out the ham was very salty. Just seems they dont care. Nothing like the original that used to be in North Miami. I have given them more than enough chances because I really wanted to give them a good review. 4-5 times and nothing has changed. Sometimes a place just seems to strive for a little bit above poor. That would sum up Marios

This is our favorite pizzeria in the North Miami beach area, and their garlic rolls are legenday ... soooo delicious! We are visiting from Brooklyn, NY ( which knows a thing or two about good pizza, mind you), and the truth is that these pies hold their own and even exceed many a NY pie. The staff is friendly, the seating is cafeteria-style - not opulent, but clean and just fine for munching on pizza, subs, salads and the like. It's all about the pizza - and you WILL get absolutely great pizza here.

I've been here a couple of times, and I love the spaghetti with meat sauce. The portions are huge and the price is much better than what you will find down on biscayne or on A1A. The garlic rolls are mouth watering.....a little on the greasy side, but good nonetheless. The only downer is the salad, which is basically lettuce and tomatoes only. But who comes here for salad?

  • Michelle I.

WORST PIZZA EVER! I had delivery from them twice. Both times the pizza came cold and soggy. They forgot parts of my order or ignored them completely. I love cold pizza and will gladly eat it as left overs the next day, but not when it is delivered to my house, and supposed to be right out of the oven!

2 stars for the food, 4 stars for the greasy uber-garlicky garlic rolls that people stand on LINE to get. (They'd sometimes pass some out to people waiting in g the line for tables. My kid brother LOVED this place dfor pizza, pasta and more of those greasy-little garlic rolls. We came here alot in the '80's and '90's when our grandparents were still alive and living on Bay Harbor Island. Good times.

Mario! Quanto tempo! Il mio vecchio amico: Amo tuo lasagna e pizza! Your garlic rolls are the best I've had, pippin' hot, drenched in olive oil and herbs..... MMMmmmm.... delizioso! I also like your antipasto. A little slice of Italy... now throughout the city, including one 10 minutes from my home in Kendall. Wow! How you have grown! Will be getting my cheese pizza and garlic rolls soon. Salute! Buon appetito!

This place is about as average as it gets. The pizza is very mediocre and a bit pricey. Their garlic rolls alright but often too greasy. I have also tried the chicken Parmesan and their baked ziti and in my opinion they are not worth the price you pay. The flavors are a bit bland and the chicken Parmesan was a little soggy in the crust. I must admit though I do enjoy their cold subs. I think they're worth the six or so dollars that you pay and they're pretty good. I would probably give this place a slightly better rating were it not for how over priced I find them to be. If the flavors were really robust then maybe the prices they charge would be justified but as it stands now I just don't feel they're worth it.

New to the area and definitely mid lead by previous reviews. The wings and rolls were good not the best and wings very small for being $13. Also the pizza.... Seems fake sauce, not good cheese and soft white crust, no golden brown or crunchy bite at all. Spent almost $40 on dinner and my family and I are not satisfied. Don't waste your time!!

I've even been to the original mario the baker right in the heart of the ghetto in north miami, the pizza was thinner and skimpier on pepperoni. This location is great, but only for pick up or delivery there is like a table or two to sit on and you're right in everyone's face. Antipasto is also really good, so are the garlic knots.

Mario the Baker is located in the heart of Ojus, Florida. It has excellent pizza and garlic rolls. The prices are low and the food is always great. I give Mario the Baker a 5 star excellent rating. By Gregg L. Friedman MD, Psychiatrist, Hallandale Beach, FL

Mario's is my personal favorite pizza in the area. The crust is super thin and it's cheesy with not too much sauce. Yes, it's greasy but that's what they make napkins for. Sop that sh*t up and grub away. Their garlic rolls are SUPER garlicky they get hard fast so you gotta eat it up right away. Just a warning: your breath will be kickin' for days. I've also had their canneloni and that stuff is good too. Super duper cheesy and yummy. I see that they added a kid's menu with a few simple pasta dishes. I think that's pretty good if you've got a family and everyone wants pizza except for one kid. Large cheese pizza is $8.99 (reg. price 11.99)on Mondays and you can't beat that.

If you like sausage pizza then this is the place for you. It literally taste like they grrinded the sausage, cooked it with love and chopped it into the perfect little balls. Also, it's chicken parmisian and garlic rolls are awesome. Great place to bring family.

  • Hank R.

We got two pizzas to try after a long hiatus from here. Been too long. One was a meatball & garlic and the other was sausage & garlic. While the meatball and garlic tasted very good. The sausage and garlic was delicious. A lot more flavor going on. Great job guys. Keep up the good work.

Old school NY pizza in South Florida! The best pie and garlic rolls on the east coast. It's worth a 1300 mile road trip to Aventura. We used to go to the original restaurant and are glad that this one is just as authentic. Way to go Mario!

  • Michelle G.

Mario The Baker was my favorite Italian restaurant growing up. I'm sad to say this restaurant turned chain has went down hill. The garlic knots used to be delicious and baseball size but now they are small and tasteless. Chicken parm was just ok. Too many other places in the area to come back here.

About a year ago I was trying to find a new pizza place to order from and came across Mario the Baker on Eat24. I decided to give them a try and have been ordering from them since then. Now the food may not be the best I've ever had, but it is always consistent and the drivers are always very nice when they come to the door. Since I started ordering from here I've had the Meat Lovers pizza, the Hawaiian pizza, the Godfather pizza, Meat Cannelloni, Cheese Bread, and Garlic Rolls. The only two items I wasn't a fan of so far was the Godfather pizza and the Cannelloni, but that is just personal taste I realized. The Cannelloni was not bad, I just didn't care for the sauce flavor since I thought it needed some sweetness and herbs to it. The Godfather I didn't care for only because I realized I'm not a fan of lettuce on pizza, just a texture thing for me. Delivery has always been fast I've found. The estimated delivery time for my address is 45 to 60 minutes, and almost always they've been here within 30 minutes. Only one time did it take over 45 minutes, but that was during the holidays with mad traffic in the area.

I ordered delivery for lunch from Mario's last week. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I ended up ordering lasagna. I figured an Italian place Couldnt mess up a lasagna. (This was my first time trying this place). The lasagna was not even thoroughly cooked. The noodles were stiff. And some were very soggy. The sauce also tasted very bland. I took about 3-4 bites out of it before I tossed it. I would not order from this place again :/

Not bad, not great. We ordered from these guys out of desperation last weekend. I had to work, and didn't have time to do much else like whip up dinner. I wasn't in the mood for the usual list of places we frequent, so I thought we would give these guys a shot. Our favorite local Italian place doesn't deliver, but this place does! Hubby ordered the Philly cheese steak, and I chose lasagna, the food came on time. Well, in fact, I think they were actually earlier than they said they would be here. No complaints there...the food was delivered hot. Great! Hubby bit into his cheese steak and was smiling, so I know he was happy. I bit into my lasagna, and I was not smiling. It really wasn't baked long enough in my opinion. The flavors weren't right. The pasta wasn't cooked...it just tasted like it needed another 30 minutes in the oven to finish to give the pasta time to cook and the spices time to blend. I ate it anyway because I was starving and tired. I didn't feel like popping it into the oven and waiting. They served three garlic rolls with it, and those were pretty good. Hubby also ordered some wings and fries, and those were decent. I think we will try these guys again, but I will skip the lasagna next time, and maybe get the cheese steak. That looked really good.

Still one of the best NY-style pizza restaurants around! When I order a pasta dish, I always ask for them to use the pizza sauce as it is tangier and tastier than their marinara. Today was a large pizza (the Monday special) to go.... Yummmm

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
