I love Tijuana Flats, but the one in Apopka really disappointed me. I was not given a proper greeting by the staff member. She did not smile or was friendly or engaging. The floor mat at the entrance was very dirty and needed vacuuming. There were several dirty tables on the patio and inside the restaurant. The floor was very dirty with debris and food spills. The food arrived very quickly as expected. Some of the chips were stale; however, the rest of my food was pretty decent. I had the Pick Dos which consisted of the Steak Quesadilla and Beef Chimichanga with black beans and rice. I would not visit this location again because it was clean.

LOVE this location!! Food is always perfect and the atmosphere is fun! I've never had any issues here. Gets a little busy around lunch time- but the staff is awesome. This is by far my most favorite TF location! Thank you guys!!!

I have been to Tijuana Flats several times, mostly during lunch rush. But my last recent trip felt more relaxed on a Friday night, despite a long line. Maybe it's the festive lights that adds to the atmosphere. After waiting about 10 minutes in line, once up to order, had no trouble finding what I wanted, but thought I would add a dessert this time, and the girl helping me could tell I had trouble making my decision on my "chocolate chip dough" dessert thingy. She highly recommended it, that put me at ease and offered to bring it out a little later which was nice. When our food was ready a different server called out my name a few times in the adjacent room. It was noisy and he couldn't hear me and didn't seem to realize I could possibly be in the other room (or even outside) and he looked confused. That was only hiccup, but food was great as always, and my dessert was worth it and had enough left for a late night snack. I love the convenience of this location without having to go across town, and I will surely come back again!

Tijuana's is the best and I frequent 3 different ones around town. Altamonte Springs on Tuesday nights and Hunt Club or Longwood (Publix Shopping Center at Wekiva Springs Rd and Hwy 434). You can't go wrong with any of them. Taco Tuesday is a great deal! Don't forget to get the "chips & queso!"

Wow! TJ, Sydney and Allyssa provide outstanding service and the food was the best! The steak tacos were great and the blackened mahi fish tacos were even better and such a value! I will definitely be making a return visit!

The best Mexican food in Orland. Mega sized burritos. Good salads. Some vegan selections.

I love to go here for lunch! Fast and friendly and so affordable! It does get very busy around the usual 12-1pm lunch times so to avoid the crowds try for before or after or, another great and fast way is order it to-go and you can walk right up to your food all ready for you and still grab a seat ;)

This isn't my "home" TF, but it's still Tijuana Flats! One thing I like about franchise-type venues is that you pretty much know what to expect ... same menu, same recipe, same specials. Personally I like that! This is a cute venue, but very "compact" to say the least. Lunch can be kind of insane due to the volume of patrons and lack of space, but other than that ... No complaints! Well maybe one, but it's across the board at all the TFs I have been to - TF use to serve a pretty good Sangria but the one they serve now is crappy and while they do serve Mike's Hard Lemonades, the price is ridiculous. Not being a beer drinker (which by the way my hubby swears is the coldest in town and cheap too) I'll stick with the tea. Bummer though; Sangria and Mexican food is the perfect match! I love the atmosphere, music, funky murals and ceiling tiles, as well as the HotBar and seasoned chips with queso. Yum! The guac is nothing to write home about, but the sauces are the bomb! Lastly ... My kids love TF and the kids menu items. And don't leave without trying either some Churros or Cookie Dough Flautas for dessert (I wish they served milk!), you'll love the sugar high that follows! So good ...

First, I am not sure why at least 3 of the reviews I've read so far randomly mention that it's a bad idea to visit, or live in, Florida. What! :/ You can say that about a lot of states, but really... advising against Florida? Pfft. For such picky pickles, I guess it says a lot that TF has made their list of approved spots. It is indeed a fun and interesting place, and it could definitely impress an out of towner. (Your guest will be looking at the paintings, walls, and stickers for a long time.) I've been to TF a handful of times in the past few years. Honestly the sauce is what brings me back. There's really nothing like it, and it's fun how they rotate some of the brands. I am condiment crazy and they really give me a fix with that sauce bar. If the sauce bar didn't exist, I wouldn't go back. There is too much real Mexican food to be had elsewhere. Sorry. I always get the deep fried chicken flautas (with sour cream, guac, olives, plus more), they truly are my favorite thing there. I find the other dishes to be a little boring (for example, if I am going to eat tacos, I'd rather have very fresh and natural ones from Chipotle). For me, TF is an occasional guilty pleasure, a flauta-licious fried food stop, with a dash of 10 different hot sauces. Add always friendly service and fun decor, and it's a solid place to grab a bite. But this is no place for your anniversary of course.

It was 10 minutes until closing but Annie didn't treat us that way at all! She was the sweetest and most helpful person! Keep her and give her a raise. Did I mention the food was delicious! Tacos were big and so was the chips and queso appetizer. Loved the variety of hot sauce they had. If we lived in Orlando we would be here at least once a week. Bring one to Texas!

Nice Tijuana Flats location. I have to say, they are slowly winning me over from Chipotle, particularly in the Apopka area. The food has been good every time I've stopped here, and the friendly customer service at Tijuana Flats is a differentiator between the two chains.

Probably one of the Grade-A Mexican chains in the Central Florida area, Tijuana Flats is consistently a good choice for you taco and burrito lovers. This location is nestled away in the back corner of a shopping complex off the corner of SR 436 and Hunt Club Road but is still pretty easy to find. The bright and fun decor on the inside is a sight to behold and be sure to look at all the signed celebrity photos plastered on the wall on the way to make your order. Just little details like this add to the lighthearted ambiance that is Tijuana Flats. Be sure to stop in for their Taco Tuesdaze special: two tacos, chips, and a drink for $4.99. The portion size for this is just about perfect for lunch time. You really can't go wrong with much here. I would recommend the Bangin' Chicken Burrito, which has breaded chunks of spicy chicken in it, or the Steak and Cheesy Burrito, which is more or less a cheesesteak sandwich wrapped in a tortilla. Perfect place to enjoy these are outside on the patio on a cool day with a beer in hand (they have a good variety of Mexican beer choices).

never even heard of this place because we are from ft lauderdale. found it on yelp while visiting the area for a few days. 6 adults & 8 kids went there for dinner and WOW!!! were we impressed. 1st....the staff was soooooooo nice. Autumn is the only name i remember (cause she made me feel old when she called me sir ;-) oh....and for the reviewer who says he ordered 10 times to go...and they are incapable of getting it right...i find that difficult to believe because they were perfectly accurate on both of our group orders...& if it's so bad....why do you keep ordering it? they were so incredibly nice & accommodating to our big group w/ a baby seat. then the food started coming out incredibly quick and looked like works of art...SO fresh and it really did taste as good as it appeared. absolutely delicious. we all ordered different things & tasted each other's food...and it was all fantastic. the multiple hot sauces were icing on the cake we liked it so much we brought another couple on our final day there for lunch. didnt get our waitresses name but she was awesome too and so was the manager. we didnt hold it against him that he's a fsu guy....he still did a great job ;-) apparently there is one opening in pembroke pines....kinda near us...but worth the drive i've been to chipotle grille, moe's....and this place kicks their collective butt....hands down if they only had a liquor license....because a fat margarita was the only thing missing

This is the only food in FL that I actually miss. There are, of course, shit-tons of mexican food options in the mission right by my house. And yes, I do so love to go down on a chirizo super burrito from taqueria cancun when my mexican jones hits (which is frequently). But my palette still pines for tex mex from time to time, and Tijauana Flats is the best tex mex there is. I ate here every friday for 8 years. When I first found it, there were days where I ate lunch AND dinner here in the same day. The chicken chimichanga is the nectar of the gods. Everything on the menu is OMFG good. I don't recommend that you go to FL. In fact I urge you not to. But if, for some reason, you get dragged there....do yourself a solid and find a local Tijuana Flats. The one I'm reviewing is the best one, but they are all pretty damned similar.

This is a great place to chill out, have a beer, eat a taco and burn your taste buds until your heart's content. Wild and wacky decor - kind of like a bad acid trip infused with hot sauce atmosphere. There is usually some good music playing on the sound system with a laid back vibe. The staff is super nice and the food is very tasty. While I was there, a staffer was walking around asking patrons how their food was and I overheard one customer say that her meal was not that good. Staffer apologized and the manager was at the table post haste. Turns out a new food ingredient was being used for one of the entrees and it was affecting the usual taste. The manager comped their meal offered up another entree for free and apologized for the experience. Then he thanked the patrons for being honest so that the appropriate actions could be taken to correct the menu item. To see service like that this day and age really impressed me. I had the two beef tacos crunchy, all the way with chips and salsa and it was freaking delicious. Each taco was about 6-7 inches long and they both tasted fresh and authentic. The other great feature of TFs is their salsa bar. Whether you want to make your tongue go running for cover and cry to mommy or let it romp through a golden meadow and sweetly reminisce of days past, it's up to you.

while California has way better Mexican food than Florida (not even comparable really), Tijuana Flats holds such a special place in my heart and stomach. Everything tastes great, the patio is the best place to chill out and have a negro modelo, the hot sauce bar is an experience, and the decor is so badass. i remember the time when I tried the endorphin rush hot sauce and found that special psychedelic place that comes when you transcend the pain! I agree with the first reviewer- I would also advise against visiting Orlando- but I sure am glad Tijuana Flats was there when I lived there.

Great fresh food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. What more could you want? Oh yeah, a hot sauce bar! The place gets crowded on Tuesday for the Taco Tuesday special (two tacos, chips and a drink for $5). If you don't visit on a Tuesday, be sure to try the blackened chicken enchiladas. And have fun exploring the hot sauce bar.

There are very few things I miss about living in Orlando. My close friends is a given. The house I owned and loved for seven years is slowly being replaced in my heart by the new house I own and love. Dining options for the most part fall way down on the list. Tijuana Flats is one stellar exception. It was a favorite of mine when I lived there, and I try to eat at one each time I go back. The food is simply wonderful. The best thing is the consistency from one restaurant to the next. I can honestly say I've never eaten in a Tijuana Flats I didn't like. Their signature Hot Bar has a sauce for every taste. They've got some that will knock your socks off and leave your taste buds burning for a week! But others are milder and have great flavor, which really enhances the already terrific food. This chain has been rapidly expanding throughout Florida, and has a few locations in select other states as well. (In fact, I see they are opening soon in Cary, NC, which is about a half hour from my parent's house - JOY!) I can only hope one day a franchise will find its way up to Cincinnati. I think the concept would do well here. Until then, I will continue to get my fix each time I visit my old home state.

I chose to review this location because this is the one that set me on a long and terrible addiction to this amazing Mexican inspired food. I will never forget the first time I was invited to the Flats of Tijuana for an adventure my taste buds will never forget. It all started with a beef chimichanga with extra jalapenos and my first unforgettable trip to the sauce bar. "Warning keep children away," is the type of sign that will get your attention when facing a sauce bar. If that doesn't get your attention then the names like "Smack My Ass and Call me Sally," and "Lizard Spit" sure will. Of course I was told by the friend who brought me that upon first visit I had to try the Endorphin Rush hot sauce. This would be the one to the far right of a bar that goes from sweetest on the left to hottest on the right. She neglected to inform me that you should only use a little as I drowned the nacho in it. Keep in mind this is a tradition I have carried on with my Friends since. I've even watched some of them throw up....wimps. Oh quick note, if you do try the hotter sauces do not touch your eyes for about a week. Soap and water just don't cut it. I cried a little. Over the years I have tried most of the products they offer and have yet to be disappointed. I prefer the Chimichangas (or Chimi's in TF terms) the Burritos, Tacos, Ultimate Nacho, and the new cheesy tacos. You can't go wrong. Now even though I love spicy food since Cheyenne eggs were a household favorite growing up, this does not mean everything is spicy. If you are a milder type of person then simply ask them to hold the jalapenos, and stick to the left of the sauce bar. Try the smack my sweet ass and call me Sally sauce. The atmosphere is great. The walls are decked with pictures that look as if a tattoo artist wrote a comic book, blew up the picture and stuck it too a wall. They sell different types of beer and margaritas, and most locations offer some nice outdoor seating. The staff is young and energetic, and the service is fast. You can even buy the sauces in bottles to take home and hide in your lady's food (muah hah hah.) I recommend the death pack. I have only two negatives to list. One is the inconsistency of their sweet tea. It can be either good or bad. The other was my billing statements for 2009. In order of where I spent the most money it went 1. Rent 2. Gas 3. Tijuana Flats It's like crack. I just can't get enough. Woo Hoo for Taco Tuesdays.

Seriously, I have ordered from this place at least 10 times in the last year, 9 of them "To-Go". They are incapable, INCAPABLE, of getting an order right. Most of the time, not even close to being right. Do yourself a favor and run down the street to Taco Bell. It might be fast food, but they won't screw it up like Tijuana Pot Luck. Or at least go to a different one. This location blows.

My wife and I ate here several weeks ago and they had a burrito on the specials menu that was out of this world. I think it was called a "Bang Burrito" It had hot boneless wings in it mixed with all the fixings. If you like spicy wings you'll love this.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
