Well, good news and bad news. Their food is good, but they suffer from a serious lack of good customer service. Our first experience with them was stellar: two delicious pizzas delivered quickly and, boy, were they HOT! We were excited to order from them again, but... now the BAD news: we called at 7:13pm on a Sunday night, after noting their 8pm closing time, to order a couple of large pizzas to be delivered before the Packers game. Doug (not sure on the name - he was way too busy to be completely intelligible) answered the phone and, when I said I was calling for a delivery order, he curtly and rudely stated: "We stopped delivering". I thought, "Wow, just when we find a great place, they stop delivering!". However, Doug then asked, "Where are you?", and when I told him, he explained that they were closing in 45 minutes so there was no more delivery for the night. Seems like that might be a bit of information you'd put in your menu? We definitely would have called earlier if we'd known there was a cut-off for delivery. Now, I can understand that, but I can't tolerate the rudeness with which Doug delivered the bad news. Great pizza isn't a rare-enough commodity to allow for rudeness. Good luck, Pastavino!!!

I adore this place! My parents and I have been coming here for so long I can't even count the delicious I calories I've had here. Their pizza is top notch, the salads are a delight, the wings are great, and those desserts in the case..... Don't even get my Dad started on those. Family owned and run- it doesn't get much better than Pastavinos!

Best calzones around - good chicken wings too. We always get the small deluxe calzone and it will most definitely feed two plus we took a couple of slices home and ate again that night and just added salad. The crust is nice and flaky and crisp....and the the filling is fresh. Couldn't be better. This "mom and pop" place is not easy to see from street but it is located next to a gas station at the end of Rock Springs across from where everyone goes tubing. This little restaurant is what Apopka should be....small-although plenty of room for parties, unassuming and very, very good. Not fancy...just down-home.

This warm and cozy restaurant exceeded the expectations of this pizza connoisseur. With a welcoming, friendly, engaging staff, and exceptionally tasty pizza, Pastvinos is a fantastic local dining destination, or post-park stop for the family.

Pizza are pretty good, crust are little soggy, and they tend to put all the toppings in the middle of pizza. Which is why the crust are soggy.

Good food. The pizza and salads are nice. Also lasagna is delicious. Stay away from the desserts. They look great but are not good. I Always get caught by the looks. The place is a 'go to' spot for the pasta but not desserts and pastries.

Like any restaurant I like to go a few times before providing a review because you never know if you just happened to go at a very bad time the first time. I've always gone with friends and we all like to order different things to try. Bad things? The female owner is very sweet and social but it becomes a bad thing when you notice more than one table in need of water and food because she's chatting with her regulars...Best advice I can give is don't go there if you're starving and want something affordable! Not only does the food take a long time but she takes her time too and for the portion size they give you it's little pricey. Every time we've ordered a chicken dish the chicken is dry and hard and the pasta like other people mentioned lacks flavor. Keep in mind this is during dinner hours so you would think it's cooked to order. A few things we liked were the house made bread , the salad dressing and the elephant ears. The ghost cake is a good idea but the chocolate cake is very dry.. I tried making it at home and it came out amazing because the chocolate cake wasn't old. The pies are nothing special and they let them sit there way too long... To give you an idea... The coconut cream pie usually has a light cream color.. Ours was light brown to medium (TWICE!) it looked gross ... We came to the conclusion that it's a place that has some potential but they have a lot of work to do. Wish they took the time to read their reviews but like others have mentioned the male owner is very rude and seems very cocky. Time will tell how long this place will last.

Awesome food and some really swell people! I'm going to have to assume everything on the menu is great, because I got hung up on the pizzas and Stromboli and haven't been able to move on.

Food is wonderful in person. However, the folks answering the phones for togo orders are lacking in their customer service skills. This is based on my phone experience on 5.27.14. My advice is to dine in and hopefully you get the wife of the owner which is a lovely lady indeed :)

Not sure where all the high stars are coming from. The cashier was stunning and adorable, and the good stopped there. I ordered lasagna with meatballs, and a slice of ghost cake for take out. The first bad thing I noticed when unpacking is that it didn't come with napkins or utensils. If I had been going to eat at a park, I would have only been able to eat the bread. Thankfully, I only live two miles away. The portions were a little less than average, especially for a $12 lasagna with two meat balls. Overall, the food was ok at best. For three dollars I could have bought a frozen lasagna and been just as satisfied. The salad was a small portion of bagged salad with one slice of tomato on top. It takes two seconds to make a great salad, why use bagged. The bread was a great size, nice and fluffy, but lacked salt. The seasoned butter was very bland. The lasagna was roughly an average portion, but they put extra sauce and cheese on top, in a huge container to make it look larger. The lasagna was extremely bland, no seasoning, and just cheese with pasta. It's like they never tried. The red sauce was salt and tomatoes. Very weak on flavor. The meatballs were moist, and pretty good sized. Could have used more flavor, but fine. Besides the cashier, the only other good thing was the ghost cake. It is thick, tasty, and decadent. It's like eating brownies, cheesecake, and frosted cake all at once. It took me three separate times to finish it. Well worth the $6. All in all, don't waste your time or money unless you just want a good slice of cake.

Our new favorite restaurant! We need to get the word out for Pastavinos which is tucked off the corner of Rock Springs Road because it is a treasure. It isn't fancy but it doesn't need to be with the incredible homemade food and wonderful people. It reminds me of my Papa and my family's pizza restaurant up north. From the friendly owners and staff to the food, we are so glad to have finally tried it. The mushroom appetizer batter was perfectly flavored. You can taste the freshness of the delicious, thick, pasta sauce on the spaghetti and meatballs. Hands down the best pizza around. To top everything off, the handmade desserts were wonderful with a hot cup of freshly ground coffee. We can't wait to go again!

Pastavinos is GREAT Italian. The portions are huge and the food is fantastic. The bread is amazing as well. They even do terrific subs and awesome hamburgers.

This family owned and operated restaurant is a hidden gem in Apopka. Don and Jess will treat you (and feed you) like family. You might not expect to find one of the best corned beef or pastrami sandwiches on home made rye bread in Apopka - but you would be wrong. Because the food here is the real deal. Don who at one time was the baker at Ronnie's deli in Orlando, and who also had a popular bakery in Eustis, is a master. His bread, his pizza dough and everything in the bakery case is magical. He has been in the restaurant business since he was in his teens and his expertise shows in the quality of his food. It's just good stuff! They serve up great food, at a great price in a no fuss, friendly, family atmosphere.

Went here for the first time the other night, and loved it! From the service to the food, it couldn't have been better. There were 4 of us; we ordered a cheese calzone, salad, eggplant parm and a sausage & pasta dish. Everyone loved their dinner and the prices were pretty inexpensive too. We did get cheese sticks and calamari for appetizers, they were good but probably not something we'd get again. We all got dessert too; 2 ghost cakes, chocolate pie and an elephant ear. Definitely save room for the dessert. The woman that served us was one of the owners (I think), she was wonderful.

Wow! This place was AMAZING! We stopped by after a day at Rock Springs...with three kids, still in our swim suits, hungry and tired. We had the most incredible pizza, a huge salad, awesome cheesy garlic bread and the BEST homemade desserts ever! The owners make everything from scratch, and they went out of their way to ensure our satisfaction. We will be back, as this was quite possibly the best local Italian restaurant we've found!

I've lived near this place for four years now. I don't order from them much because the few times that I have, the food has been mediocre to poor. I'm amazed at the positive reviews that it's gotten so far. Makes me wonder if I'm ordering the wrong things or if I'm just cursed with bad luck?! Anyhoo, I tried their food again last night in the hopes that I would like it (this time), but it was so bad I couldn't eat it. I really, really wish their food was better because it is so close to where I live. Bummer.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
