Was considering another restaurant but came here. So glad we did. Food just like my grandmothers! Even the salad dressing. Big portions. The pesto gnocchi was to die for and the seafood pescatore had so much seafood that I stopped eating the pasta to try and eat the seafood. We are so coming back and I would say don't be put off by the negative reviews!

Don't trust the map. They have three locations. One is at Trolley Sq. We found the one on Kirkland Hwy, about 8 miles away from the mapped location. Real Neapolitan cooking. I had a puttanesca sauce on fettuccine, and my spouse had angel hair with garlic and olive oil. We had no room for their tiramisu.

Cafe Napoli came highly recommended from locals when we moved to Wilmington so we had high hopes. We ordered some pasta dishes for our first take out order and we were shocked at the portion size but disappointed that we did not enjoy as much as we'd hoped. We tried again with their pizzas and had a much better experience. Go for the pizza!

Love this place. Family owned and run. Portions are huge - had enough left over for another meal. Chicken Ala Cafe Napoli, Seafood Risotto, Crab Bisque, Clams Vesuvio are my favorites. Chocolate Cake for dessert tipped the scales for me - yummy yummy yummy! Service is excellent.

Just dined here for the first time and I'm dishing out four stars purely because my meal was wonderful! I wasn't really blown away by the decor walking in though Italian joints always get a pass from me as long as they're clean and the food is good and they certainly achieved both these criteria. I was impressed to see some rarely offered home style Italian dishes on menu like Braciole which is offered as a dinner special. After a long painful deliberation I decided to size up my hosts by trying the classic lasagna. My friend chose the seafood lasagna made with an "Aurora" sauce. We ate family style sharing our variations of this classic baked pasta masterpiece along with some of the best garlic bread I've had out maybe ever! I tell you this food was made with love! Hearty portions of the lasagna resting in a setting of truly delicious marinara with that perfect consistency that confirms they added some of the starchy pasta cooking water back to the sauce when they plated the dish. That wonderful after taste is burned into my taste memory. I will continue to tour the menu here and ensure all future experiences are applied to this rating so make sure to swing back around and check-in again!

Took my grandson there recently. He is three. The server said, "can I bring him some dough to play with"? What a lifesaver! Waiting with a three year old is tough, especially when they have nothing to do. On top of that food was excellent.

Best pizza in Northern Delaware! Great food friendly, attentive staff and did I mention delicious food? My family loves the pesto gnocchi!

Great family red gravy Italian restaurant. Big portions, taste good and a very fair price. Nice basket of bread with each table. We've been more that 20 times and always leave happy.

This restaurant is in a strip mall on Kirkwood Highway westbound. The parking lot can get very busy at times but so far, I haven't had a problem finding a parking space somewhere in the lot. Thus far, I've only been here for geocaching events. When there is a large group of orders, it can take a long time for them to prepare the food. However, this way, I'm assured that it's not all microwaved like they do at some restaurants. Service is okay. Food portions are larger than I expected. Even if the taste is only about average, I think there's value here.

All diners will find something on the menu that calls to 'em, and it will provide enough leftovers for two or three more meals. Try any of the seafood dishes with pesto sauce subbed. For dessert, the sorbets are divine and creatively plated -- I won't give it away; just get one. The back room is lovely. No booths back there though. My quibbles: you don't get a side salad with your meal, and the bread is mediocre.

This place is a personal favorite for my family and I. We enjoy a wide variety of Italian dishes and their menu provides us with the appropriate amount of choices. Due to the distance from our house, it is definitely a "treat" every now and then. The prices are amazing especially for the portions. There is no doubt that any member of your party will leave hungry. The quantity of good they serve does not have any effect on the quality (many restaurants don't have a good balance of quantity and quality but this place goes above and beyond that). I even had a lady from Italy tell me that their food is the closest to the real stuff she was served back home. If that doesn't tell you anything about their authenticity, then I don't know what would.

The only negative is the location in a strip shopping center. So the place looks cheap and small on the outside. But the food and service is excellent and inside is spacious and well decorated with cool hand painted walls and brick accents. The pizza is excellent and gnocchis were light and fluffy. You know you are in a good Italian place when the staff speaks Italian. They serve free bread and give free soda refills. It is a very family friendly place. I try to go early or late because there is usually a wait for a table especially on Friday and Saturday. But after you get seated, they always have plenty of servers who are very attentive. Now that I think of it... if I could give them 4.5 stars for being closed on Sunday I would. They should be open 7 days a week.

Phenomenal Italian Restaurant. Been coming here for over 10 years. Hands down they make the best Marinara Sauce in the world. Anytime I am in Delaware - this is a destination with the family.

I've visted this restaurant a few times on recommendations from friends. The food is pretty good, but the pizza is sub-par to a place like Ciaos. The atmosphere is nice if you sit in the dining area and the service is average. I wasn't all that impressed but it was an ok place to go. The prices are a little high for what you are getting.

We really enjoyed our lunch. Paul our waiter was a rock star. The ingredients were fresh, the portion sizes were large the music was great and the food was excellent we will definitely be back here

Let me start by saying that I only gave it 4 stars at this time, because it is the first and only time I have eaten here, BUT that will change. :) We were at this restaurant for a bridal shower. First time we have been here or for that matter the first time we ever heard of the place. The service was very good... the serving sizes were something like you have never seen before.... I know that Jillian from The Biggest Loser, would never approve... but what the heck!!! You can get 2-3 meals for the price of one. I have read comments about lack of flavor, BUT I don't have anything but the best to say about the flavor of my dish. I had the Manicotti and it had some of the greatest tasting marinara sauce I have tasted lately. We are definitely going back... we have finally found another place to partake.... Only negative about this place is that I have to drive about an hour to get to it.... however, it will be well worth the drive....

The food here is delicious, definitely good Italian food, and good Italian portions as well! The service is decent as well, haven't had any experiences that really stand out as far as really really good or really really bad service. I've been here plenty of times for a nice, easy, filling meal either with friends or family. The atmosphere is nice and casual. They do take out as well, which is something I love to take advantage of because you definitely have a few days worth of meals when you do that, and you can call ahead as well and just stop in and pick it up. The only complaint that I really have about this place is the entrance. They recently remodeled and expanded their dining area to be much larger than before, which is very nice. I just don't understand that when they did that, why they didn't remodel the entrance way. When you walk in you see the hostess standing right there at the counter, you have hardly any room to wait for tables, if necessary, and it's the same place where they have the pizza counter and take out "station", so all of the people who are waiting for take out are standing there as well in that small space and it can get crowded at times. It's unfortunate that sometimes this is the first impression you get from this restaurant, which really is a good place. If they can find a way maybe to reorganize this part and make it just a take out only spot, and then have the restaurant entrance at a different door, I think that would make the experience much better. And also to have a bigger place to wait when people have to. Otherwise, great food, nice people, and you definitely get leftovers, which is a bonus! I'd definitely recommend this place to friends.

I wanted to like this place, but the food was simply awful. Both my husband and I had upset stomachs after dinner. We both had some variation of a lasangna. Everything is covered in thick layers of cheese with very little flavor otherwise. I thought I ordered from the kids menu for our kids, but they were served full sized meals at $12 per plate! You cannot mistake my kids for adults. The only reason I give 2 stars is that they did adjust the bill for the kids' plates after I complained. As an Italian, I am not impressed at all with this place.

This is probably the best value to quality Italian place I have ever found. The food and service is always consistent and excellent. I eat there about once a week and I have not been disappointed. There are multiple options for pizza slices which are consistent. The hot sandwiches are always good. The size of the meals are massive for lunch, but great value and quality.

Very good grilled chicken wrap. Stopped in today and was really surprised with the amount of chicken and mozzarella. The pizza looked great too and the place was busy. I'll definitely be back.

Nice place in a very busy shopping center. Restaurant is fairly small. Expect to bring home enough for a couple extra meals per entree. The food is pretty good - not really that creative or trendy, but more traditional pasta dishes, pizzas and sandwiches. I have been pleased with the food and the service each of the times I have eaten here.

1000% my favorite hidden Italian restaurant in de. The portions are humungo and the prices won't leave you running to the ATM for some extra $. Food is delicious, seating is always available immediately and it's a great spot for a group dinner.

Great place to eat!! Don't let the exterior fool you because it looks very small from the outside since it is in a strip mall! You can grab a slice or walk back into the restaurant and have a HUGE Italian meal. You will be bringing home a dogie bag since the portion size are immense! The lasagna is so full of cheese you might need to reset your pacemaker. The service and prices are both great. Overall, this place is a hidden treasure!!!!

Love this place! A year ago I would given it 5 stars but I feel like the sauce on my beloved tortellini aurora has changed in the past year. The pizza is the best around in my opinion; not run of the mill but not gourmet...the perfect combination to me. The place looks like nothing from the outside but it is fun on the inside. The service is always fast and friendly and the portions of most items are huge. I highly recommend a stop at Cafe Napoli.

Decent place to eat. They need to learn how to season their food a little better, but the portions are big and the quality is good. Definitely a repeat customer.

I visit my family once or twice a year and this is the one restaurant in the entire state that I absolutely have to go to while I'm in Delaware. No excuses. A trip to visit my family isn't complete with out a night at Cafe Napoli. The business has expanded over the years. First it was a small shop off Kirkwood Highway. Then they expanded the back room. Then they opened up a restaurant down on Main Street in Newark with a slightly different name. The original spot is still my favorite and I'm glad to say the food tastes just as good today as it did back in the late 90s when we discovered it. I know I've had Italian food that's been better than Cafe Napoli, but this is my all-time sentimental favorite. The lasagna is my meal of choice and they put so much cheese on it that I'm sure my arteries began clogging at 17. The people who work there are friendly (but not overly friendly that it seems inauthentic). The service is good and the wait staff tends to remember repeat customers. There will be a wait almost any day of the week, but believe me, it's worth it. Go peruse the sale rack at Kohl's or buy some hair product at that random store next door. Then when your name is called, sit down in a booth up front (or table in the back), enjoy the free bread and be glad you have patience. I promise it will be worth it.

Great old fashioned Italian dinners. Friendly staff and delicious generous portions . The chicken Parmesan is my go to dinner, but my sister loves their seafood dishes with blush cream sauce. And it's very reasonably priced as well!! This place also has a space for parties and events. I often see baby/wedding showers here. It's not fancy, so maybe not for a first date, but definitely a place to go when you and your friend are hungry!!

The parking lot does get crowded and the entrance is awkward but this place is a must try. The menu is large and you will find a favorite here if you give it a chance. The linguini with clam, vodka and Alfredo sauce, and the chicken parmigiana are a must try. Each meal is brought out when it is done. Baked dishes come with a lot of cheese. The staff is very friendly and service is good.

This place has jacked the prices up like a rocket shooting to the sky. I ordered a dish that was supposed to have Chicken, sauce, cheese and some shrimp and I only got 1 piece of shrimp and everything else was literally a puddle of red tomato sauce and cheese. And due to the jacked prices it sucked. Also had another similar situation again. Definitely not going back there scamming me here. Definitely wouldn't recommend due to the mediocre food and Crazy prices. And someone update the money signs to 3 not 2

Great italian-american food. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. The food is very good and you get a large portion. It is not the most authentic, but all of the flavors are there. It is also very affordable. Do not come here expecting fine dining. It is more like your italian grandmother's kitchen, with larger portions.

Solid meal, no food complaints. Went on a Saturday night and the place wasn't crowded. I felt as if the prices were a tad high for what you received

Overall, this place was not too terribly bad; however, I am giving it a 2 star because of the lack of flavor that I experienced in my food. In addition, do note that the portions are ridiculous in size. My order was Lasagna. There was so much cheese on it I could hardly finish it (note: avid cheese lover here). The wait staff was friendly and attentive.

Pretty great pizza. It's not Gerardos, but nobody has matched Gerardos in the state. The eggplant pizza and the shrimp pizza are outstanding. I've only had the pasta one time and can't give it as much of a glowing review - it was decent, nothing memorable. But the pizza beats a lot of the local competition. And the interior is very quaint. The staff always seems pretty welcoming, too. A lot of young kids behind the counter, but they're not the aloof or disinterested kind of young staff that you often see at restaurants.

Though the portions are ginormous, you definitely get the bang for your buck! and the bread before the meal is wonderful!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
