We have ordered from Great Wall several times and the food has always been good if not great. Tonight the food was bland. I ordered my Szechuan chicken spicy, there were NO peppers in it and it was not spicy in the slightest. Frankly it tasted like the same sauce used to make sesame chicken. My wife ordered moo shu vegetables, they came with flour tortillas not rice pancakes. The vegetables were drowning in a sugary sauce. It was honestly disgusting, and made both of us nauseous. I will never order from this store again.

I order from this place all the time but I just had a bad experience. I ordered 3 combo meals and a soup. When the order arrived the 3 combos were here but the soup wasn't. I called to ask about it and instead of helping me the guy who answered the phone told me he "wasn't going to send a driver all the way out here" (I live in Newark) because they "didn't have any orders any time soon." He wasn't going to give me money or my soup but charged me. When I questioned this he said he "might be able to give my account credit." They screwed up and didn't want to do anything about it. I might be finding a new Chinese place.

I have been going to this Chinese restaurant weekly for several years, and I even drive out of my way to do so. I love their shrimp with garlic sauce. However, last Friday I found what appeared to be pubic hairs in my food. I literally gagged and threw it out. I will never, ever return again, absolutely disgusting.

Yeah this wasn't good. At all. Two orders of shrimp lo mein for 16 dollars, I expect crunchy vegetables , flavorful noodles, and more shrimp than what we got. Instead, I think this might actually have been previously made. The sauce was the most bland I've ever experianced .. Not a hint of ginger or even soy sauce. Soft , weak veggies. Just all around disappointing.

I really like the food here. When we moved to Delaware 10 years ago this was the closest to our home and have been going here ever since. I usually get the same thing everytime. Fried dumplings. Delicious. Very nice dipping sauce for them too. It is well balanced and not to salty or vinegary like some places. I also get the chicken lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. They give you a TON of sweet and sour sauce with the order (which I love because I can use the left overs for homemade recipes later on.) And just thinking about the lo mein is making me salivate...seriously. I CRAVE IT. Their portions are a good size and always provide me with multiple meals. They are always very accurate and very consistent with their quality. I will always choose this chinese restaurant as long as I am a resident of Newark. I think some of the bad reviews for this place are unnecessarily harsh and a bit over dramatized. "Omg! There was a hair in my food! 1 star! It's the end of the world. Waahhhh" I work in a restaurant. Humans prepare food. Humans have hair. Humans shed hair. It's gonna get in the food once in a while no matter how hard u try. Be an adult and ask for a new order like a normal person. This place definitely deserves a rating better than it has which u can tell because many of the 1 star reviews start with something like "I come here all the time and food is usually great!" But of couse the one off day u decide to take it to yelp with a 1 star review.

I live really close to Great Wall, and when my husband and I don't feel like making dinner, and want a quick fix for Chinese food, we tend to make a call to the closest Chinese take out place, because honestly how bad could they mess up? Ok, maybe they didn't mess up our orders and in fact some of them even turned out better than expected, but twice already I tried to order food items off their menu and was told they don't make it. I was baffled. Why did you create a menu with things you don't serve??

Food was ok but hardly got anything for the price we paid for it. About 20 minutes after I finish eating I get a call from a lady screeching at me for not picking up my food... But it was paid for and picked up! After I tried to tell her we already got the food she screeched more then hung up on me. Definitely won't be going back.

Never had a problem with these guys, shame they're no longer open on Mondays. Delivery is always fast and friendly, and they've never messed up my order. Definitely one of my favorite Chinese delivery places in Newark, DE.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
