I've been he the Maryland Ave location in Wilmington which was a little out of my way so this location is more convenient. Thanks to the other reviewers for the location helps. It's located between the Red Lobster and the AAA store. As for the food, well I had to have the dogs all the way. Good as usual with the sauce that has a nice spicy bite. I was tempted to get the fresh cut fries but I wanted to get 2 dogs so next time. Inside has tables which they bring you your order. Kinda like Chick-fil-A does. We need more of these kind of eateries.

Great hotdogs but RUDE staff! I didn't know the menu and the counter girl gave me an attitude. She didn't ask me for here or togo, so she put for here and they came out and I said they were togo, she puts them in a box and just handed it to me with no bag, no napkins etc. Had an attitude the whole time!

Hot Dogs are good.. chili is spicy. The Chicken Tenders and Fries and Honey Mustard are great too!

I've been eating these from the original location in Wilmington since I was a kid. I always get 2 Singles with everything. The sauce is like none other. I've never had anything else from the menu except fries which I use to scoop up the sauce from my plate.

Hot dogs and sauce are great. Would have given four stars but the service is aweful. They need to hire people that actually care.

Good hot dogs and fries. It doesn't look like they've dusted the dining room since they've opened.

Great digs with a special sauce tat makes them unique, yummy burgers that are also super cheap, and a gorgeous waitress staff. Amazing fries with old bay too.

I read all the reviews and decided I had to try the cheesesteak...which turned out to be quite good with a spicy little sauce that I want the recipe for! It seemed a little pricey - especially the onion rings, but overall it was worthy and next time I'm in the Newark area it will be a consideration. Oh, and I want the recipe for the dip that came with the onion rings too

You never realize how much you miss something until you haven't had it for a while. This is definitely the case when it comes to Deerhead. After 4 months in California, the first thing I wanted when I came back to Delaware was a Deerhead hot dog. I've been back twice now since my return, and it does not disappoint. The food was still as good as I remember it being back when I was in my teens and they only had one or two locations.

Both my husband and I ordered lunch, they brought out 1 plate, by time my husband was about done, he came past us with someone else's order so I asked where was mine. It never went in to the cook, do I want it for take out? NO. Got money back and a sorry. His fries were limp, and hot dog was ok. Luckily I had a power bar with me. We wont be back.

I have been to deerhead quite a few times and love it! Their food is great and I think that most people that I know would love this place. The help is great, along with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Overall I think that this is a great place to eat. Just watch out if your taking 4 or more people, it can get pricey.

If you want a decent cheesesteak and don't feel like driving all the way up to Philly, Deerhead does a pretty decent whiz wit. Look for the Firebirds and Potstickers to find this place as it's tucked in a corner - once you do find it grab a cheesesteak, a rootbeer, and some cheese fries and relax.

I've heard the cheesesteaks are very good but I can't stop myself from ordering the hot dogs every time I go. Great place for a quick lunch or snack and by far the best of this expanding franchise

Our visit took place on Sunday, June 28, 2009, during lunchtime. This location is not super easy to find, but I did see the sign in the plaza it's in, and we found it neatly tucked away in a corner, next to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. That's the only other store I remember, except it's very near a Best Buy. Anyway, as we approached, someone who we figured worked there held the door open for us to enter. I found that most hospitable, but the place looked new and I figured he was just being nice until he got us in the door. It turns out he's either the manager or the owner. His name is Rusty, and he was very nice to talk to. I pestered him with questions, and he didn't seem to mind one bit! The place is not big, but that's fine. It keeps it cozy. If you're not into at least one Philly sport, you may not like the interior, which pays homage to the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers and Flyers in one fell swoop on the wall. There's a big picture of big Ryan Howard that makes him look like he's floating. I had to take a picture. I also took pictures of the wall menu, so I wouldn't have to memorize prices for this. Why I didn't take a menu with me is absolutely beyond me. We really just wanted a few burgers, and I wanted some fries, but Rusty was hell-bent on talking about the hot dogs that they're famous for. He mentioned the "secret sauce" at least three if not four times, letting us know it was from 1935. Their original location is on Maryland Ave. in downtown Wilmington ("since 1935!"). I know little about Wilmington, but maybe one day we'll visit that location. We ordered our hamburgers and they were alright. Nothing really juicy. Nothing out of the ordinary. I liked the boardwalk-style fries; they weren't greasy like some. They were definitely fresh-cut and not too thick and not too thin. Finally Rusty wore us down and brought out two hot dogs. Brian put that secret sauce on it ("a secret since 1935!") and mine was plain. I did use yellow mustard. That's usually it on a hot dog for me. I'm a purist, definitely. Maybe you could call me a minimalist when it comes to food like this. These hot dogs were split and grilled. No blackness, though, to them, which I do like. I was hoping for grill marks but nah. However, the flavor was very good, I thought. Brian pronounced his "delicious". Rusty had said that the secret sauce was spicy, but Brian didn't think it was. It's a sort-of-thin chili-type sauce. I asked Rusty who their hot dog supplier was (see, John Fox, I'm learning from you!!), and he told me Kunzler, in Lancaster, PA. Kunzler has been around since 1901. I stupidly didn't ask whether they were all-beef or not. Anyway, we really enjoyed our visit. The service was impeccable, our host congenial as all get-out, and a hamburger and hot dog each, with those fries (and I had iced tea and Brian had Coca Cola) filled our stomachs. The bill came to $12 and some change, but I will be very honest, he didn't charge us for the hot dogs. Listen, this place is not hurting for business, but he just seems to be that kind of guy. I'm not the type to ask for free food by any means, but I sure as hell won't turn it down if it's given to me, either. The prices for the hot dogs are on the zoomed menu board picture I've posted. I would recommend Deerhead Hot Dogs, and next time we're in the area and feel like hot dogs or hamburgers, we'll go there.

i'm not a huge fan of chicago style hotdogs so whenever i'm on the east coast I have to get one. this place is tucked away in a corner and after i read the review about the hotdog with secret sauce i was sold. walked in and the place was small with a decent amount of seating though and a few TVs. I ordered the hotdog with everything on it with fries and a drink. they actually bring the food out to you which I figured out after I saw other ppl other then go sit down while I was just standing there like an out of the know out of towner....the food came out quickly and was nice and hot. the fries are fresh cut and boardwalk style...really good...they have seasoning on the table which reminded me of lawry's or the stuff you get at red robin. i .loved the secret sauce on the hotdog. it was like a thin light colored chili sauce with a really good flavor. for people who aren't spicy food folks it might have a little kick to it but i like things that burn holes in my mouth but it was a nice try at spicy....i pretty much devoured the hotdog right then and almost ordered another hotdog to go but i was stuffed after finishing everything. i wanted to go back before flying out the next day but I had a tight flight out of Philly so I coudn't. However, If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to go again...and again.
