So basically I was visiting Philadelphia and I was bored so I drove down to Delaware for lunch, stopped at this random mall and being Italian I drifted over to the nearest Italian restaurant went in and ordered the calamari, got it and put it down in about 5 minutes because it was AMAZING! even better than my grandmas! #100% Sicilian Approved

LOVE this place!!! I was never much of a pasta person, but after trying some of my finances meal, I was instantly hooked. Come to find out, they have actual chefs that work at this place. It truly shows in their entrees. Fresh beyond fresh. The decor is very tasteful. If it's nice out, you can eat out on the patio and people watch. Very good service. Our last server was by far my favorite (and I've been coming here for years, she must be new). Rachel was her name. I never care for suggesting a specific server when I dine out, but she was THAT GOOD. So if you get her, you're in for a real treat. So all in all, if you're a fan of Tuscan food, I strongly suggest checking this place out!

Brio is becoming our new weeknight date spot before we catch a movie at Christiana. The Ravioli di Bello is delicious and they serve Prosecco by the glass. What more does a girl need? What really makes this place something special though is the manager, Mallory. With all the restaurants in the area, we will continue to return to Brio because of her impeccable customer service!

My absolute favorite happy hour spot! The menu is grown-up! There's no time for nachos or wings. The grilled shrimp with the fried eggplant is incredible! The drinks are even classy and served well. Their Angus burger is full sized, definitely not the usual minis that you see at other establishments! The have a longer happy hour from 4-7, then an additional one at night, from 9- close.

Let me just get this out of the way, I had a horrible experience my first visit to Brio. However, their management stepped up to try and balance the situation - saving a sure 1 star review and lining them up for another chance. So the background, we came here for dinner on a Thursday night. The place wasn't empty, but it wasn't overwhelmingly busy either. Our orders were taken, with both of us opting for a dish off the specials. Then we waited. It seemed like we waited quite a while, but that isn't the root of my concern. The dishes arrived clearly sunburned by the heating lamps. I had a chicken dish and the result was dry, crispy grilled chicken. VL's salmon and crab dish was equally over cooked. It's sad because the portion of the dish covered by the protein, which was shielded from the lamp, was rather good. However, the protein was the main and inedible. Our waiter asked if everything was already and I expressed my disappointment, but didn't ask for anything. He immediately sent the manager over. She heard us out and asked if we'd like new dishes. Unfortunately, while we were both hungry, we were limited on time, and declined. She showed genuine concern and seemed disappointed with the state of the food we received. These actions certainly help put a positive spin on a negative situation. I'd be willing to come back and give them another shot.

Sunday nights are tough for me. Mostly because I want something to be open and I want a choice that isn't going to be too heavy, since I'm probably going to sleep within two hours. Brio seemed like a good choice, so I booked it on OpenTable and stopped here on my way from the airport to the hotel. The reservation was completely not needed. No one came in after me and when my main arrived, I was the only customer in the place. I did choose the chopped salad to start. A large portion of salad, for 9:00 at night it was still quite fresh with a good mix of more than just lettuce. Quite a lot of dressing though. For my main course, the Shrimp Mediterranean seemed like a good idea. Five grilled shrimp on a bed of rice/orzo and grilled veggies. Asparagus, broccoli, spinach and feta cheese sprinkled on top. Quite nice and maybe not too heavy. A good portion. I opted to skip the dessert. Service was good, especially considering that I was her only table.

I was visiting from out of town for work and stopped here for dinner. Good food!

The service was just okay. We sat outside and we were kinda forgotten about, the server was overwhelmed and kept blaming the kitchen, eventually the manager had to get involved and he was awesome, very nice and willing to help. The food took almost an hour but it was good and we will go back because of that.

The five stars go to the server, hands down. The food was good, but the server was awesome. The hostess left a lot to be desired. She was put out by having to seat us. Mumbled when she talked. I thought we expressed that we didn't want to sit in the bar area. Somehow, we ended up in the bar area. We ordered drinks then meals -- a chopped salad and a strawberry chicken salad. The chicken was sliced like deli meat -- not really how I like it (thin shavings were too thin and not visually appealing). Otherwise, the salads were good. The server, however, was just amazing. So friendly and attentive -- she was my favorite part of the visit!

I had my first experience dining at Brios Tuscan Grille the evening of 8/8/15. What a nice restaurant. Our waitress was magnificent with her friendliness and superb ability to make us comfortable for an evening of good dining. She served us very promptly We were a party of four. We shared a squid apetiser which was better than I usually expected. I and my daughter's boyfriend had the Chicken Under the Brick. It was excellent and ample. The chicken was moist, tender and very tasty and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I would order this again. One of my daughter's ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Fettuccine which she thought was good but just so so . My other daughter ordered the Ravioli de Bello. She was not a fan of it's spiceness but thought the raviolis were good. The piece de resistance was the dessert tray and the shared trio of desserts. Great way to finish a good meal. We ordered the trio and two others and shared them all. Talk about decadence! I will go back at some point to try out one of the many offerings

I came here a while back with the fam for a celebration dinner. For starters, we ordered the crab and shrimp fonduta, per Yelp recommendations. Believe it or not, the fondue was the most memorable part of the meal! We particularly enjoyed the parmesan crisps that came with it, so much so that we requested more. Our server brought them obligingly, without charging us extra, in addition to the bread, which we also used to dip into the fondue. Both the bread and crisps were fresh out of the oven and warm. For my entree, I ordered the chicken Pomodoro classico, which consisted of penne and grilled chicken with tomatoes, pine nuts, and basil drizzled with a pesto sauce. My mom went with the shrimp Verduta, a shrimp pasta dish with tomatoes, artichokes, and onions and a sprinkling of pesto bread crumbs, and my brother ordered the grilled salmon, but I forget what my dad had. We were all pleased with our selections, and felt that they were a cut above the Olive Garden, though (IMO) not quite up to the standard of some other local establishments serving Italian food (see my other reviews). Having said that, the dinner prices are a few dollars less than those other establishments, so it's a trade-off. I believe we also ordered dessert (the chocolate torte), but I don't recall much about it. We left quite satiated and happy with our meal. Overall, I'd recommend Brio as a solid Italian joint for DE. If you're at or near the mall and are looking for a nice dinner, this is one of the better options. If you're considering dining at the Olive Garden, drive the extra half mile for better, more interesting food. 3.5 stars. EDIT: I just realized by exploring the website that Brio is Bravo!'s more upscale cousin (based on ingredients and prices). I've never been to a Bravo!, so I can't compare the two.

Admittedly I'm not a fan of chain restaurants but this one isn't bad. Nice open airy feel that is a welcome change to the dark, over decorated, closed in chain restaurants out there. Food seems fresh and of good quality.

We like Brio's, especially the outdoor dining. The last few times however we were neglected after placing our order. No bread was brought to the table at all and our dinners took a very long time, even with restruant almost empty. The waiter never asked us when finished if we wanted coffee or desert. This was three different occasions with three different waiters. Management needs to train staff better on service.

Service was phenomenal! Friendly, attentive, yet gave us space to enjoy our meal. Food arrived fast and tasted great. Portions were large...everyone had enough to bring home for a snack/mini-meal. They have a brunch menu on weekends until 3pm. I had the french toast, which was perfectly cooked and the cream cheese filling was the right amount of sweetness. Other people in the group ordered the pasta alla vodka, which was DELICIOUS! And the lemon chicken, also really really tasty. My parents were splitting the pasta and they were even nice enough to serve it in two separate plates already portioned for sharing...I love when restaurants are thoughtful enough to do this. This is truly a gem of restaurant tucked away in the mall. I can't wait to return here when it's warmer and sit outside in their gorgeous patio area.

Another fabulous and delicious dinning experience at Brio..! The service was outstanding and everything was prepared to my specifications..! This is a must do on a monthly basis..!

Never have I been so irritated by someone at a restaurant who's not even serving me. I've been to Brio more times than I can count and sad to say I won't be back. Swung in to have a quick lunch and drinks at the bar. There was only one other couple farther down the bar, so we were quickly greeted by a super sweet bartender (I'll leave her name out to save her the embarrassment). While she was taking our drink order, a loud man (appearing to be a GM), came running into to the bar area to proclaim "ABOUT TIME!"... To insinuate that we had been waiting way too long for our bartender to wait on us. Which wasn't the least bit true. After she drop our food off and checking in on us a few times, we watched her head down to the other end of the bar to tend to the other couple. After their exchange, we overheard her ask the GM if she could take a few minutes break. That's when shit hit the fan. He immediately got loud and combative with her over the fact that she doesn't work enough hours and being that she's over 18, she's not entitled to one. The level of nonsense got to the point of the other couple butting in to saying something about state laws and breaks. He then turned around to debate the hours and laws with them. I really could not believe I was watching this go down... Our bartender naturally got flustered and upset to the point of walking away from him. As she passed us, I openly said to her that what just happen was not ok. She hurried quickly from the bar, GM 10 steps behind her, still shouting his point. Now no employees at the bar, myself and the other couple all looked at each other in disbelief. When the GM returned 5 minutes later, he stood in the area between the bar and the dinning room. Casually gossiping about what just happened to any employee who walked by him. After watching all this go down, I was livid to the point I couldn't stand being there any longer. The couple next to us wrapped up their tab, asked the GM if he could give her (addressing him with her name) their tip money when she came back. He assured them he would (wouldn't put it passed him if he didn't). Another shake of their heads at us and they were gone. Our bartender returned about a minute later. We quickly finished our one drink and small appetizer when she asked if we would like another round. I declined and said we had planned on it; however I could not be in the same space as that GM. I was sure to ask her if they split tips there (which they don't) because I didn't want my few bucks going to that disgusting noob. Before leaving I got his name, Jonathan. And told the bartender how that was handled completely unprofessional and definitely undeserved, not to put up with that mess. No one needs that kind of abuse.

Had dinner here with my brother and mother for her birthday. Shocking that it can be so inconsistent, although my first 2 reviews were based on happy hour only. The cream of mushroom soup had tiny chopped bits of mushrooms, I expected larger pieces. The flatbread tasted like cardboard. I ordered the Mediterranean Shrimp. The orzo and the vegetables were fantastic, but the shrimp itself was overcooked, chewy, and dry. This should really be a 1 but the sevice was good so I'm bumping to a 2. I was supposed to come here with a date, but I'll no longer be making that suggestion when there are so many other good places to go. Bringing my mother here was my suggestion also. Wow, I had 3 disappointing restaurant reviews in one weekend!!

One of my new favorite restaurants! I had the pasta pesto, and I really liked it. The chicken, angel hair pasta, and light pesto sauce was cooked and seasoned to perfection. They had Dreaming Tree white wine blend on special, and it was absolutely delicious. I love the crunchy flatbreads served after you are seated, which are seasoned with rosemary and sundried tomatoes. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, with muted neutral colors and a vaulted ceiling with white linens draped from the center...just pretty, airy, and relaxing. Our food came out quickly and service was quick in general. There were a number of items on the menu I want to come back and try!

Hey, Delaware! I found a place in your state that can make Italian food! This was a good dining experience with good food. The restaurant is open enough that you aren't squished with other people, the lighting is comfortable, and the decor is elegant. Our server was very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. The bread was tasty and still warm. Our salads were delicious - just a regular chopped house salad, but more interesting than what you'd expect. Olives, red onions, small pieces of cucumber and tomatoes, and feta cheese. Really wonderful. I ordered the pasta pesto without chicken, and he ordered the pasta vodka. He finished his food and said it was a perfect amount of food - only downside was that he didn't realize there was bacon inside, and he could have done without it. My food was really fabulous. It wasn't overpowered by a pesto taste (or appearance) but was garlicky, perfectly salted, and had enough spinach to make me feel like I was eating something healthy. I picked out the caramelized onions, but someone who likes onions would have enjoyed that addition. For dessert we had the double chocolate cake thing that comes in a small cup. It was pretty good, nothing overly special but I do love chocolate desserts. I would love to come back here to try more dishes, or to just eat that pesto again. My coworkers even commented on how amazing the cold leftovers smelled! Yum.

Decent food, the portions are more than I can eat, the wait staff is always nice, and the food comes quickly. They take care of the kids nicely too. Over all we have had a good experience every time we have gone here. We will continue to go here as opposed to Olive Garden any time.

I hate this place!!!Food was not so good. The most disgusting thing is all of ours credit card has been illegally used. At first, I was wondering if it was someone in other places since I also used my card there. However, when it happened to all of us, I realized it must be this restaurant since we never spent money at the same time and same place except here. Never come this place again. If someone still want to try it. Watch your card and use cash!

The Las Vegas location is one of my favorite eateries there and I don't usually like chain establishments, but I was happy to find out there was one in the Philadelphia area. So off we went to the Mall and decided to have lunch here. It's the same Americanized 'Tuscan' decor which is pleasing to the eye and comfy. The Campanelle Carbonara did not disappoint with its creamy sauce, bacon, spinach. The pasta dishes never disappoint. If you like to dip, and I don't know anyone who doesn't, the Crab & Shrimp Fonduta is 'absolutely delish', as some on the West Coast would say. I may just order one of these as an entree next time all for myself. Don't want to share next time. The batter is light and crispy, the portion plentiful for all of the Calamari Fritto Misto. Brio Chopped Salad holds no surprises, but is fresh andbeautiful Bistecca Insalata this is a classic salad with an added twist of gorgonzola cheese instead of bleu. We should have read the menu a little more closely, because the Sweet Potato & Chicken Risotto disappointed my sister-in-law. She was expecting to be served a piece of roasted chicken with some risotto, but it's all mixed in with bits of chicken. The only dish that was left almost untouched. Don't know if its because this is a popular dish in Argentina, where my other half and his brother grew up, but the Chicken Milanese was a big hit. Great portion for the hungry. Breaded just right with the sauce ratio right on the money. This disappeared from the plate quickly. The 'piece du resistance' were the Brio Crab & Shrimp Cakes. This is another entree I will be ordering in the near future. Light, fluffy and flavorful with no need for sauce other than a squeeze of lemon juice. I want to have these cakes and eat it too... Over and over again.

Sat on the patio. Waited 15 minutes for a server to come by, but were ignored by the 3 servers working the area. No one said anything to us until we got up to leave: "have a nice day!" I am now that I'm sitting at another restaurant.

Stopped in for a quick snack on our way through Delaware. Had the shrimp and crab fonduta and chopped salad. The fonduta was pretty tasty but the salad was very basic. All in all this place is nothing special but beats eating at the mall food court!

Most all of the food selections are good with exception of the calamari, it taste like mush. Drinks are good and fair priced. Very nice atmosphere, great bartenders with exception of a taller heavyset guy who talks a lot and then forgets your order and drink refills. We wont sit at the bar if he is working. Over all a nice place for good food and good drinks.

We had wonderful David as our server - he graciously let us take our time, put in orders slowly, let us gab the girlie gab that girls do on girlie nights. And as girls do, as soon as they brought the warm, extra sourdough bread, we had to order a second one. Carbs. What can I say? We ordered a bottle of wine (two glasses a piece with ease) - the Sartori Family Reserve Pinot Noir. Light bodied with hints of berries - not overpoweringly "red wine" ish, but delicious nonetheless. I'm a cab girl myself, so I was happy just to have something of my favorite color. We all spilt the bruschetta Quattro - again two apiece, and they were warm, smelled good, and reminded me of why I love bread so much. I ate one with Mozzarella, tomatoes and basil, and another with prosciutto and asparagus. Please provide me with everything prosciutto. Thanks. I ordered Pasta Fra Diavolo which was really quite good. I ordered shrimp to go in it - never chicken if I can help it. The sauce was not heavy, though it could have been a little lighter, maybe even pinker, with more tomatoes. I enjoy spicy, so I would've even requested spicier if that had been an option. Maybe it was - I could ask next time. Dessert. Oh boy, dessert. We spilt two - the chocolate lava cake and the mascarpone cheesecake (which looks like an ice cream cookie). I don't enjoy chocolate unless it's white or has hazelnuts, so I passed on their wonderfully looking dessert, and could only eat about half of the cheesecake. I would order this first, with wine, the next time I came. It was sweet, at some points overpoweringly so when mixed with the caramel and whipped cream, and I loved every moment of it. We spent close to two hours wining and dining here without once feeling rushed. I liked that I didn't feel as if I was attached to the mall, and that it never got too loud. As with Big Fish, I loved the tall ceilings and spaced out tables, and low yellow light. Very enjoyable.

Food is okay but it is impossibly slow! Waited 45 minutes for pasta, and the place isn't crowded at all. Maybe the kitchen's understaffed?

Went to brio today for lunch. Originally planned to go to Cheesecake Factory but the wait for a table was 90 minutes. I do have to say that the waitress was excellent and the service was great. Started with the calamari. It was room temperature and was served with marinara and garlic aioli that looked exactly like snot. My salad was just ok, the chicken on it was breaded and dry. The people I was with seemed to enjoy their food so who knows, maybe it was just me.

We had dinner at Brio today, for the first time. This is a upscale-ish chain Italian restaurant at the Christiana Mall. We all had fish dishes of some sort, mahi in my case, and salmon in my wife's case. I think everything was tasty, in a generic sort of way, but I would not say anything was better than that. This is not a really a critical comment, but I hope it gives you a sense of the kind of place this is. This is the kind of restaurant that never will be really excellent, but if you are at the mall or nearby, and want to have a pleasant dinner, your choice (in Newark, DE at least) would be Brio or the Cheesecake Factory. These are certainly not bad places, but they are also not exceptional in any way.

Wife and I went to Brio for dinner last night. This is our second time there in about a year. The first time was excellent. This time, not so much. We arrived and were pleasantly greeted at the front door and reception area. We got our pager and were told it was about a 45 minute wait. Instead of waiting we decided to walk through the mall. We returned about 40 minutes later and they thought we stole their pager. Apparently the wait was only 20 minutes. They did their best and found us a table in less than 5 minutes, which they didn't have to do since it was our fault for not being there. We sat and our waiter greeted us. Wife ordered wine and I a soda. When the drinks arrived, her wine tasted like it was watered down. I'm not a wine drinker, but I'll sneak a sip here and there. If it tasted water down to me, it was. I ordered Wedding Soup and the wife mozzarella and tomatoes. My soup was all broth and one meatball with a couple of pasta if I really dug to the bottom. Took 5 minutes to get ahold of the waiter to send it back. When he returned, I had about 8 meatballs, but about one good spoon full of veggies and pasta. Bead came same time as the soup and I think that it should have come with the drinks. Wife loved her's, everything was fresh. For the meal wife had Mahi mahi and I had a pasta which was supposed to have pancetta in it. It was good, but I couldn't find or taste the crispy pancetta. Wife said her fish was good, but the bed of faro was dry and inedible. Desert, which was an oversized shot glass, took 10 minutes to arrive. Milk Chocolate carmel cake, I think, but it was good. We had $61.10 left on a gift card and the meal was $61.54. I'm glad I didn't pay for the meal. Our server was pleasant, but wasn't Johnny on the spot to please. The soup incident left a bad taste in my mouth, as did the wine. I don't think we'll be back.

Mothers Day 2014 and Dave's fifteenth birthday was our first time here! We all left pleased and full. Our meal started with Three apps.- an asparagus prosciutto bruschetta, crab and shrimp fondue and fried calimari . All three were well executed, I really liked the bruschetta, the balsamic finished the dish with a great sweetness. Next up was Lobster bisque served in a lions head terrine, a mixed green salad with pine nuts and two Caesars. My mixed greens ( mesclun ) was quite fresh and the crumbled bleu gave it a nice bite. Our entrees included - angel hair pesto, carbonara, lobster and shrimp linguine and my strip steak Gorgonzola . I asked for it Pittsburg and it came with a beautiful crust and red center. Really enjoyed the roasted vegetables that accompanied it! My big bold Cab was a nice touch to the richness of the steak. Chocolate lava cake and a Peanutbutter parfait was our finishing touch. Our server Allison was polite and attentive. She kept up with table maintenance and served like a professional! It was quite busy and we did not feel rushed nor neglected. We'll be back!

Apps are the star of the menu. The entrees are above average, but nothing really stands out. This was our third visit and we had a large group. The service at Brio is professional, but not always great. First time they were busy, second time they were not, and this last time they were busy. All three times it was always the same thing, getting simple refills of drinks took forever. Not sure if it is how they assign the tables or the workload, but the servers just can't seem to provide great service, whether they are busy or slow. The Bruschetta is worth the trip alone.

Really nice place for a date or family sit down affair. I went after work on a Weds night and we were seated right away. For the price, portions are fair. I can't eat this much food in a sitting anymore, but I'm sure someone with a bigger appetite would be happy. Location is also good - right by the mall - so you got something to do to burn off the calories after...! I had the chicken limon which was pretty good. Would have liked the chicken more grilled (tasted fried) and the veggies were a bit in the salty side. Overall, good but not great. Would go again if I wanted a fancy date, although I would do CPK first for pizza etc. Place also has an outdoor area, but it was too cold on this particular night to try it out.

Went to Brio for New Year's Eve. We love it there. We enjoy going to the bar area for drinks and appetizers. Last night was a special occasion. I retired. John the manager greeted us upon arrival. Told him my news. After we were seated the waitress congratulated me. She then said dessert was on the house. What a kind gesture! I will definitely recommend Brio to family and friends. Thank you John!!

Went with a party of 4, everyone's orders were perfect except for mine. I ordered a steak crusted with gorgonzola and substituted a side. The side substitution was completely wrong and the steak was not crusted in any way. I brought it to the runners attention and was offered to take it back, but it honestly didn't bother me enough to do it, I offered instead to just have them bring me out a cup of it to use. The manager came over and apologized profusely even though I was not that bothered by the simple mistake. Our waitress apologized as well. The Chef even came out and apologized, and pointed out that the waitress put the order in but his kitchen made the error. I've had resturants make mistakes before but never try to make amends like this. Veryb impressive, and the complimentary dessert sampler for the trouble didn't hurt either.

Had a really great experience here last night. We sat in a booth in the bar area since we came in late. Sometimes when you sit in the bar for dinner not drinks , and the bartender is your server you don't always get top notch service, but that was not the case last night. We had friendly prompt accurate service and all our dishes came out fresh/ hot! We asked for extra bread half way through the meal and even though it had already been thrown out as it was closing time If not passed, but the chef/servers were kind enough to bake us a couple fresh pieces. So kind!! We got the Caesar salad large portion which I kept coming back to all night because it was so fresh and crunchy, lobster bisque which is always good if you like cream based soups, and pasta brio...the rigatoni noodles were cooked perfectly ,I thought the red pepper sauce was questionable I would've preferred a regular meat sauce but that's just a personal taste and has nothing to do with this restaurants performance. I will definitely return and sit in the bar without hesitation.

Last night was my birthday; 3 of my friends and I chose Brio as the place to celebrate. It couldn't have been more perfect! Daniel M. was our server; rates at the top of the best servers EVER! He anticipated everything we wanted, even before we knew it. He was efficient, while also being personable and funny. The food was excellent: I highly recommend the Roasted Garlic, Spinach & Artichoke dip - fabulous! We all highly enjoyed everything about the evening (except the snow!). I hadn't been to Brio in a while, but will definitely go back soon. Thanks for a great evening!

First of all, the portions here are HUGE. I went with a friend and we got 2 appetizers, and that was more than enough food. We couldn't finish the food we had, so I couldn't imagine getting an entree unless I was starving. The food was really good though. We got the spinach and artichoke dip and the calamari. I loved the spinach and artichoke dip! It came with nicely seasoned bread and had just the right amount of ingredients. Nothing was overpowering, which is common in this dip. There was also a nice cheese layer on top. The calamari was a bit soft, but still good. The breading kept falling off, so I would have liked it a bit crispier, but it was still yummy. It came with 2 sauces, a marinara and a cream sauce. Personally, I liked the cream sauce much better. I think it paired well with the flavor of the calamari.

Great place for early dinner to wait for rush hour to clear. We ate here on 4 JAN 2013 Husband and I had a day off together and decided to go south of the border. We wandered around the Concord Mall and then headed to the Christiana Mall. Neither of us had heard of Brio before. We walked in at 5pm. Our waitress was Tara. She has some great recommendations, she was engaging and very good at anticipating our needs. We tried the Bruschetta Quattro it's a sampler of the various kinds and the flavors were wonderful. Our favorite was the Sliced Steak Bruschetta, with the sharp cheeses playing of the sweetness of the steak. My husband had the lobster bisque. It was served in a lovely mini tureen. There were a few shrimp in it, overall it was rather bland, which was fine for him. I had the chopped salad with house dressing. It was iceberg with feta, black olives, tomatoes and cucumbers. A very basic salad. The house vinaigrette was tasty. For our main course, my husband had the Tuscan Harvest salad and I had the Grilled Shrimp with Orzo. The orzo was a little oily and bland but the grilled shrimp had a blacked and lemon pepper seasoning on them, so one cut up and mixed with the orzo, the spices blended quite nicely. There were also bits of grilled asparagus, grilled zucchini and grape tomatoes mixed in. The orzo was cooked perfectly and it was a pleasing dish to look at and eat. My husband was very happy with his salad. I did not get to taste it because he inhaled it, but he said he'd get it again. For desert we ordered coffee, espresso and Torta Di Cioccolata (Rich chocolate cake with warm center topped with Vanilla Bean Gelato and chocolate syrup) and it had strawberries with it. We had a very nice experience there and we had a leisurely meal, Tara never made us feel rushed or like she wanted her table back (we were seated in the first booth close to the front door). She allowed us time to savor our meal and enjoy the atmosphere.

Went for the 1st time yesterday for a business lunch. The staff is five star! My issue is that they offer ZERO options without meat or cheese. Hard to believe that a popular place like this doesn't provide at least one option. I had the special Brio salad without the gorgonzola. It was good, but for this reason, I am out:( My collegues liked their dishes. If I had to choose a chain restaurant at the Christiana Maill it would be California Pizza Kitchen or Cheesecake Factory which have some create plant based menu items.

Great food but the staff was rude and unprofessional. A waitress bumped into my friend's chair multiple times and just kept walking. Apparently this happens quite often. Fortunately the food overshadowed the staff.

Gross over-salted, over-greased mall food. Don't be fooled by the kitschy exterior and high prices. To top it all of, service was non-existant on my recent visit.

Outside was perfect!!! We had great service and the food was fabulous!!! They have a real attention to service here. The calamari rocks! $5 wine martinis and mojitos mon-fri and a $3.95 burger that is 10 ozs!!!! With homemade chips!!!

My sister lives near by and they need to give her a membership card! The head chef comes out and greets her and made us a dish that wasn't on the menu with crab meat and shrimp! I can't wait to go back. The decorations are beautiful!

One of the better restaurants in Newark, DE. Food was good. Great place for brunch. Service was so so. Price is kind of on the high side. Brio has outside seating which is great during the summer and fall.

Really nice atmosphere and good service but the food is a little above mediocre. Some of the bread they give you to start with is overloaded with herbs which I wasn't feelin. Calamari was slammin as was the brio chopped salad. The margharita flatbread was good but not hot enough.

Brio is a nice change of pace from the Olive Gardens of the world. The lasagna is unique in that it is flat and wide instead of stacked and covered in both Alfredo and marinara sauces. The chicken Milanese is a nice spin on chicken Parm. The pasta alla vodka is one of the most delicate dishes with drawstring pouch style cheese stuffed pastas, blush sauce and basil chiffonade. **Add chicken to the pasta alla vodka otherwise you may leave hungry. The bistecca ensalata is a delicious wedge salad with a creamy Parmesan dressing. There is a lemon lobster pasta dish I had once that tasted sickeningly sweet and artificial, lemon reminded me of fruit loops cereal-steer clear of that one. The bread basket is boring and uninspired. The restaurant is also pricey as pasta runs in the $15-20 range and does not include a salad. You can add a salad for $4.75; I believe it is a wopping 24 cents savings from the dinner salad to adding a salad to your dinner. In the early days this restaurant had much better service. The waitstaff used to scrape bread crumbs off the table and grind fresh pepper on your salad, now you are lucky if they remove dirty plates before the next course and if there is a small self serve pepper grinder on the table. Im also displeased the special features menu was replaced with a lighter fare menu-can't we have both Brio?! Lastly want to mention in VA dined at Bravo and had to look but confirmed the restaurants are one and the same w/ slight menu differences. I gave 4 stars because there are some great dishes that I would continue to go back for.

Crab bisgue pretty good, a bit too cheesy for me. The crab cakes pretty good but pretty small, think silver dollar size. Grilled veggies looked yummy, the taste was lacking. Maybe I'm too picky. I'd still go back for something else, but next time I'll go hawngre.

I'll write about the food a little on down, but I just wanted to give a shout out to my waitress, Heidi. She was, by far, one of the best waitresses I've EVER had. Very professional and helpful. She was attentive without being overbearing, even though I was a table of one. (This is entirely in contrast to the host staff, who was VERY rude and seemed indignant that I didn't want to sit in the bar alone). As for the food, it was excellent. I got the Lobster bisque, which was pretty good. The Fettuccine Napoli (I think) was excellent and well seasoned. The egg noodles were beyond amazing. The godiva liquer hot chocolate was also out of the world. All in all, very good restaurant. Great food and AMAZING waitress. Props to Heidi.

This place has loads of potential and my review is solely based on the HH I went to. Seated at one of the high top bar area tables our server was friendly and accommodating. The food specials cant be beat a 2.95 menu featuring burgers spinach dip , bruschetta a few others. The portions are filling and the food is quality. We started with a pitcher of peach sangria it was light and refreshing my only beef is that the pitcher was more than half ice and we had ice in our glasses already. Sangria isn't an expensive drink to make and the pitchers ring in at 18.00 I would had liked more bang for my buck. We started off with the raviolis, and the spinach dip the dip was a miss it tasted of frozen dip that was reheated and had a weird consistency. The flatbread pieces that came along side were great crisp and cheesy. The raviolis were my favorite app the filling was cheese and herbs and they were breaded and served alongside a spicy tomato sauce , herbed oil and mozzarella MMMMMMMMM. We switched over to red sangria and requested A LOT less ice. This pitcher was more filling (of the alcohol variety) and you could actually taste the wine :0 . We did a two additional small plates the red pepper bruschetta and the burger for my dining companion both were ok the house made chips fell flat and the bruchetta wasn't nearly as good as it read on the menu. We didn't do dessert but the "tray " looked great . id come back for dinner I glanced at the dining room menu and there are entrees for every taste and budget. ill have to return to update once i have a sit down meal

This is an Italian chain restaurant (though a smaller chain) that performs fairly well. Don't expect subtlety here, it's very much "in your face" with both presentation and flavor. We started with the ricotta roasted tomato bruschetta. So underwhelming, and at $10, not exactly a bargain. What we got was 6 pieces of bread that either hadn't been toasted at all, or not for long enough, covered it a glop of ricotta cheese, then drowned in a balsamic reduction. We found a whole 2 pieces of tomato on all 6 pieces of bread. If you could make it through the biting acidity of the balsamic, you were greeted by way too much ricotta, to the point you couldn't taste anything else after you bit into it. That said, both the lasagna and fettucine with lobster and shrimp were good. The lasagna had both a red sauce and an alfredo on it, and was a very large portion. The fettucine was extremely heavy on the garlic, but the cream sauce was a delight. Service was very fast, though a bit clumsy at times. Our waiter insisted on trying to balance dishes on one hand while carrying glasses and a pitcher of tea with the other. He almost lost them both. He also liked to reach over the table and our plates when refilling drinks and removing sugar packets. When he asked about the bruschetta, we gave our honest opinion, and he removed it from the tab. We made sure to tip him well for that. I'd put the price point and the style of restaurant to be that of Maggiano's, but I think Maggiano's has the better food.

Ended up at Brio's for a dinner meeting with a Prix Fixe menu. Started off with a sourdough bread which was warm with a moist center and substantial crust. An appetizer tray of bruschetta with different toppings came next. I had bruschetta with a slice of beef tenderloin and arugula with some balsamic vinegar. The arugula was fresh and peppery, the tenderloin was tender. The bruschetta itself was well toasted. Another topping was mozzarella, tomatoes, and a mix of greens. While it sounds great it did seem to fall a little flat; good but not outstanding. Salad was a simple clean insalata with iceberg lettuce and other chopped toppings. Main course was tournedos di manzo, 2 small filet with romano crusted tomatoes, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. First off the asparagus was well cooked and even from stem to tip, very well made. However, the flavor of the asparagus was somewhat muted and not as strong or bright was I would have hoped from the even texture and good color. Mashed potatoes were soft and fluffy, but very flat in taste, no buttery or cheesy notes and lacking in adequate salting. The tomatoes were juicy with a thin cheese crust, no bright, rich, sweet tomatoes here unfortunately. The hollandaise sauce was evenly made and smooth with a nice creamy texture. The actual tournedos were well cooked a moderately done crust and tender/moist center. While all of the components sounded great and looked well made the levels of flavor were lacking and a limited amount of complexity to the dishes. Desert were several sampler size cups of different dolchinos, I partook of the banana coconut. The coconut was shavings mixed with a creamy but bland banana. I had to remind myself that this is a chain and to take it easy. Over all the dishes appeared great and sounded like they should be awesome. However, even if the components were well done the overall dishes lacked a bit in flavor. I expected a lot better based on the appearance of the meal and the ingredients. The meal was okay but not great (and I mean just okay). Perhaps food from the non-prix fixe menu that we had for a group get together is better. I waffled between a 2 and a 3 star for Brio's but I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since it was a prix fixe menu. The staff was very good; quick, courteous, and attentive which makes me feel better about the 3 star.

Went to the mall and got hungry so tried this place. Decor is gorgeous, seriously, love it. Went here for lunch and it was pretty busy. Service was great and friendly. I ordered the Pasta Yandolino and it was huge and very tasty. Great deal for $10. My friend got the Salmon and really liked it. Kinda reminds me of Maggianos but definitely cheaper. Really digging the place. Will definitely come back.

I loved the food recommendation it was delicious, the atmosphere was nice & the drinks were pretty yummy....only drawback...a pushy waiter that wanted me to put in a good word to management! I dont get that but he was pretty nice...FYI next buddy let me recommend you on my own without your 2cents :) Other than that good food & good atmosphere!

I used to rave about this place but I don't know if I will ever go back. We drove all the way there for the happy hour special and could not get a seat. I can understand that but in this case it's was because the bartenders had allowed people to save at least 5 seats at the bar and had even put place settings there to hold the seats for them. I do not think that is a good policy.

Most recently my wife and I visited Brio for her birthday dinner. We were acknowledged quickly and Showed right to a table so the wait time was more than acceptable. We ordered the carpaccio right away which we always enjoy and recommend highly. The salty capers mustard and Parmesan cheese complement the beef so well. The regular portion size is quite large, so only order if you're with a crowd. They do have a smaller version for two people. For dinner we each had a Caesar salad, which is always good, and my wife ordered a gluten-free pasta option while I got the pasta pesto. While the waitress was nice, she did mess up our orders, bringing me a different pasta dish, and including croutons on my wife's Caesar salad when she can't have the gluten. This is certainly a passable mistake, but we have been there before and had similar errors with our orders. Not sure if it's the waitstaff or the kitchen. Despite these errors, we both enjoyed our dishes, and were more than satisfied. Prices are comparable to other Italian restaurants, and quality equal to that of the Olive Garden or similar. We enjoy going there because of the convenient location, and because the atmosphere is nice - always quiet, low lot, and friendly service.

Had a very nasty experience at this Bistro. The manager was very rude to my (10yr) daughter. I could tell he was the manager he was wearing a tie and asking how peoples dinner were. She had put her shoe up on the seat to tie it, and this manager embarrassed her in front of our dinner party . Telling her to put her foot down. She is ultra sensitive so it ruined our night out. Certainly he could have waited the seconds it took her to tie her shoe. Hopefully he will be replaced with someone with more customer savvy ....DESPITE the food we will not be back.

I wouldn't have known this was a chain if I hadn't been told so. I went to Brio for the first time around christmas last year. A friend of mine works at the Target at the mall and said his co-workers told him about the bar. We got there around 6. Unfortunately, the bar was full and there were already people waiting for a seat. (Who can blame them--all that glowing neon! It was classy, though). Anyway, we were seated right away and had a great waitress. She was upbeat, knowledgeable and not in-your-face friendly. We started with the roasted garlic, spinach & artichoke dip, which was just like you'd expect, basic but tasty. I ordered the sliced steak bruschetta w/ gorgonzola dolce, arugula, fennel, charred tomato, shaved parmigiano-reggiano and tuscan italian dressing. I paired this with Malbec Kaiken--couldn't have done it better! It was just the right amount of food, without giving you that roll me to the car feeling. I've been back a few times and haven't had a bad meal yet!

I was surprised at how good this place was - much better than chains like, say, Macaroni Grille. The lobster bisque and shrimp on eggplant was delicious. The fried squid was tender; they will also saute it for you but that was a bit overcooked and a little tough, so best to stick with the fried. My brother liked his lamp chops with gorgonzola, my dad liked his veal, and my husband liked his veal marsala, which is rare - most places don't use enough marsala. (Which is odd - it's veal MARSALA, so why not toss some marsala in it?) Our waitress was nice and efficient and went out of her way to be helpful. But she had that unfortunate determination you often find among waitpeople at chains to take plates away at every opportunity. During the first course we were still dipping bread in the tomato and aioli sauce, but it was like she had decided that while we clearly WEREN'T done, we SHOULD be. She stood and scanned the table while we paused with our forks in our hands, and finally announced triumphantly that she had found some plates to take. She grabbed them and sped off. We looked at each other. At the end of the meal three of us asked for boxes. Now when I have a meal with sauce I like to box it myself, because waitpeople in their understandable briskness slide the leftovers off the plate and totally miss the sauce. She said she would get the boxes and that she "would just take this one here" (mine). I said, "no, that's okay, I'll do it!" She literally snatched it up and ran off with it. When she came back we found that indeed the leftovers were now perfectly dry, so my darling husband asked her if she could get a little sauce in a container for me. She very kindly said she would do what she could, but then made an unexpected and lightning fast dart at my brother's plate. Fortunately he was too quick for her and pinned it to the table. I wish I could teach a course to waitpeople on how to chill out. If customers are paying for food, that food is their property, and the waitperson should let the customer do what he or she wants with it rather than what the waitperson wants to do with it. I don't expect to box my own leftovers in a high-end restaurant, but I do think I can be allowed to do so at a lower level chain. I shouldn't have to fling myself across my plate to be able to finish eating, or to put my leftovers in a box.

The absolute worst Italian food I have ever tasted. The only thing that is truly Italian is the decor. The flatbreads are horrible pizzas made with the same ingredients as some frozen pizza ive had from the supermarket. Ya know those little rabbit shit sausage pellets? Embarassing. The chicken risotto with asparagus had neither risotto or asparagus. The bowl looked like chow mein. No risotto and the "asparagus" was actually green beans. Really? My lasagna consisted of three layers of pasta. shredded meat under one, cheese under a another with alfredo sauce under the whole thing and red sauce over the whole thing. Where do they get these recipes? The staff knew something was wrong when the whole family took two bites and stopped eating. The manager came over to inquire but we just played it off as its not what we are used to eating. He was most accomodating and removed the entrees from the bill without us asking which was most admirable. We have too much real italian food where we live to eat at a pseudo italian chain. We eat anything and everything, we never send food back, we arent that critical about our food choices but I can honestly say it was the worst meal i have ever had.

Stopped in for the first time for a drink and appetizer at the bar after shopping. My husband went to move the car closer (we had parked at the other end of the mall) which gave me at least 15 minutes at the bar. It wasn't busy at all, maybe 4 people at the bar and a few diners at bar tables. The 2 "bartenders" talked to each other the entire time, looking at me often, and refused to wait on me. A server flew by and I caught her attention asking for a wine list. She literally threw it at me as she hurried away. When my husband arrived we informed the manager and promptly left. We crossed over and went into J. B. Dawson's and experienced the exact opposite of Brio's; 10 steps away; world's apart!!!

We took my mom here for her birthday. Also I was sent a coupon for 15.00 off 2 dinner entrees. This is my 3rd or 4th time eating here and nothing bad yet. This time we started off with the beef carpaccio which is always great and a huge portion for the money. It comes with a little salad in the middle. Also had the bruschetta sampler. It was tasty but a little pricey at 15.00 however it was alot of food. there were 4 kinds-steak and gorgonzola, antipasta, fresh motz and red pepper and sun dried tomato and goat cheese. all really good and flavorfull. I had the pasta brio. very flavorfull but not a ton of chicken which was okay since i had 2 appetizers. the pasta was cooked perfectly. My mom had the alla vodka sauce which was in little pasta purses and a little spicy. delicious! bf had chicken skewer's with mashed potatoes. it was also good but not something i would order in a restaurant. for dessert a cheesecake and carrot cake. both really good. and a small size so good if stuffed. waitress did forget my 2nd wine which i didnt really need but she brought it out with dessert at no charge which was nice. Also no wait on a sunday night but probably due to hurricane. will always go back here.

stopped in for lunch after doing some xmas shopping...setting is very nice, upscale and clean, a good atmosphere. 3 choices for lunch special at $8 each, very cheap. went with the chipotle chicken & bacon panini and seasonal brushetta. the panini was tasty, but a bit too greasy for me, maybe unavoidable with panini's...the brushettta was very good, very filling. overall, good experience, and would try again. menu seems to have good choices

The atmosphere is divine, very impressive architecture & design. We have always had great service & the food is very good as well. Wish they had a few more menu choices, kinda limited if you only eat seafood. Kids get some dough to make their own little pizza. Overall we love it, would absolutely go back.

The boyfriend and I came here on Tuesday after strolling around the mall. The atmosphere had me charmed instantly although the service ruined it for me. Our waiter, Richard, was cordial but by the end of our meal, he seemed grouchy. Plus we saw another member of the waitstaff jump and smack the chandelier which to me is really childish. My margherita flatbread was not the best I've ever tasted, nor was the side salad that came with it. Rob seemed to enjoy his chicken parm though. It looks like a nice place to grab drinks and sit outside if the weather is right!

My fiancé and I had lunch here today, and we loved it. We walked past lots of times during our Christmas shopping and always said we would be back to eat there during the summer so we could sit in their lovely patio area. Well, today was the perfect day for it--not too hot, not too cold. My fiancé had the Swordfish Grigliata which was very spicy, way too spicy for me, but he enjoyed it.This was swordfish and tomatos on a skewer and served with fettucine with a spicy marinara sauce.I had the Crab and Shrimp-Crusted Tilapia with potatoes and roasted vegetables. It was a special today. I also had the Chopped Salad and a bowl of Lobster Bisque, both were very tasty. The bisque was just right, and didn't hurt my stomach at all like other bisques I've had. For dessert, I had a carrot cake dolchino-- it was a little too creamy, but edible.

Ok it's at a mall. The restaurant is nice and service wonderful. The happy hour times have been changed to earlier times to 330p til 630p. The later times were better. They also got rid of the late night 9p happy hour. Not cool but understand it must have been bad business model. Happy hour has $4-6 drink specials and food specials $4-6. Nice food and drinks for a price you can't beat. Dan is my favorite server but has moved on to main dining room mostly. Patience has moved into management so I have recently had Micky and Matthew and both were good. I tip 30 percent or more on happy hour since really low priced specials and I remember the servers are still working hard, I'm just paying a lot less. Dinner good too but really annoyed they changed menu and took away the whole roasted chicken. They added new brunch items but I haven't tried them yet. Overall a nice restaurant especially for a mall.

The food was excellent: I highly recommend the Roasted Garlic, Spinach & Artichoke dip - fabulous! We all highly enjoyed everything about the evening (except the snow!).

One of the better restaurants in Newark, DE. Food was good. Great place for brunch. Service was so so. Price is kind of on the high side. Brio has outside seating which is great during the summer and fall.

Really nice atmosphere and good service but the food is a little above mediocre. Some of the bread they give you to start with is overloaded with herbs which I wasn't feelin. Calamari was slammin as was the brio chopped salad. The margharita flatbread was good but not hot enough.

Great food but the staff was rude and unprofessional. A waitress bumped into my friend's chair multiple times and just kept walking. Apparently this happens quite often. Fortunately the food overshadowed the staff.

Yum.

Gross over-salted, over-greased mall food. Don't be fooled by the kitschy exterior and high prices. To top it all of, service was non-existant on my recent visit.

The service was just okay. We sat outside and we were kinda forgotten about, the server was overwhelmed and kept blaming the kitchen, eventually the manager had to get involved and he was awesome, very nice and willing to help. The food took almost an hour but it was good and we will go back because of that.

Great restaurant, excellent service, and reasonable prices and the food is outstanding. It was my 18th year anniversary and my wife and i enjoyed it. I will come again.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
