There are two good Mexican restaurants in Middletown and this is one of them. I've eaten here twice and both were good experiences. They have an extensive collection of Mexican beers, including my favorite: Dos Equis Amber. They also make good magaritas. Be sure to try a pork tamale if you come. They are very tasty. I had the Tequila's special dinner, a chile relleno, a chicken enchilada and a beef burrito. All were good as as the accompanying rice and refried beans. The only thing they really need to improve is service. The servers are not always attentive.

We came for lunch. The restaurant was basically empty but nicely decorated. The chips and salsa were good. I liked the salsa better than some other restaurants we tried. The enchiladas were good. My boyfriends burrito was tasty but on the small side. Drink were delicious. I would definitely try dinner next time

Just came here for CC Sips with some friends. Bartender wasn't super friendly, but whatever. 2 main issues - he took my drink which still had some left in it (I definitely was not done), and when I asked for my tab, he just ran my credit card without letting me see the bill beforehand. Who the heck does that? I was mad that he took my drink so I decided rather than staying for another, I'd catch the next train that gave me about 10 min to get to Suburban. I was in a rush, so didn't even bring up the check issue. I realized while running to the train, that it was more than it should've been so I was charged for either something I didn't order and/or it was a mix-up from another tab. I don't care what the reason is, but you SHOW people their tabs and they confirm before you run the card. Oh wait, another issue. Drinks were supposed to be $5 on the CC Sips special - they were charging $5.50. The only thing that brought this to 2 stars is the food. Chicken taquitos and chips/guac/salsa were absolutely delicious. The margarita and sangria weren't half bad either. But yeah, I won't be back.

We came here not too long ago in search of a new favorite Mexican restaurant. The service was great, our server was very quick and helpful. The food was good. Nothing particularity stuck out about it. Our margaritas were fantastic. My only complaint was the cost. We were a bit in shock when the bill came. It was over $50 for two drinks and two entrees. This seemed a bit steep for the quality we received. We probably won't be back.

Home of the best white queso dip and golden margaritas !!!! Only gave 4 starts because I ordered chicken fajitas once and it wasn't that great. Majority of the plate was onions and peppers and hardly any meat. Other than that, great happy hour.

Food in general was a 3 star event. Good not great. WHY 4 Stars? I have become accustomed to Mexican food on the west coast and expect a lot more than when I lived in Delaware. That said I found the food acceptable. I was disappointed in that I love carnitas and am very surprised they were not anywhere on the menu. Mexican pork is superb when done right and in California it normally is a prominent part of any menu. My wife loved her tostadas and gave them a 5 star rating. Service was fine. WHY 4 Stars? THE FRIED ICE CREAM was the best I have had since first eating fried ice cream in Denver 20 years ago. There is an art to this dish which requires you start with rock hard ice cream so I remains ice cream and not some soft served version. THEY DONE IT RIGHT! A large portion ample enough for sharing. It had a superb crunch coating and was served in a great shell that was coated with a generous dusting of sugar and cinnamon. The dessert alone will bring me back here when I am in town. FANTASTIC !!!!

Stopped in for lunch, how bad can it be? Well, bad, really bad. Salsa is sweet, not real hot but was good and probably the part of lunch. Chips are served cold, I prefer then kept warm and served that way. I had the fajita combo, potions were huge and I was actually worried about them only providing three tortillas but upon closer inspection the majority of the food was the vegetables. Beef was no seasoned, that's very odd for fajitas and chicken was the same. Very bland, not pleasing to the pallet. Rice was overlooked and again not flavorful. Over priced in my opinion for a Mexican joint and for the quality of what you get. On a goos size the do have a large fully stocked bar but unless you are there to drink I would pass it by.

Even the salsa wasn't good! The entrees were bland and so greasy I felt ill after eating here. The service was meh at best.

No friendly greeting at the door. Loud, extremely mediocre music. Really loud. The food was expensive ($14 avg entree) for what you get, which is oversalted, plain, unseasoned Mexican food. The room was half full, but the service was very slow; probably because there is just one cook in the kitchen. We could see him at the pass--and no one else. So how fast can one man cook? We tried the Milanese al Pollo, which is 2 chicken patties, fried, with beans, rice, a small salad and fries. The chicken was good, but the fries were underdone, the rice hard (how old was it?) and the refried beans just plain. We also had Puntas Mexicanans, beef tips. Overcooked (ordered medium; they were well done), over salted so neither of us could really eat it. Tough, sized like postage stamps. Miserable. The rice was hard, the enchilada was in a bitter sauce, also oversalted. Bill: $30 for two minus tip, neither of us really dined. I will say, the food was properly hot, which is something I'm not experiencing much in the US. Most food arrives lukewarm at best; this was piping hot. Sadly, not worth the eating.

Stopped going for poor service and food quality six months ago! Was good the first 2 years until ownership change! Decided to give it another shot tonight! Needless to say I am writing thi review from another rest. Server was useless and oblivious! Foo arrive all cold! Asked to speak to manager and his response was a blank stare. Steer clear.... Will never return!

Great place. Not very authentic but great Mexican food for America. If you looking for cow tongue taco not the place. But if you looking for tacos and salsa, margaritas, and fajitas its the place. Ceviche is awesome so are the pork and pineapple tacos. Here's a hint ask for grilled jalapeños. By the way we love the waitstaff. If you have any issues just remember the motto treat people how you wanna be treated

We boycotted tequila's for awhile. Last time we were there the meat was oversalted and the fajita's were made with bad onions. The kids wanted Mexican and in a crunch to find them something close, against my better judgement I went back. All i could say is that my steak was gray in color and not in a good way. I returned my dish to a server who then got the manager. Who in turn could only say that is the way the steak came in. Really your cooks didn't have to cook it and serve it did they? I am sorry to say we won't be returning.

Margarita's were very good, green salsa excellent. Moderately priced, friendly wait staff- I would go back again.

Went a couple of weeks ago for a dinner after work and... very good ceviche, good margaritas... but, very bad acoustics. It was almost impossible to hear the people across the table. Price/Quality could be better.

After hearing some okay reviews of Tequila's, I tried it last night. What a mistake!! The "happy hour" margarita special consisted of one still-overly-priced house (lime) margarita. The service was not great or fast, even given the fact that the restaurant was mostly empty. Two of the three dishes ordered by my table were messed up (swapping chicken for beef in a taco salad - and providing a beef-and-chicken filled plate when a vegetarian dish was ordered!). Very little was done to correct the order and service mistakes - server didn't seem to care very much. Add to that the fact that many dishes (none of which sounded overly original) were on the pricey side and the complimentary salsa was bland and cold (likely from a jar) - all leads me to conclude: I won't be coming back anytime soon!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
